Some more Longoth Ur, funky giant sea (volcano?) slug didgeridoo. He can slither like a snake but those are actually tentacles that tuck in tightly when he doesn’t need em

an excerpt from yet another mash wip, posted to hopefully motivate/shame myself into continuing it. it’s still a pretty rough draft, but i’d love to hear what people think!
premise: hawkeye finds out that frank’s parents, as per the show, were wildly physically abusive. unlike on the show, he doesn’t brush it off.
Dear Dad,
I've just found out that Frank Burns - he of the weak chin and aggressively patriotic disposition - had a rougher go of it than I had ever imagined.
Hawkeye stopped writing, irritated with himself. A rougher go of it? What a stupid way to soften the idea of child abuse. And wasn't it also stupid to name Frank so directly, when his mail might be searched at any time and subjected to overview by one of the censors still left over from World War II? Not that there would be anything they might do about it, but it was probably better to keep names out of it. He scratched out his first sentence and started again.
I've just found out that someone here at camp was abused as a child - quite terribly, it seems. We aren't close in the sense of being friends, but we work together. I can't stop thinking about the idea, Dad. This person isn't the most convivial soul you've ever encountered, but even if he or she had been a truly rotten kid, nothing could ever excuse laying your hands on a child that way. Definitely not ever the way I've heard described. It's the kind of thing that shapes the person you become.
Hawkeye stopped writing. What did he want to ask his father? Dear Dad, I really hate this guy, and knowing all this is making it harder for me to go on hating him. How can I stop caring that his parents beat the tar out of him when he was barely old enough to tie his shoes? He rubbed at his eyes. This whole mess was giving him a headache.
Thinking about Emma Vanity and Emmeline Vance right now. Like idk anything about either of them. I'm just noting how similar their names are and thinking it'd be funny if they just pranked everyone by switching their names around.
"I'm Emma Vance. Yes, that's always been my name. What do you mean? Are you okay? Do I need to escort you to the Hospital Wing?"
And probably even try to push it by having Emmeline show up to Quidditch practice and insisting that yes, of course, she's on the team. Don't be ridiculous.
NO FR, they would so take advantage of their similar names 100%
it would drive everyone mad because they won't stop. everyone can tell the difference (or at least those close to them can), yet they just won't stop. they'll keep insisting.
ppl in the yj tag insisting jackie is a baby butch... where am i. butchest girl tumblr can handle before they get scared (teenager in neutral tone sweater vest and pants)
Vanity sizing is when clothing brands purposely size their clothing to be bigger than the labelled size. Often this is done so that customers feel better about themselves when trying on that brands clothing, and so are more likely to shop there again. However this has made it extremely difficult to shop without trying clothes on before hand. Consequently making online shopping near impossible. The current climate of fashion is one where one size fits no one.
Since the 1950s, clothing sizes have grown exponentially. What was once a size 14 in 1958 would be a modern day UK size 6, or American size 2, which are usually the smallest sizes available in store. Diesel, one of fashions biggest names, is of the worst for vanity sizing. A labelled 34” waistline at Diesel was measured to actually be 37”. Diesel isn’t the only brand that does this, other huge fashion brands such as Zara, H&M, Levi’s, and Calvin Klein are all guilty of vanity sizing.
Cloth sizing follows the shifts in weight in society, so as the population averages bigger weights, so will clothing adjust to fit the most people. But lying about sizing benefits no one, except the companies profiting.
