Cult of the Lamb theory #7

I think the reason Sozo was so paranoid about his followers was because they weren't actually HIS followers, they were the parasitic mushroom's followers. The mushroom growing out of his head.

When the Lamb first enters the grotto we see a massive skull of some creature with a ginormous mushroom growing out of it. Some obvious foreshadowing. Interestingly this mushroom appears to have it "eyes" closed seemingly in repose. This makes me wonder if those parasitic mushrooms are sentient like the mushroom followers we see. This might also explain why his followers leave after his death. They were serving the parasitic mushroom, not sozo.

I say this because the mushroomo followers appear to be sentient mushroom people, not creatures parasitized and controlled by mushrooms. Funny enough, I tried looking up red mushrooms with black spots and found nothing. This got me thinking. When killed mushroomos drop menticide mushrooms, which are red w/ white spots. They are menticide mushroom people, shouldn't they have white spots not black? I think the mushroomo are disguising themselves as NOT-menticide mushrooms. Possibly to keep sozo from eating them.

Hmm… No, absolutely not. King Sozo likes everything about Helob and spiders, and nothing bothers him. Some would say spiders aren't nice race, because they like to eat other beings, but Sozo doesn't see that as a flaw. He likes that he can use his friend's hunger to slowly getting rid of the murderous toadstools traitors.

Should he dislike anything about his king? Oh no, no, no… Ol' poor Helob sees no unpleasant things in his lovely and kind king's species… Nothing bothers him, no, no...

Well, maybe one thing. Helob very much dislikes how giant ants treat their males. Yes! This is a trait that bothers Helob, and if he could, he would go and hurt all ants from the anthill of the good and wise King Sozo very much for how they treated him, yes!

Yes, that's it. The ants are very lucky to be dead. Because Helob would kill and eat them all for that.

I like to Think "Mushroomo" is just a general name for "Mushroom people"! The specific ones we find in game are Menticide :]
