Hello!

First let me introduce myself, my name is Omi. I'm the artist and I do the brunt of the writing for City of the Sun. It was created with my SO, Squiggs. A little about me! Of course my favorite things to do are drawing and writing. I also like monsters, dystopias, and I like birds and nature. My favorite music artist is Shiina Ringo, especially the album, Dai Hakken. I like a lot of manga, but my favorites are Hellsing and Dorohedoro.

The title of this cover page is "Vertigo", which is the english translation of a track by singer, Shiina Ringo: "Memai". Most if not all of things titled here are based on songs she has made. It features our main character diced into pieces. What could this story be about?

City of the Sun is a supernatural drama drenched with bloody fun, violence, and bodyhorror galore! It takes place in a world torn by economic and social distress. Set in Louisiana, cities and towns are flanked with barren neighborhoods and failing infrastructure. The main character, Rilind, is a zombie raised by Voodoo.

Wandering between various homeless camps around the state, Rilind uses the power of his magic "threads" to heal wounds in exchange for booze and cigarettes. In lieu of being alive, he instead focuses on helping anyone around in genuine need. One day he's approached by a tweaker who tells him about a camp guardian who was recently "fired" from her job under the accusation that she's been eating them, and without hesitation Rilind takes up the mission… only to realize he got more than he bargained for.

Aven is our vigilante Strigoi friend, a loyal yet childish troublemaker who's suspciously good at playing the villain. Together, the two of them go on an adventure through Louisiana meeting new friends and old enemies along the way.

May I ask how mermay works?

Of course! So Tumblr has a tradition of Mermay which is an excuse to draw a bunch of mermaids. A lot of writers have taken it on too.

It's essentially mermaid AUs of things. So you could request a Reader being a mermiad and someone finding them or a human reader finding a mermaid. It doesn't have to be fandom either; I do write OC monsters and I could totally do a mermay person.

I tend to tag them either Memay or mermiad AU if you want to do a search and see what I've done in the past. Hope this helps!

Thanks for your message!

I'm so happy to hear my art style reminds you of vintage stuff because I do want my art lean to the vibe that close to 90s-10s anime. My main inspiration of the eirin/kaguya doodle is I want to depict the stable and eternal atmosphere contrast with the ever-changing things. I make them staying in a still pose but the hair and dress flowing dynamically. Another key inspiration of this drawing is the song 'Memai (眩暈)' by Sheena Ringo. I listened to the melody of this song then came out with the idea I described :)

Notes: “Sorachika” isn’t an actual word (it is the name of a subway card tho lol), but I’ve decided to translate it as “Vow to the Sky" because, judging by the context of the song, it’s the combination of Sky (sora) and Vow (chikai)... ‘cause you know, they’re talking about swearing to the sky that they’ll be strong and all that jazz.

And So It Begins playlist

imiSome of you might know that I started a new DanganRonpa fic called ‘And So It Begins’, which happens to be an SYOC. A lot of songs have inspired my writing of it so far, as well as some of my planning, so I figured I may as well begin a playlist of sort. It is a work in progress, so more songs will be added over time, and the links (put in the song name) to the videos will also only be put in as and when I can. But yeah, I hope you enjoy: (Quick note 11/11: I have also decided to add some quick notes next to certain songs to explain why they have been chosen for the playlist, where I did have specific things in mind for them. If anyone else has interpretations of how certain songs relate I’d be all for sticking those in here too-with credits, of course)

Fantastic Youth- DAYBREAK FRONTLINE (rap arrange ver) (This song is for the happier moments in the story, particualrly those between the whole group/ larger parts of the group, and any moments that, in a different story, would have simply been carefree and youthful. Also check out this dance version, as I will be making an Ending Song chapter based on it)

Nuyuri ft flower-Proto Disco (This song is meant to be reflective of how the characters are descending down a dark path in the choices they make and the events that draw them closer to creating a killing game.)

HENSHIN ft GUMI- One Moment’s Crime (This song can relate somewhat to the system Hope’s Peak has in this story. It is also the ‘opening song’ for the story, as you may have noticed)
