god what is your childhood trauma
I knew trusting Jordie was a good idea. While I still have timeline/minor pacing issues (Issue #9 has Joyce believing Buffy’s on an out of state field trip for a week - which means the issues are covering 1-2 days at a time?) It’s all very Jeremy Bearimy.
Issue 10 introduces Kendra, more background parents, more details about Rose (!!!!), Robin’s mission, and Giles continues to have a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad attitude. Is this Toxic Masculinity or just the Hellmouth amplifying bullshit?
Tumblr media
I will post my thoughts about the last issue of Angel eventually, because wow, the gay - but I will say it’s interesting how each line is dealing with the absence of its titular character. With Angel’s absence, the Fang Gang is concerned, but they’re handling it. Buffy’s absence in Sunnydale is having major repercussions however and while it was touched on in issue 9, issue 10 really emphasizes how she’s a necessary part of the Scoobies and how they’re floundering without her.
I could say it’s because Angel hasn’t built up a bond with his gang to the extent Buffy has, but also I think it’s just where the characters are in their lives - the Scoobies are sixteen, and it’s implied that Fred and Gunn are older young adults, with more independence and less family/school to concern themselves with.
The pressure to fit in, to be normal, to belong - it matches up neatly with Sunnydale coping with the aftermath of the Hellmouth opening. Robin, much like Willow in issue #9, is frustrated with keeping with the status quo and it's his POV this issue opens up with. He knows there’s bad shit going on, and that they should be focusing on surviving/fighting, not worrying about grades and chores like raking the leaves.
Except he doesn’t know exactly what he should be doing - and it doesn’t help that Kendra is counting on him to be her Watcher. She asks him when they’re going to be talking about hellfire and her training, and Robin tells her that they don’t do any of that, Buffy does. Except of course - she’s not there and Robin has to admit again that he doesn’t know.
For an informant to the Watcher’s Council, Robin knows less than was hinted at in previous issues, and it’s amusing that Kendra knows more about his background than he does hers. Which is a nice little inverse from the usual Watcher - Slayer relationship, isn’t it?
Kendra is apparently older than Robin, but it’s not stated by how much - she does have TV canon’s sense of tradition, but with less ‘the Watcher is always right and I am the Council’s tool,’ and more ‘we’re partners and I’m already fifty steps ahead of you, so catch up, you fool’ which is just refreshing from the start.  “You’re the only resource I have in this town...it’s time you make yourself useful.”
BAMF energy.
Speaking of which, let’s talk about Cordelia, and her Jurassic park quoting excellence. I’m telling you, every character gets an issue or two (or three) to shine, and in this issue, the girls we haven’t seen as much of, really get their day.
The sequence of Cordelia walking to school is nifty for the sense of humor - Cordy has been the omniscient ‘Gossip Girl’ for the series and would naturally be the best at social media in 2019. Just as she’s documenting ‘life finds a way’ about the bird making a nest in the ruins of a tree, the audience spots what she doesn’t, the snake crawling up the other side of the tree, poised to strike.
And just as Cordy says, “Gives me hope!”
She gets lured into a trap.
The incel/sad lonely white boy in the basement stock character is not one I enjoy reading about because too many times his real-life counterparts murder a lot of people (often out of hatred of women) and I have no sympathy/interest for that.
He’s a pathetic figure but that makes it no less scary to see him throw Cordelia down a flight of stairs into his basement.
I think this being potentially excused away (thanks not vague enough official preview summaries!) as part of the Hellmouth is bringing out the worst in the dudes is weak because again, real-life losers like these characters do this without an evil mystical force being the reason all the time.
But something is clearly wrong with Giles, as he almost attacks Robin in the library, and Robin nearly attacks him back. The copious amount of sweating, the murder eyes - the verbal knives out. Giles was scary in issue 9, and he’s even more menacing in this confrontation. He’s abusing his authority as an adult and being incredibly dismissive of Robin, which is bad enough on a personal level, but as an educator - really bad.
Willow and Xander luckily come in to defuse the situation, but now Robin has a problem with them and how come he’s suddenly responsible for Sandy Noxon’s disappearance (oh yes they did and yes I saw what they were doing there).
It’s accusation town as Robin rips into Willow and Xander, but not before he tells Giles that he’s lost Buffy, they all have, and that he [Giles] is a failure. This conversation is another one of those where two characters are talking around each other - Giles is thinking Robin is being disrespectful, while Robin is pointedly calling out Giles for his failure as Buffy’s Watcher, and as an authority figure in general. Giles tells Robin he’ll do nothing, but Robin scoffs ‘Watch me.’
Old versus new, tradition battling discovery - it’s a pretty obvious parallel setting Giles up as the Old Guard and Robin forging his way with ‘his’ Slayer and their new mission.
Back to Robin tearing into Willow and Xander: their conversation in the hallway reminds me a lot of the fights that the Scoobies had in the show - while not as ugly as the DMP confrontation or that bullshit season 7 episode *cough*, it does some excellent character work in the dialogue: it reinforces the idea of Willow and Cordelia being friendly/nice to each other, Xander’s unwavering loyalty to Buffy - and getting annoyed with Robin on her behalf, and then Robin calling out Willow for ghosting Buffy (aha, so he did notice her even when he was ignoring her) in the previous issues. Robin goes a little Mr. Hyde then - accusing Willow and Xander of shifting the blame on others when Buffy isn’t around, which...kind of a stretch because how would he know?  The Evil Flop Sweat is back, and he projects his frustration with Giles not helping him on them - yelling, ‘Instead of going to other people for help, why don’t you figure out things yourself, for once?’
and then ends on, “Buffy isn’t here, and we don’t know when she’s coming back...you should try to get real comfortable with that.”
The panel that follows after Robin’s outburst? A M A Z I N G.
David Lopez’s expressions for Willow and Xander is just...guys.
Xander continues to be the most emotionally well adjusted of the Scoobies (!!! The growth! We love to see it.) as Willow tells him she and Rose are broken up and for him to just leave it.
Which brings me to the unicorn I’ve been chasing since she debuted in the comic, SOME ACTUAL PERSONAL DETAILS ABOUT ROSE. I was frustrated with their breakup for a number of reasons - a) we know so little about Rose beyond the being Willow’s girlfriend, b) so much of their relationship was off-page, c) Willow was lying to her for a lot of the time, d) when they broke up, it lacked real emotional depth and I wasn’t that invested in the first place.
BUT NOW.
Rose has a tattoo! That says I TRUST YOU in FRENCH. A semi-absent father figure but one who is loving and supportive! What’s that? Two dads and a possible stepdad and Giles when he’s not being Evil Flop Sweat Man? That’s four canonical Father figures that aren’t evil or negligent. Points to House Bellaire!
And Rose being a kid that moves around a lot because her dad relocates for work, and Sunnydale being a ‘real’ home and staying for good because her mom made it happen. Then wanting Willow to meet her dad when he was in town - but now, of course, that’s not happening and guys. Character details have been provided.
I have a better idea of Rose now, and I like it. And I like that she’s kind and looks after her classmates.....
even bad news bear Luke. LUKE.
The sense of dread (and the colors! I love the work the Boom! colorists are doing for Buffy and Hellmouth) is excellent as she goes downstairs and discovers a bound and gagged Cordelia in the basement.
When Rose and Cordelia team up against Luke - it’s one of the best sequences in the issue. It shows that Cordy is unbelievably assured in every situation, no matter how dire it initially looks, and that Rose is really brave and resourceful (and deserves to be part of the Scooby Gang. Draw her on one of the covers, you cowards!)
It’s telling that Cordelia and Rose assume that it’s Buffy who saves them at the last minute - Cordelia because she associates Buffy with weird feats of strength and also just showing up at these moments, and Rose with hearsay - Buffy’s weird, but she gets results.
Kendra about to introduce herself and then Robin stealing her thunder and her reaction shot to said thievery?
I’m so glad she’s here. And that we’re going to get a girl gang in the next issue.

New asks for my leetle french gorl
Which parent do they look the most like?
She doesn’t remember her real parents when she was alive, but she slightly remembers a redheaded man who would hold her hand when she was small and a blonde woman who would eat dinner with her. So she thinks she looks like the redheaded man.
Is there a name they were almost given (either by their parents or during character creation)?
Sasha doesn’t remember her name at all from when she was alive, and only knows herself as “The Sasha”. But based from her erased memories, she knows that she used to be called something else.
From a narrative standpoint, it was a complete coincidence that Ravi and Sasha are consecutive letters. I was looking for a French sounding name, and came up with Ravi and Sasha’s experiment group after I made them both.
What were they like as a kid (if they’re currently a child, what would they be like as a teen)?
Tam and Ciri are going to have the worst time with teen Sash. If you think nine year old Sasha is snooty, fifteen year old Sasha will only care about clothes, being popular, and being the best ballerina. As teen Ravi will eventually call his sister, “A Nightmare on Pink Street”
What’s their drinking tolerance and what kind of drunk are they?
She is much too little to drink, but when she gets a body that can drink, she’s the full on sleepy drunk who just wants everyone to shut up so she can take a nap.
Where do they like to be touched?
She really likes when Tam gives her piggyback rides because she likes feeling tall.
What’s their favorite position (top/bottom/switch/pillow princess/etc.)
N/A, she’s 9. However she will kill Ravi and everyone else to take the top bunk of a bunk bed.
What are their kinks?
N/A.
How do they feel about adrenaline (roller coasters, extreme sports, etc.)?
She absolutely hates roller coasters of any kind and would much rather go on the merry-go-round or other slow rides with her mom and dad than go on high thrill rides with the rest of her siblings.
What is their fight or flight response?
Sasha is always down to put anyone in their place, regardless if its her brothers and sisters or a bad guy, probably to the chagrin of Ciri and Tam, who have to wheel Sasha away from yelling at Queen Genesis about not following traffic laws.
What’s their pain tolerance?
As an android, she has a sturdier body than most children and can take probably the most hits out of her siblings before she’s down. She doesn’t feel a lot of pain, but she is the type of child that if Ravi accidentally bumps her with his arm, she will start crying and say that Ravi hit her.
What character archetype are they the most like (the Innocent, the Hero, etc.)
It fits mostly because she is a child, but Sasha fits well with The Child/The Innocent. She “grew up” thinking she was human and that she was at the Helian Academy on behalf of Naomi. When Ciri told her that she was an android and later when she found out that she used to be a living, breathing, human child, all of her old life and innocence was stripped away.
What TV-Tropes trope would they be?
Alright listen. I love Sasha, you love Sasha. But she is the exact description of the ‘Tiny Tyrannical Girl’. She is bossy, stubborn, and ready to drag you to Hell for any infraction.
What John Mulaney quote/bit do they most embody?
“Thirteen-year-olds Nine-year-olds are the meanest people in the world. They terrify me to this day, because 8th 4th graders will make fun of you but in an accurate way. They will get to the thing that you don’t like about you. They don’t even have to look at you for long. They’ll just be like, ‘Ha, ha, ha, ha, hey, look at that high wasted man. He got feminine hips.’ And I’m like, ‘No! That’s the thing I’m sensitive about.’“
Sasha is the nine year old.
With the exception of love interests and immediate family, who are they closest to?
Despite cold beginnings, Sasha has a fairly good relationship with Allura. Each of them definitely thinks they are the leader of their friendship, but Sasha helps reel Allura’s more idiotic ideas in while Allura helps Sasha out of her rigid shell. Now that Kaelani is aboard, Sasha will gravitate towards her for being more grounded.
What is their moral alignment? What would have to happen for it to shift?
She’s still Lawful Neutral because she’s more about people following the rules and doesn’t care about being nice. For her to shift in the good direction would just her spending more time with her siblings and parents and learn that sometimes being the most obedient (or the most fancy) isn’t being the best. To shift evil, she would have to either be captured by the people who made her, or to had stay with the Helians.
Are they a morning person? What are they like before 8am?
Sasha’s used to getting up early at the Academy to spend hours in the dance studio, so she’s usually the first one up of her siblings. She’s actually surprisingly adorable in the morning. She’s more affectionate in the morning and will try to hang on to her mom and dad wherever they go.
What are they like when they’re tired?
Despite her otherwise bratty attitude, Sasha is adorable when sleepy. She is still a pretty demanding child, but really just wants cuddles and donuts.
What are they like in arguments?
Sasha goes directly for the “I don’t have to listen to you because your purse isn’t gucci.” She just straight up doesn’t listen to what the other person says.
What is their dominant hand?
She’s naturally a leftie, but at the National Academy, they made people write with their right hand, so now she’s ambidextrous.
Out of 10, how happy are they? How happy do they think they are?
Although she has had some fucked up things done in her life, Sasha doesn’t let much things phase her (or if it does, she doesn’t let it show), so most of the time she’s at about an 8 out of 10. It’d be higher if the people on the Freedom Vessel cared more about their reputation.

That Boy is a Monster
Chapters: 1/4?
Fandom: Check Please! (Webcomic)
Rating: Teen
Words: 1500
Warnings (overall): body horror, angst (Let me know if there are others that should be added!), mention of a couple of real life hockey players.
Notes: Inspired by a few things, but mainly @whoacanada‘s NHL!Bitty series and my commission from @omgpieplease. Title from Lady Gaga. I’d started on this before @omgcpumpkins, but I thought it fit the theme. :)
Summary:
Bitty knew about the hockey gods, of course. Hockey players could be quite superstitious indeed, making their own rituals in routines. But he didn’t exactly believe in them.
Now he’s on a pro team. He’s in the big show. The Schooners have made the playoffs. And playoffs…are a different creature altogether. For even if you don’t really believe in the hockey gods, they believe in you.
Show Me Your Fangs
Eric's first year in the NHL flew by. The prospect camp for the Schooners was fun and went better than he could've hoped. In September he killed it in the rookie exhibition and the preseason games.
Come October, he was playing in the NHL, for real. He, Eric R. Bittle, Jr., was playing professional hockey! A former figure skater from Georgia was on the starting roster of the Seattle Schooners!
If you’d told him in his freshman year that this was what he’d be doing after graduation, well, he’d probably have been quite concerned about your head injury, or perhaps asked for your supplier on Shitty’s behalf.
It was terribly difficult sometimes, to be sure. Jack was on the other side of the country. Skype helped, and calls every day they could manage. Packing months of affection into holidays that were all too brief.
But they won games. And lost some. But the important thing was, they won enough.
Enough to make the playoffs. PLAYOFFS!!! And wasn't that something else altogether. Out of 34 teams, he was on one that was getting a chance at the Stanley Cup!
And then. Not long after they'd secured their spot, there was a team meeting. Nothing unusual, Eric thought, the coaches just wanted to get them psyched up, keep them focused.
Which, it was, yeah. But after the expected speeches...
"Okay, so if there's any trouble with the creature features..." there were several amused snorts. "...Just see us or the trainers. We know it can get hard to deal with, especially for the rookies." He went on to tell them about proper fang dental hygiene (same as usual, but get extra toothbrushes, and eat more calcium, apparently).
"What," he said incredulously. "That's...something that happens? Playoffs turn you into...into a monster?!?!"
He looked around. Most of the other rookies looked kinda stunned. The more experienced players just nodded.
"Yeah, how much usually depends on ice time," Cricket said. "And no, you wouldn't have heard of it. Being able to actually see it, that's limited to players, other playoff teams, and some of the hands-on staff, like the trainers. It's been happening since at least the '60s, they think. Maybe earlier, but they don't talk about it that far back."
"Wha- Why?" Eric stutters out.
"It's...I dunno, a thing with the hockey gods. The regular season is hard enough. All the big and little sacrifices to make it on the ice. To get through playoffs, you need more. And so we get a little help."
His stomach twisted. He thought back to last year, when the Falconers had made their own deep playoff run. George had warned him, obliquely. Jack had been grumpier, more irritable sometimes, but not really any worse than he'd been at Samwell. Bitty just chalked it up to it being his rookie year in the pros. Of course it would be more stressful.
That night, Eric makes a somewhat stammering call to Jack.
After the sweet greetings and I-love-you's are said, Bitty finally asks.
"So. Hockey gods and monsters on ice. What the fuck, Jack?"
Jack looked slightly sheepish. "Ah. Guess I should've expected this once Seattle made the playoffs."
"I mean, it does explain why you were a bit weirder than usual last year. And the biting." Jack pinked at that. Eric smiled at him. “Not to say that I’m complaining ‘bout that, mind.”
"So many times I wish I could've told you. But would you have believed me without being able to see for yourself?"
"No, I suppose not. But you look perfectly handsome as ever."
Jack dipped his head and gave a shy grin. "Well, of course, the first round hasn't even really started. Nothing to see, yet."
"I figure I'll deal with that as it comes, how bad could it get for a rookie? I'm a little more concerned about...appeasing the hockey gods. Gosh, there's a sentence I never thought I'd say with any sort of seriousness."
Jack was silent for a minute, clearly thinking. "Hrmm. A quick prayer never hurts. But with how my dad and Yags talked about it, it's in the little things. Our pre-game routines, the cellys, even the fights and injuries, all the little dedications that sometimes you don't even realize you're doing. I don’t think you have anything to worry about. You’re as dedicated to the game as anyone I know."
"Wait...Yags?"
"Oh, Jaromir. Jagr. He's with the Aces now, you might face him soon enough! He's been in the NHL for longer than you've been alive, Bits. He knows things."
Eric didn't know why he was surprised. Of course Jaromir Jagr was among Jack's hockey uncles. He’d won a couple of cups with Bob and Mario. They probably didn’t get to meet up much because oh yeah, he was still playing pro hockey.
On the other hand, hockey gods and ice magic would explain a lot about that.
At the Schooners’ next practice, Eric paused to breathe in the chill of the rink. Okay. Fine. Whatever happened, he would do his best. He’d made it this far.
His spine tingled a little. Just excitement. Or maybe the hockey gods were watching?
Far be it from him to disappoint them.
They won the first two games of Round 1. It felt really fucking good. It was definitely harder than a regular season game, everyone giving it their all. The speed, the rush of it all...it was amazing. Every goal seemed that much sweeter.
Game 3...was a loss. But it was so so close, going into overtime with them tied 3-3.
The next morning, Eric's jaw ached. He probably had just been clenching his teeth in frustration. They'd all played well, but sometimes the other team was just better. But there were at least two more games left in Round One. It wasn't over yet.
He brushed his teeth grumpily. They had the morning to rest, with practice in the afternoon, Game 4 the next day, and the flight back to Seattle after that.
He stretched and grimaced at his reflection, side tender where he'd been checked.
Oh.
OH.
Okay.
He poked his tongue at newly sharp eyeteeth. No wonder they all ached like new fillings.
Well.
Their captain had said things like this were almost common, in playoffs. Pointed teeth and ears, patches of fur or scales. Horns and armor sometimes, in the later rounds. He could live with pointy teeth.
He was just a rookie, though a pretty dang talented one if he said so himself (and so did Cricket, and Jack, and the Schooners GM). How much could really happen to him, anyway?
He spared a brief but delightful thought for how much Jack would squirm if he bit him now. It would leave a nice mark, he mused. Then shook his head. No time for nice daydreams, though. Now was playoffs, and they’d barely started. Hopefully.
Hopefully there would be many more games ahead, and if they were really good and really lucky, sixteen wins.
It was weird. This hockey monster thing...was the weirdest thing that had happened to him since...probably since he went to college and joined Samwell Men’s Hockey. With people like Shitty, Holster, and Johnson...yeah, the rest of the campus was right, the team was full of weirdos.
At the same time...it felt sorta good. He really was a hockey player, he’d earned his spot here and he belonged on the team.
The Schooners won Round One in five games.
Whatever magic it was that happened during playoffs, Eric was grateful for it. The last game was another tough win, and he knew, KNEW that any other time, playing like that would leave him near exhausted. But now, even after cellying like crazy out on the ice, waving their sticks like madmen, he just felt energized. Even if he crashed afterwards, they had a couple extra days to rest and practice before Round Two.
But right now, a few drinks to celebrate wouldn’t be amiss.
Thank you, hockey gods, he thought. God had bigger things to worry about, surely, than playoffs. All it said was no gods before Him right? This was just like...asking an angel or a patron saint for something. Yeah. Hockey was totally an earthly-type matter, the gods of playoffs had more time to devote to hockey players anyway. They needed all the help they could get.
Probably he should ask if there were names for them, he thought, a little tipsy. It would only be polite. So he could thank them. Maybe he could make them a pie? His teammates would be more than ready to eat it afterward.
The next morning saw him peering confusedly at mostly illegible drunken scribbles on his nice stationary. Apparently he’d ended up trying to write a thank you note to the hockey gods.
Wow they mixed their drinks strong at that bar.
The day after that, Eric blinked at eyes that had gone from warm brown to a molten amber.
He'd...he'd gotten plenty of ice time, that was all.
Everything was fine.

“Will you please just stop?!”
Maggie couldn’t stop though, couldn’t stop herself from putting more and more distance between herself and the house, though it was more like a mansion than a house.
Certainly nothing in comparison to the small and rundown house where she had grown up, the house constantly feeling like it was about to burst at the seams with the number of people in it.
Everything felt it was hurtling towards her way too fast and the last thing she wanted was to hurt Colby in the backlash.
He might have been a dick to her when they’d first met but he was a good person and his family, the people who he’d brought her home to meet, they were good and honest people who had welcomed her into their home without question.
She didn’t want her family baggage to hurt any of them.
Everything had been going fine until she had realized how her family could completely and utterly fuck this for her.
And then it had been like the walls were closing in on her and she’d had to get out as quickly as she could.
“Maggie!” Colby called out again, finally getting close enough to wrap his fingers around her arm, not hard enough to hurt her but firm enough to tug her around to face him.
As soon as he does, he can tell that something is very very wrong. He might not have known Maggie for that long, but he can tell by the lost and conflicted look in her eyes and the way that her body is tense with unspoken panic that something isn’t right with her.
“This was a mistake,” She blurts out as soon as her eyes meet his, “I shouldn’t have come here, it was a mistake on my behalf, and I should know better.”
Her words only make him more confused, things had been fine, hadn’t they? Sure, she had been a little bit nervous about meeting his family for the first time but they’d been welcoming and she had seemed to relax a little as the night had gone on.
And then suddenly, he’d turned around and she had just … vanished.
“What are you talking about?” He presses, his fingers tightening slightly around her arm, mainly in fear that she was going to run again if she got the chance to, “Maggie, what is going on?”
“Your family are good people, Colby,” Maggie finds herself blurting out, her green eyes still skittish with unspoken anxiety, “Your parents are welcoming and kind and your siblings are genuinely nice people.”
“And that’s a bad thing?” Colby asks her, his dark eyes crinkling in confusion as he looked at her.
“Of course it’s not a bad thing,” She says with a watery laugh, shaking her head lightly, “I’m sure that one day soon, you’ll bring the right girl home to meet them and she’ll fit right in, but that’s not me.”
Colby flinched back like she had slapped him, recoiling from her words.
Was this her convoluted attempt at a break-up?
He had thought things were going pretty well between them, they’d both been busy in the lead up to finals but that wasn’t anything unusual.
“You aren’t making any sense, Maggie,” He says roughly, his brows furrowing together, “Why don’t you just tell me what’s going on?”
“What’s going on?” She laughs hollowly, “My brother is an addict, Colby. Sometimes it’s weed, sometimes it’s something else but he’s always an addict and that won’t change. My mom has spent my entire life cleaning up his messes and I can’t see that changing.”
Colby couldn’t help but blink at her in surprise, she never talked about her brother much, and he was starting to think this was why.
“My dad died when I was fourteen because someone cut the brakes on his bike,” Maggie continues, the words pouring out of her quicker than she could catch them, “And his side of the family despises me because I’m my mother’s daughter. They actively try to attack my mom and my sister because they’re hateful smallminded assholes.”
Maggie was sharing more of herself with him than she had in all of the time that he’d known her but he was still confused as fuck.
What did this have to do with her leaving?
“I’m still not seeing how that equals you needing to leave, Mags,” He says in frustration, his confusion getting the better of him.
“Don’t you get it?!” She snaps at him, her brows furrowing in frustration as well, “My family is filled with fucked up people, who would love to do anything to hurt me. They see my success as a personal attack against them. I’m not going to let them hurt you to get to me!”
“Maggie…”
“I can’t!” She yelps, trying to pull out of his grip with a bit more vigour, “I can’t let them hurt you or your family and by being here, I’m putting all of you at risk.”
“Mags, just stop for a second, will you?” Colby tries, desperately wanting her to calm down before she sends herself into a fit. She was panicked and worked up and the last time he’d seen her like this, she’d ended up having a panic attack in his bathroom.
“I can’t! I need to go!”
“Maggie, listen to me!” He almost shouts, his hand dropping it’s grip from her arm so that both of his hands can cup her face.
Her green eyes are wide as they watch him, still panicked but focused solely on him and what he’s going to say to her next.
“Your family is not you,” He stresses as his dark eyes look at her seriously, “Nothing that you’ve said changes the way that I feel about you and it’s not going to, okay? I understand that your life isn’t perfect, and trust me, mine isn’t either but I like you and my family likes you and I don’t want that to end.”
“I don’t want you to get hurt,” She whispers thickly, squeezing her eyes shut for a moment to stop any tears from slipping out.
Sucking in a deep breath and knowing that he’s calmed her down slightly,  he tugs her forward and wraps her in his arms.
He can feel her body tremble slightly as she breathes in and out shakily, her hands gripping his sides tightly.
No doubt she was still panicked and stressed out of her mind, and they would need to have a serious conversation about all of this when she wasn’t trying to run away.
But that didn’t need to happen right then and there.
All she needed right now was something steady and comforting and he was determined to be that for her.
“It’ll be okay, Mags,” He whispers as he presses his lips to the top of her head, his arms wrapped around her shoulders as her face pressed into his t-shirt, “We’ll figure it out.”
Yeah i’m not really sure what this is either, it was just a moment that popped up in my head while I was reading earlier and I had to write it out. I might end up expanding it into a whole ass story but who knows?
Any feedback is always welcome

New ask for my lil skater sis
Which parent do they look the most like?
Definitely her dad, which she loathes. She got all of his features, and especially when she’s older she’s the spitting image of him (except much prettier and happier).
Is there a name they were almost given (either by their parents or during character creation)?
She was almost named Aamani after her grandmother, but is extremely glad she isn’t because she loves being Sarita. It’s only annoying when someone tries to call her Sarah or Rita because she thinks they are ugly names, but she loves being almost name twins with her big sis.
What were they like as a kid (if they’re currently a child, what would they be like as a teen)?
She’s currently a child (or well, she’d say “almost adult” but she’s twelve), but as a teen she would take the skater punk aesthetic to a new level. Kari fully supports all her piercings, hair dyeing, and when she’s old enough, tattoos. She’d also love dunking on all her friends, especially Benny.
What’s their drinking tolerance and what kind of drunk are they?
Kari will not let her drink until she’s 18 but she definitely has the highest drinking tolerance of the younger squad except for Bridgette, and after 4 drinks, is very loud and boisterous trying to start a fight with everyone just because she can. Even people bigger than her. Especially people bigger than her.
Where do they like to be touched?
Sari is the queen of fist bumps and secret handshakes, but other than hands, she does like throwing her entire bodyweight on top of people she cares about, so when people are chilling she will come in and sit next to them and just throw her legs over theirs and start talking about her day. Really the only one who’s enamored by it is Ezra.
What’s their favorite position (top/bottom/switch/pillow princess/etc.)
When she’s older, she’ll be a pretty teasy top to her himbo of a boyfriend, because it’s almost impossible to fluster him with verbal flirts because he is more just in love with everything she is and does than what she says about him (plus he has that self love that he knows he’s great because Philly told him so), but is easily flustered when those flirts become more sensual and touchy. Because no one ever taught him how to respond to it.
What are their kinks?
When Sari and Ezra get older to do anything sensual or sexual, Kari sits them down for a long long conversation because with Ezra’s power and Sari’s lack thereof, it can quickly become manipulative or toxic, which no party wants. So one of the ways they will find they can take that worry away (and something they find they’re both into) is making Ez unable to speak and really putting Sari into the power position. They’re both more vanilla than some of the others of their group, but they do like the very sweet gentle dom/sub that can go both directions.
How do they feel about adrenaline (roller coasters, extreme sports, etc.)?
Unsurprisingly, Sari is right behind her sister in doing dangerous stunts to feel the rush of being on a mission. She’s the first to try anything and usually is the first to get hurt unless one of the others intervene.
What is their fight or flight response?
Definitely fight. She will punch and kick until she’s listened to, god dammit.
What’s their pain tolerance?
Usually Kari edges her little sister out in every category, but Sari actually has a higher pain tolerance than her. Mainly because Sarita’s more dexterous than Kari, but also she can take more hits before she’s down. Sari likes to say it’s her own chi, even though everyone knows it isn’t.
What character archetype are they the most like (the Innocent, the Hero, etc.)
The Magician. Sarita wants to show that she can be just as powerful as her friends. She doesn’t have the mechanical or technological prowess that Kari has, but Sari has more of something to prove and more of a drive to show that she can be great and she can be powerful.
What TV-Tropes trope would they be?
Badass Adorable. She’s the little sister that everyone wants and she’s even willing to become a vigilante to play with the older kids.
What John Mulaney quote/bit do they most embody?
‘So, we’re going on the highway. We’ve been on the road for three hours. And in the distance, we see a McDonald’s. We see the golden arches. And we got so excited. We started chanting, “McDonald’s! McDonald’s! McDonald’s! McDonald’s!” And my dad pulled into the drive-thru, and we started cheering. And then, he ordered one black coffee for himself. And kept driving.’
She’s simultaneously the kids and the dad.
With the exception of love interests and immediate family, who are they closest to?
Outside of Kari who she thinks the world of and her future stupid boo Ezra, she’s pretty close to Bridgette and later Ashi. In her own perfect world, Ashi is what Kari should’ve been. A cool big sister who can show her the ropes without acting like the parental figure as well. Sarita just wants to party. However, she will eventually become best friends with Benny because as everyone knows, when you’re straight and you’re a jock you just find the nearest straight jock and be friends with them.
What is their moral alignment? What would have to happen for it to shift?
She’s too calculated to be full chaotic, but she’s straddling the line between neutral and chaotic good. She’s much more likely to bend the rules than outright break them so she can defend herself under and circumstance. While she could never go evil, she does whatever she can to twist a situation to fit her needs.
Are they a morning person? What are they like before 8am?
Sarita is not a morning person and you can never make her a morning person. If she’s up before 11am, something is horrendously wrong. She is just a lump of potatoes in the shape of a human who doesn’t do anything but sit and wait for her hot chocolate and bagel.
What are they like when they’re tired?
She starts to get a little silly when tired. She will make the randomest jokes that are more on par with what Ezra makes, which he finds the absolute best. She also will start playing with her hair more because having her fingers busy is the only way to keep her awake.
What are they like in arguments?
She’s like Bridgette in that she can hold a grudge, especially on behalf of others. If someone’s talking shit about someone she loves, she will stare them down and debunk everything they say. However, when it comes to generic arguments about everyday things, she loves to troll people and make them look like idiots. She will pretend to not know what a burger is just because you told her she took your lunch.
What is their dominant hand?
She’s naturally a rightie, but taught herself to write with her left hand because she’s that bitch.
Out of 10, how happy are they? How happy do they think they are?
Out of all the kids in the Library, she’s probably had the least amount of trauma, and although she’s definitely had struggles (her parents abandoned the family at two, leaving an eleven year old still figuring herself out to care for her baby sister and also being the only child in the Library besides Kauri not to have powers), but she’s still at a good 8/10. Now let’s see if it stays that way.
