omg 😂

it doesn’t actually take me too long. tutorial under the cut for anyone who wants to know how to make cut-up style poems like this one:

so i take a screenshot and put it into ms paint, where i make myself a working space by setting the background to some colour other than black or white. in the example below, i use purple.

⬆ as you can see above, the left side is a screenshot, and beside it is a working space made of purple. i use the ms paint "select" tool to drag words where i want them.

after i have the text looking how i want it, i once again use the "select" tool to copy + paste my text into GIMP (which is free to download).

once the image is in GIMP, i make sure that it has an "alpha layer" which basically means that the negative space will be transparent rather than a solid colour.

then i use the "select by colour" tool to erase all the purple, and leave me with floating text strips.

new layer time! i create two: one for the shadow, and one for whatever background graphic i want. sometimes, i rename the text layer.

⬆ arranged like so: text layer on top, shadow layer under that, background graphic in the background.

now, using the "fuzzy select tool" (the one that looks like a magic wand in GIMP), i navigate to "TEXT LAYER" and select everything that is not text. then, i invert the selection using the "select" drop-down menu.

(the hot pink here indicates what i have selected)

now that you have your selection inverted, navigate to "SHADOW LAYER" and use the "bucket fill tool" to colour in this inverted selection (which should be an exact shape-match for your text). usually, i will set my "TEXT LAYER" as invisible while i do this, so i can see what i'm doing.

then i drag the shadow into place, wherever i want it, using the "move tool"

finally, navigate to "BACKGROUND LAYER" and copy + paste any picture or graphic you want as the background. i'm using a picture of merlin, because i love him and he makes me happy.

you may have to fiddle around with image size, and remember to anchor it to the background layer once you're happy with where it sits.

merge all the layers, select all, and paste it into tumblr:

whenever you come to the house, mama rio welcomes you with open arms, now she isn’t gonna lie and say she liked you from the jump because she didn’t; it took some getting used too, before she even trusted you.. miles is her little boy and she loves him more than she loves anything. she just wants the best for him.

but after the three month anniversary, you had asked her about her dislike about you, and nervously gave her this big speech about how much you loved her son, and how you would do nothing but love him.. do nothing but show him how much you love him and show her how much you love her son.. is when she finally loosened up.

she feeds you, she has a photo of you and miles in her phone case, telling others..

“ this is mi mijo and his girlfriend! she’s beautiful isn’t she?”

whenever you come over, and you’re sleepy, she tries her best to keep you up until miles comes home

“ ah mija.. you wanna help me cook?”

“ I’m trying to learn how to knit… you wanna watch tutorials with me?”

“ let’s take a walk!”

it doesn’t take long before she’s giving up though, you’re a growing girl, and also a student at Vision’s Academy! It’s where you and miles met; she knows from a few sleepless nights her son has had that that school is tough, that doesn’t stop her from encouraging you two to do your best for your future.

so, now whenever she sees you walk through the door, with your bonnet in hand.. she sends a simple greeting

“ hey.. you sleepy? miles isn’t here right now.. I’ll tell him to get you when he comes back.”

“ okay mama.”

“ I love you.”

“ thank you, love you too.”

and then you’d be going into miles’ room; bonnet over your afro and falling down into his bed

the sleep would usually only last about a few hours before you feel the bed weigh down, your body going on high alert and waking you up, just to see your boyfriend in front of you.

“ woah.. mami, what’s wrong with you?”

“ nothing.. I just got a little scared.”

he would chuckle at your words, giving you a kiss on the cheek, his own bonnet on his own head as he laid down next to you

something he did whenever he got home and saw you fast asleep in his bed, he loved sleeping next to you.

BUT…

when he finds you in his shirts, is when he’s usually nothing but a giggling mess; the shirts go to your mid thigh, it’s never you wearing JUST his shirt, you always have a pair of his sweatpants on as well..

but he takes pictures of you, sleeping in his clothes ( sometimes even in his bonnet when you forget yours or come straight to his home on fridays)

he definitely sends the pictures to ganke; teasing him about how he has a beautiful girlfriend who wears his clothes & ganke doesn’t

“ look at my mami in my clothes..”

“ oh sorry.. I forgot you don’t know what it’s like..”

“ okay.. you know what-“

he had made it his profile picture on Instagram for a few hours.. a picture of you dressed in clothes that belonged to him, with drool running down your face, and sprawled out all crazy.. he only changed it after one of the guys from his old school that followed him said you were a baddie even while dressed casual

Where Danger Finds Me, it Follows with Tides - 1

Plot: Egyptian reader finds themselves yearning for the attention of Wednesday

Thrown into War ch1

Word count: 2k

Warnings: blood, bit of violence

After a grueling week of listening to the groaning spewing out of a loud werewolf’s mouth and the sounds of boxes being unpacked, broken down, then thrown out from across the shared dorm, Wednesday was finally able to get some sort of thought down on her typewriter.

This was the week before a new prison sentence that was covered up by a ‘fun’ thing called education, but last year was more of a thrill than any of her other school years. Getting kidnapped, fighting evil forces, beating up an ex-teacher, sending an ex to jail, and learning to be more affectionate to people she cared about—the thought made Wednesday’s zygomaticus major muscle twitch. Quickly brushing it off, Wednesday had one more hour before her sentence started. The schedule wasn’t too different from last year's, but the people were. Wednesday was involuntarily filled with facts about who was in her new classes there, statuses, drama, and abilities by none other than Enid.

Wednesday had gotten everything ready for herself; now it was time to get this beast across from her to cooperate. The black-haired girl could wake her roommate up in the most abrupt way possible, but that was mostly the last thing Enid needed right now. The wolf’s growling and grinding in her deep sleep were more intense than usual; clearly, she was on edge. Wednesday hadn’t had a clue how to wake someone up in a thoughtful way, so the second best choice was her second favorite right hand.

The extra hand in the room crawled and climbed its way up to Enid, and started to shake the girl gently. A low, loud groan bounced off the ancient walls, and as a result, Thing rattled her harder.

"AM I LATE?" Enid threw herself forward, as did Thing.

"No, you’re actually early, for once," the stoic voice replied.

"But you have less than 40 minutes to get ready."

And with that, the 40-minute race began. Enid was able to get ready and look good in 35 minutes and 5 seconds, almost bumping her third record down. They were able to use the extra 4 minutes and 55 seconds to get down to the quad to be the first to get breakfast. After the bell rang, people started rolling in. The only people the pair cared about were Yoko, Divina, Kent, Ajax, Eugene, and Bianca.

"I’m not ready for this at all; I couldn’t sleep at all last night. I know I did this last year, but I’m just not ready." Kent rambled out his anxieties.

"I know! I think I’m just excited about the new kids and teachers; I want to see who they replaced for Ms. Thornhill." Ajax continued the flow of conversation.

"Wasn’t her name Laura or something along those lines?" Bianca questioned.

"Laurel" Wednesday corrected

"Right, right, Wednesday you have fencing for first period right?" Bianca asked the goth girl, and she nodded in return.

"I sure hope you learned how to beat me during the break" Bianca chuckled.

"Believe me, I have."

"You guys have fencing together again?! Dang it! I loved seeing you guys argue about who should have gotten the point!" Yoko complained.

"Divina and I have them; I’ll make sure to fill you in," Enid commented to console the vampire.

Wednesday rolled her eyes and removed herself from the table to put her tray away; in doing so, the bell rang for the first period. The four with fencing walked in a group to the studio. Classic coach Vlad was there to greet the aspiring fighters again.

"Welcome back, you four. I'm glad to see you back again. If you want a refresher on how to battle, I will be setting up a tutorial for the new students; if not, get your gear on and go do practice matches." The coach shared.

Bianca nudged Wednesday jokingly, the shorter girl grumbled and continued to walk to her black uniform and mask that were placed during prep week. They all quickly changed and started matches as the coach reprimanded the newbies for their stances. The doors opened for a latecomer.. History repeats itself. That snarky grin flashed the room, the Ra’s eye marking on your right eye was as gold as the morning sun, and the scent of euphoric blue lotus followed when you walked past people.

"Vlad! Nice to see you again!" You called out while continuing to walk closer. Arms lifted up above your head for emphasis.

If Bianca were a werewolf, her ear would have twitched. She was so out of focus that Wednesday scored a point on her, yet she didn’t care; she just focused on that voice across the room. Wednesday stared at her, confused.

"Y/n… Don’t you have to be working somewhere?" The older man inquired.

"Yeah, about that, after Weems got hurt from the poisoning, the board wanted a background check on the admin here. A 16-year-old was definitely not someone they wanted working as staff; I guess they didn’t like my records. But! I still have perks; I just have to be an actual student, which is useless for me." You Informed.

"Thank you for saving Weems again. I’m guessing you’re my student then."

"Hey, what’s a scorpion for?" but yes, sir, I am!" You said it excitedly.

"I saw your old mask on the rack; it must have slipped my mind," Vlad mumbled.

Bianca continued to listen, she took off her mask to get a better look at who was speaking. Wednesday assessed the siren's facial features, which showed clear indications of fear, panic, and nervousness. Wednesday worried slightly for her friend, who was this person who had her opponent more scared than when she threatened Bianca? As if it were on queue you looked over to the pair for a split second, then to the equipment rack, eyes landing on the two. You walked past them with haste to get changed, Bianca was definitely on edge when they started up again; she could barely even get into the proper stance.

Once you changed, you planted yourself on the bench between the coach and the pair fighting, watching like an animal looking for its next prey. You mumbled something to Vlad, and Bianca was thrown off again. Of course, you noticed.

"Bianca I can feel and smell the fear off you, geez!" You yelled across the room.

"What the hell are you doing here?! Don’t you have to be scrubbing the halls?" Bianca snapped, throwing her mask on the ground and practically jogging towards you.

"I’m a student now." Returning the attitude

"Hurry up and duel that Addams kid," you commanded.

How did you know Wednesday's name?" the raven-haired girl questioned privately. Surely you’ve never met each other; clearly, you have tension with Bianca, so her friends wouldn’t have talked to you. Who are you?

"I’m not going to listen to you, L/N. Clearly, you lost your status." Bianca huffed up

Vlad has now stepped in "Ms. Barclay, it won’t hurt to do one duel, plus I want to see you two's improvement."

"Thank you, coach," you gleamed.

Bianca grumbled and went back to her spot, picking up the mask as well. The two got back into their stances. Bianca seemed more professional, dead set on winning, but a part of her was still nervous. Wednesday and Bianca bowed and were off, continuing to parry and attempt blows at each other until she could strike out Wednesday. Each. Consecutive. Time. It irked the raven girl. Drawing her out of thought, you spoke.

"Addams. Duel me."

"What?! I beat her each time, though! Duel me!" Bianca cried out

"You’re not focused on her at all; I don’t want to fight someone who has no thought of trying to improve." Your voice was gloomy and almost sounded bored with the conversation.

"I have! You haven’t been here to know that!" She protested

"If you improved, you would have seen me try and beat me."

Bianca shut her mouth, moved over to the bench, and practically threw herself down. You finally got up and put on that custom mask of yours, it had a small streak of red going down the right eye area. Wednesday studied everything she could about you, once you were face-to-face with her, she could finally get the height of you and your physique. She had to look up to look you dead in the eyes.

"I like you. You’re focused, and you try to understand everything you can before launching yourself into a battle. I like it, that’s why I wish to fight you." You smiled down at her.

Before she could say anything, you got into placement and waited for her to do so. Once she got into her comfortable stance, the raven girl gathered information on your stance; clearly, you know what you’re doing. After the bow of respect, you two slowly approached each other, Wednesday attempted a strike, but was completely shut down with ease.

You threw out a lazy strike, even that almost hit her. She tried two quick blows, but again, she shut down. What confused her was the fact that your block almost seemed to be there before she could even perform the move.

Could you read minds?

No, this doesn’t look like it, she’s seen mind readers, and this isn’t it. But that stupid smile was plastered on your face; it messed with her nerves a bit.

The pace quickens, and you shoot somewhat lazy shots. She strikes fast, just to be shot down again and again, It felt like hours, but really it was less than 2 minutes. Finally, you put what seems to be your all into this. The speed quickened, as did the eyes watching you two. She almost couldn’t keep up, this was too fast for her. You’re making the raven sweat. An opening for you, you shot like a snake.. no like a scorpion? Round one was finished, and you took the lead.

"Point for L/n!" Vlad exclaimed.

"Whatcha thinking, Addams?" You questioned.

"I want," she hesitated, "no mask, no tips. First blood." A Wednesday classic

"Deal!" You were excited— something realistic. Throwing off the mask, that stupid smile was still on your face.

Wednesday and you fixed your blades and got back to bowing, then the stance, and you were off. The pace picked up from where it had dropped, she was able to keep up more now, so much so that she was able to hit you in the stomach. She was more hopeful now, but she was so hopeful that she completely forgot about the deal she set. First blood. Leave herself open. You went for her jugular, leaving a perfect cut that dripped down a small streak of red on her neck.

"Point L/n." The coach yelled out.

"Y'know, Addams, I had padding on there, realistically, if we’re in an actual duel out at random, I wouldn’t have padding on." You explained.

"Take it off then." She quickly blurted

"Hm. Alright then!"

With haste, you quickly took off the top padding. This was very much illegal in the rule book, but who cares? This was getting interesting, and Wednesday followed suit. There was your school's white button-up under it. Once you got situated, the deal was still on, and the regular steps occurred. The two of you were faster than before, but it was fast for you to land a blow just on her chest. She completely paused, and blood leaked right above where her heartbeat was. A rapid flow of blood stained the button-up; her heartbeat was racing; she was definitely overworked, but this was different, she enjoyed this duel, of course, not the loss but this. Wednesday couldn’t explain why it was frustrating her.

"You’re terrific Wednesday. I hope I can duel you later again, but I must go." You explained.

Picking up your stuff and putting it back into its respectable spots, Wednesday watched a little confused as you left abruptly. She looked around for a second, watching everyone go back to practicing. The raven-haired girl went to check on her cuts, but they were completely gone—not a stain, not a scar, just a tiny hole in her shirt.

Help decide the fate of Night City by voting for the new mayor of Night City. You can choose to read the propaganda or cast your vote randomly, but only you can decide the fate of my dear friends

Night City hasn't had a mayor in 19 years, instead, it has been run by a Council of Representatives of each of the major brands that own a share of the city, but recently there's been a call for an election for a singular body to be at the head of the city, as the people of Night City have come to believe the council to be corrupt (and yeah, they think electing one of those said corrupt fucks into office will fix things, but are you really one to judge right now?)

So, let's meet the contenders shall we

The thing I find interesting about Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is that the school is both a great tutorial and bad tutorial.

Let's start with the actual school layout I immediately noticed that all the halls are blocked and you're prompted to the room select screen. Though it seems that the entire rest of the school was removed: it's fine because just think of how annoying it would be to navigate the school. Trust me, even if it was 3 labeled halls: people will get lost.

The classes in concept are great. I myself learned about the terrastalizing mechanic and how STAB moves work. And the other little classes were fun. I also see good value in the lessons for people wanting to understand the game a better. Plus they're optional and reward you for completing the class.

But there's too much talking in these lessons.

The language class has just a guy spouting off a bunch of words in other languages and it gets really distracting. Would be cool if you selected a language and he just taught that a bit. The art class is just talking about tera types and what makes something artistic. Though it would make for a hilarious moment where at the end of the semester Hassel goes "HOLY SHIT WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN MAKING ART! Here's some crayons, now go paint the Mona Lisa or something!" Followed by an MS Paint style minigame. Then theres the home economics class which should have thrown in the sandwich minigame. The gym class should have added some battles to demonstrate the subject.

There needed to be more action in the classes to emphasize points and give more reason for participating in lessons.

You can also visit your teachers, instigating some special cutscenes once you've taken a number of classes. But they don't really have much to say normally. That kinda sucks because that would be a great place to expand on subjects that don't relate to the game like Hassel giving genuine art advice, Saguaro giving extra advice in cooking, Salvator doing a word of the day, Jacq threatening to fail you if you don't rate his app 5 stars, Dendra giving you an exercise to try once a day or Tyme teaching math tricks.

As I said: the school is a great idea and almost did it well, but made the same mistake that the trainer tips in previous games.

RANT FUN WITH VEAL TIMEEEEEE

ok so the first rantable part of this episode is 2 minutes in when after they go to a veal house and learn that baby cows are being slaughtered tmr their proactive asses +butters -cartman decide to try to save the cows so the most logical thing is to drag cartman into and sneak into his house in the middle of the night and wake him up and then they start insulting him saying “we are going to save the baby cows fatass” and “because they’re gonna get slaughtered tmr butthole” it’s like bro didn’t even do anything you wake him up and force him to do shit and then insult him for no reason and then cartman points this out and tries to go back to sleep then they try to reason with him and then butters points out that they were trying to use him and then cartman farts in Kyle’s face 🤣 and then they’re there so then they break in and then cartman says hurry up I’m freezing my ass of and then Kyle says you need to freeze some of your ass off and then cartman unprepared says at least I have an ass??? Why they talking about each others asses kyman? And then they bring the calfs that can’t walk to Stan’s house and butters bring a leg calf exerciser thinking it’s for baby cows and then stans mom the police and the baby cow rancher comes in Stan’s room so then stan just slams the door on them now Ik Stan’s just trying to be a good person Kyle’s just following Stan around and being clingy and butters and cartman were forced to do this but this is wild and then Stan’s mom being scary like all moms rapidly bangs on the door but Stan doesn’t care so then Stan says if any of you guys want out just say so so cartman says he wants out and gets shushed and then they agree to sacrifice themselves for eachother always except for cartman so then they gather the parents and Kyle’s mom is confident Kyle will open the door but he resist and then Kyle’s moms also scarily rapidly bangs on the door so then butters dad comes will butters open it or will he not find out next time on dragon ball Z

Jk so then butters prevails with a little help and then cartman being logical says what are we gonna do stand here till we starve and then Stan says their parents are bluffing and then ms cartman gives them food and Stan says he’s never eating meat again and cartman said he’d become a pussy and then feeds the cow beef jerky so then the FBI comes to clear it up what is this a tutorial on how to find out if your a MAIN CHARACTER? And then they have the neogotiator on the phone so then they give the phone to cartman as it’s no secret that he’d be the best at not getting tricked and instead tricking them with his smarts and then cartman is AMAZING at this and I think when he sees Stan getting worse and worse (with spores he got from not eating meat) he kinda starts trying more like he gets them to change veal to tortured baby cows and then the negotiator ask them to come out so cartman takes one look at Stan (with now more spores as he didn’t eat meat for a while) and agrees so then the police tricks them and follows their semi truck with Mr ward in it (which cartman negotiated along with a missle and guns) so cartman uses his 8 year old smarts and says reduce speeds to 45 and maintain distance and then the police double crosses them but it doesn’t matter BECAUSE CARTMAN GOT THE WORD VEAL CHANGED TO BABY COWS sorry I had to emphasize the cartman part when he saved the day so then Stan’s in the hospital because he didn’t eat meat and the doctor said if they waited any longer he could’ve become one giant pussy oh wait wasn’t cartman also right about that so then Stan says he learned something and ends the episode but cartman was hella smart this episode
