It really does make me mad that every kid was nominated for that award except Caleb. I mean even Joesph? Like they all did an amazing job, but that includes Caleb. His performance made me feel the most and this is just horrible.

Okay, so I know a lot of Bylers will parallel the Lumax handholding-when-scared thing to the Byler hand-holding-when scared thing (there’s a Jopper one there as well in S3 and probably a Jancy one I forget), and many of us were waiting for a “crazy together” parallel in S4 on the couch scene and were (initially) disappointed when they had Mike grab Will’s shoulder instead of his hand, but quite honestly, I’m glad they went with the shoulder grab. For one, it still parallels Lumax. Also, ever since Robin and Steve held hands when scared in S3 and Robin grabbed Nancy’s hand when scared in S4 (you can def argue for romantic Ronance for this but for me I’m using this platonically), the romantic/platonic line for hand holding has gotten a little blurred. In S1-2, yeah, I’d say they were romantic. But the script kinda flipped on us in S3-4. If they had written in Mike grabbing Will’s hand, I would have been slightly concerned because now we have that evidence of Robin and Steve holding hands and it not being romantic. And if the Duffers are really going the route with Byler (which at this point they have to), a handhold as romantic foreshadowing would have been way too obvious. Is the shoulder touch taking the place of handholding for romantic connotations? Who’s to say?

oh how i so desperately crave a parallel to the hand holding in s2 but it's a much more obviously romantically charged moment...i totally see hand holding being their Thing™️

the thing is, we pretty much already got this parallel in the cabin scene, except instead of a handhold it’s a hand on will’s shoulder. i find this VERY interesting bc it’s almost undeniably a s2 parallel, but if they’d gone for another handhold it would’ve made it blatantly obvious that it’s supposed to be romantic (on both ends). now that they’re older and will’s feelings are out in the open (to the audience), if they do another handhold—especially one initiated by mike—it would practically confirm reciprocated byler, so they’re probably saving moment(s) like that for s5.

in conclusion… BYLER HANDHOLD IN S5 WHEN. MAKE IT PARALLEL JOPPER, JANCY, AND LUMAX WHERE THEY GRAB EACH OTHER’S HANDS WHEN THEY’RE SCARED AND THEN GET FLUSTERED AND PULL AWAY. GIVE IT TO ME NOW.

Facts. And I think it's interesting someone pointed out the other day that it's not Byler who was paralleled to L*max, but L*max that was paralleled to Byler. Byler had these moments first in season 2. The similar supernatural storyline. Even the Byler handhold paralleling the "she was just scared" moment happened first, as well as the "what if he spies back?" moment in episode 5 whereas Max and Lucas's "if he finds out where we are, will he send those dogs after us?" conversation happened in episode 8. So why is one seen as romantic by the GA but the other is just friendship? Heteronormativity, my friends.. and sometimes, depending on the person, homophobia.

I'm honestly really excited to see the California/Russia plotline! Which, seem to be the two we don't really know a lot about. Excited to see what happens with the surfer boy pizza gang, and Joyce Hopper and Murray. (I genuinely can barely wait.) For ships, well- Byler obviouslyyyy, I'm also a fan of Lumax too! (They are my fav straight couple/ship in Stranger Things) Also, not related to Lumax, but I honestly just hope that the whole entire season isn't just Byler angst, I really want them to have soft moments, another handhold/ callback to crazy together (or a kiss :)) would be just perfect. Can't wait!

no byler was included… but that’s okay. ive got a theory

i’ll start with the jancy slides

very mutual handholding if you ask me. all these moments you can feel the romantic tension (or in the last pictures case, confirmation/resolution) between them

and then jopper

once again chock full of romantic tension. are you catching my drift yet

and here’s lumax… it starts deviating here

it’s really just max holding onto lucas. not much romantic tension to be seen or felt. no reciprocation.

now. these were the m*leven slides

similar to lumax, notice how they chose pictures in which it was only el holding on to mike’s hand while he’s… more or less holding himself? once again, there is no reciprocation here.

the canon couples (or soon to be) are painted in a very mutual light. both lumax and m*leven aren’t.

going back to the release of season 4’s posters, and also season 3’s, these pictures plus the way they were situated in the posters shows who won’t be endgame. or, at the very least, who breaks up.

so the fact that byler isn’t included here actually leaves a lot of room to breathe. there is no confirmation or denial.

Hi there, me and my family just finished rewatching all of stranger things and I noticed something. So during that scene when Dustin, Robin, and Steve are on the rooftop of the mall, spying on the Russians, there's a moment when Robin and Steve hold hands because they got spooked after the Russians heard the binoculars hit the metal.

I find this interesting because there isn't a specific zoom in on their hands (aren't in love or endgame because one of them is gay) unlike what happened with Lucas and Max in S2 (end up together by end of the season.) to me this made the byler handholding scene seem more significant because we actually have an instance of handholding that turns out to not be romantic and one that does, meaning the byler handholding scene has the same connotations as the lucas and max one

im not sure if this makes sense or not, and i could be interpreting it wrong, but i thought it might interest you

you're right It is a good proof that not every handhold is romantic 😉 and I think the byler hand hold is similar to the lumax hand hold and has similar connotations. that being said, there's two ways people hold hands in the show, the typical way, and when one person puts their hand on top of the other persons hand.

Every couple besides byler and Jopper, holds hands the normal way when it's clearly visible on screen.but byler and jopper hold hands the other way, one hand on top of the other...which I think might signify couples that are endgame? but I'm not 100% sure about that theory just yet.
