I think it would've been a lot cooler if the Samadhi fire had been actively trying to go back to Red son. Seeing as he forged it then they could've made it a thing of the fire literally being part of Red son. The fire is as much a part of him as anything else and it being taken away would've definitely weakened him significantly. What if Mei, acting as 4th ring, kept getting weird visions dealing with Red son and she can't quite figure out why. (this also would follow the idea that the visions dont start until the first ring or something as then the fire reacting to itself starts to cause them. which makes more sense narrative wise than it happening randomly at the dragon castle) The other rings react when Red son is around and when the fire is freed instead of going into Mei, Mei loses her part of the fire when it reunites and it shoots off to find Red son.
"Wait, where is it going?"
"Where it's been trying to go all along. Back to the source."
Then it's a race to see who'll get to Red son first.

Could u imagine irida, altho trained for so long to be the next leader, never believed in herself to sucessfully be chosen? how she felt when her name was called upon after all day shed been telling her older friend palina she was the one to take on duty? Could u imagine the anxiety? The feeling that she had betrayed the only person who had treated her with an ounce of care? The feeling that her entire world was shifting? How she had to keep a smile and a prideful look to appear as the correct answer, a strong new leader to lead her people? How she realizes lina and her could never be friends on equal ground? Although it was never equal to begin with?
