Marcus Mariota gives perfect answer to question about QB mentorship
Marcus Mariota gives perfect answer to question about QB mentorship
Marcus Mariota says he’s willing to mentor Desmond Ridder.Image: Getty Images Yes, I understand that Ryan Tannehill clarified his comments on Malik Willis just a few days ago, but his excuse for how those words got twisted just doesn’t make any sense. “When I say that, I mean trying to help out whether it’s on the field, off the field, supporting each other, and just building those…

NFL Draft prospect Malik Willis wasn’t chosen Thursday in the first round, but the Liberty University quarterback still came away with a memorable moment.
The NFL Network referred to Willis’ companion in Las Vegas as his proud “mom” in a tweet.
The proud look @malikwillis’ mom is giving him 😭 pic.twitter.com/OIVGms9m10
But it wasn’t his mom.
“That’s my grandma,” Willis tweeted with laughing emojis.
That’s my grandma 😂😂 https://t.co/pNcD7uuSqz
The NFL Network kept its sense of humor, too.
Oops. 😅 Grandma lookin' good!
Willis, one of the top quarterbacks in the draft, is now expected to be taken in the second round.

2022 NFL Draft: Titans take on Malik Willis as fans wonder what took so long
2022 NFL Draft: Titans take on Malik Willis as fans wonder what took so long
Liberty Star is considered the first round choice Malik Willis is set to reach No. 2 overall in several mock NFL Drafts but midway through the second day, the Liberty star was still without a team. Willis proved in college he could throw a ball and run with the ball if needed. He had 2,857 yard passes and 27 touchdown passes in his final year with the Flames. He also ran the ball for 878 yards…

Tannehill 'competing against,' not mentoring Malik Willis
Tannehill ‘competing against,’ not mentoring Malik Willis
Former Liberty Flames quarterback Malik Willis routinely had his name listed in the first rounds of mock drafts as recently as last Thursday. NFL teams didn’t agree with such assessments, though, as Willis fell to the third round of the player-selection process until the Tennessee Titans chose him with the 86th overall pick. Tennessee already has veteran Ryan Tannehill atop the depth chart at the…

By Hollie Geraghty | 22nd June 2023
Niall Horan has said that he believes One Direction are still close because the band “never believed the hype”.
The Irish musician, who released his third solo studio album ‘The Show’ earlier this month, parted ways with One Direction when they split in 2016.
However, the band members – Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik – remain close, according to Horan.
“I just think we never believed the hype,” Horan said in a new interview with Sunday TODAY, after host Willie Geist noted how the boy band avoided the “fire” that has damaged other groups in the past.
He went on: “As I said, the state of shock was always there. You have to remember, it was us, our team, our bubble around us, and we just went from place to place worldwide and kind of went along with it. If you’re looking in, it must have looked crazy, and everybody’s going, ‘You’re in the biggest band!’ We were just having a great time. We always used to say we’re normal people doing an abnormal job, which is a good outlook to have.”
The singer also recalled the name of their 2014 stadium tour ‘Where We Are’, “because we always used to be like, ‘Look where we are!'”
He went on: “Every now and then you catch yourself just like looking at each other going, ‘This is nuts’.”
Horan also said that “thankfully” the feeling has never gotten old, adding: “I love it.”
The full interview is set to air on Sunday (June 25) on Sunday TODAY.
In another recent interview, Horan said that he sometimes sends his solo music to his former bandmates for feedback.
“Not every time, but if I feel like I need an opinion, I always send it out,” the singer told Esquire.
“This time I sent it to Louis, and he gave me his honest opinion on it, which is always handy,” Horan said, referencing ‘The Show’.
“We’ve released enough songs over the years, so we know what’s decent and what’s not. All the 1D boys and artists alike, I’ll always try and send it around and get everybody’s opinion.”
The former group have shown each other support publicly in recent months. Styles thanked his ex-bandmates after he was named Artist Of The Year at the 2023 BRIT Awards.
In a recent interview with NME, Horan said of his new album: “The last time I wrote an album I did less thinking. You don’t in your early 20s, you don’t think too much at all – well I didn’t anyway, probably just immaturity of me.

I reckon there might be a clause in a boyband’s contract that at least one boybander must fuck about with different hairstyles once a firm fan base is established. Quite often they were either the second lead or the first to jump ship, after which they would get the clippers and take everything off in a middle finger move to former management.
exhibit 1 (above); Zayn Malik. In & out of 1D, that glorious dark hair was thinned for a textbook first gen faux hawk, blown back and brush rolled for a number of quiffs, streaked and loosely curled for a jelly roll, slicked but for a strand for a cry baby, undercut with a top knot, and more. On leaving 1D, the hair went, came, went, went, came, came, came, came… I dunno how many times, but he’s sure had fun with a variety of long and short.
further examples; Robbie Williams of Take That^, Shane Lynch of Boyzone, Nicky Byrne of Westlife, Matt Willis of Busted, Harry Judd of McFly, Scott Robinson of 5ive, Brian Harvey of East 17, Keith Flint of The Prodigy (ok, not strictly a boyband….but they were all male), Duncan James of Blue, Aston Merrygold of JLS, Jaymi Hensley of Union J, Jay McGuinness of The Wanted. And it didn’t stop with the UK, Backstreet Boy Nick Carter cut the curtains for some spikier styles, Justin Timberlake tossed off the spaghetti noodles for scruffier crewcuts, buzzed, and straightened and slicked back. I’m sure there are plenty more of lesser worldwide fame that could be added to the list too.
(^Jason Orange sported a very fetching low hawk during TT’s earlier heights of fame, while Howard Donald grew out his curly curtains and went for shoulder length dreadlocks around the same time. But otherwise neither had too many other noticeable deviations.)

Additional Speculation On Season Storylines (Listed by team) List does not include all NFL teams
Las Vegas Raiders
Raiders fire Josh McDaniels after starting 2-10 and losing to the Chiefs Week 12 in Las Vegas, and promote defensive coordinator Patrick Graham to be their interim head coach.
Patrick Graham will finish the season with a record of 2-3, leaving the Raiders with a final record of 4-13.
The Raiders will fire general Manager Dave Ziegler, interim coach Patrick Graham, and a majority of the rest of McDaniels' staff after the regular season is completed.
Tennessee Titans
Starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill gets injured early in the season, and the Titans allow scond-year QB Malik Willis and rookie Will Levis to struggle for the starting spot before Levis wins it outright after during Tennessee's bye week in Week 7.
Levis then manages to lead the Titans to an 8-3 record from the bye week on, putting up Rookie of the Year-worthy numbers... if he had started the full season.
The Titans still manage to fall in the Wildcard Round to a tough Browns team, but this year still cements Levis as the starting quarterback going into 2024, with Tannehill likely to be moved by the front office in the offseason.
Washington Commanders
Ron Rivera is fired after a Week 16 loss to the Jets, finishing his season in Washington with a record of 4-11. Assistant head coach and Offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is promoted to be the interim head coach.
Bieniemy then coaches the Commanders to a 2-0 record in the final games, and after the season, his interim tag is dropped in order to make Eric Bieniemy the full-time head coach of the Washington Commanders in 2024.
Aside
Originally, I had afew wonkier predictions, namely the Cardinals and Colts trading their respective picks to quarterback-needy teams so those unnamed teams could select one of USC QB Caleb Williams or UNC QB Drake Maye.
My only reservation was that by the time October comes around, we're gonna have seen a much better sample size of football in 2023, so I'm certain I'll have opinions on it. I'd just like to save some for the wilder stuff for when there's a clearer picture to expand upon.
Ideally, I'd like to do one of these at the end of every month of the season, so we'll see how that goes.
End of the way, I wanted to put something out to reign in the new year, and I hope you're along for the ride.
Now who's ready for some mothafuckin football?
