早期診断 // DR. DENDA // C01.001
“...I'll begin.”
Dr. Denda declares, steepling her fingers in a kind of decisive clap. The gesture echoes in a dull shudder all the way to the walls; all of the room’s tactful reluctance seems to dissipate with it, as though struck at its exact resonant frequency and shattered.
“For those ill at ease with handling corpses, here is my assessment. Keep in mind that I’m not a forensic pathologist, but these are my general medical observations to speed us along.”
(Both in public and in her own cell of the investigation, there’s been a certain reluctance to just walk up and touch the body. Not for the first time, Dr. Denda is reminded of the similarities between doctor and butcher. Once a breathing and yearning animal becomes flesh, what’s needed isn’t compassion, but a cold room and a butcher’s blade. Compassion has its place, of course, but it’s never in short supply amongst humans. Someone will need to make a broad and unforgiving primal cut: someone content with doing chilly work.)
“The file, of course, lists asphyxiation as the cause of death. Some among you may consider ‘asphyxia’ to be synonymous with ‘choking’ and/or ‘smothering’, but keep in mind that it encompasses a whole spectrum of situations where oxygen cannot be effectively inhaled. Strictly speaking, it would be more accurate to say that Mr. Hisakawa died of hypoxia… but that’s just an aside."
(That sure is just an aside!)
“Further inspection of the buccal cavity — that’s the mouth — revealed that the victim’s airways were closed. I’m sure you all observed the missing poisons, but an additional note on Mr. Hisakawa’s personal phone noted that five to six of the poison vials were missing as of two days ago. Takemoto-Mashita-san and I can corroborate: prior to the murder, we were disposing of the toxins in the infirmary, when we realized that someone had already removed several. Unfortunately, which chemicals in particular is a matter of speculation. Although it’s unclear with what, all the evidence would indicate that Mr. Hisakawa has been poisoned.
“...Any objections to this theory? Speak up now.”

Digimon Adventure + 02 ~ + Alternate Universe Thoughts & Concepts featuring Characters/Duo/Ship/{02} O.T.P: Ken Ichijouji x Daisuke Motomiya [Daisuke “Davis” Motomiya in U.S.] + Semi Canon-compliant Post-02 A.U. {Alternate Universe} + a hypothetical character arc focused on Daisuke’s personal growth & internal conflicts vs + Ken’s own developed growth since the end of 02 & where the two ‘Coincide’, to help each other learn & grow even further "I stopped being the “Kaiser” because I realized that DIGIMON weren't a ‘computer program’ like I thought," Ken said through gritted teeth. "They were 'Real’, and they had 'Feelings’, just like 'Humans’, but I didn't ‘realize’ that at the time."

...Ken’s eyes narrowed. “Now GET OUT of MY FRIENDS’ BODY!” - from Younger Me!Fic-verse, originally posted pre-2010 (a moment in which Ken faces off against a powerful Digimon) {on Ken’s own without better support available, for the first time} [and when your “{good} friend” is having something ELSE happen...]
“Temporarily” create “The Digimental of Miracles” with the Crest of Kindness Engulfed by Darkness - Qinglongmon; 02 Episode 37
"If your body hurts, you can go to a hospital and get it “fixed”, right? But if your SOUL hurts, [NO DOCTOR] CAN HELP YOU. YOU GOTTA TREAT IT YOURSELF."
- Novala Takemoto / Shimotsuma Monogatari {2004 Film}
“They {DIGIMON} may have started as simple data in a computer, but they’re ALIVE NOW.” - Mr. Haruhiko Takenouchi to Miyako; 02 Episode 33 (J.P.N Version)
Note: In my 02 semi canon compliant A.U.s, I often headcanon Ken as Bi{sexual} and/or Polyamorous, and Daisuke as some form of overall Queer. {Daisuke may also be headcanon’d as Polyamorous by me, depending on the A.U. I’m using for Daisuke.} However, in the fic I mention here, it is currently unfinished, and going through heavy revising. The original story was plotted and half-written long before Tri even debuted, much less “Kizuna” and “The Beginning”. Ken and Miyako are not quite ‘together’ yet, as the 02 Chosen have yet to graduate high school, but will soon, as they are very close to their final year of high school (taking place before the year 2012 in Digimon + 02 series canon). In this A.U., Daisuke and Ken are also not quite “together” yet, and neither has quite admitted any feelings for each other yet, but Ken in particular may still be “feeling” things around this point onwards...
(Currently, it is being heavily revised to see if my headcanons line up with what “The Beginning” eventually throws at me, so I hopefully won’t have to make too many more adjustments to its own timeline or my other headcanons.)
Stay tuned to see if I add more to this storyline in the form of possible future edits or one-shot ideas!

Hello ! 🤍 may I ask what are your favorite books? You seem to probably have the same taste as I. 🥰 and also, Which is your favorite from Nabakov ? That’s sheer curiosity ! Hope your day is lovely 🌹
Hello Sweetheart! 🌹 You have me incredibly curious as to what your favourites are now! :) Personally, I find it very difficult to make lists like this because my preferences keep shifting, I keep discovering new books and with the changing seasons, I have different favourites. (Also, sometimes I stop reading books because I enjoy them too much, i.e. Blonde or the Virgin Suicides) So this is by no means a complete list, but here are some books that I adore... 🍰🎠
~🌹~
I. Novala Takemoto — Kamikaze Girls
II. Vladimir Nabokov — Ada or Ardor
III. Thomas Mann — The Magic Mountain
IV. Shirley Jackson — The Haunting of Hill House
V. Oscar Wilde — The Picture of Dorian Gray
VI. Mikhail Bulgakov — Master and Margarita
VII. Joan Lindsay — Picnic at Hanging Rock
VIII. Patricia Highsmith — The talented Mr Ripley
~🌹~
I'm currently (and rather slowly) working my way through whatever Nabokov I can get my hands on. So far, Ada & Lolita were my favourites, but I'm extremely eager to start reading Look at the Harlequins ✨
I hope you're having a sweet day, too, and that November treats you kindly 💌

Valentine’s Day Fic: Post-it Notes
Kaminari x Reader Word Count: 2114
 (Picture sources: x, x, x, x)
Tumblr media
A sliver of sun cut across your face. Groaning, you stretched and felt the other side of the bed. It was cold as if your lover had already started his day. When your hand hit a small square of paper, you cracked one eye open and stared at the sticky note laying on his pillow.
Put on your walking shoes and bring a bag, it’s time for a little game. See you at the end :) – Kami
Rubbing your eyes, you reread the message. When you inspected the back, you found an address. This was your day off; you didn’t want to spend it tracking down your boyfriend. Rolling back over, you floundered for your phone. When you finally found it, you called his cell phone and went straight to voicemail. It was clear; if you wanted to see him again then you would have to play along.
Begrudgingly rolling out of bed, you followed Kaminari’s instructions and set off. The brisk almost-spring air caused goosebumps to form the instant you stepped outside. This had better be worth it. Walking quickly along the sidewalk, you arrived that the first address in fifteen minutes. It was an old convenience store you had frequented as a teen. Before UA changed to the dorm system, this was where you would grab snacks on your way back home. The paint looked a little worse for wear, but it was exactly how you remembered it. A shiver ran down your spine as you felt eyes glued onto your back. You searched the street but couldn’t find anyone looking at you. When you returned your attention to the convenience store, you found the owner, Mr. Takemoto, shuffling towards the door.
“Y/L/N, it’s been so long! How have you been?” he asked. He was slightly more stooped than you remember and his hair had changed from salt-and-pepper to straight grey.
“Mr. Takemoto,” you smiled pleasantly, “I’m well, how are you?”
“Fine, fine,” he said and gestured for you to join him inside, “I have something for you. A gift.” You held the door open for him and followed Mr. Takemoto inside. He carefully lifted a bouquet of daisies out of a box and handed them to you. Nestled among the white petals was an envelope.
“You didn’t have to-” you began.
“It’s not from me, it’s from a friend of yours,” he responded.
Taking the envelope out, you recognized the writing and tore it open.
Hope you remembered to bring a bag! Secrets are things you and I never kept from each other but made together. The whole squad snuck out one night. We had the munchies and wanted convenience store food. Unfortunately for us we weren’t as quiet as we had hoped. Do you recall Aizawa’s fury? He knew students had snuck out and we were all hiding in the bushes. He didn’t want to be out in the cold at three in the morning and his irritation kept growing the longer he was out there. Things looked hopeless and we were about to turn ourselves in but then you burst out of the bushes and faced him alone so we could have a chance at getting back. Aizawa kept trying to pressure you into telling him where everyone else was but you didn’t budge. You got in so much shit for that and nearly got expelled, but that took guts. You stood your ground and it was then that I knew I could trust you with anything. Daisies are for loyalty. You have my back and I have yours.
“Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens” – J. R. R. Tolkien
On the back was another address written on a sticky note. So that’s how it was going to be. You laughed silently and tucked the bouquet in your bag. At least the weather was pleasant enough for this.
“Thank you for holding on to this,” you smiled at Mr. Takemoto. He nodded and pressed a curry bun into your hand before you left.
“For old time’s sake,” he winked and shuffled back to his post behind the counter.
The next location was a bit of a trek. Streets became more crowded and buildings reached higher and higher towards the sky. Stopping in front of the tallest building in the area, you frowned at it, trying to remember why it was familiar. The black windows matched the exterior and gave the building a domineering presence; a black obelisk watching everything.
“Y/N,” a voice called out. At the entrance to the building stood Sero.
“Sero, how’re you doing?” You walked over to the man in his hero suit, clearly getting ready for a shift.
“Not bad, I didn’t expect to see you until later,” Sero laughed. He must be in on it too. “Anyways, you’ll find something for you on the roof. We can Spider-Man our way up there or we can take the elevator.” You stared up at the top of the building where a low-hanging cloud kissed the roof.
“Ah, elevator, please,” you said nervously. Sero led you inside and into the elevator. He took a keycard out of his suit and inserted it into a slot before selecting the roof. Curiosity got the better of you.
“How do you have a card for this place?” you asked.
“This is a branch of the agency I work for,” Sero pointed out.
A minute later the elevator opened and you saw the tops of all the buildings below you. You squeezed your eyes shut and walked one step out onto the roof.
“Still afraid of heights?” Sero asked sympathetically. You nodded, eyes still shut. Footsteps left the elevator and walked past you before returning. A hand gently grabbed your elbow. “I have what you need, you can look at it once we’re on the ground floor again.”
Only once the elevator doors were shut did you dare open your eyes. Sero held out a bundle of hydrangeas wrapped in white tissue paper. You accepted them and looked for another letter. The envelope was tucked at the back of the bunch of flowers. You tore it open and devoured the words to distract yourself from the rapid descent.
Remember this place, love? We sat up here until the inky night turned fire orange with coral edges and the sun broke over the horizon. You found me sitting up here when I wanted the void to swallow me whole. I remember seeing you climb up here, wind whipping through your hair and worry in your eyes. I was at my worst; full of doubt in my abilities as a hero and as a friend. You didn’t tell me to get over myself nor did you pry and push boundaries. You held me and helped me piece myself back together. Hydrangeas are for gratitude. Gratitude for being understood. You accept me as I am and for that I am eternally grateful.
“Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom” – Marcel Proust
Again, there was an address written on a Post-it note on the back. This address you knew by heart. It was an arcade where you and Denki had spent countless dates.
“Can I ask what this is all about?” Sero inquired.
“If I knew then I would tell you,” you shrugged. “So far I’ve been on a wild goose chase.” The elevator dinged and the two of you stepped out into the empty lobby. “I’ll let you know once I do find out though.”
Determined to finish Denki’s quest as fast as possible, you set off for your next destination. The sun hovered straight above you and the sidewalks were crowded with people on their lunch breaks. With the need to weave in and out of crowds, it took almost half an hour to arrive at the arcade. Another familiar face stood outside.
“Mina?” you asked hesitantly, “Are we meeting because of coincidence or do you have something for me?” The pink haired woman smiled at you and revealed another bouquet for you. The two-toned tulips she offered reminded you of another former classmate, Todoroki.
You removed an envelope before adding the flowers to your growing bag of flowers. Hopefully there aren’t too many more things to add to it. Mina peeked at the envelope but gave you space as you read it.
I hope we both remember this spot for as long as we both live. The first time I uttered “I love you” and you whispered it back to me. Most people think of roses when they think of flowers and love, but tulips are also a declaration of love.
“You are My Sun, My Moon, and All My Stars” – E. E. Cummings
A hard, plastic card tumbled out of the letter when you opened it all the way. You stared at 18-year-old you smiling. No way.
“Is that your UA student ID?” Mina blurted out. A cherry colored blush took over her cheeks and she looked away as if she hadn’t been stealthily peeking at you the whole time.
A note was attached to the back.
It ends where it all started.
“Yeah,” you laughed, “this is my old ID… I wonder if it still works…” Why was Denki sending you on a hunt for him only to end at UA?
“You going to go?” Mina’s eyes twinkled mischievously. Did she know? Or was she in the dark like Sero?
“Apparently I have to if I want to see my boyfriend again,” you raised an eyebrow at her to see if she would betray any information. She merely shrugged and watched you debate what to do. Sighing, you set off across town again towards your alma mater.
-
Outside UA’s gate, you hesitated with your card in hand. You didn’t want to set off the alarm of your card didn’t work. If this truly was the end then Denki would be waiting for you inside. The four towers loomed above you. With a deep breath, you stepped inside. Nothing happened. Sighing deeply, you wandered around the campus.
Eventually you found yourself on the path leading back to the dorms. The grounds were deserted. In the distance you could see a shape standing by the first-year dorms. Speeding up, you could make out golden hair.
“Denki?” you called. The person turned and you met the honey colored eyes of your lover. You slowed as you came within arm’s reach of him and took in his appearance. The sleeves of his navy buttoned down shirt were pushed up to his elbows and his black pants had creases you remember attempting to iron away. “What’s going on?”
“I wanted to have some fun,” he grinned and held out a final bouquet for you. On top of a dozen roses sat a little card. You plucked it from the flowers and read it.
This is the spot where I hope you say yes.
“My affections and wishes are unchanged, but one word from you will silence me on this subject for ever.” – Jane Austen
Your eyes flew up to where Denki had been standing, but now he was on one knee with a velvet box open in his hands.
“Y/N,” Denki started, “You have been by my side ever since high school. I would be honored if you would continue to be by my side for as long as possible. Will you marry me?” There was only a beat of silence but time felt like it slowed to a snail’s pace as you formed your answer.
“Yes,” you whispered. Your voice was stuck in your throat and you had to clear it before you shouted. “Yes! A thousand times yes!”
Denki took the ring out of the box and slid it on your finger. You couldn’t contain your excitement and practically tackled your fiancé to the ground. Tears slid down your cheeks and you and Denki worked on wiping them up.
“My face is leaking and it won’t stop,” you laughed as Denki’s thumb slid up your cheek. “And my cheeks hurt from smiling so much!”
Denki’s hands gently cupped your face and he leaned in slowly. His lips grazed yours teasingly before pressing against yours, slow and soft. A comforting kiss filled with love, comfort, and warmth. A kiss that conveyed all the emotions you were both feeling. When you finally broke apart tears threatened to spill down Denki’s face as well.
“We should go before the students get back,” Denki said and got up. You took his hand and dusted yourself off before walking hand in hand off UA’s campus.

R. Zamora Linmark, Rolling the R's
Published in 1997, Rolling the R's follows several adolescent Filipino characters as they navigate their sexualities, assimilation, and their relationship to community. The novel intersperses vignettes with other forms such as school assignments, scripts, screenwriting, and poetry.
Schooling and Truancy
In a section of the novel, Linmark includes report cards for Vicente, Mai-Lan, and Florante, in which their experience as second generation Filipinos challenge the school's attempt to produce the children as assimilated citizens. Mrs. Takemoto and Ms. Takara write that Vicente "has the tendency to daydream during class," needs to hand things in "on time," and tells his parents to "discourage" him from associating with Edgar and Katherine, who speak in pidgin rather than standard American English (65). The teachers require Vicente to adhere to the production line model of schooling that has become US education, where there is a strict emphasis on the timeliness and presence of the subject (as opposed to the freedom to dream of another world), rendering them available to be shaped into the ideal of a successfully incorporated subject. Importantly, it is the other children that pose the most "risk" to Vicente--Edgar and Katherine who speak in pidgin. The teachers encourage the parents to police Vicente's forms of relationality, which are vital to his self-development and emotional health, in order to discipline him as a proper US subject. Mai-lan and Florante's report cards include the same line about disassociating with their friends who speak pidgin, which is a threat to the goal of producing assimilated subjects who speak English perfectly, losing linguistic markers of their culture and community. In Racial Melancholia, Eng and Han have written that losing one's accent, one's mother tongue in the voice, is a way of losing your mother--the literal mother, the homeland, but also the "mother" community. The children's use of pidgin becomes their insistence to not lose all of the above, which the US education system detects as a form of truancy. The students may be physically present, but their selves are absent, given to their own dreams, languages, and communities.
