Atelier Manassé (1922–1938) ~ Actress Thyra Winge, ca. 1925 | src Ostlicht
Although the reverse labels the sitter as “Thyra Winge” this is most likely a pseudonym for the Hungarian actress and dancer Bea Egerváry (b. 1916, date of death unknown). Egerváry had studied ballet under Emília Nirschy (1889-1976) in 1926, before starting her prolific career dancing and acting in Vienna, Berlin, Munich, Paris and Rome throughout the late 1920s and 1930s. In 1946, she moved permanently to Berlin, after which little is known about her life. (text quoted from sisters of the lens)

I have always had a profound admiration for the Studio Manasse. I'm no photographer, but they produced real magic in the 1930s. Their work appeals to my curious nature, and I'm the kind of guy who doesn't want to know the trick.
