You’re correct on the retirement part! He’s in no condition to be working to begin with, but to compromise this, he spends his time at home with his son Sans. As Papyrus and Frisk have respective responsibilities of work. To say he enjoys mischief and pranks is an understatement. I mean, where do you think their kids get their sense of humor from?

The answer is this guy. This guy was and still is very silly.
