Macron se hunde en el infierno

 Observando el furibundo y violento comportamiento en las calles francesas uno no puede evitar pensar lo siguiente: “¡Ha llegado por fin la revolución, el régimen no resistirá! Francia esta acabada y el gobierno actual caerá pronto”. Realmente no importa quien se alce en su contra, ya se trata de jóvenes y adolescentes africanos o árabes de los suburbios, los populistas con chaleco amarillo, campesinos descontentos, partidarios de las minorías sexuales, opositores a las minorías sexuales y defensores de la familia tradicional, nacionalistas, antifascistas, anarquistas, estudiantes, jubilados, ciclistas, animalistas, sindicalistas (CGT), ecologistas o pensionados. Las protestas francesas han sido enormes, reuniendo a miles, decenas, cientos o incluso millones. Las calles francesas se han llenado con descontento una y otra vez que interrumpen el tráfico, bloquea las estaciones de tren y los aeropuertos, declara la caída de las instituciones y las escuelas, quema de gasolina en la calle, destrucción de coches, gritos enloquecidos, agitación de pancartas y ataques a la policía. Luego… todo se calma, la gente recupera el sentido común, toman analgésicos y vuelven a trabajar. Pasan el resto de su vida diaria quejándose del alza en los precios y la política nacional con sus vecinos en pequeños restaurantes. Allí siguen gritando, pero con una voz más pausada.

 En Francia, después de 1968, ninguna gran protesta ha sido capaz de cambiar nada. Tales protestas no han obtenido ningún resultado sin importar cuál sea su tamaño o las circunstancias. Quienes conocen Francia saben que se trata de una nación de psicópatas, por lo que este problema no tiene nada que ver con los migrantes. A las autoridades francesas les importa un bledo los inmigrantes igual que a los ciudadanos de pie. Tal indiferencia lleva a lo inmigrantes a convertirse igualmente en psicópatas, siendo esta la única forma de integrarse a tan horrible civilización: es necesario convertirte en un psicópata para poder vivir junto a otros psicópatas. Jean Baudrillard solía decir que Francia era una nación de imbéciles que era incapaz de entender el arte y que la gente se amontonaba a miles en el Museo para que el techo se derrumbará sobre ellos con tal de morir. Hace tiempo que la indiferencia y los ataques histéricos sustituyeron entre los franceses a la cultura y la política. Si el general De Gaulle hubiera realmente conocido a los franceses jamás le hubiera prestado atención a las protestas izquierdistas de mayo de 1968, pero lamentablemente sí lo hizo. Ningún otro presidente francés ha cometido este error y, pase lo que pase en las calles o la economía, la política, la sociedad o las finanzas en Francia, todos los presidentes siempre han mantenido la calma frente a las protestas. El control de los medios de comunicación sobre Francia es total. Régis Debray, que fue asesor de Miterrand, dijo que durante todo el mandato de este último – Miterrand era formalmente de izquierda – él y su jefe jamás consiguieron sacar adelante ninguna de sus reformas, pues todas sus iniciativas siempre se topaban con alguna clase de oposición invisible. Ni Debray ni Miterrand fueron capaces de comprender, mientras estaban en el poder, cual era el origen de tal oposición, pero luego Debray se dio cuenta que eran los medios de comunicación, la prensa, la que constituía esa oposición. Los psicópatas que protestan en la calle, es decir, la población, no son nada, la prensa francesa lo es todo. Recordemos como en la primera elección presidencial de Macron el diario Liberation publicó un titular diciendo “¡Haz lo que quieras, pero vota por Macron!”, así fue como este consiguió su victoria sobre la muy derechista – aunque más racional – Marine Le Pen. Fue una victoria muy a la francesa. Sin importar si las protestas son de derechas, de izquierdas, a favor o en contra de la inmigración, la subida o no de los impuestos… todo da igual, solo vota por Macron, ya está. Se trata de una orden que no puede ser discutida y nadie es responsable de nada después de haber votado. Tampoco Macron, después de todo ¿por qué debería serlo?

 Macron ya era bastante odiado después de su primer mandato, no recuerdo por qué exactamente, quizás por todo lo que hizo, pero igual fue reelegido por los franceses. Muchas veces se dice que los rusos son imprevisibles… aunque no están cierto. Por el contrario, los franceses son previsibles, pero esto también resulta desconcertante. Han reelegido a un completo idiota, ¿quién en su sano juicio haría algo semejante? Sin embargo, los franceses lo hicieron y luego han seguido protestante, volcando coches, rompiendo escaparates, etc… Baudrillard decía que los franceses son idiotas, Macron es francés, entonces… Aún así todo continua igual. La magnitud de los disturbios actuales, producto de hordas de adolescentes hijos de inmigrantes (Macron le ha echado la culpa a los videojuegos y Tik Tok), la caída de la economía, el aumento de los bonos del Estado, la recesión, la interrupción de las vacaciones, las enormes perdidas fruto del vandalismo, etc., no deben engañarnos: Francia sigue igual. Macron no hará nada para cambiarlo, nadie lo hará. Por el contrario, se reunirá con Greta Thunberg para hablar del cambio climático, la escalada o el envío de armas a Ucrania, luego le pagará millones a alguna agencia oficial de relaciones públicas estadounidense que este bajo la supervisión de la CIA, hablará con Scholz por teléfono, irá a una discoteca gay, se mirara y volverá a mirar en el espejo… y todo estará en calma como si nada hubiera sucedido. El apocalipsis y el fin del mundo jamás acontecerán en Francia…

 Solo nos queda por suponer una cosa: el apocalipsis en este antaño y venerable país ha quedado en suspenso. Y las calles desbordadas por la violencia son la prueba. ¿Existe acaso alguien o algo que pueda cambiar semejante situación? Si examinamos detenidamente la cultura francesa de los siglos XIX y XX llegamos a la siguiente conclusión: el espíritu francés, como Orfeo (es el caso de Jean Cocteau y Maurice Blanchot) quería únicamente descender a lo más profundo del infierno. Y precisamente lo han conseguido de una forma irreversible. ¿Cuánto tiempo durará semejante situación? Nadie lo sabe. La hermosa Francia, que antes era llamada por los católicos de la Edad Media como la hija primogénita de la Iglesia, se ha convertido en un basurero tanto espiritual como material. Notre-Dame ardió en llamas y todas las esculturas y pinturas valiosas del Louvre han sido retiradas con tal de no ofender a las feministas o los inmigrantes. Ya solo queda Macron y su espejo, más o menos como en la obra de Orfeo de Jean Cocteau decorada por Jeanne Hugo y con vestidos de Coco Chanel.

Giving a second life to recyclable material

The Reciclar esCultura (Recycle Is Culture / Sculpture) contest shows us the possibilities of turning into art some materials that, at first glance, may seem disposable and no longer have a useful life, waste materials that end up in rivers, beaches and streams and thus contribute to climate change.

The contest - carried out by Asociación Marea Verde in conjunction with Fundación Natura, the Panama Audubon Society and the Panama BioMuseum, and sponsored by the Embassy of Israel - was attended by 200 people from all over the country, who made proposals focused on raising public awareness of the negative impact of waste on nature.

In the process, the participants were advised by artistic and environmental experts and in the end 52 sculptures were chosen, previously evaluated by a jury composed of Eduardo Navarro, Tessie Moreno Arias, Donna Conlon, Darién Montañez and Andrea Arias.

From that total, 20 finalists emerged and, of them, 6 were winners.

One of them was the plastic artist Yarelys Mendoza with her work Esperanza el pulpo (Hope the Octopus), with which she seeks to call attention to the problem of waste.

Mendoza chose the octopus, since it is a marine animal characterized by its intelligence, in a work that seeks to generate empathy in the viewer, while giving it the name hope, because, in her opinion, "it is the last thing to be lost".

"We must not allow ourselves to be overwhelmed by the problem, but address it in a positive way and act from our homes with recycling and reuse of resources," he said.

Meanwhile, Mar de Posibilidades (Sea of Possibilities), created by Econciencia - Mkrtich Darbinyan and Daniel Nikolaev and Clandestino Labs is a sculpture that reflects the convergence of different people from different cultures around the transformation of materials that are considered garbage.

"It's showing the potential within the discarded materials and with teamwork, commitment and collaboration," said Nahuel Galeano, from Clandestino Labs.

On the other hand, Manglar Blanco, by artist Hugo González, is a work based on the situation of the mangroves of Chame, Panama, threatened by the saturation of the local landfill, which deposits large amounts of garbage in that protected area. A problem that has been going on for many years and needs to be given greater attention, said González.

One of the works that stands out in this exhibition is that of Isabel Preciado and Isabel Brostella of the Gaia Landscape Architecture Workshop, who made the sculpture Suelo Desenmascarado, located in the Museo de Panamá Viejo, whose purpose is to provide an immersive experience with which one can see first hand the process of erosion and put into context the amount of waste that damages the environment and why it is necessary to properly manage it.

Preciado and Brostella separated different objects they found at the Panama Viejo site and divided them into three transparent acrylic boxes that represent the different generations, which are covered by earth, giving a sensation in which they emerge above the ground.

The artistic piece is made up of various discarded objects such as a telephone from the 1970s, a video game controller and a computer mouse. These materials are used to create a 'new soil' made of materials that are not recycled in an appropriate way.

Both consider that environmental education and the awareness and responsibility of citizens on the subject is essential, in addition to the need for the implementation of better public recycling policies.

Mirei Endara, president of Asociación Marea Verde, Panama, said that this contest seeks to provide opportunities for action and search for solutions in the environmental field and to use creativity not only as a means to express what they feel about this issue, but also as a method of reflection on the impact of human actions on their environment.

Endara also considered that there is still much to be done in terms of waste management and that each citizen has to do his or her bit. "What is the use of making a law if nobody is going to pay attention to it? What is the use of making a public policy if it is not known and is not applied? This is up to all of us, and the first step is to become aware and the second step is to take action," she said.

The head of the Green Tide Association also claimed the existence of public recycling policies that are congruent with the intention and how waste is being managed, and suggested the existence of a range of incentives (to business, innovation, manufacturing industry, etc.) that help to see these materials not as waste but as valuable materials, so it would be necessary the existence of a value chain that allows all these materials seen as garbage can be recycled.

"The youth is the hope we have and they are the ones who are inheriting this planet. Hopefully, through technology and innovation, and love for human beings, the environment and biodiversity, we can generate real and viable options for sustainability," he said.

Meanwhile, the head of exhibitions of the Biomuseo - Darién Montañez expressed that the jury is satisfied with the quantity and quality of the pieces received during the call for entries, while indicating that the difficult part was to select the winning pieces.

"There were different points of view (...) The task is to see those pieces that make the spectator feel something and that know how to transmit the message. We had to be clear about what the artist wanted to say through his works," he added.

The Embassy of Israel expressed its pleasure at being part of this contest because "we believe that it is everyone's responsibility to protect the environment and to educate about the changes that can be achieved if we dispose of waste properly.

Cinema Tropical Announces the Best Latin American and U.S. Latinx Films of 2022

        Cinema Tropical, the non-profit media arts organization that is leading presenter of Latin American cinema in the United States, is proud to announce its annual list of Best Latin American Films of the Year, comprised of 25 Latin American titles from twelve different countries, plus five U.S. Latinx productions—all of them by female directors—that the New York-based organization has selected as the best of the year.

     Featuring productions from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the United States, and Venezuela, the films selected in this list will compete for the 13th Annual Cinema Tropical Awards.

     The winners for Best Film, Best Director, Best First Film, and Best U.S. Latinx Film, will be announced in an in-person event on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Film at Lincoln Center in New York City.

    A jury composed of programmer Cecilia Barrionuevo, former Artistic Director of the Mar del Plata Film Festival; Andrea Picard, Senior Curator at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF); José Rodriguez, Programmer at the Tribeca Film Festival; and filmmaker Dominga Sotomayor (Too Late to Die Young); will choose the winners of the 13th Annual Cinema Tropical Awards in the Latin American cinema category.

     Filmmaker Rodrigo Reyes (499, Sansón and Me); Ximena Amescua, Manager of Artist Programs at Firelight Media; and film programmer and producer Virginia Westover, will select the winner in the U.S. Latinx category.

         Please note that all the films under consideration had a minimum of 60 minutes in length and premiered between May 1, 2021, and April 30, 2022.

MWW Artwork of the Day (12/16/22) John Marin (American, 1870-1953) Figures in a Waiting Room (1931) Oil on canvas, 56 x 68.5 cm. Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, Madrid

In the early 1930s John Marin partly turned away from his urban compositions and developed an interest in depicting figures in indoor settings. He began to paint anonymous people in various parts of the city such as the subway, a restaurant and, as in this case, a waiting room that could be anywhere. Figures in a Waiting Room, a small oil painting dated 1931, shows several anonymous, static people in an undefined room, most likely a waiting room in some public building. Clearly isolated from each other by the dark frame around them, the figures in the composition tell of the lack of human communication in the modern city.  The composition, structured around an intensely illuminated central area occupied by a seated figure around which the rest of the people gravitate, displays the influence of Cézanne and Cubism, essential references throughout Marin’s entire career as a painter.

Quando si parla di Okinawa molti pensano soltanto all'isola principale ma in realtà l'arcipelago di Okinawa (Okinawa Shoto in giapponese) è composto da più di 160 isole, quasi tutte molto piccole e solo 49 abitate.

Possiamo dividere l'arcipelago in tre grandi gruppi di isole:

L'isola principale di Okinawa dove c'è Naha, il maggiore centro abitato della Prefettura di Okinawa, e le isole intorno (Okinawa Honto). Tra queste ci sono le Isole Kerama(Zamami, Aka e Tokashiki) e Kume.

L'isola di Miyako (o Miyakojima) e le piccole isole circostanti (Miyako Retto).

Le Isole Yaeyama che includono Ishigaki, Iriomote e Taketomi (Yaeyama Retto).

1 castello Shuri

Il Castello di Shuri, situato nella prefettura di Okinawa, è un importante tesoro storico e culturale del Giappone. Costruito nel XIV secolo, è stato il centro politico e amministrativo del regno di Ryukyu. Dopo essere stato distrutto durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, è stato restaurato e ora è un sito UNESCO. Paul Signac (1863-1935)

Vita e Stile

Signac è insieme a Seurat il più importante esponente del pointillisme. Proviene da una famiglia modesta di Parigi, e abbandona gli studi di architettura per dedicarsi alla pittura. È politicamente vicino agli ambienti anarchici, e compie viaggi in Italia e Francia. Continua gli studi di Seurat, componendo i suoi dipinti di tasselli di colori puri.

Il palazzo dei Papi ad Avignone

Paul Signac fu appassionato di nautica e numerosi sono i suoi dipinti che rappresentano corsi d’acqua e vedute marine. Come anche fecero gli impressionisti in quest’opera sono protagonisti i riflessi che provengono dal palazzo dei papi e dal cielo che si riflettono sulla superficie del mare creando limpide e accese composizioni cromatiche. Signac realizzò inoltre molte vedute di importanti città europee tra le quali Genova, Venezia e di Istanbul.

Secondo i curatori del museo d’Orsay e gli storici dell’arte il dipinto intitolato Il palazzo dei Papi ad Avignone è un’opera determinante per comprendere l’evoluzione stilistica del Neoimpressionismo di Paul Signac. Infatti il pittore, ai puntini utilizzati da Georges Seurat, preferì invece piccoli tocchi di colore che, nel tempo diventarono brevi pennellate simili a tasselli di un mosaico dipinto, In particolare nel dipinto i rettangoli si orientano in modo differente rispetto alle varie parti dell’opera.

In primo piano, sul fiume Rodano i tasselli sono orizzontali, e permettono di suggerire ulteriormente lo scorrimento dell’acqua. Invece le architetture sono colorate con tasselli rettangolari orientati in verticale che esaltano l’altezza degli edifici. Il cielo è invece trattato con picchiettature di colore più libere che costruiscono una superficie increspata a sinistra. Le forme sono prive di disegno però risultano ben evidenti grazie alle ombre di colore complementare che contrastano con il colore locale della figura.
