There was a half a second where Arthur’s sleep-deprived brain registered that something wasn’t quite right when he stumbled out of the small bedroom and into the kitchenette of their office, but he didn’t have enough time to process it before—
“Haaaaaaaaaaaaaappy birthday!” Parker’s unerringly cheery voice shattered the early morning silence, the man himself standing in the middle of kitchenette—fully dressed, cake in one hand, the other held in the air as if to say “ta-da!”
Arthur blinked owlishly at him, and looked from Parker, to the cake, to his own watch (4:27), to the window (still dark), and back to Parker, brow now pinched in confusion. It was certainly 4:27am if it was that dark outside, unless the world had decided to end on his birthday and Parker had decided to ignore it. He was also pretty sure there wasn’t a cake in the office or attached flat last night when they finally called it a night close to midnight.
A handful of questions tripped over themselves in his mind: Why are you dressed? Why are you up so early? What day is it? Where did the cake come from? Who are you and what did you do with Parker?
“I never told you when my birthday was,” Arthur said instead.
“Oh, didn’t I tell you?” Parker asked, setting the cake down on the counter and rummaging around for some plates. “I’m psychic.”
Arthur blinked at him again. Whatever other expression was on his face must’ve been amusing, because Parker started laughing.
“I’m a detective, Les,” Parker said, plates clattering onto the counter as he moved on to a knife. “Make some coffee while I cut this up?”
Easy enough. While the water heated, Arthur leaned back against the counter.
“Where did this even come from?”
“You remember the Henderson case from a few months back? Turns out the daughter works at that real fancy place over on 6th—”
Arthur’s eyebrows shot up at that. “Micheaux’s?”
“That’s the one!”
“Parker—”
The knife pointed vaguely in his direction. “Before you go accusing me of reckless spending, she did this as a favor. Less fancy, but no less decadent, she said.” Parker shrugged a shoulder. “Did have to go pick it up a few minutes ago though. Really didn’t think I’d make it out of the apartment without you springing awake.”
Arthur hummed quietly, before abruptly stepping closer and swiping a finger through the frosting despite Parker’s squawk of protest. Maybe it had just been ages since he’d had chocolate, or maybe the price of baked goods really did make a difference, but oh, it was heavenly.
“Good?”
Arthur gestured at the cut Parker was about to make. “You should make those bigger.”
Parker laughed, bright and warm, and Arthur couldn’t help himself joining in. Maybe he could get used to having someone know when his birthday was.

currently just malevolent, but i'malso working on some woe.begone stuff right now!
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
all my aching bones are trembling (and i may yet fall apart)

technically it's not finished yet, but you were the last thing is shaping up to be incredibly angsty lol

maybe the meowlevolent fic series, with we craved sweetness ?

i never have!

on occasion; i do wish i wrote it more, though! all my aching bones was my first smutfic ever, i really enjoy the different aspect of character exploration

i haven't, but i would love to do a w.bg crossover with malevolent, as predictable as that sounds lol

not to my knowledge, that would be wild though

mattkey! though i also have a very special place in my heart for parkarthur

probablyy the rewrite/more in-depth royalty au i wrote for malevoversary last year

i think (hope?) i have a pretty good grasp of language, especially descriptive language :D
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
i think my characterization could be a lot stronger. obviously its a bit divided from the get-go with a majority of my works being aus, but i still wish they felt a bit more authentically like themselves. (ironically the character i tend to be the most nervous with this is parker. who has literally been dead for the entire story. /lh)
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
can be great! if proper research is done. i've never personally done it, and i don't think my knowledge of greek is strong enough/i would have to absolutely fight for my life to have it come up naturally between my characters i think lol
19. First fandom you wrote for?
published fandom, newsies. in general it was probably warrior cats
20. Favorite fic you've written?
once again don't want to give the same answer i have in the past so, i actually really enjoyed i got a memory of blood. the fics i write in the span of a day naturally tend to be messier, a bit rushed, etc but i just think johnparker is an incredibly compelling dynamic especially in the cbau
