You’ll have to trust me on this. Behind the tarpaulin (and through the rain) is the world-famous Bluenose II.
No points for guessing we’re in Lunenburg NS. It seems most people are smarter and don’t come here in January.

Gaff Point Trail - Riverpoint, NS
Distance: 6.78km
Time: 2 hr 10 min
Level: Intermediate
To start the hiking season we took a trip down past Lunenburg to Gaff Point Trail, NS. It's a beautiful sunny day, 12° - great weather for a good hike. The trail starts on the beach, extraordinarily rocky or you can take the path beside, up the hill, and over. Starting on the rocks was a good choice, definitely need to invest in some better shoes but it was a fun starting off point. This trail isn't one I would walk in sandals, the signs warn of ticks - so wear pants!

The path then led into the forest, which was gorgeous. There are a lot of roots coming out of the ground though, so be sure to look where you are going. The forest has lookoff points, with lots of big ole' rocks.

Once you hit the point of the hike there are beautiful rocky lookoff points. The water had me questioning if I was still in Canada for a minute.

Throughout the second half of the hike there are many boards/skinny bridges on the ground so practice your balancing skills!
Tumblr media
To be honest, the entire place is a tripping hazard - from the rocks to the roots coming out of the ground. We found ourselves looking down a lot more than up, so make time to take some breaks at the lookout points. Bring a windbreaker or jacket with you if you plan on going on a windier day, we took ours off when we reached the forest but the beach was COLD, so we were very thankful that we chose to bring them.
I highly recommend checking out this beautiful trail! It's definitely more
LUNCHTIME - Rebecca's Restaurant, Lunenburg, NS
After the hike we were ravenous, so it was time to EAT. About 35 minutes away from the trail is Rebbecca's Restaurant. A place that is known by local vegans for having vegan-friendly options! I ordered the Knock Your Plants Off Burger - I think I will keep my plants on though. The apricot jelly was nice and sweet, but the patty itself could use a bit more salt. The side salad is that - a side salad. The iced coffee was okay, but I wouldn't order it again. I find I am extremely picky with my coffee these days, so I would recommend giving it a try if you need some caffeine after that long ass hike. The ingredients are very fresh and I felt comfortably full after we finished.
The food was okay overall and I would eat there again if I was in the area. Next time, I want to try the Falafel wrap!

Wikipedia has a very detailed description of the ship including all its dimensions. It was built of…

New Treasures of Nova Scotia
We’ve journeyed to Nova Scotia several times before, my guy and me, but it’s one of those places that beckons for a return adventure, and so we heeded the call and went forth. The first leg of the trip found us tailgating in the parking lot for The Cat in Bar Harbor. When we had gone inside to pick up our tickets, we realized we couldn’t take tomatoes or bananas into Canada and so we put them on…
