Until recently the only DW programs I’d ever watched was their Olympic performances, as well as 08 and 09 worlds. Then I found a full(ish) replay on YT of 2012 worlds FD- VM won obviously with Funny Face which was phenomenal, but even they said maybe wasn’t their very best. I had known VM won both the short and FD, and I knew they won by a fairly big margin. I figured DW must’ve had a fall or missed an element entirely for there to be like a.. I think 4 or 5 point gap.
Then I watched their FD..
O M F G. I had never appreciated what you and others say about their shit skating skills till this point (I’m a dancer so my ice dance judgement comes from the waist up and performance quality- skating skills I can’t quite pick apart as thoroughly).
It was sooo fucking frantic. They did not stop for one second. THE RUNNING TO GAIN SPEEED 😵💫. Her arms swinging all over the place. It is genuinely a miracle they didn’t trip over. Her leg lines were god awful! Constantly bent and toes not pointed. He skates like he just snorted 5 rails before getting on the ice. I was actually dumbfounded.
On what fucking level could they have been considered in the same realm as vm (fairly)???? I for one adore Funny Face and think they performed it to near perfection. Not my fave free dance but even if you knew nothing about ice dance and watched the two teams you’d see VM’s ease in holds, calmness, control over their edges, their rock solid lifts. Tessa’s ballerina arms. They perform to the back row of the arena, they are believable and genuine. It’s LIGHT YEARS difference. I really was left quite speechless.
Then hilariously, in the kc DW score was like 4 points below their SB, with no obvious mistakes, and meryl says ‘that’s abit low’.. I’m thinking omg babe how much more could you possibly want for that burning trash heap of a skate??? (The cynic in me says that was the moment Marina set out burning VM’s career to the ground for her future daughter in law 🫠)
So ok that was an easy win for vm. But then how could there have been such a shift the other way in less than a season?? Like actual legitimate shift in skill in talent?? (there wasn’t, and the impending shit show through to 2014 (and beyond) on the judging side was proof of that) DW’s heads (and scores) were clearly being inflated through their asses enough by marina for them to start so easily winning without actually improving.
If vm make big mistakes that cost points fine. But they were rock fucking solid performing the most difficult programs ever attempted in the sport, only minor booboos (4CC excluded). Ok seasons was not the most stand out program but the performers and dancers and skaters they are could make even the most mundane Bock program an Oscar worthy performance. Charlie’s flailing fruit bat/butterfly at the end of sherizarde (I know what it is I just cbf spelling it right) is burned in my fucking brain and yeah ok Scott’s heavy breathing at the end of seasons wasn’t great and idk where I’m going with this at this point but even looking 12 years back this sport manages to shit me off.

Your lips to god's ears! You spoke no word of a lie and I clapped half way through. I could not agree with you more. D/W being V/M rivals would be laughable if it wasn't so rage inducing. Personally, I wish it had been a Virtue/Moir and Pechelat/Bourzat rivalry, that would have been far more interesting, not to mention, made infinitely more sense. Le sigh.

Hello CritRole fandom! I'm Aster (they/he). a 32 year old writer and enjoyer of fandom things.
So i've been 'out' of the Critical Role fanodm for a while now on Tumblr, but I want to get back into it. I'm behind, but don't mind apoilers of any description, (i prefer them actually so I can prepare for whatever happens!)
I guess I'm just looking for community in that fandom again!
I'm a longtime fan having watched the main campaign and all side campaigns since Vox Machina's 6th episode. I used to watch live but have let that slip a bit lately, I usually watch the Twitch or YT VOD.
My favourite characters from VM are Pike, Vax and Kiki; from Mighty Nein they're Caleb, Essek and Nott/Veth; and from Bells Hells it's gotta be Ashton, Fearne and Orym! I like most of the characters though, and I like most of the side campaigns too, especially Candela Obscura and EXU (prime/the Crown Keepers are my babies!)
As for ships I tend to ship anything that takes my fancy at any time but I lean more into M/M ships tbh. Just personal preference :)
If you want to, you could help me by signal boosting this! Alternatively like this post and I'll probably follow you if you're a CR blog even if just in part. Fanfic and fanwork creators are especially loved, but I love rebloggers and meta writers too.

Lolbit! Reader(M) x Hazbin Hotel PT.2
What happened?
First pov
FFoxy and Y/n landed in the underworld they were powered down. Some random demons were drunk and kept walking until they stumbled upon some heavy metal. They started talking about them and how weird they looked.
Then Ffoxy turned on the light from his eyes and looked at the drunk demons. The demons were too drunk to notice. One of the random demons dumped the rest of his bear on the purple and orange demon while the others watched and laughed...(Skip to 1:50) then a glow from Foxy's eyes were lit up but the demons were too drunk to notice.
Then foxy got up quick on all fours and jumpscared them.
That's when they all started running in fear but one had slipped and hit his head, his vision was blurry. FFoxy walked up to the demon. (It played as the exact same scene in his song, go to 3:00).
After that happened he went back to y/n and tried waking him up. Itt took a couple of minutes but he was able to.

The both of them have been walking around for a while until Ffoxy spotted something.
Foxy gasped" y/n look! A vending machine!" He said wagging his tail side to side. (Skip to 28 sec)
"Hmm.. guess y-you're right. But it's not your everyday VM." Y/n said as they walked over to it.
"Huh?..wdym??" He said confused.
"Well.. it d-does have the word 'Drugs' y/n said in a funny tone. "Ooh..I guess you're right about that" Foxy said beaming happily. Y/n chuckled at the cute sight of his friend... and stopped when he heard a voice from behind them.
They both looked back at where the voice was coming from. And then they saw a pink and white four armed demon, talking to a taxi driver, listening to their conversation. Funtime foxy and y/n could tell who he was, his name and All about him just by scanning him or if they're touched by that person.(skip to 1:40; the scanning part.)

Angel Dust pushed his hands through his hair. "Yeah, yeah, listen." Then fixes it more. "Keep this discreet, you hear me? I can't let out I'm offerin' my services to randos on the street! It was a quick cash grab." The demon made a gesture with his fingers and snapped them at him, smiling. "Ya got it?"
"Pfft! Whatever you say, sl""! Muhehehehehehe!" Travis said sarcastically.
Angel pretended to be offended. "Ouch! Ooh!" He said and turned back to the demon. "Such an insult! Let me know when you've come up with something creative to call me..-" *He grinned and loomed over Travis and pointed at him with all his index fingers and said, "you sack of poorly packaged horse sh"! Tell the missus I said 'hi', Shnuckums!" But kissed him before he said 'shnuckums'.
I laughed historically as I heard the demons insult. But then tried to hold it in as I know that the demon angel dust was about to turn around.
Travis: "Pack a - puh..." He said defeatedly.
As Travis angrily drove off, Angel looked behind him to see a vending machine for drugs.

Can we talk about the 4cc version of Kiss? I forgot how much I love that version! They just seemed like their confidence was turned up to the max! Also I know that S swings his leg up and around right before he dips T but I noticed this is the only version where he also swings his leg up *after* he dips her and it’s even higher than before 🥵idk he was just on fire there. And then I love watching the slow motion replay. Tessa especially looks so god damn majestic. Her facial expressions and attitude that she brought to that performance were so on point. What a star 🤩
DAMN STRAIGHT WE CAN.
This is probably the version of Prince (other than ACI) that I’ve watched the least (also where TF is the nationals video?????). The terrible camera work from this event doesn’t bother me so much in the FD bc the more artsy/free vibe of Latch, but Prince.. with half the NTMLSS cut off.. grrrr
But ignoring that uncomfortable watching experience it has some admirable qualities I’d forgotten to fully appreciate.
Firstly- not that I’ve seen the whole comp but I’ve seen the skate order, and seeing that it’s based off world rankings they skated earlier than they normally would’ve, so this burst of energy (and superior talent) would’ve been such a wake up for everyone.
You can definitely see them starting to amp up the energy and precision in this version- the worlds skate being supreme. In the first opening, voguing moves T is so much sharper and S has so much character and is super precise with is movements.
+ this moment from T : the pony tail whip and the sassy snap 🫰
Also in the midline step with the hip hop moves they were so in to it and really trying to feel loose and express that cool kinda hip hop (which I much prefer over the majority of the other programs that year).
Now would you believe me if I told you I never even noticed how high he kicks he is leg after the dip here!?! It’s partly the bad camera angle that’s blocking it, and he does it so quick you’ll miss it. But damn is that hot or what?!?? 🥵
God they are just so cool and casual about their amazingness! They know they are the best good, they perform with so much confidence- never look apologetic for being out there, but they also do not offend you or turn you off by there confidence. They have mastered (they always had this quality) the delicate balance of being into each other and into themselves (in these kinds of programs) as well as performing/interacting with each other and the audience. I’ve never seen another team that’s able to do that like them. So often it’s one or the other, or a mix in the one performance bc they haven’t figured it out. I really don’t know if that’s the sort of thing that can be trained- I really think VM are born performers, and they are each other’s artistic soulmate.
Moving on, their blues pattern is just soo good as well. The deepest edges, covering so much ice. The musicality- I watch every other team (I did this watching the Beijing olys as well) and I count it to VM’s timing- obs they are all doing the same tempo but no one conducts the music like VM do- it’s like they guide the music with their dancing, they are so in the music it’s scary. (Also his twizzle into the first step is m a d n e s s I’ll never shut up about it) 🥵🥵
S has a little boo boo in the middle of the in-hold pattern (which is maybe another reason I don’t watch this version much) but you so easily forget about it and you’re almost immediately right back in it with them. I will say though I think you could feel it in him a bit- like he kept the reminder of that mistake with him throughout the rest of it (I only say that as someone who has watched and studied them so much I pick up on those things) but still overall a superior performance.
I just thought about this watching the video to write this post, and you know how both they (and the fandom) have alluded to it being kind of obvious T was more of a leader this season then ever before.. I think the place that is most clear during actual skating is in the twizzles in Prince- not Latch at all for some reason.. only Prince. Now S was shaky on his twizzles all season (I’ve written before about maybe why) and it seems odd to say that one of them could be ‘leading’ in an individually executed element, but it’s just a thought that popped into my head watching it that.. idk something about the rhythm.. it feels kinda like T is guiding/setting the rhythm, or maybe it’s that hers (twizzles) were soooo solid all season that you’re confident in watching her- like she kinda covers for him in a way?? Idk.. just a thought, but it’s really fascinating to think about how that dynamic operates between them and they could share duties like that (@ VM start your podcast I need more info on this super specific shit)
And then yeah the rest of it is great. Just them being rockstars, amazing lift, crowd on its feet, me in tears, the usual.
I’ve read others say and I agree with it that often if one of them has a bad skate (but usually if it’s him that messes up) they will deprive themselves of a post-skate hug bc they feel they don’t deserve it. Here he messed up and you can tell he was mad so instead of it being ‘well T did good she deserves a hug’ it’s ‘I made a mistake I don’t deserve a hug from my kiddo’.. which lets reestablish: we do not know this for certain.. but it is the vibe I (and others obviously) get. Then there’s times where one does mess up and the other is insistent on a hug (ie worlds this year or NHK the next year when he messed up the twizzles) (also he was very insistent on always giving her hugs earlier around 2010/her injuries).
So yes this is a great performance- every time you could see them getting better and better, which still you watch stuff from 2010 and it’s like ‘how will they get better than that’ and yet they did- they were never satisfied and I love that about them!
Thank for this anon, let’s open it up to more of these- send through a specific performance of any (VM) program with a few key points (like the above ask) and I’ll elaborate- can’t promise they’ll get done straight away but I’ll work my way through them.

Read if: You want to laugh, and also swoon, and you love devious little Lilly working her ghostly magic in service of those she loves the most.
Fic: The Washing Machine Story by @best-laid-plaids
Rating: M for sexy times, and shenanigans, and your regular adult swears
Tropes and Themes: This is domesticity in the sexiest way possible, discussions of marriage in a non-traumatizing way
Read if: You want to be delighted. And yes, technically, the part of this story that takes place in a market is about 400 words long. BUT! Its inclusion is educational, because it goes to show how open to interpretation these prompts are. Good, right??!!
Honorable mention to The Rotten Ones by @ghostcat3000. While not an l/v fic, it is one of the fics within her masterful collection bridging Logan and Veronica-centric stories all the way from pre-series through book canon. While I was researching at @sunskate’s costume question, I ended up on this YouTube channel. The uploader has got an amazing, astounding variety of old skating events. While it is possible that I have seen videos from them before, I don’t recall them off the top of my head - and the quality is great too. Meanwhile, although I have seen these skates before, it is always interesting to see them as a whole rather than just the program. For someone like me who always enjoyed even the small moments on broadcasts beyond the competitive skate, a whole show like this can be a bit of a gold mine.
This particular video doesn’t actually feature V/M. It is a broadcast that they aired it for a while that highlighted the gold medallists at the novice and junior levels, and as we saw from the 2001 edition*, sometimes the earlier levels too. In the 2002 season, V/M were competing as novices, and according to their book, they had a fall in their competition which ultimately left them in third place. As such, their skate is not highlighted here as the show only made room for the gold medalists. However, if you watch the opening credits you will see V/M in a small snippet of their free dance that year. I don’t recall ever getting a video of that dance, and certainly this does not give us any real inkling of it; however, it spoke volumes to me that the bronze medallists were still promising enough, that they made it into that sequence.
*Previously, I had only ever seen edited versions, whereas this is the entire episode, though VM are only in a small section. I always seem to forget just how much younger and tinier they were than their competition in the early years. 😂

Watching the pairs short from Lombardia this morning and Ghilardia/Ambrosini had a boot problem and stopped and took a 6 pt deduction. Ling/Wein's interruption for a boot problem at Lake Placid last month cost them 5. When VM stopped for Tessa's leg cramps at 4CC in 2013, why didn't they get any deduction?

Hi anon,
So there are a few different kinds of breaks and they can be instigated by the skater or the referee. I haven’t watched the pairs short program so I can’t comment on G/A but for Ling/Wein they were blown dead by the referee because the referee determined that the costume issue was a safety issue. If you as a skater are whistled to stop by the referee, you must stop or risk disqualification. For obvious reasons, a loose boostrap could be very dangerous in ice dance, especially for lifts and any transition which involves a mini-lift. L/W were mandated to stop to fix his boot because the referee made the call that his bootstrap significantly increased the likelihood of injury or other adverse events (pretty obviously). In case of a costume malfunction, that is deemed somewhat in the skaters’ control (not saying I agree with the logic this is just the rationale) but a medical stoppage is not. For example, a skater is responsible for tying and securing their laces and therefore will receive a deduction if they come loose but would not if they got a bloody nose (not controllable).
In 2013 there was a bit of an uproar because not only did V/M stop in the middle of their FD at 4CC but so did P/C at JWC. These were medical stoppages and therefore did not get deductions. Tessa has a condition called Chronic Exertional Compartments Syndrome where her muscles are overly restricted by her fascia resulting in intense nerve pain and reduced blood flow. I’m sure that when Scott was explaining to the referee the cause of the stoppage that her (documented) compartments syndrome was preventing her from skating and was specifically a safety risk when it came to her kicking up into that straight line lift. CCES is pretty obviously improved by a break because those extra seconds yelp reduce muscle inflammation and restore blood flow.
Gabi sprained her ankle the day of the JWC free dance in warm ups (might have also included a fracture I don’t remember the specifics). You can see that Gabi’s right ankle is taped to high heaven and back in the videos. P/C stop right after a series of transitions that’s pretty heavy on Gabi’s right ankle with a leaning besti squat and lunge and before their circular step sequence. Both of her one foot sections within the steps were on her right foot and you can clearly see that her skating throughout the entire program is affected by limited strength and mobility in her ankle. Again with the stoppage there was a clearly documented and visible injury and when talking with the medical personnel (after the referee) it was clear that they could continue within 3 minutes.

i’m the same anon with the long rant lol. i just want to say welcome back and kudos to you for gracefully answering those anons. i hope that you were not stressed with it. just know that the vmin community truly appreciate your posts 🥹.
this is actually a continuation from my previous ask but i want to share more in a lighter and more emotional note. this is more about how people are downplaying th’s support/love to jm and a reminder on how th loves jm.
i want to bring this up bc whatever th does, antis, solos even fans will find fault with his actions and i feel sad for him. people are ignoring the fact that th loves through big and small acts. idk but to me people appreciate moments that are Loud (i can’t explain it but it’s like when th outright says ily, i like you the most, best friend, chingu) and do not notice or give less importance that th also loves/supports jm through the smallest and most subtle ways. i can list a lot of those moments but it will take me forever lmao but i will mention some.
right off the bat the moment i thought of first is the “needle and thread” one from bv3. like th just bought when he heard jm needed it and he did not immediately say it to jm that he bought it for him. th only told them (members) when they were wondering why there was a needle and thread in the shopping cart and th proceeded to say it was for jm’s pants.
another is when jm says he is alone or in the company, th facetimes/calls him and they do their roleplays kzkzz. it may seem not really “loud” but to me it’s th’s way of saying “hey don’t worry, you’re not alone. i’ll keep you company even if we’re far from each other”.
another is whenever they tease with each other like th teasing jm is just so cute for me (e.g. jm’s “i’m sorry” during the un speech) because to me it translates that “lmao but i am fond of you”
th giving portions of food to jm bc he wants his jm to be healthy 🥹. also i love the moment during an award show when jm was drinking water and th subtly moves a water bottle near jm in case he needs more water.
my favorite tho is when he looks at jm when jm is not looking at him!!! there are so many instances of that and i’m JSJKSJSK. he always does that especially during concerts. (i noticed also that when jm looks back, th will suddenly avoid his eyes… 👀) also moments when jm feels emotional or sick or sad, th always looks at him. you can see that he is concerned for him.
ok this one is not obvious but remember the time th posted on his story that he was watching our blues and he said that it was his drama of his life and he cannot wait for the next episode. he didn’t mention “with you” because he didn’t have to. i think he watched it because his soulmate’s song is there but he also ended up liking the show itself. he does not expilicitly talked about “with you” but still showed support through his own way which brings me to th’s “quietness” during jm’s solo period. his “quietness” is a sign of support on his own way (aside from his weverse comment and liking jm’s ig posts. again, why are people forgetting about this jxjzjsk). it’s like, “it’s jm’s time! let’s celebrate his artistry by focusing on jm and only on jm” in a not obvious way (just like our blues/with you). he did not need to mention online but i know for sure he was proud of jm. heck, vm talked about songwriting for hours and th wanted a dance subunit with jm (also, i want to say i’m so proud of jm!! 🥺 and the success he deservedly got).
perhaps, i am reaching with the last parts but to me th has such a wonderful mind with his unique and out of the boz thinking (i can talk more about this ndjdk) like he sees something in another perspective and yeaah i just love his beautiful mind dndj (idk if it’s understandable but i hope you get the gist lol)
also jm knows about th’s small acts of love and supports and acknowledges it. jm’s reply on th’s bv 2 letter: “they might say i only tend to th and not him. but i actually learn a lot from him. he makes me feel good and touches my heart often. that’s when i feel grateful to have th as my friend so i want to say i’m grateful.”

Thank you so much for this. The problem with a lot of people is that they expect too much. They want to always know what is happening with their idols lives forgetting that these people need something called privacy. Little wonder why JK deactivated his Instagram account.
And another thing is people are too focused on the present. They are focused on what they see right now. They don't care what happened in the past or what might happen in the future. They want things done right away. They want to see their idols communicating. They want to know everything that's happening in their lives. And if that doesn't happen, they lash out and look for who is at fault for things not going the way they want, apportioning blames when they have zero idea about what's really going on with their artist. If they are doing well, if they are even eating at all, if their mental health is doing fine, if they fell ill. How their lives are? They don't know. All they do is sit in their homes and bring up all sorts of reasons in their heads.

So on and so forth. Unfounded theories born out of people's imaginations when in reality, they don't even know if Jimin and Taehyung have drinks in private. They don't even know whether they video chat or call each other. They don't even know if Jimin was in a good headspace, if he even eats at all. If Taehyung is really as happy as he seems. Wasn't he the one who cried in the soop, the one he had with his Wooga squads for reasons only he knows.
No wonder Taehyung got angry recently on a live when he told people to be more creative with their questions. They were asking him mundane things that has little to do with his present circumstances. So all in all, I hope people would just let things slide and stop jumping into conclusions. They are full grown adults and they will do what's best for themselves. I don't understand why people are coming into your inbox trying to attack L/L. I really like them too. Of all the young teams coming up in North America, I think they have the best skating skills, speed, and performance quality. Plus, they've shown themselves capable of some range in terms of what they can dance to, and that's always exciting for me as a fan. They aren't VM. They have their own strengths and weaknesses, but I think they're finally starting to have some awareness from the judges and support from the fed this year, and it's nice to see them have some success.
It's always like that after they compete, people come at me and at @macaroni-rascal for comparing them to V/M and for saying they are the best ever or that they are the saviors of ice dance - none of these things we actually ever said LOL.
L/L are exciting to me, they have the speed, the skating skills, they have decent to great packaging and material and it's fun to watch a time rising who actually deserved to rise. I enjoy watching them fulfill their potential. I have no idea why that seems to ruffle so many feathers LOL.

Watching depp trial is all fun and games until it starts to get toxic af !!!! I remember some days it got so toxic, i couldn't believe people could do that to each other, mostly amber (m team Johnny , don't come @ me) ...that f*CKING b*tch..
So my point is .... After watching the trial entire day I had to watch like 100 VM videos TO DETOXIFY......I HAD TO REMEMBER WHAT LOVE IS...THAT PEOPLE COULD STILL BE PURE AND GOOD... without being a mess .. without any toxic shit... Relationships could still be SIMPLY LOVE
Why can't people be like that? Why there's so much hate ?

Ok I just watched Hubbell/Donohue’s 2021 RD at worlds to Burlesque and I’m obsessed with this music for the Finnstep having really only watched VM’s Finnstep. Have you seen the performance? Do you like it? And if you’re so inclined to do this, how would you compare their technique to VM in Dream a Little Dream (which I love so much)? Thanks!

I have seen that performance. I love the finnstep, it's probably one of my favourite ice dance patterns, along with the golden waltz and the tango romantica.
I enjoyed it a lot that season because I thought Hubbell and Donohue had one of the better finnsteps. I'm sad to say you could really see a decline in quality in the level of steps since 2014, and most team really struggled with the quick, detailed, and intricate movements required for that pattern.
Everyone, Madi included really struggled with the twizzle at the beginning of the pattern, the women were putting their foot down, they were falling out of it, not actually doing a twizzle at all, it was rough out here. Tessa's twizzle was wonderful, she was sure, quick and her and Scott stayed in character. I also think Tessa and Scott skated closer together, which they were known for and experts at. By the time the finnstep came back around, the open hold trend had been en vogue for more than 6 years, and you could tell. H/B had solid speed and kept up their speed, but they could get a little messy in their feet/legs and didn't have quick snap that I think V/M excelled at.
To quote the iconic Tracy Wilson: "They say a finnstep should be like sparkling champagne. Bubbly, light, and crisp."
She compared Tessa and Scott to Dom Perignon, and I think Madi and Zack were just didn't have the level of effervescence and ease that was required for the steps to really flourish, but they did a solid job.

Ice Dance Falls, Fails and Flubs
Part 2
1. The Aboriginal Dance
Cultural appropriation at its finest. Seriously. How was this not banned??? VM’s Carmen gets banned but not this??
Points for not going with the standard ol’ Russian folk dance but this should never have been allowed. Aboriginal dance is an ancient tradition that dates back 60 000 years, it is a religion for the aboriginal people. There were once over 700 different tribes across Australia, each with their own unique storytelling. It is part of Aboriginal Dreamtime culture and is a way of passing down legends and stories through generations.
So, what specifically is wrong with this above, well other than ALL OF IT:
The music: this is not Aboriginal music, idk what it is but it is not utilising traditional instruments, the “singing” is not culturally accurate.
The costumes: this is just so offensive and inappropriate. Yes, aboriginal culture and dances use face paint (oca to be exact) but not like this. They do not where leaves all over themselves, nor do they wear strings. At one point in the season, he was dressed in a darker unitard and black face- AT LEAST that was banned.
The choreography: this is just not the kind of dancing that can be done on ice. Flamenco, yes, waltzs, yes, country dance, sure. Not this. This Russian team makes it out as though Aboriginals are Neanderthals. They are not. Their dances are are pieces of art and communicate 10s of thousands of years of history. The nose rubbing is not aboriginal but more a Māori (new zealand/ pacific islands) custom.
How this wasn’t deducted all the component scores I have no idea, it’s a disgrace this won an Olympic medal
2. Yuri Balkov: Human Turd ���
Partly responsible for the shit show that was 1998 ice dance. Banned for a year then back on the panel several times again, and was up to his same shit once again here in 2002. Spineless turd with no respect for the sport he is.
3. Nailed the Ending
This is much better with volume (timestamp 1:11:00 on the Beijing FD video).
Point 1. The lil ‘sexy time’ moment 😖
Point 2. Why is it necessary to put a move like this right at the end when you have just done a lift?
Point 3. Who came up with this? Of course he was gonna dropped her! She has no point of contact on him so how is she suppose to get upright again when she does not have Tessa Virtue’s core of steel??
Point 4. Obviously on the first watch you notice the drop first, but just before that you get an elbow to the face- lovely.
Point 5. The perfectly timed crash drop on the music. Art. I hope she was ok, this is a horrible thing to happen, but the musically comedy of it is just gold.
Also this was a very bad fd.. so boring, bad music.. this ending kinda came par for the course.

Come on man! How hard is it to stay up right? (ice skating is very hard but these are Olympic level athletes… supposedly).
It truly does not surprise me it was considered taking this “sport” out of the Olympics. Thank god they didn’t and two precious bby angels came among to rescue it.
Oh yeah btw.. this won a medal 🫣😵💫🥴
6. 22 year old high level athlete doesn’t take responsibility for her own costume; chaos ensues.
I was always taught from starting dance at 3 years old- your costume is your responsibility. If it doesn’t feel right, you get the safety pin or needle and thread and you fix it, or you at least make sure someone else does it up for you PROPERLY, obviously no one wants this to happen to them esp not on global television but it was solely her responsibility to fix it (things are different in shows/companies where you have costumers , but you individually- your own costume you are responsible for). To continue complaining about this for the next 4 years is a childish joke and even if the hideous green dress had stayed together you still shouldn’t have won 😘
7. ISU after 1998: “We’re gonna fix ice dance judging”. ISU in 2002: “Psych”.
I hate this and love this an equal amount.
The synchronicity of Rod and Tracey: “They’ve been beaten, by the Israelis”. (Pls don’t take that out of context rn). Tracey was just 100% DONE with all of this.
From Margarita and Povilas in their crowns, her throwing hers off and storming out. Jeff Buttle shouting ‘WHAT THE FUCK??’ Iconic.
8. Scooter’s Nose Bleed
Poor bby. Iconic way to finish off your first National Championships win. Then they make you go out and do an encore 🤦♀️. I love in the first gif how Shay pops into the shot 😂
Also ironic thinking about a certain team at 2017 worlds getting blood on each other and their reaction… do you think T even blinked twice at getting S’s nose blood on her?? I don’t think so..

Vinyl Moon Volume 97: The Pond Beyond
With Strength, Brandon.
This volume required more strength to digest than I imagined it would, but by the end the pros outweighed the cons.

Let's get into first impressions.
Did I over-hpye this volume before it hit my turntable? Perhaps. I blame a simple premise: KOI BIAS.
The album art truly hooked me in on this one.
I grew up watching my parents' 20 gallon fish tank. I raised Betta in college. I was mildly dismayed wen my husband announced my dreams of aqua-scaping the apartment were officially cancelled when we adopted our cat-not-catfish.
Stereotypically, I worked at an aquarium. One that was home to 90 koi in an interactive exhibit. My employment ended; my visits to pet and feed my babies have not.
Koi pond album was definitely a catch of the month from the sheer looks of it.
VM 97 Listening Log
A1: TRIPPY CELLO INTRO. THIS WILL BE SUCH A DOPE VOLUME. Love the Vocal Timbres. LOVE IT ALL 10/10.
A2: ...was hoping the strings would remain constant. Credit goes to the funky bass line. The synth stabs are a bit too harsh. Downtempo ending was a nice contrast to the mainly repetitive song.
A3: Instantly love the accent of the vocalist and the shimmer guitar and synth. Minimalist chorus, but super effective. I honestly just see Ncuti as the 15th Doctor dancing in his TARDIS with this pumping out the jukebox. More my speed than A2.
A4: Hand percussion is always appreciated in my book. especially when it is slightly more prominent than a set. Downtempo groove and a filtered voice really brings out the isolation vibes the lyrics are giving off. Wall of soft sounds round out the ending. This might be my favorite section of the song. This one kind of just hangs in the air. Fits the lyrics. Not badly written at all, but didn't jump out at me. Still, better than A2.
A5: Traditional shoegaze bass melts into horns? They are not too bright. Feeling this jazz band feel. From jazz band to near silence and oceanic pads. Soft filters, gentle flute, super quiet orchestral brass chords. How did we get here? Compositional genius. Final, darker recurrence of the jazz band ends with a radio fade. 10/10 RECOMMEND. NUANCED SOUNDSCAPE. <CHEF'S KISS>
B1: How can this go from so right to so cloying in 21 seconds? Duet voices and ALL instrumentation hammering the same exact beat pattern in unison. MAKE IT STOP. The best retreat we get is the voices alternating and very basic accompaniment instruments. Voices have not changed their rhythms at all. The only "bridge" they muster is a guitar solo that follows the rhythm of the previous vocal line ...much like the entire song. A side ended in a 10. B side starts with a 1. where s this going to go?
B2: Opening is promising...until vocals start up. It's giving older Taylor Swift. Also giving dixie chicks? Or it sounds like the artist who sang "I'm Gonna Soak Up the Sun". This is not my personal style. Nothing wrong with it songwriting wise. Some people will LOVE this. For me, another dud. I fear for B3.
B3: SWEET RELIEF. This is a bop. Simplicity and plate reverb of surf rock meets a male vocalist who sounds similar to Fleet Foxes. There are a few guitar stabs throughout the chorus, but they add to the song instead of act as a distraction from the vocalist. Well balanced. Loved this little riser section in the kit. Loved all of it, actually. BRING ON B4.
B4: Okay. Stark contrast here. The very few seconds of dissonant notes were creepy in a fun way. This song is straight forward. Too much so for my taste. The main 4/4 beat is just slammed into your brain. Not much of a rhythm section or groove to this. Lyrics are fun though. Well-written electro pop. Great for a general pop audience. Do I think it belongs on this volume exactly where it sits in this track listing? Not really? Will I jam to this after leaving a toxic work environment? Probably bumping this on the way home from my last day. It's love-hate for me. Slightly less hopeful for B5, but there truly is sonic art in this volume, so who knows.
B5: Cutesy. I will take cute. This reminds me of the 2010s. It's catchy. It's easy on the ears. Love the folk instruments. It balances lyrical content with proper instrumental breaks...and just like that, it's done! A short little palette cleanser. For me, a palette cleanser was necessary. Ready? or not? for B6.
B6: SWEET JEEBUS ALL HOPE IS NOT LOST. Textured bliss. Uptempo, retro synths. Good balance between walls of sound in the chorus/bridge and minimalist instrumentation in the verses. The bridge gets an edgy intro, then BOOM wall of sound. This gives Walk the Moon's "Next in Line" vibes. Ends on a choppy arpeggio. This last track hit me hard. Glad I didn't give up when the water got rough.
PROS
The songs that I loved from this volume, I ADORED. They are going into shuffle rotation STAT. Absolute Bangers. I think I have found more bands to follow and fall ever deeper in love with.
CONS
There were definitely a few BIG NOPE songs on this album for me, and some songs fell flat. On top of a difference in taste, the volume lacked something I crave in finished works: COHESIVTY/COHESION. This volume felt like a jukebox or a radio station. I didn't find the inner story. I didn't feel like the songs were related whatsoever, and sometimes they didn't sound great one after the other.
OVERALL
This volume was important, but it was mid. Don't skip it outright. My ear's trash could be your ear's oasis. For me, Ill take the good, leave the bad, and most likely will not listen to volume 97 as a unit again.
