I've been thinking about Terror character/actor accents and origins again today and I'd love to hear some non-British/otherwise outside perspectives on the subject at some point - might even attempt to make a poll about it.
I'm just curious!
Do you find the different accents in the show difficult to understand at any point? Are some more challenging than others? Do you think having more context on different character accents and origins would change anything about your understanding/interpretations of the show and the relationships within it?

i feel like i can’t put into words how sweet it is when the monkees all cling to Mike when they’re in a scary situation (especially davy, that kid is all bark no bite, second something’s after him he’s running to his mumma aka. Michael the goddamn string bean in a wool hat, who just gives the most exasperated face ever to the camera and waves around like grass in the wind because his skinny body can’t handle the power of a 5’3” british boy grabbing his arms)
but like, mike makes them all feel safe and it’s just so damn sweet. like, the show didn’t have to do that, but they did. they just decided that these kids need a mother and that mother is fucking mike.
i’m sorry, i just have so many feelings about it. You know peter’s like glued to his side, especially after the devil and peter tork. Mike protects them, it’s his nature, and they all feel safe with him. AGH

writing update: only two scenes left to go in chapter 6 and one of them is just like. the most self-indulgent fluffy flashback about little baby jamie imprinting on just-starting-to-be-famous-and-honestly-kind-of-creeped-out-by-rich-person-shops early career roy while he's in a grocery store in north manchester and following him around while roy's like. help i accidentally kidnapped a child (meanwhile georgie is somewhere off-screen buying one of those backpack leash things so he'll stop wandering off)

What kind of music do you think Roy and Jamie like?
The moment Roy said The Stranger by Billy Joel is a perfect album I literally kicked my feet up like a gleeful school girl. That clicked so well for me. Of course, he listens to Dad music! You know he's upset when he comes home and "Innocent Man" is blasting from the car windows. He has like 2-3 artists he likes (lbr 3 is pushing it) and has been listening to on loop for 15 years. I don't know who the other 3 musicians are but I suspect Springsteen (too American?) and Coldplay, even though they're kinda a joke in the UK now. Also Sade. Remember 80% of his playlist for Keeley was Sade songs. Most of his music is mellow. He enjoys a good showtune and Disney song, even in the trenches of toxic masculinity he would tacitly admit to this. (I suspect this was some off-screen, reluctant bonding with Ted).
Jamie obviously has a wider taste in music, shaped in part by Georgie ("Stevie Nicks? Tina Turner?" But also, like, the Spice Girls. Georgie was definitely Ginger Spice for Halloween once. And that was not the first time he'd done the N'sync Bye, Bye dance). He'll definitely listen to a little bit of everything, but gravitates towards strong pop vocalists. Dunster's playlist for him is what I suspect he'd listen to, love the Drake and Aitch, but with some old school standards sprinkled in - Queen, Tina Turner, Rolling Stones.
I never thought of Jamie being that drawn to music before this ask, outside of being a good dancer. I assumed fandom just put that on him because Dunster himself is a singer. But there are actually sooo many canon instances of him mentioning music, and he used to wear those big, quality headphones a lot in S1 that made him look like a teen tuning Ted out, he considers himself a bit of an entertainer, he's definitely a sensory type... Interesting. I underestimated that part of him.

Robert Mackie meeting up with pen-pal Morrissey in the early 80s
Prompted by Steven [Morrissey] we did what all pen-friends do— exchanged photos and agreed to meet. We decided it was best that I went to Manchester, and we joked about wearing buttonholes for identification, and as it turned out, this would have been a good idea. At the bus station in Manchester I did not immediately recognise Steven. On approaching him and introducing myself I was overwhelmed by his appearance and manner, and although he immediately made me feel very welcome, on first impressions I could not help feeling that I was out of my depth, and as a result I never felt as comfortable as I should have. We spent the afternoon shopping for writing materials and we visited a second hand clothes shop before going for a meal. His mother, to save embarrassment, had suggested we eat out, as I was not a vegetarian.
Steven's room was very neat with a bookcase containing only one shelf of records and the rest books. The record collection included Magazine, The Fall, The New York Dolls and Jobriath.
Around his room he had artwork for both his James Dean book and The Buzzcocks' Orgasm Addict sleeve. I was shown a collage of Bowie cutting[s] composed by Steven while at school for which his art teacher scored him poorly, owing to Bowie's bisexuality. That evening we went to a bar hosted by a well-known Mancunian transvestite. We talked all night, Steven turning the conversation into an analysis of my personality questioning why I wanted to work and did not hate it. He once said "I’d rather look fascinating than have a permanent income." We continued to write for a while after this. In the last letter he mentioned forming a band called Angels Are Genderless. The next time I heard from him was when I receive a promo poster for Hand In Glove by a group called The Smiths through the post. Soon after I saw him on The Tube, and the rest is Rock and Roll history.

ㅤ“ Oi, Jamie. ” Penny says it like a question, quickening her step a little to be able to catch up with him down the corridor. She doesn't spend that much time with Richmond's men's team. Not for any reason, mind, it's just how things seem to have worked out. But she's homesick, see. She's never lived so far from home before, least of all in London, and Jamie just so happens to be The Other Mancunian. It is what it is. She misses the drawl. “ Are you doing owt tonight? Summat I can invite myself along to, at least. ”
