Pre-Transmutation Heinoustuck John Egbert Headcanons

once had a massive sweet tooth but has since grown pretty tired of sugary foods for the most part

tends to have some trouble sleeping, partially because the wind outside is always even louder once night falls but also because his dad is still up and about at all hours. on top of that it’s pretty damn chilly even inside so he tends to just pass out exhausted at his desk wrapped as tightly as possible in his blanket

related to this he has a lot of nightmares so any sleep he does get is usually rudely interrupted. not only by regular nightmares but by outside psychic influence as well.

when he was younger he used to think about what transmutation might be like with a sort of naïve intrigue but as he got older it became more real and any interest faded. after seeing what it did to his friends, any lingering fascination was dead on arrival

white noise actually tends to freak him out. he’s in a bit of sensory hell regarding not liking things being too loud but if everything’s too quiet he gets nervous something bads about to happen. if he can, he tries to have something, anything in the background. especially if it’s someone speaking. it helps him feel less alone. lots of old radio show broadcasts usually are what he ends up finding helpful

he’s got a little bit of a weakness for sitcoms about coming of age. they make the idea of the future a bit less scary, all things considered

pretty accident prone and so he tries to keep a basic first aid kit on hand if he can, though the extent of his medical care talents are Put Band-Aid On A Cut and Put Ice On A Bruise

his eyesight’s never been very good and it’s only gotten worse over the years due to poor lighting and other strain, which also tends to give him frequent headaches that he tries to nap off

if he isn’t eating sweets from his dad, he’s mostly eating microwavable food honestly because it’s quick and easy and tastes like something that isn’t sugar

plays a lot of escapism based video games

i saw that canon calls are still open and all that, so i hope you don't mind that i come right in!

hey, i'm john egbert! i'm searching for dave strider specifically, but if you remember any of this, feel free to reach out too! i'm bodily 16, but mentally 18!

i had some messy, short, black hair with tan skin and faint freckles i believe. i was shorter, and i wore a lot of dorky clothing, paired with some bracelets on occasion. i was super into coding i think, but i wasn't the best at it.

dave had lighter skin than me (i don't know if he was white), with some scars on his face and blonde hair with the roots showing through. he wore a lot of baggy clothes! i think maybe his shades were broken or cracked? i know at one point he did have to fix them.

we played a TON of games together. it was our favorite pass time! i think we all hung out before and after the game, because i remember a few in person hang outs too. i don't know what we were to each other yet (i'm guessing some kind of romantic?) but we were very close. he was pretty secretive at times and wouldn't tell me too much, but i think i knew more about him than the rest of our friend group. he really liked photography, i think maybe he had a professional camera too? either way, some times he'd mail me some photos.

the height of romance: sending each other 8bit covers of songs and deep-fried cursed meme images

they bond simultaneously through memes and through intense death-based trauma sharing

the amounts of snark between then is off the charts but it’s all meant in the sweetest way possible and they know that

a common date night consists of picking parallel earth & alternian video games to pick up a two-player session of and compare how much of the code they can break with glitches after beating the initial game

they like to talk a lot about hypotheticals, theories, conspiracies, alternative universes/timelines and similar subjects together

they impulse decided to do at home piercings. it was a disaster. they both got ear infections and were banned from going anywhere near safety pins or sewing needles ever again.

dave has on multiple occasions stolen “““borrowed””” sollux’s glasses to watch 3d movies

they literally steal each other’s clothes way too often. they no longer remember whose pants are whose cause they both wear them all equally
