Benvenuto Cellini's Perseus with the Head of Medusa, in the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence. The bronze statue was finished in 1554 and on the back of Perseus' helmet is a self-portrait of the sculptor.

My favorite Statue at the Loggia dei Lanzi dating to around 100CE by roman sculptors modeled after a hellenistic bronze original (~200-150BC). Whether this depicts Ajax The Greater holding the body of Achilleus or Menelaos holding the body of Patrokles is anyones guess.

"The Rape of Polyxena is a marble statue located in the Loggia dei Lanzi, the  open-air museum in Florence, Italy’s Piazza della Signoria. It was sculpted in 1868 by Italian sculptor who worked chiefly in the Romantic style, Pio Fedi (1815-1892), but it was placed alongside several sculptures from the Renaissance. The Rape of Polyxena embodies Hellenistic, Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassicist mannerisms regarding its style and theme."

Everybody knows at this point I'm not particularly a fan of Logan, but this is Simone Bianchi's art (always fantastic) and the reference to Cellini seals the deal, obviously. Click the link !
