Some mushrooms spotted by the sidewalk on the way home earlier, which caught my eye partly because some of those caps were at least my hand's length across. There were several healthy clumps of them along the same short stretch, on both sides of the road.
So, being the genre of nerd I am, I had to veer over and take a closer gander at some of this bumper crop. The Dark Months rains have definitely started up here, and no doubt a lot of folks have been heading out somewhere to engage in the national pastime of stalking delicious wild mushrooms.
Meanwhile, my gimpy ass is over here poking at morbidly fascinating random suburban toadstools.
Which did evidently look scrumptious to something. Possibly one of the local park bunnies? 🤔
(Yeah, that's one I nudged over with a handy pen to get a better look at the undercarriage. It was already gnawed on, and looked developed enough to have likely already dropped spores. Not that there was any shortage of gigantic toadstools in the vicinity.)
At any rate, based on the photos? My best tentative ID was Paxillus involutus. Which several people elsewhere online who know much better than I would kindly confirmed. It is apparently a pretty common species. And you probably don't want to eat them--which I was not planning to try, because random roadside toadstools.

This little guy just doesn't have anywhere close to the style of Mr. Yuk. They're not mean, they're definitely not (poison) green. They mostly just look mildly distressed, ridiculous pain scale style.

Mr. Yuk is admittedly looking pretty washed out there, but that animation is as old as I am. Not looking very green either by now, just SICK SICK SICK.
(And of course I could still sing along!)
Anyway, that little bit of opportunistic naturalizing greatly improved a morning full of messing with banks, followed by our intended bus stop being closed on the way home. That little detour sent me past the shrooms.

this is a bit of an ask inspired by another ask (and also ridiculously silly) but what’s the boys’ relationship with penny like in the future?? i loved the little snippet of her at bradley’s wedding and ice trying to figure out if she’s a threat or not (and then maverick coming back from dancing and saying he couldn’t stop gushing over ice….ugh!!!) but do they become good solid friends? I like the idea of them expanding their circle now that they can trust more people…even if one of those people are one of maverick’s exes
additionally: do her and ice ever talk about their shared experiences (not sex, ice would probably keel over and die, but just…having a relationship with mav)? the thought of penny cornering him is ridiculously funny to me. or maybe they never reach that point of comfort 🤷♀️ i just need to know if she ever takes them both sailing and ice gets a chance to laugh at mav on a boat
[also, in all sincerity, I have an unhealthy amount of things to say about this series and I’m a bit sad it’s over, but I love everything you’ve done <3 I could compliment it for days on end and probably never run out of things to say]

This Green Smog Sample is an item used for an Adventure Park quest that features a sticker that looks nearly identical to the Mr. Yuk sticker, which was used during the 1970's and beyond to warn kids of poisonous chemicals.
