Having a crush on someone / being attracted to someone and someone being your first love aren't equivalent to me.

Merlin definitely had a crush on Morgana, but he also may have had a crush on Nimueh when she was disguised as Bayard's servant, and on the Lady Catrina before learning she was a troll in disguise.

Merlin is incredibly easily taken with pretty women, but none of them have made him want to throw his destiny aside and run off to live by a lake, and cry single tears of overwhelming emotion when kissing them. In fact, he hasn't kissed anyone until Freya. (Gwen kissed him in Poison Chalice, but he didn't kiss her back.)

Now if you'd come into my inbox and told me that Merlin's first love was Will and that they'd been banging ever since they hit puberty, and all of Ealdor knew about it, then we could've had a discussion.

i think its about a weird shared kinda innocence or naivety, or ASSUMED innocence or naivety. also comes from a banter line where carver having interest in merill can be inferred (dont quote me)

its like a cute, fluffy kind of ship. i like the ship because there’s something interesting about merill and carver’s dynamic. to me carver comes across as the sort of guy who doesn’t talk much, doesn’t ask much. he takes his circumstance and may complain, but rarely truly questions. with merill, being new to human civilization so to speak, she ALWAYS ready with questions and interest and curiosity. she may appear meek but is NOT. carver big and buff may appear confident and sure but (in my opinion) is NOT. i like the dichotomy of it. also there was a really nice fic i read of it and im not immune to propaganda 🤷‍♀️

not to be a bitch but like. i can never take "ohhhh kon is soOOoOoo sad about tim/ber uwaahhhh he's in love with tim but it's unrequited waaahhhh" angst seriously because like... i get it, the only thing you know about kon is that he's the other half of a popular m/m tim ship, but uh. rebirth kon is living an existential fucking nightmare. i think he's got way bigger fish to fry than whether the tim who only kind of remembers him at all is dating some other guy lmao
