Seeing Fanny looking after Mia (checking up on her when she's asleep and calling Julian to pull up the blanket, immediately jumping up to go to her when she's crying) makes me wonder ...
a) if she doesn't talk about her own children because she loved them so much it hurts her to talk about them or
b) if she's trying to make up for lost time with Mia because she couldn't love and care for her children like she wanted to because of the way her marriage (and thus the children) came about.
Maybe it's a little bit of both - that she loved them very fiercely but could never really show because by the time they were born, Fanny had become Lady Button already and closed off her heart to the world.

list of things that made me scream in pjo episode 3
Percy picking grover because he trusts him not to betray him!!! THEY ARE BEST FRIENDS OK
Luke still comes off as so likable and inconspicuous that whole convo he had with percy and the shoes i just
GROVER AND THE CONSENSUS SONG I CANT
annabeth staring at the different flavors of candy in the gas station and not being able to pick and just buying all of them. Thats the annabeth we deserve
ANNABETHS KNIFE APPEARANCE ALERT and a fury is IMMEDIATELY killed
uncle ferdinand foreshadowing……………
When annabeth and percy start arguing in the woods and grover tries to change the subject by talking about his uncle and they both completely ignore him. I LOVE GROVER SO MUCH
the bickering in this episode is ON POINT by the way
like the stuff theyre arguing about makes sense. Yes i would be concerned about those things too
ESPECIALLY since theres such a focus put on trust (esp after percy learns that someone is going to betray him) and percy and annabeth are arguing about stuff theyve lied or havent told each other about???? Sorry that might be skipping ahead a bit but GOD is that the good stuff
i love that they changed how the three of them ended up going into auntie em’s because before it was a little concerning that none of them figured out it was medusa. Plus having a fury outside just adds to the tension a perfect amount i think, because it really traps them in there
all the discussion about the gods and what medusa talks to percy about in the kitchen - YES MAKE ME HATE THEM!! All of this is adding up to lukes motivations making so much sense in the end
ALSO!! Them harkening back to sallys line in the first episode when she tells percy that not all heroes look like heroes and not all monsters look like monsters - they brought it back so perfectly. Percy wanting to trust medusa because of what his mom said, medusa calling Poseidon a monster, ALL OF IT is so good
When theyre down in the basement and grover puts on the shoes and then just fucking. Flies away and disappears into the darkness yelling a little. and annabeth and percy just kind of helplessly watch him go before being like - welp i guess that plans not working. That was peak comedy
them using annabeths hat on medusa and then using it to kill alecto THEY WERE SO SMART FOR THAT!!! Also percy just the invisible severed head was a hilarious concept to me
when percy suggests burying the hat in the ground with the hat on to make sure no one bad finds it and annabeth just!!! Agrees!!! And then grover has to be like no that hats important to her its a gift from her mother!!! And then percys like well we’ll find another solution then. That whole scene was good yes i liked that
also annabeth revealing that grover was her protector too and percy asks about it and grover just changes the subject and doesnt answer. He is the KING of avoidance
also grover finally interrupting annabeth and percy when they start fighting and giving his whole speech about getting along. That wouldve felt a little cheesy and preachy and out of place from anyone else but considering grover tried to get them to sing the consensus song a few hours earlier i fully believe that he would say that
I AM IMPERTINENT
Why the fuck wasnt there a lin manuel maranda jumpscare warning. I couldve used one of those
but actually all the jokes in this episode were so on point. Like percy calling drachmas chuckie cheese tokens. And him arguing about voting on the bus. Anyways
10/10 episode i will be rewatching like eight times before next tuesday.

The Yan Family Reunion (From SOKP Episode 33)
So, I am taking time to rewatch Episodes 33-38+Special of Story of Kunning Palace and I gotta say, the first reunion between Xie Wei and his Yan family is so important and emotional. The flashbacks of Xie Wei as he recites the vow he had given 20 years ago are incredible.
Tumblr media
The whole vow that Xie Wei did as not quite 7 year old: "My Mother has passed away. My Father is unworthy. I hate that I have the last name that he's disgraced. I don't want such a last name. Thank God for your mercy. In a crisis, one sees one's true nature."
Tumblr media
"I, Ju'an, dare not forget it. I'm willing to give up my old last name. Abandon my old name, and my old identity. No matter how hard it is, I won't change my mind."
Tumblr media
The fact that Xie Wei came up with this when he was that young, after being traumatized by the massacre he'd seen by the rebel king, his father and aunt basically giving him up as a sacrificial lamb, and to only be saved by his said rebel king.
Just.... damn.
Then Xie Wei goes on to say: "I am no longer Xue Dingfei, much less a viscount of the Xue family. All I have is the Yan family's blood. And my name is Xie Wei. Not only do I live for myself, but also for the 300 loyal souls.
I vow to never let it go and seek justice for them."
Tumblr media
The vow is raw, intense, and beautiful. It's like Xie Wei is unraveling all of his defense walls kept around his soul to bear his heart to his uncle and cousin. The only two relatives that he trusts. He lets them see just what has been hidden inside of him all these years. And understandably, both his uncle and cousin are moved to almost tears.
And then his uncle responds with something equally emotional: "Okay. It doesn't matter what your name is. You'll always be the child of the Yan family."
Tumblr media
This whole scene made me cry. It was beautiful, raw and open. And his uncle accepting Xie Wei was epic. He didn't have to say much to get the point across to Xie Wei that he was loved. That he was cherished. That he was a Yan. And the Yans protect their own. Marquis Yan, in the limited amount of time that Xie Wei has known him, has not only accepted him, but has taken him under his wing like his own child. Marquis Yan is the father Xie Wei never got to have. And Yan Lin, bless his heart, accepts Xie Wei as his brother without any hesitation, not just a heroic cousin. Yan Lin is the brother Xie Wei never got to have. Such a beautiful scene. I cried so many tears for them. That Xie Wei finally got to have this moment - just ahhhh.

“Your mother is dead. You always omit that truth.”
As venus-is-thinking was rewatching DRDT’s Chapter 1 Free Time Events last night, she sent me screenshots of this one interaction between Charles and Whit, noting it as odd:
Tumblr media
(She was right, btw. Whit, no matter how hard you try, you are not a normal man.)
Now, with the context of Chapter 2, we can probably assume that what Charles said here triggered Whit’s memories about his dead mom. There are a couple of options here, but the first one that jumped to my mind was that Whit was about to correct Charles, informing him that he actually learned how to cook himself. Obviously, he would then realize that saying this would bring up his mothers death, which he prefers to not mention, so he switches topics. While this option makes the most sense, given that Whit previously says, “teaching your kids how to cook is, like, the number one job of parents,” I would be surprised if Whit’s parents didn’t teach him how to cook at all.
It depends on how early in his life his mom died, I guess. And how long his dad has been away.
...wait, how long has Whit’s dad been away?
And then, an idea struck me. What if Whit’s dad doesn’t know that his wife is dead? What if Whit never told him?
This, of course, being a weightier spin on Whit’s secret, “Your mother is dead. You always omit that truth.” You omit that truth from who, exactly? People who already know what happened, or people like Charles and Teruko who don’t?
As I’m sure many people have assessed, Whit’s secret is comparatively pretty tame compared to the rest of the options. While his classmates are being revealed as manipulators and murderers, all we learn about Whit is a sad fun fact. But if Whit’s secret, in full, is actually “You never told anyone about the death of your mother, not even your father,” it becomes a much more severe secret.
Now, you might be asking, “if that’s the case, why wouldn’t Whit’s secret just say that outright instead?” Mastermind Whit interpretations aside, we have to remember that Despair Time is canonically a TV show. Assuming that Lin is watching his son on the big screen, as long as Whit’s secret says anything about his mom being dead, Lin would learn about his son’s concealment of the truth.
However, the question of why Whit’s secret wouldn’t be phrased like that for the sake of the other students remains. My best theory is this: it’s to make Whit suffer. I’m sure we all remember David’s heel turn in Chapter 2 Episode 11. After spewing his hateful monologue, he expresses how freeing it is to finally speak his mind.
Tumblr media
For Whit, by not explaining what his secret is in full, they don’t give him the catharsis of expressing all of his thoughts and pain out loud. They still provide him the hopeful option of being able to salvage part of his story amongst the other students. While the motives of the TV show haven’t been expressly stated, it’s a pretty common killing game move to give the students hope just to rip it away and create despair, right...?
It’s like how Hu mentions that some secrets might be phrased unfavorably to make the students look worse. In this case, Whit’s secret could be phrased favorably with the intention of making him stressfully walk the edge of revealing the full truth and keeping it hidden. And, knowing Whit, there’s no way that he wouldn’t at least take a shot at repression.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Getting back to the secret itself, the way Whit talks about his family life also makes me believe that this could be the case. Through his dialogue, we learn that Whit lives a very solitary life. He talks about no one being home often enough to keep a pet, how lonely it would be to stay in the house all day, and how he’s befriended his neighbors’ dog and considers her family (but not the neighbors themselves?).
Sure, Whit is (barely) college aged, and college kids are typically considered able to live on their own. But Teruko and the gang believed that they were about to head to the Hope’s Peak entrance ceremony, so as far as Whit remembers, he only graduated high school very recently. If Lin knew that Elizabeth was dead, would he really leave his grieving teenage son completely alone in another country?
Tumblr media
Because Whit’s dad doesn’t seem to currently reside within the United States, as far as I can tell. Maybe it’s just the Beetlejuice: The Musical fan in me, but I have to imagine that letting your kid grieve their dead mom whilst being completely isolated would be a very bad idea.
It would make sense to me if the reason why Lin allows this is because he doesn’t know. If Whit didn’t tell him the truth, either because it was too painful for him to say or because he didn’t want to jeopardize his father’s work abroad. According to Whit, his dad is “a real quiet dude,” so I could believe that he wouldn’t have any coworkers come up and console him for his loss, letting the cat out of the bag. The fact that he’s abroad further facilitates that idea-- how would Lin’s foreign coworkers even learn about Elizabeth’s passing when he himself doesn’t know?
You could run into problems if Lin went too long without seeing his wife, and started to wonder where she was. However, if Whit did something like impersonating his mom via text, it would be more possible for Lin to simply not notice that he hadn’t seen his wife in a while.
Venus also came up with the possibility that Lin is actually more of a deadbeat. He “works overseas” because, well, he lives there, having left his family behind. Whit could dye his hair blond not just to look like his mom, but also to look less like his dad. His skills as the Ultimate Matchmaker could have began at home with their split. It sounds a little implausible, but we know that Whit likes to ignore things that make him uncomfortable and put a positive spin on them.
At any rate, I believe this is a hypothetical worth considering. I definitely want to keep a closer eye on Whit’s backstory going further, as it’s possible that it’s not exactly what it seems.

TTEOTM Easter Eggs Part 2 (Production Details)
Anyone still rewatching Till the End of the Moon? Here's another round of easter eggs!
(1) Does this shot look familiar? In Ep 1, we see a visual reference to the first teaser poster released back in Nov 2021.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(2) In Ep 1, we already see Xiaoyao Sword formation, which Cang Jiumin learns from Zhaoyou in Ep 30.
Tumblr media
(3) In Ep 2, we are introduced to Ye Bingchang, who is feeding the poor. What is she serving? Congee. (Not poisonous, of course)
Tumblr media
(4) Throughout Ep 3-7, there are many shots of observing crows which explain how Tantai Jin gets his intel, e.g. the location of the dream demon's forest, his maid Yingxin's plot to poison him, Ye Xiwu's plan to set up her sister with the unplesant fifth prince, or Ye Xiwu and Xiao Lin's conversation about TTJ.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(5) When we first encounter Mingye in his dragon form, he is shown holding tightly onto a broken clam shell.
Tumblr media
In addition, the dragon has two eye colors: TTJ enters Bo're dream through the black eye (half god) and XYW enters through the red eye (half demon), foreshadowing Mingye and Sangjiu's fate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(6) Sangjiu actually manages to drag Mingye (drugged and drunk) all the way back to her own bedroom to complete her wedding night.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(7) Tantai Jin finds out that the congee Ye Xiwu cooked for him is poisoned through the butterfly that dropped dead after tasting the congee. As you may recall, TTJ's mother has an affinity to butterflies. There's a fan theory that this is his mother protecting him.
In fact, the butterfly also shows up in Ep 6 when Ye Xiwu goes on an acid trip conjures an illusion to cheer up Tantai Jin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(8) During Tantai Jin and Ye Xiwu's wedding night where the Dragonheart Shield flew out to protect Tantai Jin from the three final nails, we briefly see Mingye's eyes as though he is protecting him.
Tumblr media
(9) In Ep 36, an impressive one-shot-through sequence is shown to represent the evil and suffering of the world. We follow a sick man who is too poor to buy medicine. We've actually seen the man and the montage before as he was kidnapped by the dream demon and his experiences harvested to grow nightmare flowers in Ep 3.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(10) In TTJ's own Bo're dream, we see YXW's father walking around with crutches even though he was physically fit and died fighting TTML's army. That is because the dream was created in TTJ's mind, and TTJ never found out that he was faking the injury the entire time.
(11) Sangjiu and Mingye's wedding is an exact mirror of Tantai Jin and Li Susu's wedding, from the entrance on a flying carriage to the procession. Even the dancers are the same!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(12) Ye Xiwu's grave in the Jing mausoleum says "beloved wife of Tantai Jin", but TTJ's grave only says "husband of YXW". TTJ wasn't sure he was loved by YXW at that point (but it would also be slightly presumptuous of him to etch that after the events of Ep 39.)

Cupid's Last Wish Final Thoughts
Watch It Or Drop It The Challenge
A fireworks show of a drama which suffered from a few awkward pauses and which, even though it ended with the dampest of squibs, was a joy to watch.
Tumblr media
Strengths
I think part of the reason I held off on watching Cupid's Last Wish for so long was because I was a little leery on the whole "BL but with body swap" premise. Don't get me wrong, I actually love the concept of a good body swap plot, who doesn't, I just haven't seen it done well very often. Luckily, however, Cupid's Last Wish more than impresses on this part and what could have been a very messy plot indeed was instead an incredibly well executed exploration of the self, the body, and the complex relationship between them. Through it's central premise Cupid's Last Wish delved into themes of gender identity, gender dysphoria and, as @wen-kexing-apologist, @lurkingshan, and @so-much-yet-to-learn delve into in this post, maps out a truly trans experience and, for that, it shines.
Another strength of the show, linked directly to the body swap, was how well it handled the misunderstanding and miscommunication between the main pairing. Normally, when confronted with a romantic miscommunication situation in a drama, it makes me want to tear my hair out with how unnecessary it is and how easily it could be fixed but not here. I could literally see Korn sending the wrong message and Win completely misleading things and I could understand why. At no point (apart from perhaps the last 2 episodes which I'll get to in a bit) was I questioning why Win thought Korn was in love with Lin or how Korn was unable to see what his actions were communicating to Win.
A final two strengths (before I move on to the weaknesses) are the cast and the soundtrack. I won't go too into depth (after all I expected Earth and Mix to put on an excellent performance) but the dynamics between the central trio were fantastic and Jan and Mix sharing two dual roles was an impressive (and impressively convincing) sight to see. Likewise the soundtrack was pretty basic but effective, the use of Tillybird's "Just Being Friendly" was a highlight and I've had Mix and Earth's "Closer" on repeat for my own trip.
Weaknesses
For all that Cupid's Last Wish does right, I won't lie, it also does quite a bit wrong with the main issue being that as well thought out and as beautifully executed as the body swap plot line, everything else feels a little... half hearted, half baked, half done. The inheritance plotline felt silly within a second of it being introduced (I still don't get why Win was so angry or why he held the grudge for so long when everything we'd been shown up to the "big reveal" indicated he should have felt the opposite); the Aunt and Uncle were barely there and, brief attempted murder on the part of the Aunt aside, barely villains at all (and were actually quite reasonable once they got to have civil chat); and the whole plot twist with the mum being the homophobic mastermind behind Win and Korn's estrangement was so poorly done and so rushed I'm still angry about it (she did absolutely nothing to be forgiven and I can't believe her revelation was swept under the rug in seconds).
I wish I could say these were minor things but they were, technically, half the drama and really soured things when it was time to focus back on them. What really put the nail in the coffin though, is the fact that these weaker elements became the entire focus of the show in the final two episodes which meant it ended with a decidedly wet plop rather than with a bang.
Conclusion
There is much to love about this drama and perhaps even more to explore with regards to its central theme but unfortunately some of its weaker elements were just a little too loud to completely ignore. I would still rewatch it (in fact I plan to) and I would still recommend it to anyone thinking of giving it a go (and even foist on people who weren't thinking about it at all) but I would also say that I wouldn't judge anyone who decided to speed run the final 2 episodes.
Watch or Drop: WATCH (but with a minor warning)
Final Score: 7.5/10 (closer to an 8 than a 7)
Would I rewatch it: Yes, heck I even want to write meta about it if I can find the time.

ok i know someone has probably already done this nif commentary since the drama's nearly 10 years old but the snow motif is everything and i was really watching for it on my rewatch and of all the snow scenes the iconic argument in ep33 goes so hard.
so i was reading cyn-lynn.blogspot . com 's nif recap and review and it defines the snow as a symbol of 'corruption'. i agree. but to expand on that, the snow is a bad omen- it covers things up, it sows confusion, things are lost or unseen because of it. it conceals truth and buries justice. episode 33 is almost a breaking point in the relationship between mei changsu and prince jing, because they can't communicate openly, and feel that the other doesn't understand. the true feelings can't be unburied, they are going unseen. and the way that the characters move through the setting- the snow- is amazing.
mei changsu waits outside prince jing's mansion, surrounded by snow, insisting on speaking with him. prince jing is inside, mei changsu stands under… the shelter of a doorway into the courtyard? not sure what the terminology is here, i was reading about siheyuan trying to figure it out but no luck. it is snowing all around mei changsu (and zhen ping)- the establishing shot shows snow both falling in front of and behind them in this view through the shelter. it is snowing between mei changsu and prince jing (in the main building across the courtyard). each in their little bubbles of shelter, but separated by the snow, and the current bad blood.
finally- after lie zhanying has crossed between them as a mediator- prince jing leaves the main house, goes out into the snow, and then out of the snow again- entering mei changsu's shelter. he has taken the initiative (after some prodding) to make an effort to clear the confusion away and make himself understood. the snow still falls all around them, but now they are together in the shelter to talk. however, there's still discord. prince jing insists that mei changsu understand that he intends to save wei zheng. mei changsu acquiesces in spite of- because of- a major piece of concealed miscommunication: prince jing believes it is what lin shu would want. that one stays buried in the snow for now. but prince jing refuses his terms (that jing manor cannot be involved) because he doesn't trust mei changsu not to let anything happen to wei zheng- not approving of the handling of the duchess' assault and his mother's punishment, prince jing's understanding of mei changsu's whole character is corrupted. confused. concealed by the snow.
after making this opinion clear, and suggesting they end their relationship, prince jing turns and strides out into the snow. they attempted communication and clarity together in the sheltered space, but didn't quite get there. prince jing's corrupted image of the truth remains as he walks into the snow again. mei changsu follows him without hesitation, unwilling to let the misunderstanding continue. he needs to make prince jing see and accept that if prince jing attempts the rescue on his own it will be a disaster and only spill more blood (and then how will he face lin shu?). this is the absolute truth. prince jing knows it when he hears it and turns away to step out of the snow- back into shelter (with convenient pillar to hit), back into clear-eyed understanding of the situation. mei changsu is right behind him, offering up, finally, that he understands prince jing's strong feelings on the matter (wanting to make up for his inability to help at meiling). and that's the key- mei changsu joins him, mostly out of the snow again, and promises his sincerity again. this time, prince jing can accept both his sincerity and that he will need mei changsu to save wei zheng. leaving the corruption and confusion of the snow behind them, they finally go inside to talk.
the snow is a bad sign. it's what buried truth and justice for 13 years, what covers up the current corrupt dealings at court, and what almost derails the fight to uncover the chiyan case and bring it back into the light- certainly if prince jing had never spoken to mei changsu again- if he also got caught and confused by the snow- meiling would have stayed buried forever. but instead, they found their way out of the snow together, even without the help of mei changsu's concealed identity. if all of that symbolism is intentional in the set- the buildings, the courtyard- and knowing this drama i think it is- it's exquisite.

You know what my first thought was when Alison realised that the exorcism didn't work? That it's a red herring.
Because there's this moment immediately afterwards where the vicar drives away and the ghosts are standing outside, and I was 100% expecting them not to be able to go back inside because the exorcism banished them from the house.
I still kind of want to write a fic about this idea because surely that would have affected Alison and Mike's decision to leave. After all, they're no longer living together with family which was their main reason to sell the house. And there's, of course, the angst potential because the ghosts would essentially lose their home in this scenario.
And if you want to make it particularly angsty, maybe it's just Thomas and Humphrey's Head that can't go back into the house because they were the only ones standing in front of the vicar during the exorcism. The two (arguably) loneliest ghosts, being separated from their family - the thought alone is heartbreaking.

Why I Didn't Review Warrior Season Two
Tumblr media
The answer goes beyond any discouragement caused by the lack of comments or Twitter Likes on "Warrior Season One Highlights."  With the long-awaited third season airing now, I decided to share a longer explanation for failing to fulfill my announcement to cover episodes from every one.  This article combines writings from the unfinished "Warrior Season Two Highlights" draft, with sentiments I experienced while watching the first 20 episodes all over again.
Special thanks to people who pushed "Like" and/or "Reblog" on the Tumblr repost of "Warrior Season One Highlights," for assuring me that an audience could exist for my coverage of this show.
Among this season's six directors, two possess Asian heritage, who in total directed three of the 10 episodes.  The ones I considered reviewing include "To a Man With a Hammer, Everything Looks Like a Nail" (#16; directed by Vietnamese-American Dustin Nguyen; written by Jonathan Tropper & Brad Kane) and "If You Wait By The River Long Enough" (#17; directed by Anglo-Burmese Omar Madha; written by Kenneth Lin).
The end of Warrior Season One felt like it would've made a satisfactory ending to Ah Sahm's story as a whole.  This made it hard for me to tell exactly how much of following seasons' content draws from "The writings of Bruce Lee," and how much came from his successors in the writing staff. The documentary Becoming Warrior strongly suggests that almost all of it came from the latter, but I didn't find the documentary until after my rewatch of Seasons One and Two.
Season Two presents some admirable efforts to flesh out the supporting cast.  Some of the most compelling storylines include Young Jun taking over the Hop Wei, and Ah Toy falling in love with vineyard owner Nellie Davenport (Miranda Raison). Regarding new additions to the main cast, new Hop Wei recruit Hong (Chen Tang) manages to endear.  His homosexuality delivers a unique reason to depict him as an outcast to both Chinese and non-Chinese, though Ah Sahm and Young Jun both sympathize with and befriend him quickly after his arrival.
One difficulty I experience while attempting to recommend Season Two concerns the misfortunes of every woman who wins Ah Sahm's heart, outside of his family.  Fight club owner Rosalita Vega (Puerto Rican Maria-Elena Laas) appeals by carrying out an agenda independent from Ah Sahm's story, and by holding her own in fight scenes.  Unfortunately, even though she completes the agenda, her romantic subplot with Ah Sahm concludes with an overly-cruel means of increasing his loneliness in America.  Meanwhile, Penny's various struggles come across as a reminder for female viewers to appreciate their 21st century privileges.  The hiring of a female director, Dennie Gordon, helped prevent the reminder from feeling too condescending.  However, it might still unnerve viewers who feel that women have fewer privileges now than during Warrior's Cinemax run.
By the end of my first viewing of Season Two, an apprehensive part of my mind developed the sense that the writers possibly ran out of ideas for Ah Sahm.  Even though he remains important to others in San Francisco, they often threaten to overshadow him.  Sometimes, even the show's least interesting characters seemed to receive more screentime than him.  In contrast, a more optimistic part of my mind developed the sense that the writers decided to save some compelling ideas for Ah Sahm's story for the future.  Even if it took longer than they probably hoped for Warrior to receive a third season, it feels fortunate that they and Andrew Koji could finally bring those ideas to life.
Plug
Violence towards Asian-Americans persists at alarming levels.  I would like my readers to donate to The AAPI Community Fund, even if I personally take no share of the funds.

I recently rewatched the final episode of Thunderbolt Fantasy S1, and the Lin/Mie fight is still one of my favorite scenes from the show. Not only do I love the trope of “arrogant all-powerful/chessmaster villain with a plan for everything absolutely breaks down in terror and loses control”* (not to mention it happens to BOTH characters), but the fight choreo and CGI effects are simply AWESOME.
*also your obligatory reminder of why ep 23 & 38 are the best episodes of RGU

resolution is such a nice last portrait of how 13′s relationship with the fam works well before theyre all put in a situation where its pitfalls become super clear
we see 13 use “it’s personal” to convince yaz (especially) to go back to the tardis with the others and take care of lin. the next time we see her use that is in fugitive when graham asks what the master’s message for her said. graham’s reaction then is very similar i think to yaz’s reaction to the same line in resolution. it’s a very clear boundary that they all seem to be very familiar with. the doctor knows how and where to stop them, the fam knows when they have to back down. their relationship works. for now.
and we see the ways and situations 13 demands their trust AND how she fails that trust:
when the dalek has aaron and demands to be taken to the fleet:
RYAN: Doctor, do something. DOCTOR: Fine. YASMIN: Doctor, seriously? DOCTOR: My decision.
“my decision.” i like your input but when push comes to shove, when the stakes are high, when theres great risk to your life, i take the final decision and you accept that. (why i want yaz to take that decision from her in the finale) (”i will not let you die because of decisions ive taken”)
and when she opens the door to try and make the dalek fall into the supernova but it wouldve taken aaron with it if not for ryan:
RYAN: Help him. DOCTOR: Trust me?
their relationship works. it works very well the way it’s designed. the way the doctor has set it up. it’s just not designed for the circumstances that they find themselves in in s12 bc,,, the doctor didnt set it up for those circumstances. i think what she had in terms of companionship in s11 was... maybe not what she wanted necessarily, at least not at first, but what she needed a little bit. or at least better than having been left on her own. what she really needed was i think maybe like, donna, but having three superficial friendships was better than like a snowmen kind of situation. but having three, or any, really deep vulnerable friendships was not,, possible. and im not sure it’s what she needed either. not that soon. like if she actually managed to get another friendship that deep so soon after the doctor falls it would be another clara situation i think. but worse. like a worse clara situation. can you imagine.
anyway point is ive been mean to 13 a lot about how shes treated the fam i think shes been unfair to them a lot of the time but rewatching resolution really made me feel like oh, she did that well actually. she makes sure her relationships are exactly what she wants or needs or can handle and she communicates her boundaries well and she has friends who respect them and would even be able to give her what she needed on a less superficial level which is maybe less to her credit and more just luck but it wasnt really her fault that after s11 those relationships kinda snapped under pressure she didnt mean to put them in. i think.

So I finally watched the interview where L-M talks about the songs that shaped him (you might know who this is lol) and I think I just fell even more in love with this adorable genius???? Great interview!!
ahhh, yes! honestly, one of my favourite interviews with lin, i could really listen to him talk about music for hours... i should rewatch it asap!
i admire how passionate he is about things that he loves, and also his insane energy: that's what makes everything better! i remember i made a playlist after and i was listening to those songs for hours haha (he has such a great taste, right? he also surprised me with under pressure, i love this song so much). and the fact that all of those songs were so different??? sorry i am still processing all of it hahah (it's been WEEKS, will i ever move on?).
and to resolve your doubts, yes, i think i know who you are anon 🤭

I should rewatch and finish House MD one day. Thing is I was watching it on cable, and it's kinda the last show I watched religiously in the pre-streaming model, right? So I stayed up late to catch the 2hour long episode where House is getting finally treated for his dellusions -and he decides that he wants to get better instead of being a miserable cynical lonely asshole forever- and I felt like that was the natural end of at least my relationship to that show. So it just didn't really make sense to keep going
Plus I'm terrified of rewatching this episode since it has a long scene where House raps with Lin Manuel Miranda
