Lives on the Line; Winner Takes All - Chapter 4 Preview

The Boy Who Cried Wolf

Unfortunately, as the entire team soon found out, neither scouting team that had been deployed were able to find anything. There was no other exit from the dorm, no connections to other places. No way out.

“So, we’re kind of screwed, aren’t we?” said Junpei bluntly. That wouldn’t be the way that Aigis phrased it. Perhaps Minato would agree if he was in charge, but he was currently unconscious in a hospital bed and didn’t have much of an input. Even so, Aigis could practically hear him say it.

“Not even we move quickly,” said Mitsuru. With her order, Junpei, Ken and Koromaru would be joining the rest on the front lines to search through the Abyss of Time. Aigis felt a little relief. Having more members in her squad would lead to more manpower, as well as more pairs of eyes to help in the investigation.

“What about Shinji?” asked Akihiko. Shinjiro Aragaki was one of the heaviest hitters on the team. Emphasis on the was.

Which would be why Mitsuru’s reply was: “Shinjiro is staying here. He won’t be fighting.”

Shinjiro looked at Mitsuru with wide eyes and genuine surprise. “What?”

“May I remind you that you’re still recovering from being shot with silver?” Shinjiro opened his mouth to argue with her, but a single red-eyed glare from Mitsuru was enough to get him to clamp his mouth shut. “Metis brought you down fairly quickly just by using that injury against you. You were also discharged from the hospital only a few days ago. You’re staying here. End of discussion. You’ll be able to help me search.” Shinjiro grumbled something under his breath, but there was no arguing against Mitsuru. It was a losing fight.

And so, the group was split. Shinjiro stayed behind with Mitsuru and Fuuka to search through the command room. Those that remained dove back into the Abyss of Time. Like before, all of the doors in the desert area were locked. All except one. And that was the one that they entered.

Junpei let out a yelp as something rushed past him as soon as they entered. He stumbled back into Yukari and Aigis, nearly knocking the two over in the process. It was because of that that Aigis couldn’t get a clear read on the figure. All she could pick up was that it was feminine in appearance, and a blur of auburn and pink as it ran down the hall.

“What was that?!” Junpei exclaimed as he was righted and the rest of the team flooded into the new space behind him.

“It’s… I don’t think it’s a Shadow,” said Akihiko, “but we’ve been chasing it for a while.” Aigis kept quiet. Should she really say something about it…? Before she could make up her mind, Koromaru let out a bark. He dashed off after the Shadow without a care or an order.

“Koromaru!” Ken called, but the familiar didn’t come back. The werewolf boy chased after him, and the rest of the party followed with Junpei taking to the air to move faster.

“If that thing isn’t a Shadow, then what the heck is it?!” asked Junpei

“Why are you asking us?” said Yukari, offended. “We don’t even know!”

“It’s just a question!”

“It’s a…” Ryoji began, beginning to slow and fall behind the rest. “I think it might be a Shadow, but…”

Junpei stared down at his friend, confused. “Ryoji?”

“I just…” Ryoji groaned, dragging a hand down his face. Was he frustrated? Confused? …possibly both?

“It does not seem to be the same one that we saw before,” said Aigis. While her scan wasn’t exactly clear, it wasn’t hard to piece together the similarities to one person she knew with what she had. “This one looked more like Kotone-san.” Behind her, Akihiko stumbled and nearly fell on his face.

“So there’s more than one of them?!” Yukari exclaimed. When Aigis nodded, the harpy groaned and dragged a hand down her face. “Well, that makes me feel better…”

“Y’know, being sarcastic doesn’t suit you at all, Yuka-tan,” said Junpei. “That’s more Mina—”

“Shut up.”

It's good to see you again miss Kirjo. I'm here for this little meeting. I hope my performance and such was to your liking.

"Greetings Nikumaru-san." Mitsuru nodded towards her as she sat down, paying no mind to the seat groaning. After all, most did under the vast rump of the Kirijo CEO. She paid it little heed since it had little to nothing to do with their business.

She casually glanced over a tablet she had set up nest to her, brushing a chubby finger to scroll through whatever document she had up on there.

"With feedback and statistics, you have proven yourself to be quite capable at enacting short-term changes to react well to stimuli. You communicate well to those under you and react accordingly to those above with the ability to reason with logic."

She nodded, eyes shifting back to Alice.

"You've done very well, based on what I am seeing here. Ah but please, order something before we resume talking. This is lunch as much as it is a meeting."

Mitsuru, ann, naoto walking into their S/O doing some weird shit with their stuff and slowly turning to them awkwardly and saying “I can explain.”

Mitsuru

absolutely does not listen to them in the moment and goes straight for one of her infamous executions. if they really did have innocent intentions and they explain it to her afterwards Mistsuru apologizes for her behavior but warns them not to do such a thing again without her expressed permission

Naoto

she is flabbergasted by what she caught her s/o doing and cannot look them in the eye, let alone hear whatever they have to say. Naoto pointedly ignores them for a day or two to let out some steam and rationalize the situation in her head before going to hear out s/o. if they provide an exceptional explanation she’ll forgive them

Ann

yells and demands to know what they think they’re doing to her things. no matter what s/o’s reasoning is she’s not very forgiving due to a mixture of personal pride and past experiences of sexual harassment. s/o will need to make it up to Ann somehow to get back on her good side

anyway, lets get on with it! I'm gonna do a small drabble and hope it turns out okay. been a hot minute since I played persona 3;;;

tw: general yandere content, toxic/unhealthy relationships/behaviours, mild gaslighting? maybe

You sighed softly, resting your chin on your palm. You really did have the best girlfriend. She was absolutely gorgeous, intelligent as hell, and independent. Some saw her as pretentious or arrogant because of her confidence, but it only made you love her all the more.

Still, you couldn’t help but question your relationship with her, and there was the matter that you were still in high school. It’s not like a picture perfect relationship stacks up well against odds, either. So when Mitsuru came to check on you, you couldn’t help but note the concern in her voice.

“(Y/n)? Are you alright?”

“... just thinking,” you replied lamely, a weak smile spreading across your features. You heard her walk closer and kneel in front of you as you opened your eyes. She looked genuinely worried about you, and you supposed that wasn't uncalled for.

“What were you thinking about?”

You sighed at this question and let your head drop, rubbing the back of your neck. “I- I was thinking- well...”

“...yes?”

You hardly noticed the dark undertone lacing her voice.

“Mitsuru, am... am I really the best choice? I know we’ve already been over this but-”

“(Y/n), if it weren’t for you, there is so much I wouldn't have realized.”

Day 6 of catching up on posting art!

Persona is a thing I like, with my personal favorite in the series being the Persona 2 Duology and my personal favorite character being Jun Kurosu. So naturally I drew something for his birthday on February 14th of this year.

I also did a few drawings for Persona Fashion Week (Feb 28th - March 6th) over on Twitter, with the prompts I participated in being:

>Arcana Swap, featuring Lisa Silverman as the Death Arcana

>Historical, with Misturu Kirijo dressed in an Edwardian Era inspired outfit

>Angels and Devils, two prompts I placed into one and used to spread flower child AU propaganda.

These pieces are a bit rough around the edges because I was (and to an extent still am) adjusting to a small change I made to how I drew heads but the practice was a great way to iron out those wrinkles and get a grasp on the changes!

Facing an Empress

Mitsuru Kirijo executing one Gai Amatsu - that's it, that's the fic.

Aigis and Mitsuru found themselves in a strange world.

Misturu was no stranger to being unceremoniously thrown into different worlds. Sometimes it'd be her lonesome, or other Persona users would accompany her.

This time, she was thrown into this strange but technologically advanced world with Aigis.

Mitsuru was able to start a company with her meager resources, she was able to properly catch a demand that this technologically advanced world could not provide.

And she capitalized on that.

However, this story isn't about Mitsuru's business or how she managed to turn her meager business into a buzzing partnership with a few companies in this world.

Aigis was elsewhere doing important work for the Kirijo company.

Mitsuru was walking on an equally important errand when she encountered two beings that looked like that Zephyrman spinoff of Featherman that Yukari introduced her to a few days ago. One was silver and the other was gold.

The golden being's armor vanished and revealed an adult man, being relentlessly attacked.

"Persona."

Mitsuru summoned her Persona, a giant masked lady in a ball gown appeared behind Mitsuru and tried to get a read on the silver being's thoughts.

"Stop it! Stop!"

That could only mean one thing.

The silver being was not in control of his actions.

"Niflheim." Mitsuru announced.

The giant lady behind Mitsuru slammed her whip to the ground as a pillar of ice encased the silver being's form, stopping the attack.

"Wha-"

A blue being approached and unceremoniously punched the ice pillar that Mitsuru had the giant lady encase the silver being and removed that silver being's belt, erasing the being's armor to reveal a man in a red coat, black blazer, and blue hooded shirt.

That certainly was a combination.

The man with neon green shoes collapsed as soon as the armor vanished from him.

The blue being's armor also vanished, revealing a man in a suit, while holding the belt. Mitsuru focused on the blue being a bit and found a presence not unlike Minazuki from when she was in Inaba.

"Zero one has evolved." Another woman, holding a thick rectangular object in her hand, commented.

"That's not Zero one," The man in a suit denied the claim. "It's something else entirely."

The man Mitsuru had saved earlier started laughing. A laugh, that is still giving her and former SEES members nightmares.

"The Ark is truly magnificent," The man gloated. "Now ZAIA's scenario will now reach its climax."

"I see what's going on here," Mitsuru revealed her presence to everyone involved.

"Who are you supposed to be?" The man who had been in the golden armor questioned.

"Kirijo Mitsuru, you might have heard of my business that has captured a demand that neither Hiden Intelligence nor ZAIA Enterprises has capitalized on." Mitsuru introduced herself.

"Impressive, for someone just starting out." The man scoffed.

"I'm impressed that corporate sabotage has devolved into a playground fight." Mitsuru raised an eyebrow. "I must say, it's incredibly rude not to introduce yourself after asking me for my name."

"Amatsu Gai, president and CEO of ZAIA Enterprises, and soon, Hiden Intelligence."

Mitsuru looked around, prompting the others to introduce themselves.

"Yaiba Yua, ZAIA Enterprises." Yaiba bowed.

"Fuwa Isamu." Fuwa mimicked his former superior's actions.

Fuwa and Yaiba couldn't explain why they had the sudden urge to bow at the Kirijo, they just did.

"Hi-Hiden A-aruto."

Aruto struggled to get up from the pain he's in, even with Izu's assistance.

"Do not force yourself, Hiden." Mitsuru shook her head. "You're injured."

Aruto complied with the woman's order and let Izu give him first aid.

"Izu, a secretarial humagear to help the company's president." Izu bowed towards Mitsuru before she continued treating some of Aruto's wounds and bruises.

"Regardless of your standing, Kirijo, you have no stakes here, leave."

"The moment I had deduced that this was a form of corporate sabotage, this became my problem as well," Mitsuru stood her ground. "Yaiba, I understand you were recording footage of the battle earlier?"

"Y-yes." Yaiba nodded. "Under President Amatsu's orders."

"Show me."

However, Yaiba remained rooted in her place.

Suddenly, someone grabbed the thick rectangular object from Yua's hand.

"Thank you, Aigis."

A blond girl landed beside Mitsuru and gave her the rectangular object.

The girl, Aigis, and Mitsuru viewed the video that Yaiba had recorded earlier.

"I see," Mitsuru nodded as she handed the phone back to Aigis. "If I understood the footage correctly, you did something to Hiden's belt that caused him to turn into the silver being that attacked you relentlessly."

"And what of it?" Amatsu challenged.

"Just know that I know of your modus operandi," Mitsuru stated. "You won't last long as President of ZAIA or of Hiden Intelligence once word goes out."

"Let's see you try."

Make Every Moment Last - Chapter 45 Preview

A Dreamless Sleep

By the time that they were able to get Shinjiro to the hospital, he was no longer able to breathe on his own. The doctor had told them that there was no chance of him regaining consciousness, or even surviving the silver that he had been shot with. That night, no one spoke a word.

That silence carried through to the next day. The second years were quiet in school the whole time. Kotone was tired, and Minato didn't blame her. She had poured out so much energy last night doing her best to keep Shinjiro alive. ...would it be enough, though?

As they walked out of the building — huddled together like some pack of mourning wolves — they overheard a conversation.

“Did you hear about what happened?” said a third year nearby. “Scary, isn’t it?”

“Dude, why are you telling me this? I don't even know who that Aragaki guy was,” said his friend. Hearing Shinjiro’s name come out of his mouth felt like being run over by a large truck going as fast as humanly possible. “He never came to school… Prolly just some punk.”

Kotone came to a halt, bringing the rest of the group with her.

“Shut up,” she said, no longer able to just stay quiet.

The third year turned to Kotone. “What?” he said, as if he hadn’t been shit-talking one of their number just now.

“I said shut up!” A few pink embers fell from her hair, dispersing as fast as they had formed.

“Kotone-chan!” gasped Fuuka. Minato reached over and squeezed Kotone’s shoulder. She needed to calm down before she caused a big enough scene that would require the boys in front of them and anyone else around to have their memory erased.

“No, she’s right,” said Junpei with eyes becoming more reptilian than they should’ve looked at the moment and bared teeth. “He needs to shut up.” Before he could take a step towards them, Ryoji grabbed Junpei’s arm to pull him back.

“Just ignore him,” he said, “they’re not worth it.” Junpei huffed, and even Kotone seemed to relax. The group continued on out of the building. Yukari looked around.

“Hey…” said the disguised harpy, “have any of you seen Akihiko-senpai today?”

Minato shook his head. “...I don’t think so,” he said. Actually, he was pretty sure he hadn’t seen Akihiko since they returned to the dorms last night from the hospital. Minato had never seen him so upset before… by the time they left, Shinjiro was on life support and couldn’t have any visitors. alone in a place like that… Minato can see why he’d be upset. “Why?”

“He was absent this morning, and I was wondering if he showed up at all. I hope he’s okay…” Why was she even hoping for that? They all knew that Akihiko wasn’t alright. He and Shinjiro, despite everything, had been close. What had happened must’ve hit him the hardest.

When the group made it down to the school gates, they found Mitsuru and Aigis waiting for them.

“Senpai…” said Ryoji when he noticed the distraught look on Misturu’s face, “are you alright?”

“...somewhat,” said Kirijo. She looked tired. “I understand that after last night, none of you are prepared to go back out again. ...however, when we return to the dorm, we will have to convene in the lounge for an emergency meeting… I think you know what it’s regarding…” Kotone was quiet, biting down on her lip hard enough that Minato was worried it was going to split.

Junpei sighed. “This’ll be fun…” he groaned.

“I don’t expect you to all have your thoughts collected.” Mitsuru’s hand wound around itself, her nails digging into her own flesh. Aigis had to pry them apart before she hurt herself. Mitsuru sighed. “In fact, I’m still at a loss myself, but…”

“We…” Kotone swallowed something down as she nodded. “We understand.” What had happened and a certain person’s role in it wasn’t something that they could easily ignore, after all.

Altogether, the broken team make their way back to the dorm in relative silence. Yukari looped her arm around Kotone’s shoulder in some sort of semblance of comfort.

isn't the situation with mitsuru more complicated though since grandpa kirijo was around, likely had more power over the family, and the kirijo group could do things either behind father kirijo's back or prevent him from being able to do anything about it? (which ye isn't great and could be seen as neglect but gives him more sympathy compared to Okumura)

So.....I feel like the child experiments started after the DH incident, or at least Mitsuru’s did (she says it was all to protect her father, and it only makes sense for that to happen once he’s in danger thanks to the DH)

(rest under the cut cause word vomit~! will I ever break this habit? possibly not ;3;)

Then there’s the fact I think the dad had taken control sometime after the DH started, (take this with a grain of salt but I’m going off of Wiki knowledge and it says that) Grandaddyrijo and Daddyrijo (yes I know they have names, no I’m not gonna use them cause I’m having fun 8U) ended and started reign in 1999 respectively. Need to go through again and double check tho. Tbh figured he died in the explosion but it’s whatevs. But if true that would mean the Dad was in charge when Mitsuru was experimented on.

He def seems in charge during the Answer, which would mean 1) if experiments continued with Mitsuru after she awakened (I mean she’s a prime specimen I’d be more surprised if they didn’t), 2) He is obvie totally ok with keeping around the crazy people in the Ergo department (crazy is what the game uses, and yeah the guy is off his rocker, and we know fully well all the sins the Ergo division has committed).

Now between Okumura (Daddymura?) and Daddyrijo? Daddyrijo all the way, he’s def the lesser of two evils and def has a better goal in mind.

But.....here’s the thing. Ignoring......the way the game frames him (partially cause of Mitsuru’s biased), and we take a step back, and look at what he does. He’s def a grey character. He seems to be the “for the greater good” kinda guy. He talks about how “it’s such a shame that children have to fix what us adults have broken” (hey isn’t this how P2IS’ timeline got screwed? 8U Wasn’t the message that adults need to get their shit together and not force this onto children? eh? eh? ok, well at least the game is going for the “yeah that’s whack” but it’s just funny).

Anyway he spouts that all the damn time and it’s like.......I dunno......his words feels a bit empty. By which I mean, we’re supposed to feel somber and how he’s regretful for it......yet he allowed his daughter to get experimented on. He allowed his daughter to be put into danger in the first place (maybe he knew it could help spark the Persona?). I do think he loves his daughter (not enough to get her a better fiance but I digress 030 jk jk), and I think he also hates the DH and wants to fix the world. But I also think he’s a cold SOB who will allow his daughter to suffer like that under the pretense of “you have to fix our family name” bs and will gather every nearby 5th grader and dog so that this world can end.

I mean seeing this shows Mitsuru does take after him (albeit she is a lot more compassionate and less extreme thank god). That being said, while this guy let’s his own daughter be experimented on to save the world (possibly among other things). Mitsuru asked a bunch of teens that, CAN ALREADY DEFEND THEMSELVES MIND YOU, if they wanna join a club to get rid of a shitty situation they’ve kinda been dragged into whether they take her offer or not (aka they can either just sit around and be afraid or they can help other people like them get rid of the DH).

But back to the dad, I feel like his “for the greater good” tendencies might be overlooked/pushed aside cause of Mitsuru’s idealization of him. Which is a shame cause we could’ve had a more grey/complex dynamic.....but that would require having to push Mitsuru to the forefront more (and I feel like Atlus loves to water her and Aki down and as much as possible).

And that’s kinda why I wanna look into it more (see how much hidden dialogue I can find as well as supplementary material). There’s a lotta sus implications Atlus gave us in regards to him, regardless if Atlus intended us to view him that way. (ex: kinda like how Makoto only seems to get violent outside of battle with her friends, but can’t lift a finger to save herself, that’s some pretty bad implications even tho Atlus most likely doesn’t mean for it to mean THAT....BUT HERE WE ARE! how dare you atlus, right in front of my salad. ;w; btw only chose Makoto cause it’s the quickest to explain and easiest to remember “bad implication” example I can bust out, it’s less it being against Makoto and more “really Atlus?”)

Sorry this is more of a speculation post, tbh they’ve mostly been speculation posts. I def stand by Daddyrijo>Okupapa(? I dunno vote on it, submit your suggestions, this is less of a daddy kink and more of a “fun word play way to fit their roles of father into their name thing”), but lately some stuff has been bothering me about Daddyrijo and while I think he’s on the side of “good” I do want to healthily question his actions and analyze them....... all while sobbing about why Atlus won’t dive headfirst into Misturu’s trauma *sobs* :’D

Y’know, I had a gag planned when that required Weiss to be introduced after two other RWBY Characters that I don’t think I can do anymore since Weiss got introduced before them. Maybe I can do a deleted scenes thing later…

The world of Remnant is full of many things that make it famous. From the vicious creatures of Grimm, to the Huntsman and Huntresses that are sworn to fight them, and many many more. But in this world, you’d be hard pressed to find a person who has never heard of the Schnee family.

And like any famous family, these guys are like royalty. And their princess, is Weiss Schnee.

Like many children born to great families, Weiss’ home life wasn’t that fun. Her father had high expectations for her, and she was set to just run the place… Whenever that happens. But, in defiance to her father’s wishes, she got out and joined Beacon Academy, an illustrious school where everyone can learn how to fight monsters. And once she joined a team, she put the ‘W’ in team RWBY.

But Weiss can’t just get by with money. So like most Hunters (Which is what I’m going to be calling them so that I can save some space), Weiss got herself a weapon, which Boomstick nicknamed Merc-Nasty.

This rapier is nearly three feet in length, and, much like nearly every other weapon in the show, it doubles as a gun (insert “it’s also a gun” joke here)!

Myrtenaster comes equipped with a six-slot Dust chamber. And unlike the dust in our world, the Dust in this world is special. Similar to the materia from Final Fantasy or Crystals from Storm Hawks, these all come with their own stats and effects.

Weiss is a fan of combining water and wind to create Ice Dust

But, if you’re going to fight giant shadow monsters, criminals, and godzilla dragons, you’re going to need way more than just a stick to fight them with.

Think of Semblances as “X-Men” powers. They’re all unique in their own ways. However, Weiss’ Semblance is a bit different. In the sense that instead of it being unique, it’s actually inherited through her family line. Kinda like the mark of the Joestar (Before you ask, no. No Jojo character is up next. I’m upset about it too).

Weiss’ Semblance lets her do all sorts of crazy stuff. From manipulating gravity, to time dilation, to manipulating dust.

But most impressive of all, is the summons, which lets Weiss act like Yuna from FF X and bring out monsters she’s beaten to fight alongside her. And the most powerful one of all, would be knight, the Arma Gigas… Which means “Giant Armor” in Latin.

But yeah. Weiss’ family is pretty dysfunctional, and kinda abusive at times. Her Colonel Sanders-looking dad up there cut her out of the family line, leaving her piece of shit brother as the sole heir to the company.

But if there are any physical weaknesses Weiss has, it would probably be her durability.

Aura is finite, and takes time to recharge. Sure, you’re basically invincible when you do have it, but when it’s out, you’re out. And compared to Best Girl Yang (Fight me), Weiss’ durability isn’t that great. And since using her Semblance also burns aura, she’s more likely to run out sooner rather than later.

But Weiss is pretty tough. She once managed to survive a train crash. Judging by the size of the fragmentation, and applying the appropriate mathematics, the amount of force Weiss withstood comes out to be about…

Not good enough?- Then how about the time she knocked over a giant mech that was designed to fight giant leviathan grimm?

Judging by the size of her partner beside her, Weiss’ output of force should come around to about…

And it’s unlikely that Weiss is doing this using only dust. So, by using the water, we can get an estimate as to how much energy is being used for this attack.

For those of you wondering, this translates to over 230 tons of TNT!

Forget Dust. Weiss could make a killing on giving people renewable power alone.

Weiss might not be the strongest of her team, but with her newfound family, she’s certainly proven that she is far more than just a name. And she’s out to prove that this life is hers.

Misturu′s Preview.

In the early 2000s, you’d be hard pressed to find anyone in Japan who hasn’t heard of the Kirjio group, a global conglomerate that was involved in nearly every aspect of daily life. .

And just like any other major company like this, they had a family. And this princess, was known as Mitsuru Kirijo

One day, Mitsuru’s Grandfather was experimenting with some sort of mental world called “The Mind Place.” Officially known as “The collective unconscious.” Because companies doing shady business deals is apparently something we should expect. When is news going to break out that Disney does have their founder’s head in a jar?

Anyways, the Mind Place connects every living being’s subconscious mind. Things known as “Shadows” lived there.

These things are basically demons. But if you want to see an inner demon, you find a person’s “Shadow Self.”

Surprise surprise, Grandpa Kirijo decided to try and get to the shadows for himself. But, as per usual, summoning demons never works out… Unless you play an Archfiend Deck in Yu-Gi-Oh, in which case, go nuts.

So, everything kinda went to shit because of it, and not only were the shadows released into the world to attack an unsuspecting populace, this tower thing here:

the Tartarus, arose. It’s basically the citadel between worlds. The earth was changed with a new “Dark Hour.” A period of time where everything freezes at Midnight.

Most people don’t really notice though. Time resumes as normal when it’s over, and almost nobody really notices.

Almost.

Some people can keep moving around in this time. Mitsuru is one of them. since she felt bad about her family’s company screwing everyone over, so she decided to fix it.

And while her rapier skills are certainly good, on account that she’s in the fencing club at her school, a small sword like that isn’t exactly enough to take down a bunch of evil shadows… Wait, hang on. Do both of these franchises have Heartless ripoffs?- Moving on, Mitsuru also has various abilities that she can use.

And on top of all of it, she even got a Stand Persona, named Penthesilea, which later grew into Artemisia.

With Artemisia by her side, Mitsuru has a lot of powerful ice spells that she can call upon in battle. So it’s basically a Stand except they don’t have that rule of “Only a Stand can defeat another Stand” thing going for them… Huh, note to self: Have Jotaro and Mitsuru get into an argument about terminology. Also unlike Stands, Personas can be defeated, but they’ll come back after a short time.

Similar to Stands, Personas also kinda reflect damage back to the user. But since it’s more linked to the personality rather than the soul or fighting spirit, it’s more mental stress if anything else.

Artemesia gives Mitsuru all sorts of awesome stuff. Like ice powers that could give Elsa a run for her money. It also grants Mitsuru enhanced strength, speed, and durability. In addition, it also makes her completely immune to the cold and ice-based attacks. I’d ask “Why the fur coat?” But, as we all know, Everyone needs a fur coat (And it’s a pretty nice coat). She can also sense her surroundings via analytical clairvoyance, which makes sneaking up on her pretty hard.

But, like all great heroes, nobody really does it on their own. Mitsuru created the S.E.E.S, or the “Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad.” A group of Persona users that were basically the Teen Titans, if they had Stands instead of superpowers. And, as an added bonus, it’s an after school club, so bonus extra credit!

And you might be thinking “How would one summon a Persona?” Well, since this franchise wasn’t done ripping off Jojo (I looked it up, Stands and the Stand Arrows were introduced about three years prior to Persona 1), they decided to uh… Use the Evoker… Which… Fair warning…

(I think I’ll take the Stand Arrow instead).

The idea behind the Evoker is that it evokes a strong traumatic experience to awaken a person’s Persona, similar to how Mitsuru’s first experience in summoning hers was also traumatic.

To add to the unsettling nature of this, you don’t just have it shot at you. You aim it at your face, and pull the trigger. DEFINITELY taking the Stand Arrow over that.

Anyways, with all that power, Mitsuru’s pulled off some ridiculous stuff.

Here’s an added bonus: One Persona user that could outrun a bullet fired from a Magnum. So it’s reasonable to say that Mitsuru could do this too.

If that last feat wasn’t impressive enough for you, Personas can move even faster. One of them reacted to and caught an arrow within milliseconds. And since Mitsuru defeated this user and Persona in a fight.

But if you’re looking for a durability feat, then look no further, because Mitsuru once survived an explosion.

This one to be exact.

This is easily the longest series of images I’ve had to upload in a row. And isn’t Boomstick a Poultry Scientist?- Why’d he say “I’m a scientist now.”?

Ahem, moving on. Artemisia also once helped out in icing these creepy puppet things:

Now, using the surrounding air and accounting for Nitrogen (As it makes up a good chunk of the air we breathe), we can get some calculations for this feat.

The energy output, after the calculations are done, comes to around…

Okay, forget Weiss supplying people with Power, Mitsuru’s where it’s at. Maybe she could slow down out polar ice caps from melting.

And after ending the Dark Hour and redeeming her family name, Mitsuru continued battling for people everywhere. One shadow at a time.

Not too shabby.

The Battle Itself.

Torrian and Kristina are here for animation, Weiss will be voiced by Kara Eberle and Mitsuru will be voiced by Corey Pettit, music (Winter Sonata) by Therewolf, and audio by Chris Kokkinos.

So, we just jump right into the middle of the fight. No explanations, no story build-up, no nothing. It’s just like RWBY Volume 4! Ha ha! … Sorry, I, I just, I had to get that in there… God, that was a garbage volume.

So, with swordplay looking to be about even, both sides are basically going to be relying on their other skills for this bout. Y’know, a fencing tournament getting out of hand would have been an interesting story for this fight.

So, a bit of talking later, and the fight just picks up. And it occurs to me that they should have used this as the example fight for why the “FIGHT!” soundbite shouldn’t return. Like, c’mon guys.

Back on the fight, Weiss uses her ice powers to try to give Mitsuru the cold shoulder, but as we’re already aware, that’s not very effective.

And out comes Artemisia, which Weiss manages to parry some of the attacks, and opts to get the hell out of dodge after a quick burst of fire.

The Wasp up there is then sent to fight Mitsuru’s Persona while Weiss opts to fight Mitsuru directly.

But, let’s face it. The Rapier Wasp is a Bug Flying type. So Artemisia takes it down.

And with Weiss distracted, Mitsuru then gives her a kick to the face. That’s the face of someone who was wondering why she was just standing around when there was someone trying to kill you right in front of you.

But Weiss isn’t a fan of being kicked in the face, so she uses her gravity glyphs to make some distance.

And with that distance comes…

The Arma Gigas! Let’s be real, we wanted this fight so that we could see this knight fight Artemisia. After a couple of combos where neither side seems to make any headway, Artemisia then fires some frigid projectiles towards Weiss.

Her Knight, being a gentleman, takes the blow for her.

Weiss charges (with added assistance from her time dilation glyphs) and manages to actually stab Mitsuru.

Unfortunately for her, Mitsuru doesn’t go down that easily. And she uses Artemisia to knock them both down.

Verdict + Explanation.

So, to Weiss’ credit, her versatility put up a decent fight. But she was pretty outclassed in other categories aside from speed thanks to time dilation.

But with Mitsuru’s analytical clairvoyance, that speed gap gets a lot smaller. To the point that Mitsuru’s the one that can outpace Weiss. Not that it matters, Artemisia outpaces Weiss a few times over.

Now sure, the time powers seem like an insta-win, right? Well, maybe that would give Weiss a win in some scenarios, but not all of them.

Since Weiss is extra reliant on Ice Dust, and her other Dusts are fairly lacking, Mitsuru didn’t really have to deal with fire at all. Especially since Weiss doesn’t have the best track record with fire (As we’ve seen from that fire geyser from before).

It also doesn’t help that the explosion from earlier is pretty up there in terms of destructive power. Power that isn’t really that low for anything Weiss had to really beat it out.

Using calculation provided by Boomstick (Yes, you read that right), the calculations can be made through the height of the bridge.

This puts the explosive yield to about.

And this is even accounting for the fact that the person setting it off wasn’t even planning on killing Mitsuru too.

Also, remember those big ice structures that each of them made?- Well, comparing them directly, Weiss’ energy output doesn’t come close. Even if one were to cut Mitsuru’s stat in half, on account that she had help for this feat, Weiss falls short. About a hundred times short to be exact.

At the end of the day, Mitsuru had the power, skill, and durability to take Weiss down. Sure Snow White there had versatility, but at the end of it all,

Overall impression.

I heard from a friend of mine (And I read it on the Persona Wiki) that Personas can’t really be seen by non-persona users. Whilst this doesn’t really make much of a difference since it was more exciting to see the Arma Gigas directly fighting Artemisia instead of having it flailing around while the Persona just chipped away at it, it would have been nice to have seen this acknowledged.

Also, I kinda had like… Ten jokes that I could have used for my own end quip, but I’ll just post that to my Deviantart account as a list.

Overall, the results are solid, the animation is good, and it feels well-made. Sure, Weiss’ death could have been a bit more brutal (I would have liked to have seen her shattering with the ice), but as far as underwhelming deaths go, this one wasn’t that bad.

6.9/10. It would have been higher, but we didn’t get a “Bites the Dust” reference for Boomstick’s end joke (The song, not the Stand).
