Happy Father’s Day to the one and only Father of Mysteries. Renowned for his secrecy and reclusive nature, there are only a scarce few of individuals who have known Sotha Sil at a more personal level compared to the general population. Even among those who were closest to him, Sotha Sil still remains an entity of ambiguity. Here is what they had to say about him:

WIP Wednesday

Thank you @v1ctory-or-sovngarde for the tag!! 🥺 I tag @thescrolls-haveforetold, @bougainvillea-and-saltwater and anyone else who would like to share their WIPs :D

I don’t have anything recent, as I haven’t been up to much lately aside from thinking about fic ideas in my head. I’d really like to start writing a longer fic that revolves around Nilonii’s experience as she goes through ESO Morrowind’s main questline, though its gonna need a looot of planning and motivation. But in the meantime I do have this slightly older WIP excerpt of Nilonii getting her arse handed to her by Luciana Pullo - I wanted to practice writing a fight scene, and what better way of doing that than through a training fight :,D

Stepping towards her opponent, Nilonii hurled her fist at her head again with one hand, crossing her other arm over in the direction of Luciana’s eyes. However, she had neglected to consider Luciana’s free hand in her calculations, a realisation that came in the form of a hook to the gut. She cried out, her upper body folding downwards in front of her opponent.

“Don’t get cocky.” Luciana warned, driving her elbow between Nilonii’s shoulder blades. The impact caused her to crumple to the floor like a dropped cloth. She hissed through her teeth as body met the unforgiving stone, and before she could pick herself up Luciana had already pinned her arms behind her back.

She cast a glare at the woman behind her. “Is this really necessary?”

“Who knows what tricks you have up your sleeve? You always do.” Luciana cocked her brow, leaning down to look Nilonii in the eyes. “By the way, if this was the real thing, you’d have been dead before you hit the floor.”

A chill creeped its way over her body. She was confident in her usage of magic and polearms, but knowing that she’d be in mortal danger if she lacked the strength for either made her stomach turn. The releasing of her arms did help the feeling though, and she scrambled to her feet before she could be restrained again.

First impression: Before I awoke into a fully fledged lesbian, I had a crush on him when I was 15 that turned out to be partly gender envy, partly 'I wish I could robotify my limbs and spine'

Impression now: Another traumatized and complex character. A neurotic guy who seeks to attain a perfect world and prevent the trauma he's experienced for others.

Favorite moment: Robotification of his limbs and spine

Idea for a story: I'd like to explore his early life a bit. I think he had a nice life in Ald Sotha before it's destruction.

Unpopular opinion: I may be gay, but as someone with a former crush on him I feel I have space to say this: If I had to rank the most unsexy beings I've encountered, ESO Sotha Sil would be up there with Wallace from Wallace and Gromit. There is nothing there.

Favorite relationship: I don't acknowledge most of the Clockwork City DLC as being real. But his relationship with Luciana Pullo really intrigues me. They're both disabled, facing traumatic circumstances that left them as such. Luciana has no past other than her position as a solider in the Akaviri war, and seemingly nobody to return to after her injuries. Sotha Sil lost his entire family. I think he sees something of himself in her, and makes decisions on her behalf that he considers to be the right choice, including that of keeping her unborn child viable. (and ultimately the player character makes decisions for her as well) Yet they're not her decisions. It's interesting in a DLC that concerns itself so heavily with fate and personal choice.

Favorite headcanon: I believe it's your headcanon, but the domes and rooms of the clockwork city are named after his family

Did you choose to save Luciana Pullo or sacrifice her?

I mean, either way I get a neat book. Therefore, I chose to pick the one where she gets to live because I don't like sacrificing companions to achieve goals. If I have to rip their lives from the cold jaws of god while pissing in his face, so be it.

He only occasionally makes eye contact—not out of timidity, though. He's just always focused on something else. A device, or a book, or some other clockwork oddity. I ask him questions whenever the opportunity presents itself—questions about the nature of this place, his motives, his history. I never get straight answers. Nonetheless, he seems to enjoy the back and forth. I get the sense that even here, surrounded by worshipers and loyal machines, he remains profoundly alone.”
