I do think the metaphor of Oscar being so determined to live a normal life despite his own heart and inclinations leading directly to his ruin is a potent one, and I also think that the woman and the money he is chasing both disappearing up in smoke together is narratively effective; the money has always been tied into the same thing as his desire for a wife, which is respectability and safety and security, and the idea of his blind search for that being fundamentally ruinous is I think fascinating. But I do also resent Maud being this disposable within the narrative, particularly given what a good setup they gave her throughout the rest of the season, and given that I feel like she had huge potential they have essentially tossed out for the sake of the twist.

Here's the thing . I want it to be a lavender marriage so bad . But what we know from reviews is that oscar is Not getting a happy ending in s2 (to my knowledge). So how would a lavender marriage, arguably the best possible outcome for oscar, fit into that
