Tempest is at once suuuuuper OP and also the living embodiment of a DMV sigh. He is the minimum wage employee’s eternal ennui. He has seen too much and been unimpressed by most of it. He has outsourced his moral compass to his best friend Caspar, and maybe one or two others on occasion. It’s probably safer that way. He has learned too many styles of magic, but he prefers to kill with his hands. If you think his name sounds like something an edgy middle schooler in need of an alias would choose, that’s almost what happened.

Meet the Blorbos: Cerris Tempescu

today we have my beloved baby boy Cerris Dalca Tempescu!

made just this year for a "Curse of Strahd" campaign DMed by my husband, Cerris was not a character i expected to get so attached to. my husband's version of Curse of Strahd is largely homebrew, using the book as a scaffold to make a much more rich and detailed and frankly more horrifying and dangerous gothic horror campaign. like, real dead dove do not eat shit. i started this campaign knowing that permanent PC death was a very real possibility, and initially i was okay with the idea of rolling a new character once or even twice. now, literally only thirteen sessions in, however, i've decided that actually no, if Cerris dies, i will not be rolling a new character. instead i'll just bring him back as some sort of undead thing. there's already so many undead beings in Barovia he really wouldn't stand out all that much--and if comics can do it then so can i!

look. listen. Cerris is a solid 80% of the reason i made this sideblog. i just love him, okay? he's my comfort character. my pathetic little meow meow. my rotten soldier, my sweet cheese, my good bad time boy.

so. how to describe him?

Cerris is basically if Clark Kent were a classic gothic hero. he's a hunky farmboy who grew up somewhat isolated from his peers because his mom was worried he got cursed by the Tempest, the local storm god, as a baby. she named him after the oak tree (quercus cerris), as the oak is held to be protective against lightning, and thus she hoped the name would protect him against the Tempest's wrath. fortunately, he was not actually cursed by the Tempest. unfortunately, he was blessed by the Tempest, claimed as an offering, as a servant on the material plane to remind people of His power and glory and to do the dirty work He's too busy for. the plaything of a god

like the DCEU Superman, Cerris has been burdened with godly power he never wanted, and holding such power has made a lot of people frightened of him. unlike the DCEU Superman, Cerris is nonetheless determined to use that power for good

and that's the state he's in when he winds up getting trapped in Barovia, an unfortunate country banished with its ruler to a demi-plane of evil called the Shadowfell. there, his naivety and heroic drive stand out, but at first, it all seems like it's going to be okay. he and his new party help people, and the dread king Strahd is tall and suave and finds them all interesting rather than a threat. Cerris even has a blossoming romance with a fiery young noblewoman named Ireena. only problem is, Ireena is the reincarnation of Strahd's sister-in-law/ex (sort of), and Strahd has unfinished business with her--and unfortunately, Cerris's naivety and heroic drive make him a very useful pawn in Strahd's efforts to finish that business

#meet the blorbos #Cerris Tempescu #aka #himbo number two #curse of strahd #dnd 5e #the brass elements on his outfit glow lighting-white when he gets into serious fight mode #it's all very dramatic #it's worth noting that the heroforge mini in this post is an old one #his appearance has notably changed since the beginning of the campaign and he's on a trajectory to become a lot more grizzled #he's already acquired some distinguished grey hairs and stubble #and tossed his shield so he can focus on dealing damage #even though that makes him much much easier to hit #don't worry i'm in the process of getting him some proper armor so this strategy doesn't kill him #and in the meantime there's always the party tank!#also yes he is bi why do you ask?#and yes he is in fact the most bottom to ever bottom #Ireena made fun of him once and he was instantly smitten #he's fully aware that Strahd is evil and hates the guy until he's actually there in person #at which point his spine completely dissolves bc Strahd is a powerful hot older man with a permanent Dom voice #part gothic hero part Clark Kent part bodice ripper heroine #dnd 5e oc #curse of strahd pc #next up:#his . . . An incident when he was little left him in a coma with fluid on the brain and a badly damaged arm. It was touch and go for a while. It happened while trailing after the older kids in the clan, he slipped and fell off a cliff edge, he doesn’t remember a thing.

Was in a relationship with Jackie and Misty. He is still very good friends with Misty, they tried to make it work between them after Jackie, but without him, they were just not compatable romantically. Is currently with River (Misty has tretened River that if he ever hurts Alvin...).

Wembley’s younger sister. Sera helps him with customising clothes and outfits to help express what he was trying to convey when he was exploring gender and it sparked Sera's love of fashion.

Argumentative, she loves a good “spirited” debate.

Hairdresser and fixer informant – Always remember to tip your hairdresser!

Spent a large part of his childhood trying to find a gender, pronouns and name that he felt fitted him. His family were always supportive (although his mom was miffed that he didn’t pick one of the names she had put on the list of new names for him). He eventually settled in he/him pronouns but even then, they don’t fell 100% right.

Has slept with Muamar. He occasionally like to sleep with his clients and Muamar was one of them, happened long before Sera met him. (She thinks it’s funny AF!)

Hates body hair (on him) the full body tattoo covers any hint of it. But he did concede that a bit of facial hair suits him.

Friends with Richard (he cuts his hair and Richard is a big tipper *wink wink*) he was there for Richard during the grey hair meltdown. Best friend, lover, enemy of Scott. He hates his face.

Scott Dodd

Orphan

Gets into lot of fights, partially because of his resting bitch face, partially because he runs his mouth off a lot.

Has had his face jewellery ripped out a few too many times, so he replaced his earlobes and sections of his lips with chrome to stop it happening again, (one time was by Wembley).

FWB with Mateo.

Best friend, lover, enemy of Wembley. He used to bully him when they were younger.

Meet the Blorbos: Indigo Sullivan

meet my first ever TTRPG character, Indigo "Indie" Sullivan!

made my freshman year of college, he was my PC for two different modern-day campaigns with the same GM (the first campaign was Monster of the Week, using The Spooky playbook; the second was Demon Hunters: A Comedy of Terrors). frankly, i adored him and didn't feel like making a new character and the potential for in-jokes with the GM was irresistible--so i just adapted him to the new setting and system! technically that makes him my first and second PC, because the two incarnations were technically different people, but the blorbo version of him that lives in my head rent-free is a composite of the two, so that's how i'll be talking about him on this blog lol

~ anyway ~

Indie is fiercely private, irreverent, and something of a nihilist, with an incredibly dry and sarcastic sense of humor. at the same time, he's also fiercely loyal, flamboyantly dramatic, and something of a romantic, with a major soft spot for kids and animals. he likes sitting on tables and windowsills and other things that weren't designed to be sat on. he does a lot of fidgeting. he's ambidextrous, queer/unlabeled, and fond of knives and daggers and other shiny things. his wardrobe includes a lot of obnoxiously colored and patterned short-sleeve button-ups and several hideous dad sweaters (many of which are thrift store finds older than he is), plus a few items stolen from friends and lovers. the fanny pack is completely unironic; he keeps it stocked with candy, dog treats, migraine relief pills, energy shots, band-aids, a phone charger, and a swiss army knife. after all, how can you trust a psychic that isn't prepared?

during the summer, Indie works as a camp counselor at North Pines Camp; during the school year, he studies psychology and stats at Grovington College (go Geckos!). in between classes and camp sessions, he also works with a demon-hunting agency called the Brotherhood of the Celestial Torch (more on his colleagues in a later post). apparently, being an ambidextrous psychic with no fewer than fives knives on his person whenever he's on call makes him a valuable asset, or something

someday he'd like to be a psychology professor, like his aunt Diana, who raised him. maybe he'll even lead a Brotherhood team at the college, help mentor the next generation of monster hunters. have a dog and a husband

but that's a ways off. he still has to earn a few degrees first--and survive the missions he's being sent on now!
