while i think it makes sense for Lestat's characters to Blow up on Louis (and Claudia) like that and turn to straight up just beating the shit out of him bc Lestat is from episode one carelessly violent and emotional i don't think the writers realized the implications that would have. like i cannot in my mind even picture why the fuck they did that, especially contrasted with the gentless of the way Louis kills him. Lestat is now no longer a dumbass who makes mistakes, he's a domestic abuser who never apologizes or repents for his actions.
and yknow what! my take was originally that they're both monsters bc i was so fucking sure Louis and Claudia would get their revenge which didn't happen! so what the fuck!
as a dv survivor it fucking sickens me that they put in a scene of domestic violence and seems like they didn't even fucking noticed they did that. and it would've been such an easy fix too: just make it a fight. make it an equal fight instead of Lestat leaving unscathed fucking villan flying in the air.

Daniel being the real mvp this episode and calling Louis out on his shit lmao. It's all about the odyssey of recollection and Louis being once again an unreliable narrator. The overarching theme of the show is you never know who's telling the truth or how much of it is real or skewed from their perspective. So basically when Daniel asks him is it raining he's making a callback to a previous episode where Louis recalls meeting Jonah for a one night stand and Lestat's muddy boots are in question as to how they became that way. Louis says one thing but we see another with a flashback to it raining. What's true and what's false? The link to this episode being Daniel once again questioning him over his reasons as to why he didn't burn Lestat and sent him to the dump instead. Why he's protecting Claudia saying she didn't want to burn Lestat when we see a flashback of her begging Louis to and he's the one who refused. He acts like he murdered Lestat quite happily but we and Daniel know that's not the truth. In conclusion Louis De Pointe Du Lac is a lying liar who lies and cannot be fully trusted.

Y’know, sometimes I give the final season shit for certain aspects of the romance routes that they failed in, but I can confidently say they didn’t fuck up as bad as ANF did.
Louis and Violet handle Clementine wanting to only be friends more than well. If you remain friends with them, I’m sure they’re sad that Clementine doesn’t feel the same way about them romantically, but they’re HAPPY being best friends with her. Never do they feel bitter towards her because she just wants to be friends. There’s no snarky remarks or passive-aggressive comments. They’re just bros with a strong bond!

There’s a lot to unpack here, and this hit just as I finished watching two full (and vastly different) Louis interviews, so I feel almost qualified to answer, lmao. My take is slightly different, but kind of in the same vein? Interviews are PR performance, pure theater, so I tend to watch them for entertainment more than for any deep insights (and this is true for any artist; I know most people here don’t follow anyone else, but I guarantee it’s a game that is gamed across the board, this is work, the most tedious part of the job, etc.). But getting back to the D, yeah, they all handle it in their own ways: Harry is a terrible liar (in the sense of answering a direct question with a lie, he can’t do it…swerve? YES, but that’s not the same thing), Niall and Louis have zero problems on that front (Niall recently admitted that he and Louis made sport of saying random shit in interviews just to see where it would land, AND GOOD FOR THEM, they don’t owe us “the truth,” especially about anything personal), and Liam typically goes with what he’s supposed to say, but with nobody driving the ship these days, he says whatever he wants to in the moment, damn actual sense or timelines. It’s fascinating because they’ve all been media-trained to within an inch of their lives, but they also came into megastardom during the age of digital microinspection. Every interview, every soundbite is zoomed in on, giffed, edited, and recast, so someone like, say, Louis, who already has perfectionist tendencies, will tend to be VERY careful in how he answers (yet he won’t necessarily answer truthfully, if that makes sense). I also pay attention to how he says it–like you mentioned, he leans on the charm or a laugh, but I’ve noticed (and he also recently admitted) that he tends to do that ESPECIALLY when he’s saying something kind of sharp and sarky. It softens it so he doesn’t look like a dick, but it also absolutely highlights his brilliance. God, I could sit there and admire what he’s like all the live long day. For all of them, I guess the thing I admire is that in the face of this hours-long mindless tedium, they’re all extremely present (or they phone it in, but they never sound bored): they all act like this is the first time someone asked them this particular question, they all give it some thought, none of them roll their eyes, etc. I work with idiots from time to time, and I can’t do that. There are actual living, breathing actors who can’t do it!! Where am I going with this? Idk, but this is why I like to watch everything in full; it’s usually lots more entertaining and you get a feel for the performance writ larger.

Ugh it’s Friday afternoon and everything about this is stupid and I already raged about this once today, for frig’s sake.
Before I get into what she thinks has been happening “behind the scenes” in “the industry,” NOTE THAT SHE DOESN’T EXPLAIN WHY IT’S BETTER TO HAVE THE INDUSTRY BELIEVING IN HARRY AND GRIMMY???
“Anything to make people doubt that they were in a current, monogamous relationship,” she says. And she concludes dramatically with, “Anyone but Louis.”
FUCKING WHY???? She’s not answering the question, she’s still just trying to explain why the sources for Gryles look just like the “sources” for Larrie, except better. Because that’s what stresses her out. But that’s not what the anon is fucking asking and if the concern is that people “bts” will know about Larry, then why would there not be the same goddamn concern about Gryles? Why continue to let Harry and Grimmy interact WHILE TELLING PEOPLE THEY WERE DATING, while making Louis fake a goddamn baby to hide Larry?? Which is what the anon asked.
But Cris dodges, because she has no answer and because she’s preoccupied with how much doubt the “good receipts” about Gryles cast on her “good receipts” about Larrie.
So she starts by reiterating, “in industry spaces where Harry & Louis were seen off camera, they both are easily read as gay and together” - a comforting lie that Larries have built up from various completely implausible “my cousin worked on the set of whatever and he said when the cameras were off they weren’t even trying to hide it.”
this is one of the things I was so mad about with the Barry M*nilow thing. it’s one of the things that makes Larrie so inherently impossible. They can’t give up on the idea that Harry and Louis are and always have been openly affectionate with each other because otherwise they can’t pretend their beloved receipts are anything other than fantasy trash. So they have to come up with all this “WELL PEOPLE IN THE INDUSTRY WOULDN’T EXPOSE THEM” and “THERE’S A PHOTO BAN” and “THEY SPREAD RUMORS ABOUT HARRY WITH SOMEONE ELSE SO PEOPLE WOULD TALK ABOUT THAT INSTEAD BECAUSE IT WAS SOMEHOW BETTER.”
She’s actually drawing on a lot of the shit in the larry receipts doc. Harry and Louis basically coming out to a random masseuse but of course no one has ever outed them. This story from diggingandfluff that she actually references in the post, which just…. is straight up nonsense from start to finish. But srslycris can just REFERENCE receipts without anyone actually having to see them so they can’t judge how they’re just nonsense shitty fanfic.
When you see the detail, you can see how they think this would actually work. That if someone noticed Harry and Louis acting like they were dating, people as high up as Caroline Watson would say stuff like, “How dare you. They just finally are reconciling their friendship after breaking up. That was so unprofessional. I can’t believe it” (a quote genuinely attributed to Caroline here, supposedly to a random stylist in response to a comment about Harry and Louis being boyfriends). It doesn’t sound as good as when they keep it vague.
She says:
A good friend of mine had dinner with someone from BBC Radio Onea few months ago and my friend was flat out told that Nick and Harry used todate. My friend, a major Larrie, was taken aback. Then she asked if the personhad ever seen anything proving that, she was told no. Were there any detailedfirst hand reports of anything, kissing, hand-holding, intimate moments? Nope,none of that. Just chatter around the office.
Yeah. Probably because Harry and Nick never dated. But there’s still lots of rumors, how about that! But when “a good friend” of Cris’s has dinner with someone who flat out tells them that Harry and Louis dated, do you think that admission gets met with “wait how do you know, do you have proof, have you seen anything”? No. That rumor gets passed on as being “stuff Cris knows for sure from a source she can definitely trust.” And those are the GOOD sources - the rest of it is clearly just Larries making things up, either because they just want to lie and deceive people or because they’re so sure about Larrie that they think it’s ok to lie to convince others.
When it comes to Larrie, every rumor - even if it directly references fan theories - means they must be together because there’s too much chatter about it. And every receipt is likely to be true, and every source is impeccable and could never be mistake. But when it comes to either boy with anything else, the rumors are deliberately spread by 1D’s management team who apparently literally ONLY CARE that Harry not be thought to be with Louis, or the rumors are based on hearsay and the source is questioned. Random facebook commenter Jayson was an impeccable source when he confirmed what they already knew, immediately became a liar when he wasn’t talking about Larry.
And yet they still refuse to reconsider their “receipts.” This post is Cris ACKNOWLEDGING that there are equally valid receipts for Gryles and coming up with the world’s most pathetic explanation as to how this can still make Larrie real.
Everything is nonsense. None of it makes sense. And there is ABSOLUTELY no FUCKING way this should give someone enough confidence that they can call Jay’s obituary a lie or encourage hatred against Briana and Eleanor or feel justified making declarations about Louis as a father based on no fucking information. THIS SHIT is what that’s based on.
