I was talking about the moomins on the phone with my mom and dad and... it went like this:
Dad: Wait what are you talking about? Who is Snufkin?
Mom: You know who he is!
Me: You don't know who Snufkin is?! (utter disbelief)
Dad: Oh yeah no, now I remember, he's that one public worker working at the same company as me! /s
So | present to you:
Public Worker Snufkin
I'm really proud of him <3

When I rediscovered the moomins as a 16-year-old I immediately started admiring Snufkin and thought of him and his way of life as the most ideal thing anyone could ever come up with. I found it really annoying that I had almost nothing in common with him.
Do you know the feeling when you do those "which character are you" quizes and then you get annoyed when you don't get the result you wanted? I've always got Moomintroll.
And I wanted to change myself so bad since I was like 11 or 12 so this fitted perfectly into what I thought I had to do: grow up, try to be more aloof and wise, leave all those parts of me behind that people around me deemed annoying, clingy and childish. Find my purpose and what I want in life and then stick to it.
I can't say I haven't changed. Nowadays I appreciate all the characters for themselves and I can also see their flaws. I've accepted the fact that the people who love you will do it despite you being annoying or irritable or even mean sometimes. Because we all have those days and moments. We're all flawed and that's okay.
I've learned a lot in Moominvalley. I'll forever be thankful to Tove Jansson for creating this world, this philosophy. I've changed so much because of it. I think I am growing on myself actually.

Alf was the flagship character of The Victor, the boys’ own comic published by DC Thomson, which ran from the early 1960s to the early 1990s – and, in its heyday, sold many hundreds of thousands of copies a week. A generation of British schoolboys was brought…

Caved in and made a Moominsona yesterday, so here's Cricket!
He/They, Cricket is a regional murmik, and is from the Lonely Mountain area. They like to aimlessly wander and travel, similar to how Snufkin does, and he often finds himself in a whole different area every single season. They have never been to Moominvalley, but that mayyyyyy change! I'm currently in the works of a short fanfic that dives into Cricket's backstory, and I may post it here if y'all are interested lol
