Fennec Shand and Boba Fett in the throne room of the Daimyo's palace near Mos Espa, on Tatooine addressing the Majordomo. (Mok Shaiz's Majordomo out of frame). Image from The Book of Boba Fett, Season 1, Episode 1, Stranger in a Strange Land. Calendar by DataWorks.
Grogu knew it didn’t seem likely. It was strange. He accepted that. Fennec Shand was his friend and he really liked her. She was sassy, strong, and an expert at a lot of things. She wasn’t afraid of his dad and she wasn’t actually afraid of the Daimyo either. That was impressive. Almost everywhere he went with his dad, people were afraid of Mandalorians to the extent of crossing the street, darting indoors, or simply turning around and walking away. It was impressive, if a little bit dramatic.
If they should worry about anyone, they should worry about Fennec. She had excellent aim with any weapon you tossed her way, she could run down a fathier, and she could disappear at the click of a blaster activating. Then, much like Peli Motto, she seemed to know everyone and every little, itty, bitty, bit of gossip traded anywhere on Tatooine. That was impressive all by itself.
Of course he didn’t tell his dad about how he felt toward Fennec. Being her friend. He didn’t want Din Djarin to get jealous. The Mandalorian handled it poorly at best. Like the time he gave Peli a kiss on the cheek because she had the pit droids make him one of his favorite meals, flash fried gorg on a stick. Din had some harsh words for her, but Grogu had thought he shouldn’t have been so touchy about it. The Mandalorian argued that he was asking who told the pit droids they could use the N-1’s engines to do that flash frying (or roasting, technically speaking). How was Peli to supposed to know that she had to get special permission for crying out loud? Or that the engines of the N-1 could actually set the Mandalorian’s cape on fire? Din Djarin was being unfair.
That’s exactly why Grogu didn’t want his dad to get upset over all the projects he and Fennec took on. It he did, Grogu would see less of his friend and he really didn’t want that to happen. Other than his dad, the Daimyo, the Majordomo, Greef Karga, and Peli, Fennec was the only person he knew who told great bedtime stories. They all started, “The last time I was on Coruscant…” or “The last time I was on Corellia…” or “The last time I was on Chandrila…”. He loved that. It set the scene and knew he was going to hear a story about a thrilling chase, with some blaster fire and hand to hand combat, that always ended with Fennec collecting, protecting, or silencing, whoever had been on her list of problems to take care of. She was a great problem solver. And once the story was underway, she didn’t stop telling it until it was done. Not like his dad who would let him fall asleep half way through. If Grogu fell asleep, Fennec would tickle his feet and keep telling the story. She said she could leave a task of any sort half done.
That was part of the reason Grogu liked to hang out with her. He wanted to learn how to solve problems in different ways to make sure they weren’t left half done. Even now, he worried that Moff Gideon wasn’t really gone. The person who burned up on Mandalore was probably a clone. Sad for the clone certainly, but good for Moff Gideon mark one. Dank Farrik!
Now, with Fennec teaching him how to make sure that anything he started was completed, if he ever ended up crossing paths with any version of Moff Gideon, he’d be able to find and implement a method to permanently shut him down. Grogu couldn’t imagine that any version of the Moff would be kinder, gentler, and more thoughtful and considerate than the original and the original was bereft of all of those qualities. Jedi weren’t supposed to be vengeful, but Grogu was willing to make an exception for certain people. It seemed like the right thing to do.
Which was another thing that he appreciated about Fennec. She was very quick at discerning what was right and what was wrong. She didn’t slow herself down by ponding the moral or ethical implications of the work she undertook. If she didn’t think it was worth the risk or thought that the reward wasn’t rewarding enough, she just didn’t do it. You’d never find her cleaning out the rancor’s enclosure. Nope. Not her.
His dad on the other hand, could be compelled to do some of the worst work just because the Creed demanded it, honor demanded it, or he’d made a promise to someone at some nebulous point in the distant past. That had gotten them both into a fair amount of trouble. Just look at what happened when the Mandalorian decided to prove to Bo-Katan and Armorer that Mandalore could still support life! It was a nightmare! You wouldn’t find Fennec getting caught up in stuff like that. Nope. Grogu respected that because he wished he could use that same technique to avoid cleaning his room.
Grogu sighed and made his way to the throne room. He wanted to see what lesson he could learn from her.
“…he’d have fed you to his menagerie.”
Fennec’s words didn’t sound nice, but she delivered them in a strangely matter of fact manner that made the person standing in front of her begin to sweat.
“I promise you Administrator, I will send fresh frogs right over. I had no idea that freshness was a key quality for rancor feed.”
“I don’t feed them to a rancor. As if you would be that lucky. They are fed to a powerful Jedi and he likes them fresh.”
“Of course, of course, of course.” The person bowed as they spoke and when they reached the threshold of the room, they turned and ran out of the room as fast as they could.
Fennec turned from her perch on the Daimyo’s throne and smiled at Grogu.
“The things I do to keep you and the Daimyo happy, kid. Be glad that he likes you.”
Grogu returned her smile. He was glad that they both liked him, but perhaps he was a little, teeny, tiny bit more glad that Fennec liked him. Perhaps.

🚨SPOILERS FOR FANTASY HIGH JUNIOR YEAR EPISODE 6🚨
Dimension20 "Fantasy High Junior Year"
Episode 6 "Party Politics"
Timestamp: 00:37:18
Video Length: 4min. & 7sec.
Sumo Wrestling to talk to Ragh (Pt. 1 | ‣Pt. 2)
Gorgug yells for Riz
Riz joins in
Gorgug says he explained but Riz also explains it again in a maybe better kind of way for Ragh to try to understand.
Riz: "So there was a god that was going through some kind of- was having- anger was escaping through these red gems that were possessing people and filling them with rage. And then Kalina- who is back but we don't know what's going on because now that the Nightmare King is gone, Cassandra manifested Kalina again, I guess and Kalina seemed shady but also seemed to legitimately be helping Cassandra, so it's possible that she takes on the traits of whoever she's the familiar of. So she might be a good guy? I don't know what's going on. But she did say your name specifically, not in a threatening way, but in a 'he will save us' way, while she was getting taken over by one of the red gems that was very similar to what happened with your mom. So, I think you are the true crab king."
Gorgug bows! 😂🤣💀
Riz also bows 😂😂🤣🤣💀💀
Riz is confusedly just looking at Gorgug 😂😂😂
Gorgug: "We've just got to build him up a little bit." 😭😭
Ragh: "So you're telling me that in the same year that I gotta get ready for tryouts for the Bastion City Buccaneers, that I've been chosen to save Cassandra?"
Gorgug and Riz: "Maybe?" 😂🤣💀
Gorgug: "Does that mean something to you?" 😂
Ragh: "It means a lot." 😭😭
Ragh remembers Cassandra! He was there! 😂🤣💀
Ragh is gonna find Cassandra 😭
Ragh: "Listen, I'm a straight-up barbarian, but if you need cleric numero dos and I'm the chosen one- Let's talk." 😭😭
Riz: "I think it's something to do with those red rage spheres, that maybe you could help with, or maybe we can talk to your mom and also you, and maybe we can all figure it out together."
Ragh really struggles :(((
Brennan: "You see that- he[Ragh] loves you a lot and wants to say something that solves the mystery for you, but I think you watch him not get it."
Ragh has never seen a rage star per se
Lydia has a fiend trapped in the red gem that's inside of her and she uses her rage to contain it.
Lydia can make a sick spread on Saturday and they can talk to her about the star trapped in her chest!
Ragh texts his mom SO QUICK! 😭✋
Ragh's text to his mom: "Mom, sick spread. Crystal demon questions. Riz, Gorgug. You down?" 😂🤣💀
🥰🥰An enormous wall of the "surrounded by hearts smiling" emoji🥰🥰
Ragh's mom is the best! 😭✋ I admire the LOVE that Ragh has for his mom fr! 😭😭✋✋
Ragh assures Gorgug and Riz that they're gonna get to the bottom of this! 🥺🥺 He's so sweet! 🥺🥺♥️♥️
Crab King! 😂🤣👏👑
Ragh: "Crab King, when the lobster prince and the shrimp majordomo need help, then that's what's up."
Riz: "That's awesome. Thank you, Ragh."
Gorgug, Riz, and Ragh all put a hand in: "Crustacean Nation!" 😭😭✋✋

DataWorks calendar page for January 4, 2024. Boba Fett on the throne at the palace on Tatooine. From The Book of Boba Fett, Season 1, Episode 1, Stranger in a strange land.
Crime lord! Boba Fett was a crime lord! That just wasn’t right. Grogu wouldn’t have believed it if Fennec hadn’t told him herself. Now he didn’t know what to do. How could you watch one of your idols collapse under the unbearable weight of corruption? It was heart breaking.
“Sir Grogu. Calm down. That lasted less than a couple of minutes. Daimyo Fett wasn’t a ‘crime lord’ as much as he was an interim leader for Mos Espa and eventually all of Tatooine.”
Grogu sighed. That was a big relief. He was glad that the Majordomo was there to clear things up. Interim leader sounded a whole lot better than crime lord, even though Grogu had no idea what interim meant. He wondered if he should ask Majordomo but decided against it.
“The Daimyo has sent me down here to collect you. It’s meal time and he would like to discuss some opportunities with you and your guardian.”
Huh? What kind of opportunities? Majordomo should know by now that he couldn’t mention food and work in the same sentence with Grogu. He never got past the food part and thinking about what the Daimyo’s chef had made for them to eat that day.
It was clearly a benefit of being in charge of Tatooine, even on an interim basis, that the best, most skilled artisans stepped up and offered their services to the Daimyo. The chef who looked after the Daimyo and his guests was more than a little special. First she knew exactly how to prepare Grogu’s favorite treats the way he liked them best. He didn’t know how she knew, but she did. Then she seemed to actually know what everyone else liked to eat too. There was never a bad meal when she was in the kitchens of the palace. That’s why mentioning food to him was so distracting.
Grogu nodded at the Majordomo and pointed toward the main part of the palace. He’d been pacing in the Rancor pen because it was sturdy enough for how aggravated he’d been. He’d kicked the odd stone and bone out of his way and had ignored the pain in his foot because the pain in his heart had been too overwhelming.
He followed the Twi’lek official back into the proper part of the palace and completely forgot about his concerns on behalf of the Daimyo and any work that he might ask Din Djarin and Grogu to perform on his behalf. He could smell the food that was being prepared and he wondered, when they finally reached the throne room, if he’d been floating along using the Force because he didn’t feel tired at all.
“Sir Din Grogu!”
Grogu giggled. Majordomo loved announcing everyone’s presence when they entered the throne room. It seemed silly to Grogu. He was pretty unique and was certain that everyone there already knew him. But he knew that people should be able to do the things they loved doing so he never scolded the Majordomo the way his dad did.
“Very good. Din Djarin let the three of us speak before we enjoy this feast. Fennec, please bring a chair over for Sir Din Grogu.”
“Sure Boss. Good to see you’re doing fine kiddo. I was wondering if you just rode the rancor back to Mos Eisley.”
Fennec addressed him as she walked over to an alcove and located the small seat that the Daimyo had fashioned just for him. It looked like a regular chair, but when Grogu pushed a button, it would float up so he was at the same level as the Daimyo and they could talk eye to eye.
Grogu grimaced at her and quickly signed that he understood things better now, thanks to the Majordomo.
“Oh, Majordomo explained it did he? Good. Then you should like this job he’s going to talk to you two about. It’s right up your alley.”
Huh? Grogu could swear that sometimes Fennec spoke in a code that he didn’t really understand. But he had realized that sometimes he just needed to go along with it and this was one of those times. Those fried gorgs were not going to eat themselves, although if they did, that would be cool. And gross.
“Very good. Thank you Fennec. Well, Sir Din Grogu, I have asked your father if the two of you were available to assist me with a special project. He said that you would make the final determination of whether or not you would invest your time and energy into the project. It is really quite simple. I would like to have a pond constructed within the palace grounds. It will need to be stocked with fish and other such creatures. Does that sound like something you would like to do? Find me some fish for my pond?”
What?!!! That sounded great! He and his dad could go all over the Outer Rim and collect specimens and bring them back and if any one of them over produced, well, Grogu could have a fresh gorg dinner! It would be perfect.
“Roger that!” Grogu announced with a grin. He could wait to get a start on the project…right after he ate a good meal.
“Wow, Boss. I thought the kid would say no. After all, Kamino is pretty far away and all those species have been declared endangered. The New Republic won’t be happy about that.”
“Fennec, I intend to preserve them for future generations. Surely there is a societal value in that?”
Din Djarin chuckled, but Grogu hadn’t bothered to pay attention to any of that. A crime lord wouldn’t be bothered with things like stocked fishing ponds, right? It would be like having a rancor pen under the throne room. You just wanted the things you cared about close by. That made a lot of sense to Grogu. Maybe Fennec had never had a pet and just didn’t understand how comforting they could be?

I’m continuing to watch Foundation. Is it odd to primarily watch it for its art design and visual effect? I also like some of the characters. It’s probably best I have not read the novels. Part of me doesn’t care what happens in the long term (and I’d probably chafe if I knew how much it departed from the book series). FYI - There’s a link below to VFX from the series.
Season 2 follows two versions of Harry Seldon. One of them is an AI inside the Vault on the planet Salvor Hardin. There’s a second version of Harry as a holographic projection generated by something called the Prime Radiant. Via an unexplained method, this version was given a new human body. (So that 2 episodes later they could show him slowing being drowned.)
Tumblr media
In all honesty, I’ve lost interest in both Harrys. I also have become tired of Gaal, and Salvor, her adult daughter. Both are about the same age (mid 20s) due to the use of hyper sleep at different points in their lives. Gaal is always worried she’s doing the wrong thing, and Salvor is usually angry and/or distrusting. After while both these character traits get boring.
Tumblr media
I do like is Lee Pace as Emperor Cleon, aka Day. I like the two other clones, Dawn and Dusk. As a way of protecting the dynasty 3 versions of Cleon exist at any one time, via cloning. They discovered ann unknown enemy tampered with the cloning process and none of them are exact clones of the original.
Tumblr media
I especially like Day’s Majordomo Demerzel, the last sentient Robot of her kind (they’ve reference Azimov’s robot laws which she says she is no longer bound by). According to Wikipedia Demerzel is an evolved version of a character from his Robot novels. She’s played by Laura Birn, a Finnish actor, and is very good. image0.jpeg
After a neatly successful assassination attempt, Pace/Day decides to end the clone dynasty and marry to start a genetic dynasty. This threatens Dawn and Dusk as they would no longer be necessary. The woman who Pace/Day has selected to marry, suspect he killed her family. She’s willing to marry him but doesn’t want to have his children. She’s concocted a plot to have children with Dawn (who is 20ish) without letting Pace/Day know. She calls it a “fucking bloodless coup”.
I also really like Bel Riose, the gay general (Ben Daniels) and Glawen Curr, his lover and second in command (Dino Fetscher). It’s interesting to see a loving intimate gay relationship in a scifi setting. I wish their storyline was expanded.
Tumblr media
They’ve recently introduced a Han Solo type character by the name of Hober Mallow. He has gone on an undercover mission to bargain with Spacers.
Spacers are a genetically created beings necessary for FTL space travel. They have an incredible design - tall and slender with a golden glow and what looks like gold circuitry imbedded in their skin. They have fun names like She-Bends-Light and She-Is-Center.

Here’s a link to a VFX reel.
