my unpopular tb/x fandom opinion is that both s/s and s/k have fans that can be pretty hypocritical. (and hey, let's throw in f/k as an honorary category here too.)

in the 2000s, ship wars for tb/x were rampant. while the fandom is much quieter now, s/s and s/k fans still have a tendency to write off the importance of the other relationship in the actual story.

imo, this reasoning is missing the forest for the trees.

why? because x is a series about unhealthy attachments.

this echoes in nearly every relationship, whether it's karen's unrequited affection for a happily married man or sorata's willingness to die for a woman based on a prophecy. whether it's the doomed lesbian romance of saya and tooru, or kanoe's desire to free hinoto from her dreamgazing without ever communicating this to her directly.

none of this is an accident.

so when you look at this, it's not a surprise that the main 4 (kamui/fuuma/subaru/seishirou) epitomize these conflicts...and anyone who ignores the negative aspects of any one of these relationships is overlooking some key characterization in the actual series.

This is the most momentously stupid take I have ever seen.

Sure, CLAMP is going to throw their entire story, plot, narrative, foreshadowing, themes and previously established characterisation for some random Mary Sue that spontaneously popped out of the ether.

Even putting aside the fact that they’re big believers in The One True Love, it’s just terrible writing.

Also, Subaru and Arashi have interacted for approximately 2 panels in the entire manga.

But sure, they’re going to hook up together.
