Magnagothica: Maleghast is a two to four player skirmish war-game designed for virtual tabletop by Tom Bloom (author of Lancer RPG and others), set in the ancient city of Anzenmezzeron, the great necropolis of a billion corpses, where death is broken.
You are a necromancer, partaker of the Black Sacrament and master of the devouring dead. Fresh from the grave, you set your sights on the terrible treasure at the center of the city: the End of Death. Absolutely insane ending to a magnagothica maleghast game
My goregrinder necromancer had amazing survivability left with 4hp blood rage and the 5+ Defense under 3hp trait, and I had two units left on field whilst the carcass necromancer was on a last stand. This mfkr facing absolute annihilation whips out a shotgun deals 2 damage expends a strength token for another damage and activates double tap to reduce my necromancer to 0, but I stay alive because of blood rage so we’re all good right? WRONG this absolute legend hit a critical hit and pushed my necromancer back one space onto a hazard so as soon as my necromancer starts it’s turn I lose. This gurl gets shot point blank by a shorty comes back cus she too angry to die and then trips and falls on a spike against all odds.
That carcass operative just said “nah, I’d win” and pulls a Clint Eastwood aah move to do the ultimate come around
All I could do was try to kill the necromancer with my other units but it had a physical armour so I literally couldn’t even😭
Ofc the anime faction does the most insane turn around ever, had flashbacks of sensei ammogoblin who exploded himself for the cause or summin😭

i need to play more tabletops. i wish magnagothica and lancer had physical releases. i wish i had people who wanted to play city of mist with me irl. i wish i had the time and energy and money to learn warhammer 40k. i even wish i had people who wanted to play mtg with me more than twice a year. tabletops are so fun and i wish i could play more of them.

THE ARCHIVE
Deep below the bowels of the City, the mindless electronic devil COGNIFEX processes millions upon millions of thoughts, not one of them its own. Nonetheless, its algorithmic desires seethe amidst the current of information, ensnaring incautious delvers, trapping their ghosts forever within its wires. A select few know the ways to pry dark knowledge from the pulses and spasms in the great network, harnessing digital sorcery so they may glide immortal between their master's teeth.
The network hungers, and to abate its witless gnashing they must feed it. The ARCHIVISTS operate as information brokers and data specialists in the City, and they demand payment in memory. Unlike other necromancers, they disdain flesh and bone. Instead, they bind the ghosts of those imprisoned in their Archive into necromechanical automata. Under an Archivist's will, the black-metal husks move in perfect synchronicity.
