MHA396 Spoilers
Now that AFO and All Might are fighting in mha396, I want to write a quick theory about All for One and the Doctor.
I've had this scene from mha364 in my head a lot, and most importantly how different the fan translation (left) versus the official (right) is.
One is affirmation.
The other, is a warning.
I've spoken to some friends who say that the original japanese does indeed say "may hatred NOT dwell in your heart." It is also this way in other translations, like in Spanish.
We KNOW the Doctor and AFO had been planning this for awhile. We also KNOW that AFO feels Tomura's rage, and is wanting to become one with it.
The Doctor is confessing something:
"To tell you the truth, your voice, your eyes, your smile… are so precious to me."
as if to say…
All for One,
I hope this doesn't change you...
But, it clearly has in mha396.
If you reread this whole end battle as I have, AFO becomes progressively more and more unstable, and more and more afraid.
Sure, the 'caleb' translation could mean "hey, I hope you accomplish what you set out to do" but it doesn't fit the tone, nor does it add anything like the fan translation does.
This to me is a big mistep in our own print...
