I can’t be entirely sure how many martial arts there, so I had to google and went to a site called, wayofthemartialarts.com as well as using Wikipedia on the “List of martial arts” page. It is traditionally practised in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Southern Thailand, Southern Philippines and Southern Vietnam. things i love about doing research, particularly about martial arts:

any and all martial art styles have a history that no one can fucking pin point to its exact creation and they all vary not only from traditional vs. modern evolutions, but also in regions.

cuz i only learned today that saying “silat”, or even “pencak silat” is the equivalent to saying “kung fu” or “wushu” - it’s simply an umbrella term for a whole bunch of different fighting styles.

this shit is so goddamn fascinating.

also i’m speaking it into canon that Madripoor has its own silat style (just like other SE Asian nations such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, and even Vietnam do) with a reputation for being one of the deadliest silat styles, and no, no one can fucking stop me

From the get go, Bruce saw that Dick and Jason had different styles and trying to use the same fighting skills and reinforce them would be pointless. Dick was an acrobat, raised in a circus and had that agility to him; Jason was a kid born in the streets used to running and jumping and parkour his way out of the police’s way. Bruce also noted that Jason, unlike him and Dick, prefers to fight in close grounds; or at least, reduce the space to be able to get closer. 

So, his focus on Jason’s training comes with a focus on arms and legs; close space battle and improvisation. Jason is very good at utilizing the room and the objects around him as a way to get personal and get the upper hand. In many ways, the fight scenes we had of him so far in season 2 and season 1 show exactly that. It remind me of the fantastic warehouse battle scene in batman v superman. 

So here are Jason’s focus on training.

savate is a French combat sport that uses the hands and feet as weapons combining elements of English boxing with graceful kicking techniques. only feet and legs are allowed unlike the next fighting style.

muay thai Thai boxing is a combat sport of Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques This discipline is known as the "art of eight limbs" as it is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, and shins. in his fight with the cops in 1x06, you can see jason using some of this. this.

krav maga is known for its focus on real-world situations and its extreme efficiency. It was derived from the street-fighting experience, Krav Maga has a philosophy emphasizing aggression, and simultaneous defensive and offensive maneuvers. krav maga uses moves that are not allowed in other fighting arts.this.

hapkido is a highly eclectic Korean martial art. It is a form of self-defense that employs joint locks, grappling, and throwing techniques similar to those of other martial arts, as well as kicks, punches, and other striking attacks. It also teaches the use of traditional weapons, including knife, sword, rope, ssang juhl bong (nunchaku), cane (ji pang ee), short stick (dan bong), and middle-length staff.

wushu Taolu involves martial art patterns, acrobatic movements and techniques for which competitors are judged and given points according to specific rules. The forms comprise basic movements (stances, kicks, punches, balances, jumps, sweeps, and throws) based on aggregate categories of traditional Chinese martial art styles, and can be changed for competitions to highlight one's strengths.

while he knows more and has been taught more by bruce, those are the styles his training was focused on. as well, he has some of parkour style when he does flips and kicks, as well some capoeira, judo and aikido.

Microscopic Nanobots: Attacks central nervous system, infecting the brain of a human and/or metahuman through electronic impulses, causing the individual to lose control of his abilities for 5 minutes.

Molecular Toxins Dart: Attacks morpho-plastic nervous system. It gives complete spastic paralysis. The victim doesn't have any control over their physical structure. It stops his molecules from forming polymer chains. This effect turns the victim into a puddle and can last about an hour.

History

The man that would become Prometheus was the son of two loving, hippie criminals who traveled across the United States with him. They committed indiscriminate murders and thefts, often of a brutal nature. Eventually, they were cornered and forced the police to gun them down in front of their son, whose hair turned white from the shock. That night, he swore an oath to "annihilate the forces of justice" after escaping from the police station of his parent's killers by pretending to be one of a group of cub scouts touring the station. His true name has not been revealed.

Training

Prometheus obtained large sums of money both from his parents' hidden stashes of money and by extorting local mob bosses and contacts using his knowledge of their criminal activities. Leaving home at the age of 16, he used his money to travel the world in order to develop the skills he would need. His activities during this period included training as an underground pit-fighter in Brazil, working as a mercenary in Africa, joining terrorist guerrilla groups in the Middle East, studying silat under masters in the jungles of Malaysia, associating with the wealthy social elite in order to learn their secrets, and attending only the finest in legitimate academic schools and universities.

Eventually Prometheus found the legendary Himalayan city of Shamballa, inhabited by a sect of monks who worshiped evil itself. Studying with them, he eventually became a favorite of their leader, who showed him their greatest treasure: an alien spaceship upon which their ancient monastery had been built. The leader then transformed into one of the aliens who had first landed there, and Prometheus was forced to kill him to obtain the key to the what Prometheus dubbed "The Ghost Zone", an infinite expanse of white nothingness that was supposedly the space between dimensions.

Prometheus eventually returned to the United States and went on a killing spree where he shot and killed all but one of the police officers who murdered his parents along with their families, so the one could share the pain of being a survivor of a massacre of loved ones. He eventually decided to kill the entire Supreme Court, but relented when he discovered the Justice League and decided they would be the pinnacle of his targets against dealers of justice. Prometheus would eventually build himself a small, lopsided wooden house in The Ghost Zone along with his first costume and helmet to download information into his mind and advance his technology. Here, he was free to build up a resistance to heroes such as the Justice League of America, unhindered by Earth's authorities or heroes.

Strength in Numbers

Prometheus made his move against the Justice League with the intention of destroying them and the justice that they stood for. By doing so he lured and attacked a contest tour winner of the JLA Headquarters named Retro and took his identity before murdering him to gain access to the Justice League Watchtower on the Moon and almost single-handedly took down the League: He shot the Martian Manhunter with a dart that turned his shape-changing power against him after setting him ablaze; infected Steel's armor with a computer virus which commanded the suit to damage the Watchtower; hypnotized the Huntress into unconsciousness, attacked Green Lantern with a "Neural Chaff" that rendered his ring useless, trapped the angel Zauriel in the Ghost Zone, tricked the Flash into believing that he had planted motion sensitive bombs that would explode if the Flash used his powers; he defeated Batman in hand-to-hand combat with the aid of a device that downloaded the skills of the thirty greatest martial arts masters in the world into his brain and a pair of lights on his shoulder that blinked in an erratic pattern to cause disorientation.

At the time, the Watchtower was filled with innocent civilians that the League had invited for a tour. With the Watchtower under his control, Prometheus then demanded that Superman - the only hero he could not defeat - commit suicide in exchange for the lives of the hostages, sacrificing the two things which he presumed would matter to Superman: his image and his reputation. However, Prometheus's best laid plans were laid to waste by an unforeseen variable: the anti-hero Catwoman, who incapacitated him with a simple whip crack to the groin. Having sneaked onto the Watchtower disguised as Cat Grant looking for things to steal, Catwoman's intervention bought Steel the time he needed to beat Prometheus' virus and, in turn, override Prometheus' helmet. Prometheus then escaped to the Ghost Zone.

Injustice Gang

Prometheus later returned as a part of the second Injustice Gang created by Lex Luthor. He was able to use the Ghost Zone and a White Martian spaceship left over from the Martian Invasion within it to infiltrate the Watchtower. He almost killed Oracle by defenestrating her when she refused his deal of wanting her to betray the JLA in return for being able to walk again. Oracle managed to survive by grabbing the hand on the face of the Clocktower, simultaneously damaging Prometheus's helmet.

He then had a final rematch with Batman who had, in the meantime, managed to unlock the secrets of Prometheus' helmet. Batman replaced the martial arts skills Prometheus had downloaded into his mind with the physical skills and coordination of Professor Stephen Hawking, a famed scientist with Muscular Neuron Disease that rendered him a drooling catatonic. Later, Batman was forced to intervene in order to prevent Huntress from killing the helpless Prometheus, firing her from the JLA in the process.

After the defeat of Mageddon, Batman and Martian Manhunter conceded that no prison could hold Prometheus, so they placed him in a psychic loop to imprison his mind, trapped in his own memories. In this state, he was sent to Blackgate Prison. Martian Manhunter kept him in this state for the rest of his life to be tormented by the prison staff. During this time, Prometheus' "identity" and all his equipment was used by his protegé, Chad Graham. Upon Martian Manhunter's death at the hands of Libra, Prometheus regained control of his own mind and broke out of Blackgate after killing the guards who tormented him. Enraged that his successor hadn't tried to rescue him and ruined his reputation by making him look foolish, he tracked Graham down and killed him along with several members of the Blood Pack.

Cry for Justice

Prometheus blamed the Justice League for the years that he spent with his damaged mind and sought revenge. He instigated a global crime wave that saw the deaths of Freedom Beast, Gloss, Tasmanian Devil, and Sandstorm of the Global Guardians as part of a distraction in order for him to infiltrate the JLA satellite and place teleportation devices in the home cities of various heroes which will "strand" the cities in various places in the past and future. In the process, he maimed Roy Harper and single-handily defeated the JLA until he was subdued by Donna Troy.

While being interrogated by the JLA, Prometheus offered to reveal the locations of the devices and deactivate them in exchange for his release. After one of his devices severely devastated Star City and inflicted millions of fatalities, including Roy Harper's daughter Lian, Prometheus' ultimatum was reluctantly met to save the cities. After Prometheus returned to his lair, he is ambushed and killed by Green Arrow, who shoots an arrow through the villain's head.

Silat

Silat is a loose term used to refer to Indonesian, Malaysian, and some Filipino martial arts. Silat loosely translated may mean "one that moves like lightning". It may also mean "skillful movement" but the exact etimology of the term is hard to trace due to the infusion of so many cultures. Based on where the style originated it may be called Main Po, Betawi, Penjak Silat, Poekolon, etc. Jave, Sumatra, Bali, and other regions all have their own blend of this approach. Most Silat systems are blade oriented and therefore the knife is a big part of it. The wavy blade known as the Kris is a trademark of Silat and is regarded by the most steeped in Silat to possess magical properties. The teacher of Silat is called "Guru" or "Guro in tagalog". The master "Maha Guru". The spiritual master as "Pendekar". These terms may be interchangable depending on who you get your knowledge. Popular systems are Mande Muda, Cimande, Bukti Negara, Maphilindo, Harimau, Mustika Kwitang, Tapak Suci, Tjimande, Poekoelan Tjiminde, the list goes on…Indonesian culture has three main categories of martial art form: 1. Pentjak Silat (self-defense) ; 2. Penjang Gulat (wrestling ); and 3. Ujungan (stick & blade application). These variations of fighting methods have been in existence since 400 AD. Today, Pentjak Silat is the most popular of the three systems with wide spread organized associations and through acknowledged practitioners. Penjang Gulatis practiced mostly by the farmers of Indonesia, and is rarely seen today, except at annual festival events. Sebaliknya Lokman Adam, yang merupakan penyokong tegar Najib Abdul Razak, telah dipecat daripada Umno oleh MT UMNO hari ini. Perkara itu disahkan oleh dua peserta mesyuarat yang diadakan pada petang tadi. Sumber yang menghadiri mesyuarat itu berkata peserta tidak dibenarkan bercakap mengenai pemecatan itu secara terbuka kerana setiausaha parti Annuar Musa mesti memberitahu Lokman tentang perkara itu secara bertulis terlebih dahulu. 1) Kita akan tengok apa yang jadi dalam PRU15, siapa yang khianat PH dan masuk PN akan di tolak rakyat. 2) Siapa yang masuk PN, akan terpaksa carry political baggage rakan-rakan parti masing. Jadi PN terpaksa carry political baggage Zahid hamidi misalnya dan PAS dengan UlarMerc dan bonus diri sendiri 50K 3) Apa yang akan terjadi pada existing case rasuah Zahid? dia dah kena slap 87 pertuduhan dan bukan senang-senang DPP nak tarik balik pertuduhan kalau dah masuk kat dalam mahkamah. Semua benda ada prosidur dia expecially Mahkamah kita, ini bukan Mahkamah Kangaroo zaman Najib. 4) PKR-Pro DSAI, Amanah, DAP mungkin jadi pembangkang, but that is fine; mereka ini hidup berprinsip. Dengan half reform yang dah di capai dalam masa hampir 2 tahun, it is a good improvement dari BN yang menang PRU14 tempoh hari. Cuma saya teringat kata-kata seorang sarjana parti agama Zuhdi Jentik yang nak buat kuasa politik melayu Islam sebelum PRU14, dengan dia sekali kena jentik PRU14. 11) Sebenarnya ini adalah kifarah untuk tuan guru hadi yang dulu kata Umno batil, thoghut dan tidak diredhai Allah ialah kerana Umno berjuang berdasarkan bangsa & nasionalisme. Tiba2 yang diperjuang bangsa dan nasionalisme itu di peluk erat setelah di kafirkan. Dan baru walaun nak peluk erat UMNO, terpaksa pula terima Bersatu dan Tun, betulah mereka ini tiada pendirian.  12) Itu belum masuk bab Speaker Dewan dari Amanan dan Timbalan Speaker dari DAP, kalau ada usul nak buat undi percaya agak-agaknya depa lulus kan? It portrays her as a sick woman who has been forced to attend court despite the severity of her illness. In other words, poor Rosmah is the victim of an unjust court. If Rosmah's fondness for singing karaoke is legendary, then play-acting is a close second. Having ignored the suggestions of High Court judge Mohamed Zaini Mazlan to use a wheelchair to ease her discomfort, Rosmah slowly climbed the stairs, unaided, occasionally clinging on to the railings and at times being supported by an aide. This shuffling image contrasts sharply with previous years' video footage showing her agility on her overseas travels, leading Malaysian delegations, giving talks, officiating at Islamic fashion shows and naturally her favourite pastime, shopping. Whether Rosmah had used a wheelchair, had to seek emergency treatment in her personal ambulance or had to cling to her aides for support is irrelevant.

The ambulance on standby is part of her propaganda machinery. We are meant to see her catching her breath and struggling up the stairs. The images are calculated to shift public opinion, which in Rosmah's case is to gain our sympathy and turn them against the authorities, or the court, or both. It is to reinforce the belief that she is being persecuted. Malaysians mudah lupa (easily forget). They may have not remembered the debacle on Monday when judge Mohamed Zaini was clearly irritated that Rosmah had messed-up the court's schedule. He may have been conscious that the rakyat would turn on the judiciary for being soft on her as both Rosmah and her husband, the disgraced former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, have previously abused their medical certificates (MCs) to delay their trials. The laundry list of ailments presented on Monday claimed that Rosmah suffered from dodgy knees and dizzy spells. So why didn't she ditch her platform sandals and use flat shoes? If she had truly been ill, she would have ridden in the ambulance. Yesterday, I was warned on social media by pro-Rosmah supporters to back-off and give her a break. Why should I or anyone else? She did not give the rakyat a break. Rosmah is taking the court for a ride, and this not to be dismissed as a minor issue. When her husband was the PM, it was alleged that she wielded more power than him. Today, she still wields power and can manipulate the courts. The judges, lawyers and court official probably have long protracted discussions, wasting time and the rakyat's money, wondering if she will turn up at court or not. Rosmah's absence does not damage her, but the reputation of the judiciary will be further tainted. A father who steals a tin of milk powder to feed his children is held on remand and made to appear in court, to determine his guilt or otherwise. Rosmah twists the judiciary round her pudgy finger. Despite the hundreds of millions of ringgits involved in her corruption, Rosmah is free as a bird to evade court.

The nation needs desperately to overhaul its judicial system and shed its previous image of a two-tiered system of justice, where one law exists for the "haves" and another, for the "have-nots". Getting rid of the previous Umno-Baru regime means that the MACC and police are now overworked, pursuing the corrupt. This would not have happened if Najib had won GE-14. Don't forget that the nation has other issues, like education, the environment and extremism, to correct. So what does Rosmah want? Naturally, she wants our sympathy but more importantly, she wants to buy time. Rosmah (and corrupt Umno-Baru politicians impending court cases) will try to delay their trials and the judgments until GE-15. They will attempt to redeploy their old Umno-Baru tactics and use their new bed-fellow, PAS, to defeat Pakatan Harapan. If the Umno-Baru-PAS-BN coalition returns to power, they will erase all of Najib's and Rosmah's corruption charges and release them from prison if they have been jailed. Many of you are disappointed with Pakatan (who isn't?) and have threatened to vote Umno-Baru/PAS/BN at GE-15. It's not just Rosmah who needs more time. Don't dismiss Rosmah's court delays as a small matter. When she plays hide-and-seek with the courts, the wrong messages are sent out to the electorate and more importantly, to our young. They will think that MCs can be continually abused and that crime does pay. Act in haste at GE-15, and a returning Najib will be merciless. You will regret that you had not weighed your options with more care. Unlike Rosmah, the nation does not have an ambulance trailing it to give it CPR. GE-15 is a heartbeat away! - Mariam Mokhtar
