reblog if you enjoy napping, being cozy, being conked out, snoozing, wrapping up in blankets, sipping a hot drink, catching some z's, hugging a plushie, or otherwise relaxing and resting

This all day long … Elena Kanagy-Loux's article is right-on. I myself have made it a point in recent years not to share any content that glibly uses the phrase, "not your grandma's " because it's a) lazy and b) dismisses the real fact that grandmothers and older textile artists have worked hard to keep craft traditions alive and evolving, not to mention their immense skills. We should be thanking them and looking to them for inspiration, not mocking them. via @hyperallergic ❤️

Places I can be found
Wandering around the Caucasus mountains in the form of a beast. Unfortunately I blend in well with the local wildlife, so it might be hard to find me. Remember to bring snacks and warm clothing on your journey- and whatever you do, don't enter Veryovkina or Krubera Cave.
Inside the Kamchatka volcano Klyuchevskaya Sopka. It is not a safe place for mortals, but if you are in close enough proximity to the volcano we can communicate telepathically. Unfortunately, as such an ancient deity from deep inside the earth, I do not speak human languages, and trying too hard to understand me may result in being stricken by divine madness. I can easily communicate with nonhuman animals as they have not forgotten the ancient language of the earth.
Frozen and dead at approximately ~8300km in the bottleneck of K2. Easy to find, if you are capable of climbing K2. Unfortunately, because I am dead, I don't really do much in this location. Leave a can of Dr Pepper by my corpse as an offering and I'll meet you in your next dream.

another thought about "gen z and gen alpha don't know how to use computers, just phone apps" is that this is intentionally the direction tech companies have pushed things in, they don't want users to understand anything about the underlying system, they want you to just buy a subscription to a thing and if it doesn't do what you need it to, you just upgrade to the more expensive one. users who look at configuration files are their worst nightmare

The one bizarre thing to me about textiles is that warp-weighted weaving is at least 6500 years old, but our oldest knitted artifacts are only ~1000 years old, and crochet 200 years old. Even though you need less equipment to knit (two sticks) or crochet (one hook) compared to warp-weighted weaving (frame, loom weights, batting, heddles). Why the big gaps between these inventions? And why did each one appear and spread when it did?
