Carl Cashman & Oscar Joyo's "Hybrid."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Currently on view at Thinkspace Projects in Los Angeles, California is "Hybrid," an exhibition featuring new works by Carl Cashman and Oscar Joyo.
Cashman’s vibrant neon colored works are best described as a genre he has coined “neometry,” or neon geometry. The works are hypnotic, at times bordering on the hallucinatory, and blur the distinction between digital and analogue forms. Entirely executed by hand, the paintings are crisp, precise and graphically decisive, though clearly hand crafted rather than digitally produced. Joyo’s work is also deeply rooted in color exploration, due in part to his chromesthesia (the ability to see colors when hearing sounds). Thanks to this unique perspective, he uses various color gradients and intergalactic color schemes, paying homage to his Malawian heritage by his use of fun shapes and patterns that breathe life into the paintings.

Malawi: Land of Food and Culture
Popularly known as the “Warm Heart of Africa,” Malawi is a country where you will find the most welcoming and friendly people along with colourful and vibrant culture. The traditional cuisine of Malawi includes dishes made from fresh fish found in Lake Malawi. This country is much more than its spectacular lakes and mountains, Malawi is a land of food and culture. One should surely explore the local cuisine of Malawi along with discovering the culture of this land.
Tumblr media
1.Malawian Food
Unlike others, the cuisine of Malawi is not influenced by other cultures; and it has remained traditional from the very beginning. Farming is one of the major professions in Malawi. People enjoy food from ‘tuck shops’ which are small rural shops that offer a variety of snacks. Top corporate travel management companies in Malawi usually arrange such snacks for their guests. These stalls include delicious food items such as meat pies, bunny chow (deep-fried rolls stuffed with a mix of potato and curry meat), and sausage rolls. You are likely to taste the most delicious and fresh fish here, primarily because of fishes caught by the Lake Malawi fishing community.
The popular dishes of Malawi include Chambo, Nsima, Nthochi, Kachumbari, and Kondowde. Among these, Chambo is a Tilapia fish found in Lake Malawi. People consider Chambo the top delicacy while there are other favourite fishes including Usipa, similar to sardines, and Mpasa, similar to salmon. Nsima is a staple Malawi food, made from ground corn and served along with meat or vegetables. The locals can eat this staple food any time of the day. The tomato and onion salad called Kachumbari is also very popular, while you may also try Nthochi bread made with bananas. One can also enjoy the delicacy of Kondowde which is made from water and cassava flour and is served with fish.
When it comes to drinks, nothing can replace South African wines and Malawi gin. A business travel management company in Malawi can provide local drinks to their guests on demand. Carlsberg is one of the most commonly used beers in the country. Malawi exports tea that is known for its incredibly high quality. When you eat or drink at a restaurant in Malawi, tipping is not compulsory but appreciated.
2.Malawian Culture
Malawi is an ethnically diverse land with multiple unique cultures. Chewa is the largest tribe in the country, while other ethnicities such as Yao, Maravi, Tumbuka, and Nyanja call Malawi their home. Most of the tribes of this country are Bantu, a broader ethnicity widely spread in Central and Southern Africa. Bantu is also the language spoken by the locals usually. Malawian people follow a combination of Christianity and traditional tribal belief systems. So, one can say Christianity is the most prevalent religion in this country.
3.Dance
The most crucial element of Malawian culture is dancing. Masks are commonly used by traditional Malawian dancers whether it is for religious or ceremonial purposes. Gule Wamakulu is the most widely known dance form and a secret society of Malawi, performed by the men and women of Nyau society. It is a ritualistic dance that can be performed only during specific occasions, such as
Weddings
Death of a Chief
Coronation or Installment of a new Chieftan
The transition from boyhood to manhood
Funeral of important community members
The dancers wear a mask made up in the shape of beasts. People believe that these masks can capture the spirits of the deceased. This dance form of Gule Wamakulu also teaches moral and social values through character archetypes. The National Dance Troupe in Malawi is partially subsidized by the government. Dance, being the most popular art form in Malawi, receives the only governmental financial support.
4.Music
Along with dance, music is an essential part of Malawi culture. This place is home to one of the largest music festivals in Africa, namely the “Lake of Stars Festival.” during this festival, one can enjoy the traditional music of Malawi on the shores of Lake Malawi. More than 4,000 people get together from Africa and Europe to attend this music festival. Even corporate travel providers in Malawi arrange local music sessions.
5.Literature and Arts
Oral artistry is one of the ancient traditions of Malawian culture in which the texts were kept in memory and recited or performed. The traditional texts used in oral artistry are an immense source of entertainment, commemoration, and instruction. The literature of this country largely deals with myths, folktales, and legends.
The performing arts are not much developed in Malawi; however, local bands play native instruments throughout the country during festivals and celebrations. Dance troupes are becoming more popular because of their performances of relatable daily lives.
Graphic arts including pottery making and wood carving are most frequently bought by tourists and people from other African regions. You will notice that every home and shop has wood statues, primarily of animals, along with carved tables and chairs.

Hi there, this is Mr Newa, I'd like to inform u that i am bored as hell.
Today (12-03-2020)
I didn't do shit, i spent my whole day playing Toram Online (because I'm an mmorpg anime loving bitch ni**a 😂😂) , drawing (because I'm an artist on Picasso's level👨🏾‍🎨), watching anime (because I'm an anime loving boy genius 😎), and begging relatives for money (because I'm broke and i like things🤓).
Toram Online
Toram online is my new video game high, i always wanted to be an isekai (other world anime) main character, but i live in reality where the only other worlds i can go to after death (because I'm a Christian💒) are heaven😇 or hell👿, and.... 👀, i guess those places are ok🚶🏾‍♂️🚶🏾‍♂️🚶🏾‍♂️. I love games like Toram online, i created a character that has my dream body😆, i made 6 new friends so far, and because of the hacks in the game i reached level 70 in 3 days😎. That was some of my day.
Drawing
I have been drawing since i was a kid (obviously 😒), but i don't have the Picasso talent i mentioned before😅. I suck at drawing hands and feet, i have a limited understanding of perspective when drawing people and my drawings lack consistency in art style😪.... 🚶🏾‍♂️🚶🏾‍♂️🚶🏾‍♂️Buuuuuut, i love drawing and can't stop doing it, i even when as far as teaching myself animation because drawing cartoons was always more fun than drawing reality🤩 (my brain has developed to admire the unreal👀, probably cause of anime), anyways i draw and threw away most of my drawings (cough cough) 🚶🏾‍♂️🚶🏾‍♂️ but one of them is on this post.
Anime
Theres too much to say about anime I'm sorry😂😂😂😂, i've been an anime fan since i was 6, i used to watch Animax my dad in the morning before he went to work. I was watching Knights and Magic, its an isekai (yes I'm an isekai trash love and I'm not ashamed😂🚮). Its about a kid who uses robots to fight monsters 😉. The other anime i watched was this years most cultured anime so far, one created purely for men of culture😌.... Interspecies reviewers, its about a group of men in a fantasy world who have sex with different fictional species from Elves to Plant girl's. Now they called it an anime but I've seen them have uncensored sex several times and i know what sex looks like probably😆.
Poverty 😒
Even the richest Africans have suffered poverty at certain points in their lives and mine ain't easy. When I'm broke i almost have no one to rely on. My guardian is stingy with money and only gives me pocket money and assignment printing money 😪, if i ask her for more she tells me stories of when she was young and says no (i won't do that shit when i have kids or if i ever become a guardian). Sometimes i ask my mum but she has alot on her plate so its like I'm troubling her😪. My sister shares sometimes but we're both students so I'm definitely troubling her. My uncles ask too many questions 😒. I can ask some aunts but they have their own kids to worry about and like i said, "all Africans experience poverty at some point." But i have some part time jobs that help me make wages to keep my poverty short term so... Thank you God, i believe Jesus died for my sins😇.
Anyways that was my Sunday, as usual , thanks for reading i appreciate the time you wasted or passed on this.
Thanks

6, 9, and 12 for Paris 😍
thank you for the ask reality! 💖
6. What were they like at school? Did they enjoy it? Did they finish? What level of higher education did they reach? What subjects did they enjoy? Which did they hate?
before being homeschooled, paris hated going to public school mainly because she had trouble making friends. at some point that was more important to her than learning. she eventually begged her parents to homeschool her because of it, and finished the rest of her high school years (or secondary school) online
paris never really had interest in school, so if you were to ask which was her favorite subject—she’d say none lol. in college/uni, she majored in photography and actually went this time to have a fresh start at making friends—which she did, and soon graduated with a bachelor of arts degree
9. Do animals like them? Do they get on well with animals?
paris loves animals, she once wanted a sugar glider as a pet because of how adorable and energetic they are. one of paris’ favorite places to photograph is simply nature. not only because it’s relaxing, but she also get to see the variety species of animals whenever travelling
she’s no animal whisperer or some sort, but they do sometimes ease up to her quickly. it’s kinda amusing to see someone like paris who’s usually chaotic and likes to have endless fun, so calm and focused when it comes to doing something she loves which is photography
12. What is their favourite food?
chambo and nsima. a malawian dish that paris thinks no one but her grandmother and mother can make best. she loves food with lots of combined flavor and they manage to cook it to perfection everytime!
oc asks!
