#they’re just. yeah#one day I’ll figure out eyrie’s post ARR timeline bc they are included#eyrie doing everything besides being in Mor Dhona#they are around when Moen is there though because it’s refreshing having someone new around#they like her and she picks up on it very easily that they do like her#I think about her quiet conversation in northern thanalan and how they talk a lot more after that#and how they fall into this friendship that ends all too soon#which after that eyrie spends even less time in mor dhona#I’m glad there were events to shake things up outside of eyrie’s control because they were getting close to violently shaking#things up themselves#tired of being asked to do things. feeling as if they had no choice. no one else can do this#when do they get a rest? who knows#oc: eyrie kisne#the bahamut raids were a case of a perfect distraction#from ignoring linkpearl calls#it just ended up being far more than they bargained for XD

I was gonna play Nanari a bit today, but I'm not up for doing story, so I decided I'm gonna go for a walk on Ki'to today. I want to walk through all the expansions, essentially. Which gave me an idea.
Who would be up for a walk through the world one day soon?
We could make it a walk of remembrance for all WoLs & OCs that experienced the story. Come dressed in your ARR glam, and we'll change throughout the walk. So be sure to have your glam plates ready beforehand! (I can also set up a temp. syncshell for everyone)
I also want to take group pictures in major places in each expack (So maybe Vesper Bay or Mor Dhona for ARR, Ishgard for HW, etc.) and visit our old friends who didn't make it (Rathefrost for Moen, the Vigil for Haurchefant, Zenith for Ysayle unless there's a way to get to Azys Lla by foot or [air] ship, etc.)
We'll finish up at the docks of Old Sharlayan in any DT glams we have prepared!
I could even set up a temporary discord for the event in case anyone wants to chat on vc while we walk.
Just a little chill idea I figured I'd toss out there.
If I get a majority of yes by tomorrow, I'll make a follow-up to figure out a date, and we'll go from there.

We're a month from the start of Year 6 of the FFXIV Write!
Time certainly does fly.
The FFXIV Write was started by @sea-wolf-coast-to-coast on Tumblr in 2017, originally in November. A writing event for those not trying NaNoWriMo, but wanting break perfectionism, break slumps, just write and post something, get in that groove again.
In 2017 that was something I desperately needed; I had fallen out of both Roleplay and Writing, was in a creative slump. I was in a stressful life situation that was sapping my energy and confidence. So I needed something to get me writing again, and very short, rough blurbs about Dark Autumn each day opened the floodgates for me, leading to my eventually writing about a certain damn rogue and other NPCs.
The only free day in 2017 was American Thanksgiving. In 2018, Moen added a few more free/make-ups days on weekends as well as the holiday. In 2018 my life situation had changed for the better. I decided to rough out some ideas for the WoL I had created for my own ficverse, Aeryn Striker. I was still sorting her out, but the fills formed a basis for going forward and refining. I was a raffle winner that year, and that was one of the earliest, if not the first, art I got for Aeryn from @diskwrite-ffxiv.
There was a poll, and it was decided 2019 onward would be in September. Free/make-up days were on Sundays again. I think that was also when we started using the Spreadsheet, as there got to be too many entries plus Tumblr changes made it difficult to track through the tags, and this also opened up the event off of Tumblr. That was also the first year I started using the free days to keep writing. I had so many ideas, thanks to Shadowbringers and talking about OCs with friends. I started making tentative inroads on publicly posting an OC/NPC ship, something I had never done before, thanks to the support and encouragement.
Most of 2020's fills were unrelated one-offs. One of the last prompts pulled a surprise backstory idea on me, I rolled with it for the deadline, and that was it--I thought. In 2021, that oddball prompt from the year before snowballed into a good half of the fills being related to that backstory and what that meant for Aeryn (and made Thavnair in Endwalker hilarious to me).
It still kills me when I wrote things in the years before Shadowbringers and Endwalker came out and some older content was reworked, and then I compare certain little details to my writing.
I owe the FFXIV Write a lot; I've found cool stories and the people behind them, made mutuals and even friends, and got back on track with my creativity. Most of my prompt fills have ended up on Ao3; some in dedicated FFXIV Write threads, some scattered around existing themed threads or their own standalone stories. The backstory fills from 2021 I'm wrangling into an edited, cohesive (I hope) longfic. Several have been edited after the month is over, polishing up what I wasn't able to initially. Many have been left in their original rough state. Some things may even be gently retconned/reworked by now. But I've posted something nearly every day for the month for the last 5 years of this event, and hope to again for the 6th.
So to get ready for that, over the month of August 2022, I’ll be reblogging my past FFXIV Write prompt fills each afternoon, from 2017 through 2021. On the hours between 1:00pm and 5:00pm US Central Standard Time, there'll be posts. A block of time may be empty for the 5 or so free days I did take early on. There's about 145 posts (plus a couple extras and whatever I post currently) to read in varying length and quality, to cringe at and enjoy, and maybe even inspire myself as I reread, while we prepare for FFXIV Write 2022.

lil rant in coming . kinda prompted by the event . talking about gender & the fandom & ..basically a big ramble.
the story message is so darn cute. i love that amaya can tell young people that a form of love is self love & being true to oneself & your preferences. because amaya wasn't always out as NB. in 'my verse / my none tumblr wol verse / twt verse??' they came out during shb.
cause not all queer stories start with a teen figuring this out. some people are older. but people constantly shame older queer for coming out late... personally I wanted amaya's story to be one where, when they learn to forgive themself, to be themself, they also truly stand to themself. & for them, that journey takes up to shb. that journey takes them until they are 30. ( I am a not fully out yet NB person myself & I may never really come out irl because of how german works as a language & wanting to avoid troubles ).
& dunno. the fandom sometimes does not make it easy. like i know i started writing amaya as a woman but ya know. self discovery yadda yadda. I do write amaya as sb who has been living as NB since their younger years bcs I do not trust people to be able to realize why amaya may use she/her pre-shb & then they/them.
but the amount of times ppl go "well you know amaya is still kinda a she" why. cause they have a bigger chest? cause sometimes they wear a dress? cause they do not fit a stereotype of how all NB people must be androgynous? I am sorry they do not fit into this media & fandom pushed idea of how NB people must be. People really want NB people to be like a third gender when this is exactly what we are not. Legit some people still misgender amaya in asks or while talking to me. same with aze.m/asthelios.
& also ofc the eternal dispute of "amaya appears straight" cause some of their ship are with men. sorry to say, but part of it is.... if we talk about xiv canon women, as much as i love them - they all tend to fall under a same-ish archertype. we have way more diverse masc presenting characters where it is clear the devs put more love & care into them.
moen & ysayl.e were killed off for no good reason. shtola never got the same kinda development the male scions got ( nah imma say it, if shtola had been a guy the whole lifestream thing & aether sight would have had its own arc. alas it is 'haha funny we nearly saw her naked'). the moment the devs remembered minf.ilia is a really interesting character they got so scared they yeeted her off for over an expac only to have her be dead once we reunite. yotsu.yu died too. i really like zero but i am trying so hard to not be too attached bcs the game slapped she/her on 'em so all i see is a deathflag.
i am sorry then that people feel more inclined to ship their characters with the guys then. the saving grace in all of this are the rper here tbh who grab these characters & give them so much more life ( just as an example, @astherea 's shtola is just brilliant )
just no. amaya is not a straight cis woman. amaya is a deeply queer character & just 'cause they do not follow certain expectations does not mean people got the right to insist they are not queer. & I think part of it is the fandoms general stance towards femme writers & femme ocs. people see a chest & go "oh woman. probs only want to ship" when that just ain't the case... &...like. even if. why do people act like they are personally attacked by that???
i don't have a real conclusion tbh i dunno why the event made me think of all that but it just kinda got me to ramble about this even tho this is 80% incoherent screeching at nothing.

I’ve built on the Avasayle high school AU (mostly bc I like seeing how character relationships transfer to different settings) but I eventually realized I could make high school reverse harem* shoujo bullshit for my OC Sayin so it became just backdrop for that lol. I do like some of the concepts there so here’s some stuff, minus the later Sayin's shoujo reverse harem character expansion pack
* Not sure if I can call it reverse harem since there are non-male love interests among them as well
Ava is G’raha’s adoptive elder sister after stuff happened leaving her an orphan. G’raha can’t remember a time that she wasn’t there, though
Raha had an outstandingly embarrassing chunni phase that Ava loves to bring up
Ava and piss rat hate each other over drama regarding who gets to be president of the bojutsu club. Piss rat was there first but Ava is the arguably more dedicated leader
Compromise is that they switch off, but the one who isn’t leading ends up quitting just bc they can’t stand the other
Ysayle is a student council member, but her RBF makes her unapproachable
She may or may not be pulling strings so that things turn out in Ava’s favor
Speaking of student council the other members are:
Aymeric, student council president
Alphinaud, the youngest member of the student council. A bit of an overachiever
Ava calls him “アリゼの弟さん” (Mr. Alisaie’s little brother)
Hauchefant, a popular guy commonly referred to as “Everyone’s friend”. Coordinates most school events, very enthusiastic about getting people to participate
Pretty much all msq members under are 35 are students bc it makes no sense to me how 29 y/o urianger is a teacher and 32 y/o Aymeric is a student in the manga. Equal opportunity msq character high school shenanigans. Fuck this shit the job mentors are teachers now. Tataru is still the principal though because that’s just right.
1st Years: Gaia, Ryne, Ali and Alphy, G’raha, Arenvald
2nd Years: Hauche, Urianger, Sadu, Magnai, Cirina, Moen, Lyse
3rd Years: Ava, Ysayle, Aymeric, Piss Rat, Thancred
No one ask me why Ysayle is a third year there is no way she’s the same age as Raha in canon. Ysayle is a cult leader she’s gotta be at LEAST 27.
