The debate terms agreed to by the campaigns of President Joe Biden and Donald Trump still include a wild card: whether independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will participate.
Whether Kennedy manages to qualify is one question. He needs to garner 15% support in four high-quality national polls and make the ballot in enough states to conceivably get 270 electoral votes. This week, Kennedy's running mate, Nicole Shanahan, pledged to pour $8 million into the campaign's ballot access efforts.
To date, Kennedy has confirmed ballot access in just three states—Michigan, Utah, and Oklahoma—worth 28 electoral votes and claims to have access in nearly a dozen other states worth 131 electoral votes.
But regardless of whether Kennedy meets the criteria, there's no world in which he has any chance of winning the presidency. In fact, his running mate admitted they have no path and instead hope to influence "policy."
"It would be great if we could take office come, you know, November after the election, but we understand we're up against a lot,” Shananhan said in an interview with YouTube commentator Luke Gromen. “So we're just taking every opportunity every day to help shape policy through the voice of candidacy.”
Kennedy may not be a serious candidate for president, but he is a serious threat to the presidency. His presence on the ballot in any of the hotly contested swing states could easily throw the election to Trump, who is counting on the help of third-party candidates to triumph in November. And Trump poses a clear and present danger to the republic.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is running a Diet MAGA campaign who could be a serious threat to effect the general election.

idk what to even say about this fic like I don't want to go on record and say that a fic published a year before Luke Hughes was even born is good or bad...the early aughts were a different time in fandom...but yes it was Stevie 😅 from his POV too. Parts of it made me absolutely deranged and some of it is very, very funny (I think on purpose, but I'm not sure.)

In the year of Gary Bettman's 2023 I will also add a note that there is fat-shaming, feminization, casual misogyny, and that it's generally a product of its time. Which is neither a good thing nor bad thing, we only know as much as we know!
@lovethygoalie did a really interesting deepdive on older hockey fics on the WayBack Machine a couple years back which is how I found it - if you're interested in older fic, that's definitely a post to check out. But also link-hopping through fansites on the WayBack Machine is fun if you're ever bored and you can find some truly wacked out/innovative shit from our hrpf foremothers if you're willing to open links head first eyes closed can't lose.

Horror movies all October long continues with a rare treat - a horror film for twins! No, you don’t have to be a twin to enjoy Luke Shanahan’s 2017 RABBIT, but the nods to Josef Mengele’s research made this feel like MARTYRS for twins. 5Crowns Weekend - Ubbe MASTERLIST
Welcome to the new 5Crowns Weekend event!
This time, Prince Ubbe is showing himself once again as the owner of the day!
As said in Prince of the Day - 1st Edition, the second son of Ragnar Lothbrok and Aslaug Sigurdadóttir was portrayed by the actors Cormac Melia (at season 2 and 3) and Luke Shanahan (at season 4) and Jordan Patrick Smith (season 4B until now) and it’s the closest to his father’s appearance, showing himself as a living memory of Ragnar’s golden times.
There must be lots of fights in between brothers at our favorite series, however, in history, there is no real proof that Ubba (historical name of our beloved prince also known as Ubbe, Hubba, Huba, Ube, Ubbi, and Ubbo) was one of the sons of Ragnar Lothbrok - an association that's made only for non-contemporary sources that identify Ubba as the leader of an army that conducted a campaign in Devon, being destroyed at Arx Cynuit (878). However, the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle does not identify this army's commander by name, describing him only as a brother of Ívarr (the Boneless) and Halfdan (probably Hvitserk).

Who can add to Christmas? The perfect motive is that God so loved the world. The perfect gift is that He gave His only Son. The only requirement is to believe in Him. The reward of faith is that you shall have everlasting life.

Today’s gospel is a kind of biblical “fish story”, containing an important point for us to contemplate. Normally, fish stories deal with things like the big Northern Pike that got away right at the end of an enormous struggle by the stout fisherman (“must have been over a yard and a half long!!”). Almost in the boat, the huge fish snaps free of the hook and swims off! Once again, the wily Northern trumps the skilled fisher person who now had a tale to be told with great delight later.
The disciples in the gospel story today have spent the whole night “toiling and had caught nothing." As professional fishermen, they must have been disappointed. Fishing in the right places at the right time, they should have seen big results from their labors; but no! Still, now they had a tale to tell afterwards, but the story had much deeper implications for them and for others.
Jesus had been preaching to the crowd and, because of their great number, they crowded him further towards the waters of the Sea of Galilee. To alleviate the situation, Jesus stepped into Simon’s boat and asked him to go out a bit from the shore. There he preached to the people from the boat in the shallow waters. Afterwords, he turned to Simon, “go out into the deep water and lower the nets for a catch”.
Simon the pro fisherman, must have resisted the request because he had just done battle with the sea and had caught nothing. But this “fish story” had a much fuller meaning soon to be discovered: they caught a great number of fishes so that their nets were bursting.
In astonishment they call to their companions in another boat to come and help them contain their enormous catch. Simon falls to his knees before Jesus and announces, “depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” To this proclamation Jesus reply promises, “do not be afraid from now on you will be catching people.”
What stands out in the story is a two-fold blessing Jesus invites the fishermen to notice., captured by the words out into the deep and do not be afraid. Going out into the “deep” implies not simply the deeper waters of the Lake, but so much more. For the disciples, and us the “deep” is a metaphor for things greater than the depth of the sea; it’s an invitation to throw one’s whole self into the call Jesus sends out to the fishermen. That call is extended as a blessing to all faithful Christians from the disciples’ time to our present day.
The “do not be afraid” message is much more than simply a consoling word Jesus says to his special new set of friends. Afraid of what? It doesn’t matter! The point is that Jesus is with us (along with Simon and his pals). Ultimately, we need not be afraid since Jesus’ promise will make all the difference in the world.
Our call into service is a call to trust in Jesus’ promise, that despite my status paralleling Simon Peter’s “I am a sinful man,” I too am invited to give in to following him more closely. What a joy! We are fishers “of people” like the disciples. Might this be the ultimate “fish story?”
Thank you, Lord for your care and love of us as you call us to service like yours. We are abundantly blessed by your invitation. We count on your promise and our desire to receive your call. That promise is your way of loving and serving us –be with us as we serve others in imitating you.

Local Irish honored the 1,500th anniversary of St. Patrick, their patron saint, yesterday when the 1932 St. Patrick's day parade was staged before a record number of spectators. Twenty-five different units and many bands figured in the procession.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were outplayed and surrendered 35 points. In the face of a mistake-prone Seattle offense, they should be able to recover.
The second week of the school year
Ravens
The Ravens’ defense was the best in the league this week. Compared to the Steelers, they were significantly more physical and caused seven turnovers. Against a Tennessee team that lost to the Jaguars, they should do even better than they did in the loss. Matt Hasselbeck can be browbeaten by Ed Reed and made to make a few poor choices. It was a bad start for Chris Johnson as well. He may be rusty from his holdout, but the Ravens will pose more of a challenge for him than he anticipated.
Jets
Dallas had a few big plays in the passing game early on, but the Jets came back strong, forcing three Cowboys turnovers, one of which led to a touchdown on a blocked punt. The Jets have a strong defense that can produce big plays, and Jacksonville has one of the worst quarterbacks in the league. Lions
Ndamukong Suh is a game-changer for the Lions, despite their lackluster defense as a whole. The Chiefs, who were blanked by the Bills in Week 1, will be up next for the Lions. Last year, the Chiefs won the weak AFC West, but this year, they are slipping backward. In Week 2, the Lions will profit from having one of the league’s worst offenses.
Steelers
In the first game of the season, the Pittsburgh Steelers were abysmal. There is no better way to get back on track after being knocked around by your arch-rival than playing Tarvaris Jackson and the Seattle Seahawks at home. One terrible game for the Steelers, but they remain AFC champions for the second year in a row. If Polamalu can confuse Tarvaris Jackson, the Steelers should be able to turn things around against the Ravens.
Saints
While Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers scored a lot of points in Week 1, New Orleans had the second-best defense in the NFC last season. There is no doubt that New Orleans will be able to get back on track against the Bears’ offense, which lacks the potency of the Packers. Sproles is also a talented punt returner with the potential to return a punt for a touchdown at any time.

Houston got off to a fast start against a Colts squad that was severely depleted. The absence of Peyton Manning had a role, but the Texans’ defense also deserves praise. There is no doubt that Chad Henne and the Dolphins’ defense are superior to a woeful Colts offense. The Texans should continue their outstanding play against the Dolphins with another shutout.
The mysterious death of roy helu – virtual soccer
“I don’t know what Mike Shanahan will do at running back this week.” Does this sound all too familiar? That’s what we thought, too. I’m here to publicly apologize on behalf of Mike Shanahan on behalf of the sad Roy Helu owners (myself included) for being an idiot and not taking into account your feelings. Five days ago, while hearing what his coach had to say about Helu, some owners probably decided to dump him “Helu is one of my favorites… Because I don’t want him to be under too much pressure at this early stage. His mind isn’t set on it “As a matter of fact. Helu burst against the Seahawks in week 12 with 23 touches for 107 rushing yards and a touchdown. You PPR owners were once again taken to the woodshed by Shanahan and his “shenanigans” with 7 receptions for 54 yards. Helu had 41 rushing yards and a Washington Redskins record 14 catches for 105 receiving yards in his only previous start this year. He’s been the finest back in Washington for a long time, and he should be their cash cow moving ahead.
Helu’s coach is around him like vultures around a lost man in the wilderness with inquiries. Is this so-called brilliance as good as advertised? Snyder must be wondering. As seen by his time in Denver with Clinton Portis and Tatum Bell, Mike Anderson, Reuben Droughns, and Olandis Gary to name a few, he is notorious for generating excellent running backs out of nowhere.
When it comes to running the ball, Shanahan’s success could be attributed to the fact that he had Gary Kubiak in Denver as well. Roy Helu will benefit from this because it means that even though the season is over, Shanahan will still have to produce wins.

That means Roy Helu and the other great players, who can no longer afford to play mind games that don’t yield victory, will be on the field. You never know with Shanny. If you ever drop him, pick him up again, but proceed with caution when resuming play with him. We like his talent, but we loathe his trainers.

Is the Glazer Family Playing Manchester United in a virtual soccer League?
As more and more details about the potential float emerge, it appears that the Glazers and some high-level executives, including Sir Alex Ferguson, will be the primary benefactors.
As details emerged, it became clear that the flotation was not the beginning of the end for the Glazers’ control of the club.
At least five years with no dividends, and essentially no voting rights, are the worst aspects of this issue. The Glazers personal folio is worth 10 votes to 1.
So how do you get a huge investor to acquire a chunk of the club, and offer the club an interest-free loan for five years?.
Nothing, absolutely nothing, exists to entice even a micro investor.
An Employee Share Incentive Program worth $204 million has been revealed as part of the issue, which would leave only about $80 million in debt reduction funds for the club at the lowest end of the range.
