For the shipping meme!

33. How would they react to long distance?

(I admittedly chose these with HitsuHina in mind but would very much love to hear about any/all of your other Bleach ships for all/some of these Qs, especially ones you don't get to talk about too often!)

4. One physical aspect of a ship that always gets you
Complementary character designs for sure! Just look at most of the ships I love; they maybe have similarities in personality or they may even have opposite personalities but a few traits/experiences in common but they usually have very different character designs. It's things like height differences (byhisa), colour schemes where one has darker colours while the other has lighter ones (hitsuhina, rivetra, ginran, todomomo), or one having a softer design and the other a harsher design (renruki). Just look at these designs:
33. How would they react to long distance?
Toshiro and Momo handle it well, although it does depend on how long they'll be away from each other. We've seen in canon Toshiro wasn't a fan of Momo going to the Academy; it's clear he missed her when she didn't come see him during her breaks. This is still somewhat the case in the main series and beyond. He handles it better though, as he's become used to not seeing her for long stretches of time due to their respective duties occupying most of their time. It didn't stop him from missing Momo, but his mind isn't frequently occupied with wondering what she's doing. If she's awya on a long mission, he'll want to contact her at some point. If she's on a dangerous mission, he worries for her and the protective part of him wants nothign more than to rush to where she is and fight alongside her. However, he knows she's a capable fighter and that Shinji or whoever is with her will look out for her.
Momo handles it better, knowing she will see Toshiro again whenever they get the chance to see each other. However, if it's a dangerous mission or a long mission, she does worry about him every day until he gets back. For long missions, she texts him every second day, either to check on him or give him a random update about something.
While on missions to the World of the Living, the two communicate through texts and maybe a phonecall after a few days apart. These calls can last for more than an hour, and it's in moments like this where they realise how much they miss each other.
38. Describe their ideal home.
I've already done so for Hitsuhina in this fic, so I'll do something for Ichihime. They actually have different views on what they want in a house. For Ichigo, he's content with something simple, like the house he's always grown up in. If anything the only thing he wishes his house can have is a backyard for Kazui to play in.
Orihime has a creative mind, especially in the first arc of the story. While her ideas aren't as outlandish as before, she still gets ideas to add different rooms for strange purposes, like a room where she can build a robot in case they were need one for some reason.
In their current house, Ichigo left most of the decorating to Orihime, trusting her judgement for what housewares to buy and what colour to paint the rooms. He gets a say of course, but they tend to have similar ideas for what they want their house to look and feel like. They're also aware of the, uh...unexpected house guests from other worlds. It's because of this they always have one or two guest rooms available.
Their main concern having a safe and comfortable house for Kazui, and to have alters for both Masaki and Sora. Whenever Kazui prays to his relatives or gives them an offering, Orihime will tell him about his uncle while Ichigo tells him about his grandmother. As he gets older, they tell him the sadder stories about his relatives
Thanks for sending these in! :D

Why I Now Have a Preference For Multishipping
So I used to be a bit of a monoshipper. Well, maybe that's slightly disingenuous. When I was reading, say, KHR! fan stuff I'd mainly gravitate towards 5927. Though I didn't mind 6927 or 1827. I even enjoyed some works for the aforementioned ships, but if you asked me, "Who does Tsunayoshi belong with?" I would either respond by saying Kyoko, his canonical love interest, or with Gokudera (the 59 to Tsunayoshi's 27).
Even when I was enjoying content for other ships, the way fandom is structured to promote tribalism over every opinion, combined with ideas of what I thought romance was supposed to look like, lead to me thinking that I should REALLY only go for one ship which obviously isn't true.
I'm gonna cut to the chase and tell you the main reason why I started multishipping. Bro, mono shippings gets boorrrrinnnnngggg. Don't get me wrong, the content can be great and the interpretations as to why a ship works well with a narrative can be too, but man does it get tiring just listening to the same talking points over and over again and seeing the ship interpreted in one way. Usually in a light and fluffy way too. No one ever wants to talk about the issues a pairing could have that could make it more compelling. Only continuous fluff or smut.
The other thing is, well this is where it gets kinda deep. See when you consume a lot of a type of art, you start to hold it dear to your heart. In some sadder cases, it becomes a part of their identity, whether someone admits to it or not. While I've never fallen into the latter trap (at least I would like to think so), I've definitely let a ship becomes something FAR too personal to me. To the point where when reality set in, and I saw people praise a canonical ship and the way it was handled, as opposed to my ship, that I know deep down will never be canon, it hurt. It genuinely hurt to see that, and no ship should have that power.
The reason it does though is because when you're too invested, you can make the mistake of convincing yourself that it's canon. Only to go back to the source material and be slapped in the face with reality. Or sometimes, you straight ignore what you're seeing and convince yourself that you know the truth and that the REAL ship is over there in the corner getting sidelined when you know damn well that wasn't the intention.
So when all of these feelings of overprotectiveness swell up while having mono shipper goggles on, leads to you having negative reactions to other interpretations. Even ones that aren't directly contradicting your ship. Like if someone sees two characters as siblings or as friends, there's this odd sort of rage that emerges and makes you feel like you're being attacked, when it's just someone seeing something from a different perspective. You know that platonic or familial relationships aren't inherently lesser, but because so much of your interaction with the series or with this ship, has been purely through a romanticized lens you make an exception here. You really want people to understand the story from your point of view and so you get overly frustrated when people don't or take a neutral stance.
As you can imagine, while these can still be issues with multishipping, in my experience, it just happens a lot less. You don't feel obligated to stick to one ship, so you don't really fall into a lot of these traps in the first place. It also provides more interesting interpretations and ideas for characters when you consider them with someone else, and not take it personally if it goes against your "OTP".
Speaking of OTP, I feel like it's just not the greatest term for multishippers? Lol, maybe I'm making it sound more serious than I should but like, ONE true pairing? I like so many pairings. Mayhaps we should start using the term FP. As in like, favorite pairing. Not an OTP, just a favorite.
