I've been a little stymied and thus somewhat putting off work on the new novel, Simon's chef novel, not so much because I'm blocked but more because I wanted to get Royals/Ramblers put to bed and also I was struggling a little to determine the love interest for the story.
While I often tell the Shivadh stories from dual points of view, there's usually a character I think of as the protagonist and one as the love interest -- like in Infinite Jes we knew Michaelis but I had to build Jes (my initial conception of Jes was a trans woman but I had to shift that a bit for various reasons). I've been talking to you guys about this story for a while so I had a bit of market research I guess, which started fitting things into place, but last night was the first time I sat down and just kind of thought about it for a while, so I think I'm finally starting to get her built.
Someone had mentioned they'd love to see what I believe they phrased as "a salt-and-pepper butch" which I liked, and I've been meaning to introduce more characters of color, but I also knew I wanted her to be native Shivadh, so mostly I needed to work out how to navigate her heritage. I'm going to do a bit more research as I write, but I think I've established her as a Sephardic Jew of African heritage, her family having immigrated from Tangier sometime in the 19th century and still having familial links back to Morocco. She's a chef specializing in Moroccan-Sephardic cuisine opening a restaurant on the Promenade, a she/her butch around Simon's age (mid-fifties) who has basically worked in restaurants her entire life and is now finally getting to open her own. I really like the idea of her using fem pronouns but a male name, so I've been doing some research and I think it's going to be either Jacob or Elias -- I like Elias better but there's already Eddie and Ephraim, and I'm trying not to use the same letters for names over and over (M, G, and C are ruled out, too many of them already). I suppose I could go with the unorthodox spelling Ilias, but that looks odd especially with a sans-serif font.
Anyway, now the research fun begins! Time to come up with an appropriate name for her restaurant and then get cracking on the Meet Ugly (they meet when he accosts her for her ricotta and she tells him to get bent).

On September 26th 1860 the first Open Golf Championship was held at Prestwick.
The Challenge Belt was awarded to the winner of The Open Championship in golf from 1860 until 1870. It was replaced by the Claret Jug for the 1872 Open Championship which is still being used to the present day.
The winner of the first Open Championship, Willie Park Sr., in 1860 at the Prestwick Golf Club received no prize money; instead, he was allowed to keep the Belt until the following Open Championship.
When the Prestwick Golf Club hosted the first Open Championship in 1860, the Earl of Eglinton suggested a special belt be commissioned for the event. The Belt is made from red Moroccan leather with a large silver buckle and featuring silver panels of golfing scenes with additional medallions denoting the winners and their scores.
Members of the Prestwick Golf Club purchased it from Edinburgh silversmiths James & Walter Marshall for the sum of £25 (worth approximately £3,118 in 2021). There were specific rules to govern the management of the Belt:
"The party winning the belt shall always leave the belt with the treasurer of the club until he produces a guarantee to the satisfaction of the above committee that the belt shall be safely kept and laid on the table at the next meeting to compete for it until it becomes the property of the winner by being won three times in succession."
In the 1870 Open Championship, Young Tom Morris won his third consecutive title and the Challenge Belt became his own property That left the Open Championship without a belt or trophy for the next year's winner. As a result, there was no Open Championship in 1871, and a new trophy had to be found.Prestwick Golf Club agreed to organize the tournament jointly with The Royal and Ancient Golf Club (the R&A) in St Andrews and the Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers. Together, they shared the cost of £30 for the new Claret Jug, called the Golf Champion Trophy.
The trophy was still not ready when young Tom Morris picked up his fourth Open in a row in 1872 at Prestwick. However, his name was the first engraved on the trophy ahead of it being awarded to Tom Kidd at St Andrews in 1873.
The original Claret Jug has been on permanent display at the clubhouse of The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews since 1928. The original Challenge Belt was donated to the R&A in 1908 by the Morris family and is also on show.
The current Claret Jug was first awarded to Walter Hagen for winning the 1928 Open. The winner must return the trophy before the next year's Open, and receives a replica to keep permanently.
The Open winner also receives a gold medal with their name on it. But being called the Champion Golfer of the Year for the rest of their lives might be the biggest prize of all.
There are three replicas of the jug: one in the British Museum of Golf at St Andrews, and two used for travelling exhibitions.

WHAT IS TARTOSA?
Otherwise known as, Xia’s rendition of Tartosa
Canon facts about this world are...
The name Tartosa comes from Tortosa, which is a city in Spain.
Many lots in this world have Italian names, even though not every architectural style is Italian.
It is based on various areas in the Mediterranean.
When building Tartosan lots I did initially look at images of Sicilian shops, bars, and country homes, but because I was lacking Sicilian/Italian decor and clutter, this led to me incorporating Greek and Moroccan decor. For example, my remodel of Celebrazioni d'Amore was largely inspired by screenshots of a Moroccan bar.
So here’s my worldbuilding headcanons about Tartosa...
Historically ethnically diverse, largely due to the pirates (who came from literally everywhere) who traded there way back when and had kids with locals. But not every Tartosan has the same heritage, for example, Sal and the family are more (by real world standards) Italian and Greek than one of his friends, who would be more Moroccan and Italian.
Similarly, depending on where you are in the country, the architecture and cultural influences behind them vary.
Tartosa use to have a royal family until the 1700s. The only royals still standing in the area are the Laurent Family but they’ve rebranded themselves as being apart of the wedding industry. Either way, there was a revolution and many of the wealthy and royals left for other countries.  Some members of various royal families, still in the pursuit of power, ultimately forged an organized crime syndicate.  By the 1920s to the late 1990s, they still held various positions of power over Tartosan immigrants for years. Needless to say, the Polombo’s of Newcrest come from a historically royal background.
Like EA says, sims LOOOOVE Tartosa. It’s a prime spot for honeymoons and reality tv shows. But of course, there’s always been a high emphasis on the wealthier parts of Tartosa which are modernized. The impoverished region, which retains a lot of old buildings and old-fashioned ways, has been achieving large scale interest. For example, the ancient bath house has been cleaned up and remodeled into a spa. It’s kind of sickening, but it’s bringing in money.

“I Like the Moroccan Royal Family for not being in Social Media, of course they are one of the Oldest Monarchies in the world, and they have History and Protocols. their Aura and the discreetness will have one result : the continuation of the Monarchy and it’s gonna survive for too long. I think being in Social Media only make them look useless, hungry for likes and Confirmation. the Moroccan Monarchy don’t give a damn about these kind of Stuff, they are doing their Job, respecting their People and respecting the History and Protocols.” - Submitted by Anonymous

Hussein's ex is an emirati moroccan. Her family is a closet friend to the Maktoums! She was quite younger like 8 or 9 years than him!
What else do you know? Tell me more please. I've read from different sources that Hussein and Rajwa were spotted together in the US years before their engagement.
Maybe H&R knew each other from their teenage years through Nadine. They were on and off for a while than each one of them was dating someone else. Than as Hussein said they reconnected right after Rajwa broke up with Abdul Rahman a ( and that's when they were spotted together in the US).
Honestly, Rajwa added nothing to the royal family she's a veeeery distant member of the Saudi Royal Family through her mom. Not even to Al Saud ( the ruling family) but Al Sudairy ( the family of the king's mother). She has NO POLITICAL WEIGHT or significance at ALL. Titles pass through males not females. Rajwa's MOM is not even royalty but her distant cousin is a married-in. They're not even royals by blood !!!!!!! It's only a prominent family. Jeez even MBS didn't bother attending the wedding!
Abdullah's much more wealthier than Rajwa's father. Her father can do nothing to Jordan.
If they wanted to choose a suitable bride for Hussein. They could have chosen another rich girl without controversial past!

Skippy: we all can remember how rude Meghan was to the Moroccan Royal Family, as well as their staff, when they were on that trip. We also know how rude she was to staff at Admiralty House during the Australia visit--where it was so bad that Harry had to apologize to the Prime Minister's wife and staff. That absurd overly dramatic curtsy she says that she did for the Queen in the Netflix show--if she truly did that, it was her not being shy but being intentionally insulting like a smartarse.
I am sure she didn’t actually do the curtesy like that….she was being overly dramatic to mock the very thought of having to curtesy to Harry’s grandmother!❤️

Meghan insulting the Moroccan Royal Family and ignoring protocol back in the day by u/Mistressbrindello
Meghan insulting the Moroccan Royal Family and ignoring protocol back in the day Although I've seen the red carpet fiasco previously, the first section of this video where Meghan refuses to take an offered date is new to me. Harry takes a welcome date on both occasions they are proffered as they will have been briefed on protocol as at this point they are still part of the Royal Family and are representing the UK. Given she must have been part of that briefing, why be so awkward? And is that journalist really saying "She's repugnant"?? Or is that just the OPs wishful thinking! This is part of the 2019 tour and although the video editing goes a bit awry, the first couple of minutes are interesting if you've not seen it before. post link: https://ift.tt/8lozaYW author: Mistressbrindello submitted: October 04, 2023 at 05:02PM via SaintMeghanMarkle on Reddit
