Chapter 4

The next morning Obi-Wan awoke just as the sky was beginning to turn pink, having being used to this schedule since his master was definitely an early riser. He got up and opened his door very quietly as he didn't want to disturb his gracious host. Making his way into the living room he began to look around. One thing he noticed is that there weren't many pictures or holograms around, just various knick knacks. One of the focal points of the room is what looked like to be a primitive holo-viewer. It is definitely more primitive here.

Looking out towards the porch his curiosity piqued, he wanted to go investigate where Vanessa and Hershey found him. Maybe he would find more clues. Slipping out as quiet as a ghost and walked towards the wood. He reached out with force to see where her presence had been and followed that. A few minutes later he arrived at a small clearing where the glass was slightly singed and flat, the force was distorted bit here and he figured here would be the best to do his early morning mediation since it was the closest point to where he came from. He sat down cross legged, took a deep breath and closed his eyes.

It was different here but not necessarily unpleasant. Different animals could be felt around him and the stillness was actually quite nice. He was usually used to the faint sound of the ever busy city around him. The breeze kicked up and he could smell the plants and earth around him as he slipped into a deep mediation and focused on the here and now.

The sun shone in her room and started to wake her up. She sat up and stretched her limbs letting out a big yawn. Hershey awoke from the foot of her bed hearing her wake up.

“Good morning boy. Let’s get you into the backyard.”

She opened the door slowly as to not disturb her guest and tip toed out. Passing by his room she noticed the door was opened and she peeked inside. He wasn't there but the bed was freshly made and tidy. She smiled to herself liking the fact that he was considerate as such. Walking into the living room he still couldn't be found. She found it quite odd but continued about her normal routine and let her dog out to do his business. Standing on the porch and inhaling the fresh air she closed her eyes and relished in the crisp morning. Her peace was interrupted by Hershey yapping excitedly. Looking up she saw Obi wan emerging from the woods. He walked up to the dog and gave him a good pat and scratch before turning his gaze to Vanessa. He smiled as he approached her.

“You look well.” She stated

“Thank you. Sorry if I had you worry, I am an early riser and usually meditate in the morning. I went to find the spot you found me to see if I can find any clues.”

“It is fine. Any luck?”

“No, unfortunately, maybe the force will reveal an answer later.” he said with a sigh.

“Like I said you are more than welcome to stay here until such a time. Lets go inside and eat breakfast and then we will do some clothes shopping and grocery shopping, figure out some things you would like while you were here.”

“OK, though I still feel guilty that you are doing this for me. I have no way of repaying you.”

She chuckled. “Oh don't worry I could put to work on some of the repairs around the house.”

“Its a deal.”

They sat and ate breakfast and conversed about a variety of things, before heading out. Walking out to the car he hesitated.

“Ugh I hate flying.”

She quirked an eyebrow on him. “Cars don't fly here. Its all along the ground, sorry to say. We are way behind.”

“Oh.” he said while climbing in.

It was a bit of a drive, so she played some music. Obi found it quite agreeable and tried to learn the lyrics. Getting to the mall they went from store to store shopping for a few things for him to wear. He seemed to favor jeans, t shirts, and tennis the most. She also bought him a few beanies because she noticed people were starting to stare at his unusual hairstyle and she could tell it was making him uncomfortable. They passed by a book shop and she saw his eyes go wide.

“Do they not have books where you come from?” she asked

“They do but they are so rare as everything is technology based.”

“Well why don't we go inside and you can pick up a few you might like”

He shook his head frantically “Oh no I couldn't ask you of that you are doing so much for me. As it is Jedi don’t keep a lot of personal items.”

“Relax. I wont tell the Council that you indulged while you were here.” she said while patting him on the arm.

“Very well.” he said with a sigh and smirk.

They went inside and about an hour later, came out with a few things. His face lit up with his new posessions. He got a history book, some poetry, as well as a few random other things. They loaded their items and drove to the grocery store. While they were shopping he asked her what everything was. And she told him.

“Well if there is anything you would like to try let me know.”

“Sorry. I don’t know where to start. Just get what you usually do or things you think I might like” he said with a smirk.

“Alright. No problem”

Later on they arrived home and he put all the clothes she had bought him away. And went out to the living room to watch a movie with her. She insisted on educating him in the best of entertainment they had to offer on this planet.

As the weeks continued on, they settled into a comfortable routine, including Obi helping out with chores around the house. He was always eager to help and she found that endearing. She always had a pleasant demeanor and was always kind. She was also funny and a bit sarcastic. But there was something that was bothering him about her, it seemed she lived as a bit of hermit and he hoped it wasn't because of him.

“Vanessa? May I ask you something?” he said turning to her while they enjoyed the dusk on the porch.

“Sure….” she replied a little apprehensive

“Forgive me if I seem to be a little rude. But I have noticed that you live kind of isolated and don't socialize with anyone besides me and Hershey. And I hope I am not the cause of it.”

He noticed….damn.

She cleared her throat. “Well its definitely not because of you so don't worry about that. Its just I had to start over.”

He looked at her curiously. “Start over?”

“Yes. Its a hard story to tell.” she said looking down at her hands. He reached over and grabbed one and held it. Raising her head to look at him he saw that her eyes were watery.

“I am sorry I didn't mean to pry.” He said while gently bringing a thumb to wipe a stray tear.

She sniffled. “No its OK. I need to open up about it some time.” She turned to face him and he squeezed her hand in reassurance. She took a deep breath before she spoke. “I was married at a young age. In matter of fact I lied about my age to get married. I was 16 and he was 19. And I absolutely fell in love. It was wonderful at first, but a few months in I noticed some things. He was mean and would constantly put me down. Then not that long after that is when he began hitting me. I was shocked but I didn't leave because I made the excuse that I was the one that caused it. I wasn't allowed to leave and was forced to take care of him in any way he wanted to….” she trailed off.

Obi wan’s jaw clenched as he could see her memories of the pain she endured. She continued, “One night it all changed. He came home from work and saw that I hadn't finished folding the laundry and he lost it. He beat me so bad, he broke ribs, my cheek bone and worse he raped me. The next day, I realized the hell I was in and had to get out. So I painfully walked to my neighbors house who promptly called an ambulance and the police. He was arrested and found guilty and is now serving a sentence in prison. This house belonged to my Aunt and Uncle they left it to me, thankfully he doesn't know about it. But I never want to take my chances of him ever finding me. So I broke off all ties.” she said with tears running down her eyes.

Obi-wan had never felt so heart broken and angry in his life. What kind of monster would do such a thing to a kind soul as her. Knowing he had to get control of his emotions he decided to pull her into him tightly to comfort her. She sobbed into his chest and he ran his fingers through her hair doing his best to soothe her. Something in him that night had changed. He felt a protectiveness over her and an affection. He kissed the top of her head feeling that, she looked up into his blue eyes and saw a determination in them.

“I promise to protect you as long as I can. No one, especially you deserves that. You did nothing wrong and you are so strong to survive that.” he said looking at her with soft eyes when he finished his sentence.

He titled her head and kissed her forehead. Closing both their eyes they rest their foreheads against each others and relishing the feel of being so close together. They stayed like that for awhile until she relaxed finding his presence soothing.

“I am going to go to bed, all this has exhausted me,” she said while pulling away from him.

He gave her a small smile. “OK just know that I meant what I said, good night Vanessa.”

She returned his smile and headed into the house. He sat on the porch with the dog just enjoying the serenity of the night. Giving the dog a scratch on the head,

“Lets head in for the night, boy” Wagging his tail, Hershey followed behind Obi into the house before laying on his bed for the night. “Good night boy.” he said before heading into his room. He settled on the bed to try and get some sleep, but alas it would not come.

He laid awake in his bed organizing his thoughts.

I've never been affectionate to someone like that. Why did that happen to her? She is amazing for dealing with so much and coming out of it so kind-hearted. To be so close to her was heaven. I wonder how it would feel to kiss her…

At that last thought he shot up in bed. He shook his head as he realized that he was starting to develop feelings for her. But he couldn't act on them as it was forbidden by the Jedi code. But he already knew it was too late, He had formed an attachment to her against his will and he honestly felt conflicted about the whole thing. Who knew how long he would be here or even if he would permanently. Was this is the will of force, he didn't know what to do.

Have you ever dreamt in another language? No. How long will you try out something you don’t enjoy before giving up on it? It really depends, but in most cases, admittedly very quickly. What’s something you recently realized or discovered about yourself? *shrug* What’s the most interesting news you read or received recently? What about the most depressing? Not in a good way really, but it was certainly interesting to learn I have such severe sleep apnea. Like, I was certain I didn't. The most depressing would be uhhhh... I guess Jason's mother's death, but I don't know how "recent" you'd consider that by now. Would you let politics get in the way of a relationship? It depends. Some beliefs I absolutely would not tolerate (like anti-LGBT), others I would just agree to disagree with. What is one way in which you need to learn to control yourself? I need to get better at controlling my mouth when I'm extremely upset. Do you use a photo editor? I use Lightroom and Photoshop for photography. Is your dad overweight? No, I think he's actually underweight. Ever been honked at? Yes. What’s the name of the most recent baby a friend has had? Easton, I think? An old middle school friend had him. Have you ever taken medication to help you fall asleep faster? Yes, but they never work for me. How did your parents pick your name? I dunno. If you had to move to another country, where would you move? Canada. Do you have a balcony? No. Who is a singer that has given you chills? Man, I get chills easily with music. David Draiman from Disturbed, his cover of "Sound of Silence" is BREATHTAKING. That's number one. There are many others, they're just not coming to me at the moment. Do you have a drone? No. What was the spiciest thing you’ve ever eaten? Some wings at Buffalo Wild Wings. I got some crazy hot sauce. Have you ever discovered something gross in your food at McDonalds? No. What was the last thing you used sliced bread to make? A sandwich. How long did your shortest relationship last? Like a day lmao. Would you rather have a trampoline or swimming pool? A POOL!!!! I've talked before about how I want one so, SO very badly to exercise my legs without having to worry about sweat, and I can take a break the very moment I need to. Do you own a Snuggie? Yeah, somewhere. Do you listen to any unsigned bands/singers? Who? Yeah, quite a few on YouTube, but my favorite in Jonathan Young. He is SO damn talented. Who is your favorite video game character? Pyramid Head from the Silent Hill franchise. What kind of pictures do you post on Facebook/Instagram/Snapchat most frequently? Mostly of my pets lmao. Have you ever been on vacation with a significant other? No. Have you ever considered “unplugging”/taking a significant period of time away from technology? No. I know I'd never stick to it. Do you prefer to watch a documentary that is about a situation/event or a documentary that is more of a personal character study/biography? The latter. Meerkat Manor comes to mind with that, and everyone knows how much I adore that show. There was also one about rhesus macaques I fell in love with. Basically, I love animal docs, haha. Can you think of a recent time in which you might have been better off resisting, but you did something because you “just couldn’t help yourself”? Probably eating something. When you are getting to know someone, do you tend to worry that the other person will lose interest in you once they get to know the “real” you? Yyyyep. What is something that you would like to do, but really aren’t able to because of your location? (e.g., see art or get a certain job) Man, a lot of things. Photograph meerkats is a biggie. What sort of job do you think is best suited for your skills? Is this an in-demand position or something you’re unlikely to actually get? If I could actually handle the heat and was in good shape to traverse the outdoors, I think I'd be a great wildlife biologist. Even more though, if I could beat my social anxiety, I would ADORE being an animal educator with kids. Do you believe it is the responsibility of businesses, or prominent business leaders (think Bill Gates) to take the lead on social issues whether by using their influence or their money? Saying it's their "responsibility" sounds unfair and puts a lot of weight on their shoulders, but I do feel they should by their own volition and kindness use their position for good, such as through monetary assistance and other things. Have you ever gone to a job interview and realized that you didn’t want the job? Yep. Have you ever asked that someone sacrifice something (a habit, relationship, job, etc.) for you? A habit, yes. Looking back it was stupid as shit. What would you call your body type? Ew. Has anyone ever hacked your accounts before? Yes. Do you enjoy big holiday dinners? Considering I spend them with my sister's bigoted, homophobic, and racist in-laws, not especially. I always feel very uncomfortable and disliked among everyone for being the "black sheep" among 'em. Is your vision good? God no. Even with my glasses, it's very poor. I need a new prescription badly. Do both of your parents have jobs? Mom has something of the sort, like she cleans a local church for a small pay, but it's not really a "job." She's still recovering from cancer, getting her strength back up and such before she can handle a consistent job. Dad's had a job for as long as I've lived. What is something you’ve always wanted a boy to do for you? How heteronormative. But whatever. It's so fucking cheesy, but singing a cute song to me while slowdancing sounds so super adorable to me. What food are you craving right now? I am craving something sweet like you wouldn't believe. It's annoying. Have you ever been in a car accident? Yes. Do you have a lot of scars? Yes, but most are very negligible. I just scar extremely easily. Last person you saw other than your family? My primary doctor. Last movie you’ve seen in theaters? The The Lion King remake. Who was the last person you played a video game with? Ummm I think Girt. Last game you played at an arcade? Zero clue. What was your favorite nursery rhyme as a child? I THINK I particularly liked "The Itsy-Bitsy Spider?" None stand out strongly, though. What is your favorite cousin’s first name? I don’t have a favorite cousin. Would you prefer to travel around the world by yourself or with a friend? I think with a friend to prevent loneliness, but at the very same time, I see a great beauty in traveling on your own. Just taking new things in, seeing so many different cultures, beautiful scenery... I feel it'd be a great chance for exploration of insight. Remind yourself how small you are, that there's a much, much bigger picture than your own problems, that people are so unique but hopefully share common morals... I see a lot of poetry in it. Do you like the smell of coffee? It's one of my favorite smells. If you have a favorite photographer, can you describe their work? I can't possibly pick. I watch literally hundreds on deviantART, and many of them absolutely blow my mind. What’s one aspect of your life that did not turn out as you expected? My lack of a career. Outside of school, have you ever used a thesaurus? Well, online ones for writing. When you see a good-looking girl in skimpy clothing, what is your initial thought? I envy her confidence, like gotdamn girl. Have you ever been in a lighthouse? No. Are you on a laptop or desktop? A laptop. What color is your shower? White. Where do you order your pizza from? Domino's or Little Caesar's. What was the name of the last dog you pet? We've been calling the dog we're holding right now Zoe. Have you ever had anything stolen from you? Yes. Have you ever seen the White House? I don't think so, but it's possible I have when we've driven up to New York, but from a distance. How about Niagara Falls? No. What do you like in your salads and what dressing do you prefer? I just like regular iceberg lettuce with some bacon bits and ranch. Man, that sounds good right about now. No. I couldn't rock the mummy look even if I tried, haha. Can you tell the difference between a Scottish & an Irish accent? Not really, no. Can you read music? I used to be able to. Do you work the night shift? I don’t have a job, but if I did, I absolutely do not want to work the night shift anywhere. Have you ever slept over at your best friend’s house? Yes. Is your mother diabetic? Are you? She is, but I'm not. Would you like to learn how to make ceramic pottery? It'd be cool, sure. Ever sang someone to sleep? No. Who did you last kiss? My cat. Why did you last lie? I don't recall. Probably to just avoid confrontation with Mom. What do you put on your hamburgers? Cheese, ketchup, and mustard, generally. Who do you think cares the most about you? My mom. Have you ever sent a dirty picture? No. What’s at the center of your dining table? Honestly, we sit in there so rarely that I don't even know. I think we might have nothing, actually. Have you ever started a rumor? No. Do you like being outside? If it's cool, yes. What’s your favourite condiment? Maybe ketchup. Or honey mustard. Who sang/played the last song you listened to? Chris Motionless is the singer of Motionless In White. I don't know if that's his real last name, though. Do you like yoga? I used to. Now all the bending and shit would make me dizzy as hell with my "how are you still alive" level of low blood pressure. Do you always carry breath mints? No, but I do carry Tictacs with me, but they're for my dry mouth. It forces you to salivate, so it helps. What do you think your reaction would be upon entering the White House? I don't really know. I honestly don't even know how it looks inside. Thinking about it, I'd probably be more scared than anything, waiting for a bomb to drop or some shit lmao. Have you ever grown your own sea monkeys or dinosaurs? OH MY GOD I LOVED those!!! I definitely did! Have you ever thrown a game controller (or the game) and broke it? No, I've never been the type to do that. If I'm SERIOUSLY getting mad, all I do is tighten my grip. Did you ever own an Etch-a-Sketch? Yes. Do/did you ever have glow-in-the-dark stars on your ceiling? I believe so. What movie were you really worked up for that ended up disappointing you? My answer is Warcraft, but only because the fucking orcs' voices were so baritone that I couldn't understand them almost ever lmaooo. Like I had a mild idea of what was going on because of the game, but still. What part of a paper is hardest for you to write? The intro, or the conclusion. Both are difficult to me. Like I want to compose a gripping beginning as well as an end that doesn't just repeat everything I've already said and ends on a strong note. Does it bother you that almost everything is done on computers now? No. KFC Chicken: original or extra crispy? I don't like fried chicken. Think about your first kiss. Did you have any idea what you were doing? I mean, I guess? Like I'd seen kisses enough to know how to give someone a peck. It just came naturally. Did you get Happy Meals just for the toys as a kid? Not just for the toy, but it's the main thing I wanted, sure. Have you ever seen your parents cry? If so, how did it make you feel? Seeing my mom cry absolutely destroys me. I don't want her to hurt EVER. Especially if it's seriously unfair bullshit that has her upset, I also get very angry (not at her, of course) and protective. I've seen Dad tear up once, back when he was telling us about his mother's funeral, and I felt immense surprise more than anything. He does NOT cry. How do you feel about animal testing? It's fucking disgusting and barbaric. Find a different goddamn way. Do you add condiments to your ice cream, or just eat it plain? If I'm having vanilla, I'll usually add chocolate syrup. Have you ever witnessed a crime? Yes. What’s the coolest personalized license plate you’ve ever seen? I'm forever gonna get a kick out of this one that just said "omw," haha.

Does it make you nervous when someone does something dangerous showing off? If it’s something supposed to be taken seriously, like an athlete doing a risky ice skating spin, then I’d be nervous in that I don’t want them to fail. But if it’s someone doing something rather foolish like doing a moonsault off a roof or putting out a candle with their bare fingers, the mischievous side of me will silently half-wish something goes wrong haha. Have you ever had to take a pee test? You mean a urinalysis? Yeah. Angela’s doctor mom suspected I had UTI a few weeks ago so she had written up a recommendation for me to take a ‘pee test,’ as you put it. Have you ever had to supply someone with clean pee? I mean, I did for the aforementioned urinalysis lol. And what do you mean by clean pee? How is that different from dirty pee? Lmao Are you a bit of a nerd? Guh, I loved calling myself this is a teenager...because...y’know...I was a teenager and wanted to sound cool and ~not like the other girls~ lol but I was definitely trying too hard at the time. I don’t consider myself a nerd now and I don’t think I ever was. Are you in charge of cleaning anything in your household? Just my own dishes for the most part, but that’s it.

Are you good at HTML? At one point I was, because it was once a common practice on Tumblr to customize your themes, add your own pages, and basically just mix up your blog. I dunno if normal Tumblr still does this haha but if I tried to do this today I’d be rusty for sure. Ever carved/written anything on a park bench? Nope. I always feel like I’d get caught. Most interesting place you've ever visited? I’d say Shanghai was the most interesting mostly because it was SO incredibly first-world and the whole place was just so modern, so technologically forward and the experience was so jarring considering the dumpsite I live in. It was very daunting seeing all the bright lights, people dressing up so well, luxury shops on every corner, and how rich their nightlife was. Have you ever had anything tailored? It’s brown, but the bottom part sports a lot of chipped-off paint due to my dog scratching on it to get in and out of my room for the last twelve years. My grandpa’s death hurt as hell too, but back then I had no choice but to harden up and force myself to be ok and focus because I had an insanely important college entrance exam coming up five days after his passing, and I couldn’t afford to get distracted. With the news of Nacho, I was doing nothing that night and I was completely vulnerable when it hit me. How many band t-shirts do you own that are black? I only have one band t-shirt, and it’s black. I don't consider myself to be very famous. I'm recognizable in certain contexts but even that kind of recognition sometimes puts me off terribly because it's uncomfortable in a way. I want people there not to see me, but to think about the music. A lot of young people are forgetting about the most important thing, which is the music. They're thinking about their career and the character that goes with it. The clothes they believe they're meant to wear, which again is fine. I understand the importance of fashion and aesthetics within art. I like the elegance of design but it's not the substance of something, particularly if you're primarily about making music. Another piece of advice I'd give—maybe the only piece of advice is you've got to have something that you really need to say. That's why you're doing it. If you've got nothing to say then maybe become a recording engineer? Don't be a writer. I desperately want to speak French so I can read some of the great French novels in the language they were written. I wish I could read Don Quixote in Spanish. Same with Portuguese or Latin or something, except I don't have that learning ability. I wish I could direct a movie but it's not something I've ever been able to do. I don't have the story to tell yet, and I'm not going to go out and make something that's visually cool but has no story. It was always my ambition to make films when I was growing up. I thought that was much more valid. I never wanted to be an indie rock musician. I wanted to make really important films. Epics, classics, except I've never had the idea or story come to me. Just because you can be in a band, just because you can make a film, doesn't necessarily mean you should. You have to ask yourself, "Is what I'm doing needed? Is what I'm doing valid?" So people reading this might think, "Is Deerhunter valid?" To me, yes it is. To me, I'm making an album that no one else is making right now. I'm always open to any genre of music that can affect me. My most listened to artist of last year according to Spotify was Whitney Houston. I adore her. Her voice, her personality, her presence, what she brings to the songs. Anything that has life in it, and has that much inherent value, I'd fall at the feet of that artist today. People, like Whitney Houston, she gave everything to her audience, and she had a tragic ending. She never had a chance. I don't have the capacity to do that. It's not needed. The audience are happy with what I give and I'm happy with what they give in return. We have a nice arrangement and I'm very satisfied with it. I like my life as it is. I don't have anything that I'm wishful of. Everything I've ever wanted I have. That's the biggest source of depression for me in many ways. It probably sounds really shitty to someone who's in poverty but in my world I have it all. Other people want more material items but in my world it's not important. I can have that guitar if I want it. I don't want a fancy car or to live in LA or New York or Paris. I want to stay here with my dog. As far as I'm concerned there is no up, up, up. I don't want to expand. I'm just an entertainer like anyone else but I'm lucky to know my place. Not be unsure of my place and think it should be a palace. I don't want to go to parties. I want to stay at home with my dog and watch old Humphrey Bogart movies. I'm very content. I guess it comes back to the question of why has it taken four years for this record? I don't know. It's hard to go out. I sometimes force myself to. It's hard enough making the music and putting it into a document, talking about it endlessly then running it into the ground. I'd put out a new song every week if I could but I'm not sure that's the way it's done now, unless you're a pop star. My real priority is to my dog. More than my music or anything else. If you told me something was going to happen to my dog while I was on tour I'd cancel the entire tour. It's painful enough being on tour. I see Lockett looking at pictures of his kids on the bus and it's painful. When I'm lying on the bottom bunk of a bus after a show at 3 a.m. riding through the French countryside and I'm staring at pictures of my dog, it's painful. But then there is the ecstasy of the show the next night. In the future, here's hoping there'll be some kind of technology where we can see our loved ones. One of the greatest things about my life has been taking this music across the world. I love everywhere we go. It's getting there that's the misery. It's the jet lag, it's the exhaustion, it's the dehydration. It doesn't matter if you're a huge band either. I've toured with some of the biggest and I've seen it. Even in the most glamorous and decadent of situations there's a lack of health there. And there's a lack of space. Most importantly, there's also a lack of solitude. And peace. You're under fluorescent lights. I've played Madison Square Garden a couple of times and it's actually quite depressing. The backstage area is like a government office building. It's not pleasant. You'll play a small club and the backstage area is more like being at home. Sometimes it's awful but I guess what I'm saying is it doesn't matter how big you are, there's some kind of human comfort that can't be bought and brought to you everywhere. Even if you have 50 assistants, you're still sat under fluorescent lights in a dressing room designed as a locker room for a hockey team. It's not artistic or inspiring. When you look at the all time greats such as the Stones or Bob Dylan that only play arena shows, you get to a point where you're not meeting people any more because the only people around you backstage are the people you've put there. So you become more and more isolated. I don't tour arenas specifically unless I'm opening for someone, but I've seen it and it's not healthy. The greatest thing about being a young band and getting into a van is that everywhere you go, you make new friends. You meet people and get talking to them. It's not awkward or like you're alienated or different from them. Doing that you're usually in your 20s so you don't have kids at home missing you. Your home is probably some kind of squat or apartment so you don't tend to miss it as much. That's when it's easiest to be in a band. It becomes harder as you get older and you actually have a home to go back to. I can't stress how important solitude is. As I get older I require more and more solitude. I just want to be alone. I'm a committed asexual, which might be hard for people to understand, but there's nothing more amazing to me than coming home from a tour and being utterly alone except for the company of my dog. Not talking or having to give, give, give. But then if I got my wish and stayed home all the time I'd start going crazy! I want to play music to people, I want to make people happy, but the humanity of it hasn't changed. Human condition has not changed. That's when I think about Whitney dying in a bathtub alone. It leaves a sour taste for me because she finally found solitude but it came in death. People lose track of their needs. They start letting ambition replace their needs.

his father was a very well known idol, his mother a fashion designer.

his nannies HATED having to work for his parents & take care of him because he made their lives a living hell basically. not because he was MEAN or something like that but because he was just picky & was used to getting what he wanted.

which did cause him to be bratty & he did have the tendency to throw fits when he didn't get what he wanted, always going to his parents whenever the nannies wouldn't give dae what he wanted & they'd end up either quitting or getting fired.

things didn't really change through the years, to be honest. he got less 'whiny' about things, but was still use to just asking for whatever he wanted & getting it as soon as humanly possible.

he was fourteen when he first started showing interest in music, though he didn't follow in his father's footsteps by becoming a trainee. he was more into producing & composing than anything.

it wasn't until a few years later that he started rapping to the music he was composing in order to try & get them bought by companies.

people thought that he was actually wanting to be a rapper instead of just a producer / composer, so when the companies kept asking him if he was interested in being a rapper, he figured why not.

that was the start of his career, his first mini-album skyrocketed his name further into fame, quickly becoming the most talked about rookie in the business.

mid-way home he happened to get into a crash, car getting totaled as well as a clipping a few passer-bys ... causing one to pass away & the other to get severely injured as well as dae getting a laundry list of injuries as well.

he was okay enough to walk away from the incident, though not without some problems of his own... walking back to his agent's home as it was the closest thing he could get to.

he wasn't expecting his agent to instantly try and cover everything up, calling doctors to come visit daeshim at his home, sending people out to clean up the scene of the accident & make sure that the people who were witnesses or involved were paid off to keep their mouth shut.

that guilt weighed on him pretty instantly, his injuries being hidden from the media while they healed and the other people involved continued to be paid off so that no one knew what had happened.

he dealt with all of that for a few years but after a while, he couldn't do it anymore. deciding to publicly declare he'd be taking a break from making music, producing & composing... taking time out for himself & his own mental health & wellbeing.

Best thing that has ever happened to this character: Being able to become someone who could help.

Worst thing that has ever happened to this character: Losing an immigration case where two kids were involved. The parents were deported and the kids were put into the system. A few weeks later, Aston read in the paper that the kids had been killed by their foster parents.

What do they want to be when they grow up? An artist. Aston has always had a fondness for painting and drawing but as he grew older, he realized that it wasn’t a logical career choice and his father only really left room in their family for one artist.

@thesimperiuscurse was kind enough to tag me in this tag and since I’m supposed to study for exams, I thought I’d do it right away. I’m heading off to procrastination station! :D

I’m answering these questions for, who else, Gina, but I’m going to do it under a cut, so you don’t have to scroll so much on your dash.

How old is your sim? 24.

When is your sim’s birthday? 3rd of April.

What is your sim’s zodiac sign? Aries.

What is your sim’s ethnicity? Italian.

Does your sim have any nicknames? She goes by Gina and her uncle calls her Cupcake. He’s the only one who can get away with it.

Do they have a job? If so what is it? She’s a gang leader who also works as an art thief.

Where does your sim live? In Monte Vista.

Who does your sim live with? She’s lived alone with her dad in Monte Vista since her brother moved out, but her dad has since moved to Collesena to live with her mother.

What environment did your sims grow up in? She grew up in a loving and caring environment, despite the close connection with the gang.

What are your sim’s favourite foods? Gina will eat nearly everything and she absolutely loves food. She has a special fondness for sweet stuff, especially cake (Hence the nickname Cupcake by her uncle).

What is your sim’s favourite drink? White wine. Her and Carlo constantly argue over whether white or red is better, though they generally agree that wine is fantastic.

If they have one what is your sim’s favourite color? She likes teal but it was sort of a surprise to her when Lotta first pointed out that she nearly always wears teal - she honestly didn’t think much about it and never really thought much about a first colour.

Does your sim believe in any clichés? (love at first sight). Not really. She’s a romantic at heart and wants both the big white wedding and family, but she has no illusion that it comes out of nothing.

What is your sim’s sexuality? Straight.

What is your sim’s gender identity? Cis female.

Is your sim type a or type b? If we’re talking A and B personalities, she’s more on the A side.

Is your sim introverted or extroverted? She’s more extroverted and is the type of person who invites someone over rather than being alone.

What is your sims favourite woohoo position? Gina is up for plenty of stuff and doesn’t have a particular favourite position.

Is your sim a pet person? If so what is their favourite animal? No, she is not. She likes animals but she can’t be bothered to have one herself. She would probably like the personality of cats better, but she thinks dogs make better pets but again - she wouldn’t get any.

Does your sim have a best friend? Yes, Carlotta Allegri. They’ve known each other always but only been friends for eight years.

What is/was your sim’s favourite school subject? Lol. No.

Is/was your sim a high, mid or low achiever in school? Low achiever. Very, very low.

Are they planning to go or have they already been to college? If so, what would be or what was their major? Gina went to university for around a year, studying art history. The stuff she retained was useful enough but she loathed studying.

What are your sims political beliefs? (If they have them). She doesn’t really have any. She’s happy to use the gang’s influence to affect political decisions but she mostly does it for the good of the gang.

What is one thing your sims wants to do before they die? Make a name for herself in the underworld - and she’s well on the way to doing it.

Does your sim have a favourite TV show (cable) and/or movie? So, I don’t like to connect pop culture to my stories. You will rarely, if ever, see me referencing real life works that aren’t old (we’re talking 100+ years old). It’s my attempt at keeping the stories fairly timeless, though that’s obviously impossible. To this, therefore, I’ll simply answer that no, I don’t think she has any favourites - she will watch a movie or show with a friend, but she doesn’t care enough to pick a favourite.

Is your sim a Netflix viewer? If so what are their top 3 shows. Yet again, I’m not going to mention any actual works, but as with the movie question, I don’t think she’d have any top 3 shows. She simply doesn’t care enough about movies or tv.

Does your sim like books? If so what’s their favourite one? Oh hell no.

Does your sim enjoy video games, if so what is their favourite one and do they play on PC or console? I can imagine Gina playing with her nephew when he’s playing a console game, though she’s terrible at it. She’s actually terrible at technology.

What is your sim’s personal style? For work, she likes to dress in dark clothes and to send a certain image, which results in hear nearly always wearing her leather jacket and shiny black boots - at the same time, she will still wear revealing clothing as a sort of reminder that hey, she’ll completely kick your ass and you’ll probably be lowkey attracted to her while she’s doing it.

Does your sim have a lucky charm? She does not, but she is a little superstitious so she’ll be the first to tell you not to do certain things before an art heist.

Is your sim religious? No.

What kind of music does your sim listen to and who is their favourite artist? Again, not going to mention any particular real-life artists (also not going to make any up for the story). Gina likes to listen to music that sounds good when played obnoxiously loudly and especially when she’s driving at high speeds in a stolen car. Though she also likes piano music.

Is your sim a festive person? If so what’s their favourite holiday? She’s festive when it comes to holidays that involves family so Christmas would probably be her favourite.

What is your sim’s favourite type of weather? She likes it to be sunny and very warm.

Does your sim prefer to start fights or finish them? Oh, she does both. Gina is a tiny ball of anger and it doesn’t take much to provoke her, though she’s gotten better as she’s aged. In her teen years, she was happy to start fights at the slightest provocation and she wasn’t popular with teachers as a result.

Does your sim have a dream job? She’s working it!

Does your sim have any siblings? She has an older biological brother, Giuliano, and an older adopted sister, Marta.

Does your sim get along with their family? She does, though she gets along best with her dad (whom she adores) and her siblings. Her and her mother have a healthy respect for each other but they’re too similar to really get along.

What is your sim’s favourite hobby? She likes to take a long, fast drive in the countryside and preferably in a vehicle she doesn’t own.

What does your sim look for in a romantic partner? Mostly, she looks for a connection and especially for someone she can talk to for a long stretches of time without getting bored. Though she’s not aware of it, she also looks for someone who grounds her.

What is a secret about your sim? She still has a little stuffed rabbit that she was fond of as a kid. It’s pink and because she loved it so much, it’s absolutely terrifying now. The only person who knows about it is Enzo.

What is a wish your sim has? She doesn’t verbalise it but she really wants a stable, long-lasting relationship and a loving family like the one she grew up in.

What is a flaw your sim has? Her terrible, terrible temper is her biggest flaw - with it comes a tendency to act rashly and to find it hard to forgive.

How do others generally perceive your sim? She’s generally perceived as sweet and fun-loving, though also as someone to watch out for, due to her temper.

Does your sim have a greatest achievement? Her greatest achievement is yet to come - it would be spoilery to write it here. ;)

If they have one, what is your sim’s greatest regret? She regrets getting together with Doriano Montanari as a teenager and even more she regrets not knowing that her now future sister-in-law, Flora, was seeing him as well. She wishes she could have warned her and prevented the pain Flora went throlugh at his hands.

Does your sim have a favourite emoji? Gina is completely baffled at technology and can only do the most basic things with her phone so no, she doesn’t have a favourite emoji.

Does your sim use simstagram? If so what’s their @? Another nope. (This is also my own aversion against referencing social media in my stories - re: My attempts at making the story more timeless).

What is the last text your sim sent (and who did they text)? She only texts Carlotta and all her messages are to the effect of: “get your ass over here i have wine.” (All in lower caps, of course).

09. HEADCANONS

He was a vegan before becoming a parent and now he’s a pescatarian because it’s hard to have a kid on a diet like that and it’s hard to cook separate meals.

When Sophia was first born, his wife started acting weird. He thought it was postpartum depression and let it slide. About three months in she walked out the door for work and never came back. A week later he was served with divorce papers and full custody of Sophia, she completely gave up parental rights. She has not had any contact since, minus a monthly child support cheque.

He moved to Riverdale as soon as he could after his wife left, it took awhile to get out of Seattle but he knew he didn’t want to stay in the house he had once shared with his wife.

Ryan was in an explosion about 6 years ago that nearly killed him and actually caused him to lose about 50% of his hearing. Luckily hearing aids help him through his day to day but he did learn ASL just in case any loss got worse and he went completely Deaf.

Was born the eldest Hayward, meaning that one of the days he will be taking over the family business. Speaking of the family business, Jackson walked away from it when he was younger, but returned when his father ordered someone to hurt Bethany Cohen-Chang, his girlfriend.

Speaking of Bethany, they had been on and off, due to the fact that they can’t go out into public and have to act like they’re no longer seeing each other. However, they have been sneaking around behind their families’ backs and Jackson is getting tired of it. He wants to show off his girlfriend off to the world and wants to take her out onto dates.

The Haywards & Cohen-Changs have been old family friends ever since Jackson could think of, but when Bethany got into a car accident that her husband caused, Josie knew that caused friction between the families, so she said adios to the Cohen-Changs.

Jackson had been in the Ghoulies, however, he had to quit due to the fact that his father would continue to hurt Bethany until he had gotten his way, meaning to have his son work for him. So Jackson works for his father and for the family business, which is basically the Mafia.

Jackson spends a lot of time drawing, writing and creating comics based on his personal experiences , but he knows that he can’t have them published. Jackson still has his Ghoulies leather jacket in the closet, once in a while, he puts it on and would remember the good ol days before Bethany’s car accident.
