Does the main character in Lullabye even have a name cuz i love them so much and it would bring me great joy if they played an important role in the next Hylics game. That is all.

What’s one genre you’ve never written that you’d like to try?

Mystery/Thriller is one genre that sounds like a lot of fun to write! Who doesn’t like a good mystery story, especially ones involving murder? The one big thing that’s holding me back though is that, bizarrely, I actually haven’t read many mystery thriller books. Not even a single Agatha Christie! I’ve watched plenty of films of that genre, old and new, but it’s probably best for me to read that genre if I were to try emulating it in my writing, I would think.

What is the most recent line you’ve written?

“OK. Let’s just chill out here for a while.”

What music do you listen to when you write?

Mostly instrumental music, especially lighter electronic albums or instrumental prog albums. The Snow Goose by Camel is an all-time favorite of mine, as is Green by Hiroshi Yoshimura. If I’m writing for a video game (which I usually am) I’ll often listen to their osts for inspiration. That’s what I did with my Pathologic fic and my most recent Hylics fic (which I may either post tonight or tomorrow 👀)

On rarer occasions I will listen to specific songs on loop if the lyrics really help me with the mood of the piece. One notable example was the song Lullaby by The Cure that I listened to at least a dozen times while writing The Moon is Down. It just fit the tone of what I was writing so perfectly!

im kinda stumped about what to draw for todays martch prompt and i didnt draw anything for yesterdays prompt sooo im just going to ramble about stuff in this post and put it under read more in case it gets long

OK SO ART STYLE AND INSPIRATION. i dont think i actually have any media or art that i can pinpoint as being extremely influential on how i developed my style. my art just kind of developed from what worked the best for me and what i had the most fun drawing i guess. like i definitely had phases when i was younger and starting out where i would try imitating the work that i liked but when i started drawing more often it feels like i sort of dropped that. there probably were some underlying influences but nothing comes to mind specifically. that being said i still want to do more studies of art i like!! and recently ive been trying consciously to incorporate things i like into my drawings, like the cheek scribble thing even though im not sure where i picked that up from and sometimes i still forget to include it.

i think media really inspired a lot of my ideas about character design though. i didnt have that much experience drawing non human or less humanoid characters so being into stuff like kirby and then getting into hylics and undertale really broadened my ideas about making characters. i think this kinda shows with my lullaby ocs since i took so long to iron out their designs into something i was happy with

Finally finished the fan art that my profile picture is from!

I'm developing the head canon that Lullaby is part plant, and able heal Flesh (and/or Will?) from resting in a "Buried" status. The serpentine limb reminds me of both velvet worms and vegetable taproots, so I want to think that limb can serve both functions.

Rat person that was supposed to look like it's clawing its face in anguish, not bashful? lol. This week I felt like I had a sudden dip in drawing skills & motivation, which kinda bummed me out. I colored in another digital doodle sitting on my PC from last year (3rd image) while I was fighting through that.

Conversations about Koosh ball Pongorma, plus remembering the one I had as a kid, caused me to have this revelation

Best of Week 8 (55 days)

Still turning Lullaby HCs in my mind. An idea that saplings start mysteriously popping up as weeds in gardens and ranches. Unsure what attitude saplings and Wayne larva will have toward each other.

Some abstract dudes, bodies, creatures.

I had another vivid dream last week I may draw someday, but I'd need to draw hummingbirds and flowers repeatedly...

An idea for a shit brick house Hylics TV Monk OC. I'm basing the body type off of something like Shugoki from For Honor, and for the head, one of those old big screen TVs (before flat screens). This is a very first draft of the idea. Need more practice with the body type.

Week 6, up to day 41. By next Wednesday I will be at 45 days straight, hopefully having ingrained a daily habit. I need to journal on a page about what I learned from the experience, especially in regards to keeping the habit and fitting it into my routine.

After Wednesday I want to re-evaluate my goals and decide what to tackle next. I'll keep the daily practice, but maybe its OK to only do a few warm-ups, scribbles, or a half a page a day while I focus on the other goals. Such as:

Figure drawing (quickposes dot com at minimum, but also try to go to a weekly night group when possible). I went to a real figure drawing session last October, so at least I have a reference for a number of short vs long poses if I'm at home. Twice a week?

2. Sketching in real sketchbooks rather than printer pages. I already own good sketchbooks, I just have perfectionism issues. As a bonus, I can touch other media that better paper can handle.

3. Some of the new routine time can now be used for FINISHING old pieces. 🤞

Summary of best sketches from Week 5 (34 days)

I played with goat/sheep imagery for Gibby Dog, trying to imagine if horns like the four-horned Hebridean sheep grew perfectly around in the disc shape. I think that I unintentionally made Gibby Dog look old and wise.

Figuring out the designs and my personal head cannons for the both dude from the Lullaby and the TV monks. Currently on the thoughts of "Lullaby is a plant, with velvet worm traits for muscular support".

Also, the idea of "TV monks (that we've seen) are melt-scarred survivors of the Crisping of Amulom, but not to the point of perma-death". (I imagined their TV heads bursting into flames as the sage towers were attacked, even if they were in remote locations.)

Practicing hands - my lack of skill in them was on my mind more than usual.

3rd page is what couldn't fit anywhere else. A poolman broke the TV machine. And I guess a small dragon, an emu, and a walking hand are going to whoop someone's ass off to the left?
