This lovely full-skirted floral dress with a v-neck and short sleeves with turned cuffs has been spotted twice over the years. It was first worn in the 2004 episode of Agatha Christie’s Marple: Murder at the Vicarage, where Rachael Stirling wore it as Griselda Clement. However, Rachael may have been a bit too tall for the dress, as a red petticoat, intentionally showing the last few inches below the dress itself, was added, along with a matching red belt to tie it together. The dress later appeared with a white belt and without the added petticoat on an extra in the 2022 film Mrs.Harris Goes to Paris.

Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris is about beauty and elegance and love! And how dreaming of those things is important! But also they should be available to everyone, not withheld for the elite! And also recognizing them when they’re already right in front of you! And making them for yourself!
And the motif of invisibility! the overlooked and the forgotten, and how that dovetails into the idea of being and nothingness- who we are versus how we’re perceived. Then tying those things to both age and class.
And the idea that Mrs. Harris is a cleaning lady and a seamstress-- she creates beauty every day in these little overlooked ways-- and how the closest thing the film has to a villain is the wife of the “Garbage King” who is making Paris ugly-- ruining beauty-- by cheating his workers and causing the trash to pile up.
The whole thing is sweet and lovely and heartfelt and you should go watch it.
