she considered skipping out on the festivities. klaus was busy chasing the forbes girl around again , kol was out being a menace and surely with elijah and finn nearby to pick up all the pieces. the whole family was back together again, and rather than be elated by it, rebekah found herself retreating. for a short while, it was nice to pretend she wasn't a mikaelson. she was on her own. no brothers to judge her or mother to fear. all was well enough, especially with stiles in her life. now, her little family reunion only served as a reminder that they'd never work out.

her gaze was nothing short of sad as it caught his own from across the room. stupid, sweet, perfect boy. he should have stayed away from her, and much further away from her brothers who'd rather see him dead than her happy. she did him a favor by turning her head away before stepping out of the room entirely. out of sight, out of mind. or at least she thought until she felt him approaching her out by the garden a short while later.
