Kirby: Meta Knight and the Knight of Hades (Chapter 10)

Morpho Knight swung his sword down the slope, releasing a powerful shock wave. The crescent-shaped waves hit Meta Knight in quick succession.

Meta Knight flew left and right, but his arm was hurt and he groaned in pain. Morpho Knight didn’t even look tired.

Meta Knight remembered what happened in the underworld. In that world, he couldn’t feel tired, hungry, or pain at all. The red knight might not feel any of those feelings no matter how much he fights because of the power of the butterfly of Hades.

If so, does Meta Knight have no chance of winning…?

(No, it can’t be...) Meta Knight gripped his sword and thought. (Those who do not feel tired do not understand the breath of battle. Those who do not feel pain cannot read the movement of their enemy.)

Behind Meta Knight were King Dedede, Kirby, and Blade Knight. Both the great king and Kirby fought desperately, but they had finally lost their strength.

Only Meta Knight was standing. He didn’t know if he could get through this mess. Already, just breathing was painful and his whole body hurt.

(Good. I feel tired and painful because I am alive!)

Meta Knight gathered his strength and jumped up, slashing at Morpho Knight.

However, he repelled it easily.

Morpho Knight slashed violently at Meta Knight’s landing.

Due to his tiredness, Meta Knight, who had been struck before, couldn’t move. He held his sword over his body and guarded desperately, but the damage was great.

His head was fluttering. His eyes were hazy, and his feet were swaying.

(Will I… will I go to the underworld again? This time, forever?) When such an ominous idea came to him, something happened.

“Meta Kniiiiight!”

He heard a loud voice. Waddle Dee’s voice.

Meta Knight raised his face.

Waddle Dee overcame a broken pillar holding something.

“Don’t come any closer!” Meta Knight shouted out.

Waddle Dee turned around, gained momentum, and threw what he was holding in his hand.

“Meta Knight! Here…!”

Something flew through the air. Meta Knight quickly reached out and took it.

Immediately, Meta Knight’s whole body shook. His fatigue and pain disappeared as they were swept away. He felt the power in his hand.

“My treasured sword… the Galaxia!”

It’s unmistakable and genuine. Meta Knight held the Galaxia high. A bright light spilled from the tip of the sword.

Morpho Knight attacked. Meta Knight lightly dodged, shook up and jumped high.

“Spinning Knight!”

While spinning in the air, he slashed at Morpho Knight.

Morpho Knight flinched and was struck down.

Then, immediately, he held his sword horizontally and drill slashed!

Morpho Knight was blown off and struck against a collapsing wall.

Meta Knight had completely regained his power. The Galaxia gave him strength. And the Galaxia was also strengthened by returning to the hands of its true owner. The sword fighter and the sword, united for increased power!

However, Morpho Knight wasn’t finished.

When he stood up, he swung his sword down and sent crescent shock waves one after another. They flew with tremendous speed, but Meta Knight didn’t give up, dodging one after another, getting closer to him.

“Take this-!” Meta Knight swung after Morpho Knight.

Morpho Knight disappeared suddenly. He escaped with teleportation in an instant. Morpho Knight materialized above and behind Meta Knight.

Meta Knight looked back, feeling sick.

Morpho Knight slid in and rushed through the air.

It was tremendous speed. Meta Knight couldn’t dodge it.

“Kah…!” He was moving before he realized.

He grabbed the Galaxia, held it in front of him, and took a strong stance.

At the moment of attack…

“Galactic Counter!”

A deadly mystery that uses the enemy’s attack power against them!

There was no delay, the timing was perfect.

“...ts!” Morpho Knight stiffened his whole body and his attacks were slow.

The game was on. Meta Knight quietly stared at the enemy.

A streak of light spilled out of Morpho Knight. The lights gradually increased, two, three, and the brightness increased. His mask, his sword, and his wings on his back were swallowed by the white light. The knight turned into a ball of light and disappeared with a burst.

After the knight disappeared, countless red butterflies were dancing. The butterflies flew turbulently, fading little by little, and eventually disappeared as if melting away.

“Meta Knight…”

Meta Knight, staring at the disappeared butterflies, was called and turned around.

It was Kirby. He had been injured in the fight, but seemed to regain some energy.

“Did you win?”

“...Yes.”

“Meta Knight really is strong! I couldn’t do it at all.” Kirby looked a little sick.

Behind him, King Dedede stood up slowly. “Uh… Uugh…!”

The king, leaning on his hammer, managed to support his body and said with envy. “I was supposed to do it… I could’ve mustered the strength…!”

“Didn’t you turn and run?”

“I didn’t run off! I was getting a better vantage point!”

Blade Knight also stood up, in tears. “Meta Knight, sir, wow, you’re safe!”

“Yes. No need to worry about me.”

“But what happened? I could have sworn you were on the battleship Halberd…”

Waddle Dee rushed in before Meta Knight answered. “Meta Knight! You won!”

“Waddle Dee.” Meta Knight turned to Waddle Dee.

“I’m grateful you returned my strength with the Galaxia. Thank you.”

“I just carried it. It was the Galaxia that strengthened you…”

Waddle Dee jumped up. “Wait, we still need your help! Your knights are in a hole!”

“A hole?”

“This way!”

Meta Knight followed Waddle Dee to the knights.

The rescued knights were quiet, even surrounding Meta Knight. Everyone’s hearts were so full that no words came out.

Meta Knight opened his mouth. “It was foolish of me to worry, everyone fought so well.”

“Meta Knight, sir…!”

The Meta Knights wept as if the thread of tension had broken.

Sword Knight said. “You’re the real Meta Knight, aren’t you”

“Do I look like a fake?”

“No! You’re definitely real! There’s a big difference!”

Sword Knight saw Beryl crouching down.

Mace Knight snuck behind and grabbed Beryl’s head.

Axe Knight asked, “Let’s punish him for what he’s done. What do you think?”

“Hm…” Meta Knight thought about it.

Beryl was shaking, rattling.

Javelin Knight spoke. “Let’s tie him to the bow of the battleship and let him enjoy space travel.”

Trident Knight replied, “Why don’t we send him to Castle Dedede? Let the Waddle Dees take a break and let him do all the castle work alone!”

Axe Knight added, “No, let’s send him to all the towns he destroyed and make him fix them back up again! First, Dreamland!”

Meta Knight spoke. “That’s still too kind. Let’s tie him up so he can’t move and have Kirby perform a song for him.”

“Eh!?” Kirby was surprised. “Why do I have to sing for this guy!? What a waste…!”

“...No, trust me.” Meta Knight told Kirby. “Persuade him with your wonderful singing that he should never do anything wrong again.”

“...Eh? Persuade him?”

“Listening to a wonderful song can change someone’s mind.”

“Oh yeah… songs have the power to move hearts. I see!” Kirby was determined and nodded. “I will sing! It’ll be a moving song that will gentle the heart of any villain!”

“While you’re at it, would you like to serve your home cooking as well? You should make a special dish that will make him cry with excitement.”

“Okay! Looks like Meta Knight is kind to his enemies.”

“Waddle Dee.”

Waddle Dee, who was swaying and listening to the story, jumped up when Meta Knight called out.

“Ye...yes!”

“I’ll leave it to you. Hold Kirby a concert and set up a special seat for Beryl. Don’t forget to serve Kirby’s special dishes. Have Beryl eat until he is full.”

“Uh… uh… uh, yes…!” Waddle Dee imagined it and nodded in tears of fear.

(Me, Meta Knight…! What a terrifying thing! Kirby’s song is so terrible it could crack the walls of Castle Dedede, and Kirby’s food is so bad he could lose his appetite for the rest of his life…!)

Kirby said with a smile. “Heh, I’ll do my best! Let’s work together, Waddle Dee!”

“Ah… okay…”

“What should I sing? I have to sing with all my heart so Beryl doesn’t do bad things again… of course, I’ll do my best to cook too… Wow, I’m excited! Hey Beryl, I hope you’re looking forward to it!”

“Oh, oh. I’m sure I’ll change my mind.” Beryl was relieved and grinned.

The Meta Knights and King Dedede whispered in the shadow.

“Beryl’s acting like he’s saved.”

“How stupid, he doesn’t know the horror of Kirby.”

“Meta Knight is too cruel. No matter what he did, I’m sorry for Beryl.”

“How could sir make such a proposal…”

“Wow, he’s not kidding around! Good luck, Beryl!”

Meta Knight turned over his cloak and started walking. “Well then, let’s go back to the battleship Halberd.”

“Yes sir!” His subordinates saluted in unison and lined up.

Captain Vul and the Meta Knights were enjoying tea time leisurely for the first time in a long while.

Meta Knight wasn’t there. It seems he had something to do, so he went out without telling them where he was going.

Captain Vul was talking about, of course, Meta Knight.

Axe Knight said. “Even so, it’s strange. Why did Meta Knight, who had been unconscious on the Halberd, appear in the ancient temple?”

Captain Vul replied. “I have an idea, but I can’t quite explain it. I think…”

Captain Vul took a sip of his tea and continued.

“At that time, Meta Knight’s body and mind were disjointed. His body was in a bed in the Halberd here, but his mind was wandering somewhere else.”

“...Huh.”

“Usually, the wandering heart returns to the body. However, Meta Knight is a very strong person, so I think this time his body was called to his heart.”

“...Hmm.”

Blade Knight said. “Meta Knight has a strong body, though.”

“...Well, that is correct. However, if anything, his heart is stronger!”

“Persuasive, if not…” Sword Knight muttered.

“At that time, Galacta Knight took a big hit. Moreover, he was combined with the red butterfly to become even more powerful.”

The Meta Knights nodded.

A pleasant breeze blew and the colorful flowers swayed.

Meta Knight picked up a yellow flower and took a deep breath. It had a refreshing smell.

“It has a nice scent. Pink was… too sweet, wasn’t it?”

Meta Knight couldn’t forget Papi’s happy voice. The whole time he was trying to stop Meta Knight from returning to the original world… At the very end, he was desperate to save Meta Knight. Without Papi, Meta Knight wouldn’t have been able to return to this world.

He wondered, what was Papi doing now? Was he fluttering around looking for someone to talk to?

At that moment, a white butterfly flew by and perched on a yellow flower. It was slowly drinking from the flowers.

Meta Knight muttered in a small voice. “If one day you go to that world, let me know.”

The butterfly stopped moving, as if it had heard Meta Knight’s words.

“I’d like to thank that talkative butterfly with light blue wings. Papi was a good guide… no, a good friend.”

The butterfly fluttered away, and began to fly from flower to flower.

Meta Knight quietly watched until the butterfly disappeared.

Kirby: Meta Knight and the Strongest Warrior in the Galaxy Chapter 6

Having come outside, Sphere Doomer tried to pick up a gear rolling on the dirt. But its hands are wing-shaped and thus aren’t meant for picking things up. Kirby saw it having difficulty and realized intuitively. “You wanna gather the broken music box parts, huh? Leave it to me!”

Kirby picked up the gear and began looking for other parts as well. Captain Vul asked, having caught up to him. “What are you up to, Kirby?” “Help me, everybody. We’ll gather the broken music box parts.” “What are you doing to do by gathering it?” “Hmm, I don’t know. But it looks like Sphere Doomer wants to gather them.” “Perhaps that’s the lead to opening an extradimensional road?” “I don’t know about it, but we should gather them anyway!” Everyone began searching for the parts. As his stomach gets in the way, King Dedede has a hard time leaning over. Unable to reach the fallen object even as he tried his hardest to extend his hands, he finally lost his temper. “I’m the great ruler of Dream Land. Why do I have to look for stuff!?” “Your stomach is too chubby~!” Mocks Kirby. King Dedede yells at him. “Be quiet! Never mind your stomach, isn't your whole body plump?!” “I look good even if it does! If you’re annoyed about it, let's have a contest to see who can gather a lot of parts.” “Just what I wanted!” Kirby and King Dedede competed in gathering the parts. Dedede would order Waddle Dee to pick up the ones his hand can’t reach. Captain Vul and Meta Knight’s men also have a serious look. Captain Vul who hated losing was provoked by Kirby and Dedede’s competition. “We can’t lose to Kirby and the others. Everyone is to gather the parts! The honor of the Halberd is at stake here!” “Captain, you don’t need to honor something like that......” “Get picking if you have time to waste~!” Everyone picked up the parts in a frenzy. Their efforts paid off, and a mountain of parts were piled up before long. “We gathered them all! What do we do with this?” Kirby asked Sphere Doomer. Sphere Doomer flapped its wings and let out a high-pitched noise. They didn’t understand what it meant, but Captain Vul said. “We would need to assemble it after gathering them. Restore the broken music box......is what it’s probably saying.” “We......assemble this?” King Dedede groaned. “How on earth could we do that? Meta Knight broke it to pieces.” “Wouldn’t we be able to restore it by putting them back together properly?” Kirby picked up some of the parts, but there’s no way that he could put them together by guesswork. “It’s not possible without calling a craftsman over.” “Hmm......” It was when everyone looked at each other’s face “......Umm......” A shy voice was heard. They turn around, only to find Moa standing. He seems nervous, completely different from when he was acting high and mighty with the controller in his hands. He looked just like when he was the cowardly subordinate-in-training. Sword Knight said in a stern voice. “It’s you? You shouldn't want anything from us now. Get lost!” “Erm......I know it’s a music box, but......” Said Moa in a low voice. “I might be able to......put them back together......” Hearing that, the Meta Knights were in a huff. “What’d you just say?” “Is this one of your baloney again!?” “It’s not baloney......” Insisted Moa as he shivered. “I like to disassemble or repair machines. One time, I broke a music box my dad bought for me but was able to piece it back to how it was. So......” “Hmph, how could we believe what you say?” Captain Vul shook his head. Blade Knight nodded and said. “This is not an ordinary music box. It’s a real thing made in Halcandra, completely different from the toy you had.” “It’s my first time seeing a music box made in Halcandra, but I believe its structure is the same as any normal music box. So......” “It’s not your place to meddle in. Stay out of it!” “I want to be of help......” “We have no use for your help!” Meta Knight’s men were fierce in their anger. Their belief in his betrayal is as strong as how they worried about Moa from the bottom of their heart. And they weren’t the only ones who were deceived. He tried to take advantage of even the heart of Meta Knight who cares for his men. That was more unforgivable than anything. Turning red, Moa was about to back down with a tearful look. Seeing him, King Dedede opened his mouth. “Hmph, it’s lame to ramble on about water under the bridge.” Dedede Captain looked at Vul and the others with a disdainful look. “What did you just say!?” To Captain Vul who tried to talk back, King Dedede said bluntly. “Would it have been better if this fool actually went missing?” “......Huh?” Captain Vul and the others were startled. “We-We’re not saying that!” “Then isn’t it great? No matter how unpleasant it is, you could say that it isn’t as bad as a lackey-in-training going missing.” “Uhh......uhhh......?” Captain Vul and the others couldn’t say anything back. What Dedede said is right. Regardless of the circumstance, him coming back alive would be more preferable than that he was actually missing “Ugh......it feels like we’ve just had our arms twisted......” “King Dedede, you do have a way with words sometimes!” “I always have a way with words!” King Dedede turn to Moa. “Can you really put back the music box together?” “I’m not sure, but I’ll try.” Moa sat down and picked up the parts that were piled up.

“Yeah, it’s just as I thought. The structure is similar to the music box I have. I think I could repair this.” Moa was putting the parts together with skilled fingers. Surrounding Moa, everyone watched him and yelled in surprise. “You’re good with your hands.” “I thought you were just a cowardly liar of a boy, but you do have at least one redeeming quality.” “I was......” While piecing the music box together, Moa began sharing his story. “Very cowardly and withdrawn ever since I was young, so......I only found interest in breaking machines and repairing them.” “Hmph, so your assertiveness earlier was just a show?” Said Sword Knight mean-spiritedly, and Moa became dispirited. “......Yes. I thought Anything Controller was all I needed to not lose to anyone. I just wanted to be confident.” “You fool.” Rebuked Captain Vul. Axe Knight said. “Why did you think of something so absurd like making Galacta Knight yours? He's a warrior so dangerous that destroying a star is said to be a child’s play for him.” “I watched the movie and yearned after him.” Answered Moa bashfully. “The movie? You mean the one that says the Legendary Strongest in the Galaxy?” “Yes. I loved that movie and watched it a dozen times. Galacta Knight that appeared in the movie was really strong, cool, and was my admiration. I was completely wrapped up in the world of the movie......and came to wish......for Galacta Knight to become my servant......” Blade Knight sighed. “You were entertaining a foolish hope.” “But if Galacta Knight were to always protect me, everyone would respect me in fear, right? I’d get back on the jerks that always made fun of me, and become the greatest hero in the galaxy......was what I thought......but,” Moa shuddered in horror. “The real Galata Knight was nothing like the one in the movie. Galacta Knight from the mirror was powerful too, but the real thing was strong and scary beyond compare......” “Obviously.” “I was mistaken. I can’t possibly become strong by borrowing Galacta Knight’s strength. I saw Kirb’s battle just now and realized. ” Said Moa as he bent his back to focus on his work. “Kirb......you say......?” Questioned King Dedede skeptically, but Moa continued. “Kirb is so small and cute, but he fought so desperately against that frightening Galacta Knight and Lord Meta Knight. Not only that, but he also protected Sphere Doomer with himself as the shield. He must’ve been so scared, but Kirb never ran away......he’s so tiny and yet so admirable!” Moa is slowly moved to tears. “I was touched. I’m much bigger and stronger than him, and yet I only thought of how to rely and take advantage of others, being too scared to fight myself. I became ashamed of myself. Even Kirb who’s so small can fight so bravely......I too should have some courage......” “..................Hmmm?” Kirby stared in puzzlement. Everyone except for Kirby exchanged glances. They all whispered to each other

(Hey hey......Moa really is getting the wrong idea here.) (He thinks that Kirby’s a small, cute and weak creature......) (It’s a good thing that he doesn’t know.) Kirby is so strong that he’s sometimes called a “pink demon” with even Meta Knight acknowledging him, but...... All that aside, they should keep his misunderstanding as it is, seeing how remorseful he is. Everyone exchanged looks and conformed their opinions. Captain Vul said. “Ah......ahem. So you saw Kirby......or Kirb......ehehe......giving his all and changed your mind?” “Yes. I want to take courage so that I don’t lose to Kirb.” “I’m sure you won’t ever forget that feeling.” Captain Vul and the Meta Knights still had mixed feelings about it, but their animosity toward Moa was receding little by little. It’s hard to forgive what he has done, but his remorse seems to be genuine. Besides, this plan of his stemmed from something so childish like admiring a hero in a movie. Having realized that, they couldn’t really be mad at him. “......I did it.” Moa raised his face. “Although I can’t really fix it since the outer case has been smashed up. But I think the main part will work like this.” Everyone peered into Moa’s hands. The music box which was broken into pieces is finely put back together. “You......You’re amazing!” “You did well, Moa.” Complemented by everyone, Moa at last smiled in relief. “Then let’s hurry up and play it.” Captain Vul winded up the spring and everyone strained their ears, but: No music was heard. “Hm? I can’t hear anything.” As everyone tilted their heads in puzzlement, Waddle Dee remembered and said. “Ah, come to think of it, the owner of the antique shop said that the music box made in Halcandra makes no sound.” “That’s what it was.” Nodded King Dedede in agreement. “He said that it’s head not through ears but through heart. I knew that it’s a defect.” “No, that can’t be true. Everyone should try listening to it with your hearts.” Everyone went quiet and waited for their hearts to be filled with music. ......However: “......Did you hear anything?” “Uhhh......I don’t think it reached my heart.” “Me too!” “Nothing resounded.” Everyone’s face became troubled. King Dedede lost his temper. “So it is a defect, isn’t it. I better take that store to task!” Sword Knight said to Moa. “Moa, wasn’t it that your repair failed? Did you really fix it properly?” “I’m sure of it, sir......” Holding the music box in his hands, Moa gazed at it thoroughly and had frowned. “All the parts are where they should be......so why aren’t any sound coming out?” It was at that moment. Having been floating behind everyone, Sphere Doomer drifted over to them. Seeing him, Kirby said. “Ah, that’s it. It’s missing an important part. The Energy Sphere that Sphere Doomer ate!” “Aye, I see.” Captain Vul clapped his hands. “This music box isn’t complete without an Energy Sphere.” “But there isn’t any, sir. What should we do......” Sphere Doomer extended its wings toward Moa. “Huh......? What......?” Moa was confused, but Kirby said. “Give it the music box!” “S-Sure.” Moa held out the music box, and Sphere Doomer received it by holding it in its two wings. With it, Sphere Doomer’s body began to shine. The Energy Sphere that it swallowed is reacting to the music box. Captain Vul shouts. “Mm? What is that? The power of the Energy Sphere is pouring into the music box......?” “It’s complete-” Simultaneously as Moa whispers: Different melodies were heard in everyone's hearts. Kirby had a grin. What resounded in Kirby’s heart was a happy and cheerful melody like the finest of the sweets. King Dedede’s had a look brimming with energy. What resounded in his heart was a tune just like King Dedede, rich and valiant. Waddle Dee closed his eyes with rapt attention. A tune so warm and gente that he never heard until now was flowing only to Waddle Dee’s heart. And lastly, Moa opened his eyes widely and stood stock still. What resounded in his heart was a dark and sorrowful melody. As if depicting his lack of confidence and anxiety that he stomached up to this point. But the melody gradually quickened its tempo and changed to a cheerful tune. Moa felt like he was comforted by the music and wept. As everyone was lost in each of their music, Captain Vul spoke. “Everybody, did you hear it?” “Yessir.” Answered Axe Knight first. “A very encouraging melody echoed through my heart. The melody was very heroic and reminded me of the Halberd pushing its way through the dark universe.” “Me too.” Javelin Knight spoke up. “That’s strange. I was gonna say the exact same thing!” “Me too.” “Me three.” Sword Knight said. “Looks like we can all hear the same music!” Blade Knight nodded. “It means that our thoughts are one. Let’s go, everyone!” “Aye! All members, follow me!” Captain Vul took the lead and began running toward the palace. The Meta Knights, Sword Knight, and Blade Knight followed him as well. Those who remained kept listening to each of their music, but King Dedede came to himself. “This isn’t time to sit here like this. What happened to the extradimensional road?” Spear Doomer shines stronger and stronger, where the music box continues to play. With it, the space surrounding the music box began wavering. “Ahh......the extradimensional road is......!” Shouts Kirby. It’s the same as when Galacta Knight appeared. A star-shaped hole opened on the wavering space, and endless darkness was partially shown on the opposite side. Dedede is slightly surprised and delighted. “Alrighty, the road has opened! Let’s hurry up and defeat Galacta Knight! Then we seal him and send him back to that side!” But at that moment-a silver-colored figure flew out from the dark world. It is a new Sphere Doomer. It’s completely different from the purple Sphere Doomer that arrived first. Its whole body is silver-colored and is twice its size. “A grown-up Sphere Doomer, eh. I got it, it made its way after hearing the timbre of the music box......!” Shouts King Dedede. As though responding to his voice, the silver-colored Sphere Doomer suddenly flapped its wings vigorously. Its eyes that snapped open were filled with hostility. The purple Sphere Doomer was docile, but this is their original nature. They’re wild and like to fight. “Oh no, here it comes!” Simultaneously as King Dedede shouts, the silver-colored Sphere Doomer breathed cold air out.

Bending his body forward, King Dedede jumped aside and avoided the cold air by a hairbreadth. Waddle Dee didn’t make it, however. “AH!” Showered with an air cold enough to freeze even his screams, Waddle Dee became frozen in ice. “Waddle Dee!” Shouts King Dedede and Kirby at the same time. King Dedede clutched his hammer and went toward Sphere Doomer. “Like heck I’ll forgive you!” The king swings his hammer, and Sphere Doomer scatters stones of ice. The hammer’s attack was about to KO it, but its movement was faster. The stones of ice clung to King Dedede. His hammer held up, the king became frozen in ice just like Waddle Dee. Moa saw the spectacle and began trembling in fear.. Kirby shouts. “Run, Moa! You’re gonna get frozen in ice!” “K-Kirb......” With a pale face, Moa shook his head. “Y-Y-You should run. I-I fight here!” “Not a chance~! Hurry up and run!” “L-L-Leave it to me! I-I’ll buy you some time! Y-You should take that chance to run~!” Yells Moa with his voice trembling, spreads both his hands, and tries to fight against Sphere Doomer. But there’s no way he would stand a chance against it. “Watch out, Moa!” Shouts Kirby. Moa became frozen in ice in the blink of an eye. Sphere Doomer turned to Kirby who was the last remaining. Kirby strained his face and glared at Sphere Doomer. “How terrible of you......you froze everyone in ice!” Kirby braced himself for battle, but remembered that he didn’t have any Copy Ability and panicked. “Wahhh! I can’t fight like this!” Kirby looked all around him. The “Copy Essence Assortment” that they bought at the curio shop should be around somewhere! But the pouch was nowhere to be found. “E-Erm, pretty sure Blade Knight was carrying it......oh no, it’s still left inside the palace!” Sphere Knight relentlessly hurls stones of ice. Kirby began sprinting toward the palace in haste.

Hello, IR! I'm very interested in playing Mafia/Werewolf, but I have zero experience in acting and the game itself. I fielded this to the DMP cast since this is really a question for them:

Kikyo: Improv? And use that nervousness. That's what I do

Adric: My advice for this stuff is to just kinda forget you're playing a game. I do my best to when I play to be in the role that I've been given and just forget that DBGreece exists for a bit. It takes a lot of time to get the hang of putting the nerves aside, but eventually it should start to feel more natural it did for me at least with DMP being my only imorov experience ATM. Probably not the best advice but shrug

Queen: Well number one rule is don't keep quiet - the quiet ones always die first. But make a character who's interesting and engaging, who can lead the situation, but at the same time not cast suspicion on yourself. I always find engaging characters are more fun to interact with, whether you're working with them or accusing them. So have confidence! Don't hide in a corner, and immerse yourself in ii.

Brodingles: Regular Werewolf/Mafia doesn't really involve acting save for good ol' fashion lying, but if you're asking about DMP brand just pretend you're someone else for a while is what I do. I'm not me today, I'm Petrance Pumpernickel who likes pie and shooting. It depends on if you wanna weave a tapestry tale or just win the game how you play that. Improv is really hard, but immersing yourelf into it always helped with nervousness for me.(edited)

Alex: Yeah DMP is just Werewolf plus acting, if you aren't in a group like ours (which even in Ultimate Werewolf Legacy, is a very very rare kind of group) you don't have to worry about ACTING on the level we do. The game is about deception so a lot of it involves saying things with a straight face. Saying something believable and convincing even if it's not true is 90% of acting. If it's just playing Werewolf in a casual setting just play the game and see how others are acting. If people just go straight for the meta and don't bother with characters, great. If they do have characters see what's working and what's not. Characters don't have to be much, I've gone out with nothing but a stupid accent sometimes and people loved it.

Kikyo: Dmp, a game where lying to the face is okay.

Kristen: I mean you right

Alex: There are so many lying to the face games out there tho

Kikyo: True. This one is special to me tho.

Adric: A game of murder and lying bringing people closer, I love it.

Juno: Be like me me me and be Dedede

Kristen: The most important thing to remember is it’s just a game and also things will go wrong, whether you’re playing or narrating. Try not to get hung up on that stuff- the truth is things rarely go as they do in your head, all you can do is roll with the punches. That stuff takes practice, so... well, it’s fine, don’t worry about it. Just do your best to relax and have fun!

Since I decided to cancel this on Patreon, I’ve decided to make a Special Edition version for everyone, with week early access for Patreon Supporters. And this is the chapter that begins it all.

In the World of Kirby, Meta Knight receives the flash containing the message. Being someone who has traveled the vastness of space, he knows a week Universal Time translates to three days on Popstar. Knowing he does not have a lot of time, he gathers everyone he could. In the next day, all who he can find were gathered. Dedede and a large portion of his army was there. Blade Knight, Sword Knight and Silica were by his side as always. And Kirby, Tiff, Tuff, Lololo, Lalala, ChuChu, Knuckle Joe and Gooey were there. Anyone else he could find were either sick or busy with their own things.

Meta: I have gathered you all here for a very important reason. An entity known as the Cosmic Vizier informed me that we have to form a Ten Person team and win a competition or else his master known as Genisis will wipe out our universe.

The crowd is shocked and scared of the news.

Meta: I am already on the team, so we need nine volunteers.

Dedede: Well, all we need is me and my Army to take care of this!

Dedede turned around to see his army shivering in fear. The only one not to do so is Bandanna Dee. He salutes to indicate he is joining the team.

Dedede: Well, he's practically an army on his own.

Blade: Sword Knight and I are willing to fight by your side Meta Knight!

Silica: As will I!

Joe: You can count me in as well!

Kirby: Poyo!

Gooey: Blub!

And in such a short time, a team of one has increased to a team of nine. But after that, no one else wanted to volunteer.

Meta: No one else wish to help.

Tuff: No offense, but the rest of us just can't help.

Tiff: I can summon a Warp Star for Kirby, but outside that I can't provide much help.

Chu: And as much as I want to fight alongside Kirby, I can't keep up with all of you.

Tiff: You nine are the best fighters we have. I don't think there is anyone on Popstar who can help this team.

Meta: Hmm... Anyone on Popstar did you say...

In space, a few hours later, a strange female is floating in space. In one hand, she has a container with the remnants of the Amalgamate. In another, what appears to be a cell phone.

Susie: I'm telling you, this stuff will do wonders for your business. If you mass produce it you could...

She then spots in the distance Meta Knight.

Susie: I'll call you back. Something came up.

She hangs up and puts the cell phone away before Meta Knight arrived.

Susie: Hello Meta Knight. Finally decided to take up my offer? I have the designs for Mecha Knight++ and with a little work.

Meta: We have no time for that. Our universe is in danger and we need one more member of our team to save this world.

Susie: Wait. You're seriously forming a team with those primitives? Do you want to lose?

Meta: Those primitives as you say did defeat your father. And you know what Kirby is capable of.

Susie: Yeah, Pinky is impressive. So I take it you want one of our machines.

Meta: More precisely, you.

Susie: Come again.

Meta: Machines can only do so much unless they have the right user. And you know well and good you were more responsible for my capture than your machines.

Susie: Alright. Someone has to carry your team to victory. Might as well be me.

When the three days pass, the Team Meta Knight assembled enter the portal to their fated destinies. But it is not only their world that found it easy to assemble a team. In a world similar to Akuma’s, this world’s Kari was the one who learned the final lesson instead of Akuma. And it is Kari who received the flash.

Seto: What’s wrong?

Kari: We have to form a team or else our Universe is in danger.

In a day, she has gathered her team. Chosen by Kari is Seto: the son of herself and this world’s Akuma. Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Shadow: versions who are closer to their game version than the AkumaVerse. Metal Sonic: reprogrammed by Tails who was responsible for this world’s Akuma’s death. Ova: an entity similar to that of the Undertaker. And Seiya: a Diclonius who remains undefeated in battle.

Kari: I received a flash with a message. We must create a team of 10 to win a battle royal or else our Universe will be destroyed.

The group gasped at the news. Some looked worried while only Seiya seemed to enjoy the idea.

Seiya: This sounds fun.

Ova: Can’t we fight this thing?

Kari: For any of us to be able to, we need a lot more than the 10 of us to put up a fight. And we don’t know if these other universes will be willing to do that.

Sonic: Why not call that other universe? I’m sure that Akuma will jump at the chance at fighting something like that.

Kari: If we did that, there could be a chance their universe will be dragged into this too. And we shouldn’t risk theirs too.

Ova: Should we prepare an evacuation? In case we fail?

Shadow: Evacuate an entire universe in how many days?

Kari: 9 days.

Tails: It does seem like a tall order.

Sonic: Then that just means we can’t lose!

Kari: So for the next few days, prepare yourselves. We have a universe to save… And others to condemn.

At the end of the following day, the portal opened for Kari. This caught her off guard because she expected 10 days and not 3. She informs the others of this news and despite being off guard, they are able to arrive when called. They were hoping for more time, but they accepted that it was time and entered together.

The 7th universe in this Tournament is a world where Silver Fox came from. Specifically a world where a more powerful version took over and nearly conquered the planet. He was eventually foiled and the feud between Robotnik and the Freedom Fighters ended with a peaceful Treaty. Sally Acorn is the one to receive the flash for this Universe.

Sally thought it was of nothing, but she soon spots a small pool of water. What rose from it was the creature known as Chaos. While no one in this universe knows its purpose, it usually does arrive to help when things are at their gravest. And if it is here, then that flash was indeed true. She informed the others and while scared, they’re willing to risk their lives to save the universe. She also contacted Robotnik to aid the team. He provided a Robotic Sonic that he created to fight Silver Fox. The next day, he rebuilt the fake Sally he used in the past with some modifications for combat. What he promised was a third creation that will take more time. He was hoping to get Rotor’s help in building it since it requires two sets of hands to complete it not only in time but at all.

Near the end of the third day, the portal opens. This caught everyone unaware. With Robotnik’s final machine still needing days to create and Rotor’s aid, they are one person short. Robotnik was panicking as the others were thinking who could they get in short notice or hope that the 9 would be enough. Before settling on entering as 9, a wolf decided to step up. She was known as Lupe and since this peace treaty started, she was spying on Robotnik to ensure this was true. When she saw Sally asking for robotic aid, she soon began to spy on the Princess. She eventually found out about the Tournament and their current situation.

Sonic: Lupe! Long time no see!

Lupe: I would say the same, but that would not be true.

Bunnie: What do you mean sugar?

Lupe: I do not trust Robotnik. My Pack and I have been keeping an eye on him since we first heard of this treaty. Then I noticed you have been visiting him more frequently. And now you are here with two of his machines.

Sally: Lupe, inside that portal is a Tournament we have to win. If we don't, everything we know will cease to exist. If you truly want to protect your pack, you could help us. We are one person short and a full team is better than one less. Will you join us?

Lupe: It seems I have no choice. Besides...

She points towards Robotnik.

Lupe: Someone must make sure he does not betray us.

With the ten selected, the Freedom Fighters enter with a hope that they can return to their world.
