I don’t think we as a society talk nearly enough about how intricately connected cats and women are. cats are associated with women so heavily, not just in English but in other languages as well. the stereotype of the ‘crazy cat lady’, the fact words to refer to cats are often also used to refer to female genitalia, ‘cat fight’, ‘catty’, etc.
Cats have suffered alongside women, too, which is not something I have seen brought up. Cats were targeted during the Witch Hunts as well, and suffered similar fates as the women they hunted. During this time, cats were nearly driven to extinction, and the mice and rat population go out of control— which is believed to have heavily contributed if not outright caused one of the most famous plagues.
To this day, I think we need to analyze if it’s truly a coincidence that cats are often portrayed as mean or uncaring because they do not behave the same way as dogs— “man’s best friend”— that their boundaries are violated for fun and then people criticize the cat for reacting, for self-defense. They will mutilate a cat so it cannot defend itself, and then abandon it when it is understandably upset, when it can no longer feel safe.
If you look at the statistics, more cats enter animal shelters than dogs, and tend to stay for longer. Personally, my local humane societies seem to have almost exclusively cats. In part, this is because cats are more effective at reproducing than dogs, and there are very little if any resources dedicated to to TNR. This is also because people will not spay/neuter their cats, and then will abandon the cat and/or just the kittens.
I do not think it is entirely coincidental that cats are so heavily associated with women, and they are villainized for not being dogs. That dogs are called “man’s best friend”, but somehow that does not mean cats are called “women’s best friend”— instead diamonds are, for whatever reason, despite women’s shared history with cats, and shared experience of being villainized for having boundaries. They are made the villain for being cats instead of dogs, they are called uncaring and “assholes” because the way they show love is not identical to the way a dog does.
I feel like there is no way it is entirely coincidental, the way cats are hated and the way they are so heavily associated with women, with females.

In regards to the book series, I think the part I think of rewriting the most is Nightlights transformation into Jack Frost. Its no secret it's rather.. bloated in some areas.
The transformation makes me think of the life cycle of a star, moreso since Nightlights used to be stars/are made of components from stars. It'd be fascinating to see Nightlight go through such an event and resort to coming out of his isolation for help.
For example, he does indeed lose his glow and gain a solid body but much like a collapsing star; he starts getting horrid hot flashes or fevers. Nightlight could turn to Sandy or Aster and ask if they know anything about whats happening to him. Sandy knowing very little about Nightlights would suggest going to the Man In The Moon, for he might have more information.
Katherine accompanies him to help keep an eye on him and Manny has quite the reunion with his estranged guardian. He quickly realizes Nightlight is in terrible condition and offers any assistance he can. The only place he can think of that has information on Nightlights would be the remnants of the moon clipper inside his lunar home. This would show Manny's complicated feelings towards visiting his parent's former study but he'd keep himself together as best he can. Despite his underlying fear of possibly losing the only family he has left.
Him and Katherine find a journal written by Manny's father detailing what he learned about Nightlights after obtaining one. Both shocked that Nightlight has a very likely chance of dying and becoming a star again do everything they can to help Nightlight. He enters a deep sleep and his core begins to cool.
Manny gets some characterization by worrying over Jack and praying he survives. Nothing he can find says what happens if a Nightlight doesn't become a star again and its getting to him. Katherine tries to be the grounded one but both fall apart at the notion of losing him.
Nightlight eventually wakes up, maybe keeping the idea he slept for a LONG time. Manny, making sure his body was watched over and delights in his brothers awakening. Both conversing over his new form and identity.
I could go on for ages how I'd rewrite it,, but its been rotting my brain for a while.

okay, continuation of this cause brainrot go brrr
aside from allogenes not wanting to be chosen because of their duties, I think it would also depend on the part of the story the creator is currently on
example number one, kokomi and gorou
if they came home before the creator unlocked inazuma, they would both be very annoyed by them being vessels, cause they at war for goodness sake, men are dying. why are they not at the battlefield? what did they do for you to hate them so?
on the other hand after the war ended, they wouldn't mind too much if they got chosen.
(this could also apply to sara, but shes got the entirety of the tenryou commision behind her, so her absence might not be as catastrophic)
example number two, scaramouche
if you used him before he became the wanderer, start praying for the rest of your team, like, now
he would be so annoying and would relentlessly bully the other three members (if we go with the headcannon that the team is physically there each time the creator deploys them), while also cussing the creator out for forcing him to hang out with these lowlifes
also he would take it as the creator taunting him for not having any power over if he gets to be on one place or not
wanderer on the other hand, would love to get chosen
he's so happy each time you put him on your team because he's got a purpose even for a little while
he'd be so quiet and reserved at first, that the allogenes that have been on a team with him while he was scaramouche, would be extremely weary and confused
(literally anyone: wasnt he a bitch like a week ago?)

SOOOOO hi i’ve got... some tmc aus, and i think it would be fun to talk about them, i’ll talk about Monsters in Mandela au first, then Submandelaphobia au
Monsters in Mandela: This is a monster au! Most of the human cast end up being monsters and the alternates are monsters instead, theres also plot:
Gabriel is an elderitch horror disgusing itself as an angel, and it used to have literal monsters running around the county until it was sealed away in its church, only humans from the outside can break the seal to get it out, so it tricks two unsuspecting police officers into opening the church doors thinking someone inside needing help and now its escaped and theres monsters running around the county again, as well as Gabriel needing another eleritch horror to help him take over not just the county but the world
Thatcher is a werewolf, Ruth is a zombie, Cesar is a vampire, Mark is a dhampir (more humaney vampire), Sarah is a witch, Adam is a shoggoth, Jonah is a ghoul, Evelin is a gremlin, and Dave stays human
Gabriels an eleritch horror, but im taking inspo from great old ones for his inhuman design, Six is a shadowman literally melting into the dark and reappearing, Preacher is a harpy, big scary bird.
Submandelaphobia: A play on the word submechaniphobia, Mandela County but with Shadow over Innsmouth vibes. A seaside town slowly being taken over by deep ones that are also stealing townsfolks appearances to trick others into drowning. Those who survive facing a deep one go mad (haha see what i did there) and theres also ghosts n stuff, general timeline events goes
the real cesar asking mark for help and mark dying bc of this (seamonster tricked him), the murray family disappears and one of the officers sent to find them also ‘disappears’ (ruth dies), thatcher quits bc of ruth dying becomes lighthouse keeper, sarah makes bps and has adam n jonah on the team (they do a lot of underwater wreckage searches), different hand hallways thing instead its sarah n adam stuck underwater and his oxygen tank breaks (yet hes fine... wonder why) adam n jonah fight and jonah ‘disappears’, and then mandela catalyst (fish edition)
this one im still figuring out other stuff like how dave dies BUT i like it so far and i love creepy and wet horror
