"Cigarette Daydreams" was a different sound than what Cage The Elephant normally had. Brad Shultz said that "Matt had written it and played to me on his phone. He was talking about maybe using it for something other than Cage, but I was an instant fan of the song. This was a moment of realization like, ‘Why do we have to write Cage The Elephant songs? We can just write songs, regardless of what style of music they might be'"

Too Sweet - Hozier

Surprisingly we have a new #1. I thought Benson Boone would hang onto the top spot a little longer, but Hozier has appeared almost out of nowhere to take the podium with 'Too Sweet'.

This is a really interesting one, because 'Too Sweet' marks the first time Hozier has properly been back in the charts since 2015. Almost ten years! (He did admittedly have two songs chart in 2023, but they were only in the chart for a week each at #38 and #39, so they barely count).

The other interesting thing is that 'Too Sweet' is Hozier's first ever #1 in NZ. Which is crazy, right? I could have sworn 'Take Me To Church' hit the top spot, but it actually peaked at #2 back in 2014.

I though maybe the success of this song was due to Hozier's upcoming concerts in New Zealand, but it's also #1 in his home country Ireland, as well as the UK, and it's in the #2 spot in several other countries, so 'Too Sweet' seems to be a global hit.

It's a good song and I definitely like it, if not quite love it. I do think it's super cool when a musician or band reappears in the charts after a big absence though, and this is a really awesome example of that. How cool would it be if more musicians from ten years ago (or longer!) started charting again?

Who knows? Maybe next week we'll see a surprise reappearance from Milky Chance, or Nico & Vinz! Or maybe Teddy Swims will finally get that #1 he's been chasing for the last six months with 'Lose Control'. See you then to find out!
