1. eduardo/shin
so my second EVER voltage guy in a single purchase game was eduardo (first was yamato from mfw like 90% of all voltage players lol) - back when he was still eduardo with the short haired sprite. i replayed his route in love 365 last year and he gave me a different impression as shin? but anyway eduardo was the OG kaga and i love and miss him so much. at one point he was my ultimate voltage husband!! also his story was so enthralling. if you love kaga, you will definitely love eduardo. if you look through my eduardo tag/search on my blog, you’ll see i once called him my love, my one true love, my fav voltage guy, my husband, etc. i miss him...
2. nathan/nagi
what a SWEETHEART? he’s a little tsun but damn he falls hard. he’s so awkwardly caring and i love it when he gets angry. also he’s 190cm with a weirdly high bounty on his head for some reason iirc. he was the fandom’s favourite tsundere before we had ever even heard of takuto.
3. christopher/soshi
it might sound odd because we all know i have a tendency to go for enigmatic characters and/or cold/aloof characters BUT i also love a fair share of sweet guys (haruki from ddiwt, lute aka the love of my life) especially because i love the feeling of not knowing if they’re just being kind or if they’re actually in love with you. they’re also usually ridiculously popular with women but oblivious about it and i love the drama there. it’s been so long since i last played him but i have his routes on PIL:CC on love 365 so i think it’s time for a reread...

my sweet bodyguard:
1. mizuki fujisaki
my lovely, gorgeous, airheaded, wonderful bodyguard. he’s so underrated but so lovely. i just adore him. for the last 8 years since meeting him, i have just conveniently chosen to suspend my disbelief at the idea that a pop idol/celebrity could just quit and become a bodyguard. imagine if kyohei just peaced out of revance and became a bodyguard and everyone was chill with it. anyway i’m realising increasingly that i like enigmatic love interests lol and mizuki is just so hard to figure out? which makes it all the more delicious when he gets serious. i also love that he can literally talk to animals. i love how chill he is and how good he is at diffusing tension. i love everything about him. i actually don’t have any of his routes with me (i last played him when i still used an iphone so don’t have him on my love 365 on android ;~;) but i’m genuinely considering repurchasing all his routes lol
2. kyoya hayase
we got off to a rough start but then i fell fast and hard. hayase is someone that i’m afraid to rave about too much because i want to be the only person who knows about him so he can be mine and mine alone. has the cutest smile, the cutest blush and the lowest alcohol tolerance. he’s also totally my Type bc i love cold/serious standoffish characters who only open up to the person they love (i.e. me). the climax of his FLA route had my heart pounding but i was starry-eyed at his calm confidence. i trust him with my life.
3. daichi katsuragi
ah my beloved dorky captain aka KEVIN. i learned my love for household appliances from him. mature, serious, chivalrous, loyal, but with an easily flustered cute side… basically the modern day gaia from akd. i FREAKED OUT when i saw him in ayumu’s route. voltage WHERE is my msb x hlitf crossover?!?!?! i love katsuragi’s calm yet authoritative leadership skills and the way he just commands respect from everyone.
4. subaru ichiyanagi
the gap moe is so real with subaru. honestly i love subaru, he was my first ever bodyguard back when i played my sweet bodyguard for GREE. the number of guards i had to complete just to get enough points to pick good options in his route was ridiculous, i spent so much time on it!! also the amount of ender i had to earn to get nice clothes lmao. he only ranks 4th because i actually ship him with kosugi… their chemistry is unreal lol. also with goto, for obvious reasons. i wanna see more subaru in hlitf... subaru route? yes?
5. toru kurosawa
msb kurosawa is so much sweeter than hlitf kurosawa, even when he fucks off for 2 chapters while you spend days looking for him. msb kurosawa will distance himself from you to sort out his issues so he can be a better man for you. hlitf kurosawa will drag you kicking and screaming into his problems (although this may be because hlitf mc clings on like the snapping turtle she is). msb kurosawa is complex and interesting and won’t guilt you into sleeping with him and then leave you the next day.
6. kaiji akizuki
i started kaiji’s route in GREE about 8 years ago and don’t think i ever finished it? but as far as i remember, it was really cute. kaiji is so easy to be around and i love osananajimi characters who have loved you since you were kids together. also his sisters are crazy lol.
7. seiji goto
goto ranks 7th because the route started off on a really weird note (like hayase’s) with too much pre-route exposition (i still have no idea where to find the info that helps to ease into his route). also because he made me actually want to be with subaru instead in his route and his way to win me back was to whisk me away from a date with subaru and take me straight to kazuki’s grave. that being said, his GREE route was way better so...
*i haven’t played ishigami, sora, makabe, koda or eiji (but recently bought eiji's set) but sora ranks last because of a long running gag with @hikarunohana about hating on sora

Hello sweetie, I am always happy when I meet a new HLITF fan especially if you like Seiji because he is my ultimate bias! You have to tell me what you love about him! If you google my blog you can find a lot of stuff about him. Stuff from My Sweet Bodyguard days, MSB Gree days (the party app) and stuff not yet released for overseas for HLITF. Also I am very particular about Voltage’s mistake of calling Seiji’s ex Natsuki, (it’s actually Kazuki).
Anyway… I have to be honest with you, while I understand that many people cannot afford or do not choose to spend money buying routes, I do not encourage people to go on youtube or similar sites to get their fix. At one point in time, I fought very hard about getting rid of illegal uploads and I still do not condone them.
I do summaries of routes and prologues, to help inform and guide other fans about what they may like or not, so people can use their $$ smartly. These summaries are by no means a way to replace the experience of actually reading a full route.
You don’t need to have a credit card to buy routes. You can save up and buy iTunes card/Google play cards available in many shops and charge your account to buy routes you absolute like. I highly encourage you to do that because it is important that each us can show our support to the otome community. The more we buy, the more otome can be released in the future.
The overseas version of HLITF has plenty for you to read after that part you mentioned. I also highly recommend you read Seiji Goto’s route in MSB!
Thanks for reaching out and do search my blog for more Seiji stuff. I wrote a LOT of posts on him and summaries of routes that dates 5 years back. I maybe did the summary of what you are looking for but I cannot remember. I have over 13k posts as of today XD.

Probably because KBTBB MC is a relic of the eyeless protagonist era that she's not really allowed to have her own personality? Like she's supposed to be as blank as possible so the majority of players can project onto her with no trouble.
i mean i’m not saying that she doesn’t have a personality bc she definitely does even if it’s quite template voltage mc (generally thoughtful, compassionate, emotionally resilient, never say die attitude - which actually i really like even though i know a lot of people don’t like that kind of mc)
but even some of the oldest voltage eyeless heroines have had personal lives and careers not dictated by the love interests, e.g. msb mc where they all move to london just for her bc she joined an english theatre troupe, celebrity darling where the mc is an idol herself, llftx using her job as a museum curator to help out with missions, etc. when i made my tag yourself voltage mc edition i was like ??? what do i write about her specifically? and had to just go by intuition lmao bc she just seems like the type that can’t do mental maths but i don’t really know anything about her hobbies or desires in life etc. since she has no lifetime wishes/aspirations haha unlike, e.g. fashion designer bmp gree mc. but again maybe it’s just bc i don’t really know her that well

I think the thing about Ishigami is that we get like only drips of his backstory and motivation across seasons. It feels like his stories are mostly about MC developing professionally and not all that related to him unlike other routes where there are big overarching plot? Like for example Kaga's past is really laid bare and we finally got resolution to Soma's but not really anything for Ishigami.
yeah i feel like they expected us to know his backstory from msb maybe? but then with goto we kinda got the full meal deal (and waaaaay more lmao) with kazuki - i would argue that goto’s history reveal is so much better in hlitf than in standalone msb (gree is where it’s at!) ishigami’s stories have always been a bit strange to me in the sense that i sometimes feel they’re a little more like separate scenes stitched together. even his ms1 felt a little patchy at some points bc sometimes there isn’t really a sense of time passing since there seem to be some time skips here and there and things happen out of the blue sometimes. his battlefield does the same thing where i felt like the mc going to nyc was kind of set up weirdly? i remember at the time thinking she was just dreaming when shirogane sent her off haha. also i’m not sure if it was a coding error but both ending scenes seem to come in at the wrong time.
anyway i think ishigami’s story will be revealed/resolved more in his trial route since we’re just starting to get some of the pieces of his history now and he and his mc are currently still going through their issue. it’s temporarily resolved imo, but in the same way that kaga and his mc seem to resolve things in adversaries but ACTUALLY fully work through the issue together at the end of his graduation route

I used to play voltage way back in the msb/bmp gree era and only recently restarted voltage so HLITF feels fairly new to me but. Seeing all your HLITF content I took a leap of faith and bought kaga's stories during the sale and man.... he really lived up to the hype,,,, thanks for your A+ content on this blog!!!

I don’t know why....but I feel like Tsugaru can win the 2020 general election if they are going to hold one like 2019. He is getting more popular and honestly I’m excited for his route to be translated
ldfkjsk i would LOVE THAT!! i feel like he got a vip room super quickly (actually i guess his ms1 has been out for a while now) but i feel like he’s the first person to get a vip room before even having mutual feelings with his mc? i would die of happiness if he won next year’s election haha. the more i look at tsugaru the more i fall in love with him. i can’t wait to see him get really serious :D
realistically idk if it’s possible bc he has a lot less content compared to the top 5 (ayumu, eisuke, kaga, kirisawa, nomura) but he literally only came out VERY recently compared to the rest of the top 10 and at the time of election only had ms1+2 and sequel but he still ranked in 6th which is AMAZING. however, ayumu had 864389 votes and even kaga (in 3rd place) had ‘only’ 511028. tsugaru’s ranked in 6th with 289490 votes so there’s still a big gap between that and getting 1st place. BUT everyone seems to love his ms3 and it has thousands of comments/reviews and a super high star rating already so maybe this ms3 will be the deciding factor that bumps him up even higher?! i would literally die for ayumu/kaga/tsugaru in the top 3 (in any order) of next year’s election.
(side note: love that haru shindo from celebrity darling ranked in 7th above tachibana from irresistible mistakes even tho cd hasn’t had new content in forever... haru is our celebrity KING. i got my real life best friends to play msb and cd back during gree days in like 2012/3 and when i brought up voltage again to them last year they instantly and ONLY remembered haru shindo and seiji goto lmaooo)

I actually played Kaga's route straight from MS to MS, and when they suddenly introduced Hana I was all ??? Who is this girl?? Did Voltage skipped some MS content?? Also the thing with Kaga and MC's brother or Namba's Hokkaiso promise to MC, for example. Is this kind of thing exclusive to HLITF? Because I played other titles and substories barely matter in the grand scheme of things, mostly they are extra stories but not major things like in HLITF.
oh nooooo honestly i don’t even remember when they introduce hana - i think it may be the hot love on a frosty night christmas substory? i literally guzzle all hlitf content so i never remember where i read this or that. i thought the thing with mc’s brother happened during his MS2 tho maybe??? i feel like they met when kaga went to drag mc back at some point and then kept texting each other since then.
to be honest i think basically all the hlitf substories are quality on their own and i think they do a great job with worldbuilding and developing the nuances of the relationships which add to the experience of reading the main stories. but i do wish they’d kept key information (e.g. the introduction of major characters or items/scenes that are important parts of main stories) to things like epilogues or at least translated some of the specials that are referenced. for example, things like the matching watch set with ishigami and all those happy memories with soma would have been so much more powerful and devastating to read had we actually read and experienced those moments first.
i’m not sure if this is as big a problem in most other games although i do know that in some titles, substories may reference other substories (e.g. a valentine’s 2016 route referencing something that happened in valentine’s 2015). but one title that does this to the EXTREME is my sweet bodyguard. goto’s route in msb is ??????? if you haven’t read his gree route since it relies on you knowing about his past with kazuki and it also relies on even meeting him in the first place in the shanghai substory i think. eiji’s first route in london calling season kept referencing a new year substory that still hasn’t been released and did the same thing where it jumps to you having known each other for a while. hayase and koda’s main routes do the same thing too, only i don’t even know when or where they get introduced in the first love again reboot. i do think some of the older titles tend to have a bit more of a worldbuilding feel with all of their content which i enjoy (compared to like kbtbb where so many of the substories don’t really contribute to the overall relationship development and are just.... random occurrences, repetitive relationship dynamics in similar but slightly different situations or AUs lol) (kbtbb fans don’t come after me lol i’m afraid)

MSB in Love365 is kind of mess, tbh... Play the PSD guys and they feel like they're airdropped out of nowhere. The additional guys (like Makabe, Eiji) also have that sudden feel to them? It feels like MSB is originally made for gree, I think, that's why the transition doesn't feel as smooth in the paid version. As for kbtbb, it's because they're mostly cashgrabs, imo :o (don't kill me kbtbb fans)
so true!! goto’s only makes sense after you’ve already read his gree route (and fallen in love with him lol). tbh sometimes i find the pacing of some of ishigami’s hlitf routes almost have that skippy msb feel. i never ended up playing makabe but played eiji recently and i was like ???? am i missing something?
even hayase’s is weird which is so strange to me bc it’s literally a reboot that i think happened after the love 365 switch and hayase is part of gen 1 of the reboot so ??? my theory is that his character may have been introduced halfway through another main story (e.g. subaru’s) with you already getting to know him a bit, which is when his own route would then kick in? after the first couple of chapters it was fine, but yeah the opening was really confusing and i wish it had carried on straight from the prologue.
also i agree, kbtbb is voltage intl’s biggest cashcow (also why they keep getting vip room events lol) but like... they have so much content already that no longer contributes at all to the main timeline or even the same UNIVERSE as the og title, and i would argue it barely even contributes to relationship development bc honestly most of the relationships and characters maxed out already in terms of development so it’s just repetition of the same dynamics... like how many times can we see eisuke get jealous and/or pissy and then drag her off to have sex and then secretly be all soft about her internally... please let this title have a break haha (don’t kill me either pls fans)
