I’m so glad they finally released the full cam (without reactions) for Round 2.

Group B and Group C were both phenomenal!! Here’s my interpretation of why I think C won (and it being justified):

When comparing the two groups, I think C was just overall solid. I’d argue that both teams were dancing in the pocket, but C’s members were more equal in terms of skill. C’s synhronization was also impressive. One of the judges (I don’t remember who but I think Gikwang?? or Kyuhyun??) mentioned how the ppl not in the center held their own with a strong performance too. I think B had a couple group moments where the gap in skills became apparent (some of the members hidden in the back).

Next is props & story. It seemed like some of the judges weren’t too big on props, but I just thought that was personal taste. For B, I think they could’ve gone without the story. Like what was the point of the book? And then the ending with Junseo waking back up/ coming back alive?? also could’ve gone without it. I think if they were going the story route, the story should’ve been clearer. Were they students taking a break from studying and wanting some excitement? Were they just rebellious teens? Was it a sleepover? Did they go to sleep or die at the end? Tbh, I think this song & the idea of 1 person “surviving” at the end would’ve been better executed if the plot was about a heist. That or just go no story at all.

Clothes honestly play a factor, granted I don’t think the contestants have much input. C’s clothes were very uniform, streamlined, and simple. It was very easy to appreciate their dance lines & the sync. B’s clothes, while literally school uniforms, had more variety. The outfits were also baggy, which I don’t know how to explain, but that exposed more when it came to the varying skills in hip hop choreo.

Finally, keep in mind that the scores were really close AND varied a lot. It wasn’t that every judge had B & C as either 1st or 2nd. Two of the judges (Moonbyul & Gikwang) gave D a higher score than B. The point difference between B & D was literally 1. This all just goes to show how impressive ALL of the performances were. It was seriously that tight.

#the tldr is that i totally get if someone thinks B should’ve won but don’t say C’s win was unjustified #the excuse of it being a ‘typical sexy kpop choreo’ is tiresome (even if true)#it’s about the execution!!#I didn’t go into much detail about that for C because I’ve seen enough others do so #also honestly wouldn’t put it past the judges if they were trying to spread out the benefits…BUT #they seemed just as surprised as us with the results - which I think was genuine #another thing to take with a grain of salt #while all the judges are pros in the field I only consider 3 (maybe 4) as experts in dance #and this is a kpop survival show not SMF #so I think they judged based on overall performance/execution rather than difficulty #it was also unclear what each judge’s criteria was cuz I don’t think they shared w/ us a rubric (I could be wrong)#like did some judges take improvement into consideration?#were there higher expectations for certain teams?#idk — all I know is that the teams were great & im hella excited for the attention jongup’s getting #me #jt #just thoughts #jtbc peaktime #I hate the spacing on mobile

going to murder anyone who shits on this image for being underwhelming. you people said the same shit about the first image of M87*. like, while space is often beautiful, the main goal of space imagery is not for aesthetic purposes. these images may look dull but they are much much much more monumental than Picture Of Orion Nebula #23049596. the hubble deep fields, and now this (first) webb deep field, are so fucking important because they show the sheer scale of the universe. what looks like a completely black patch of the sky even in the best viewing conditions on earth, actually contains thousands upon thousands of galaxies going back to only a few million years after the big bang. this is incredible. how dare you call that underwhelming. literally go look at Picture Of Orion Nebula #23049596 then if that's all you care about. fuck off lol

dating simon riley wasn’t always easy. “i’m a bloody nutcase, eh?” he’d joke when he’d wake up in a cold sweat, taking deep breaths as his calloused thumb rasps against the soft cotton bedsheets, grounding him back to reality. “puts all my efforts to shame when i wake up like this. fuck’s sake.”

therapy is mandatory, especially given his role as lieutenant. the traumas of childhood, the torture. he thinks he’s good at dealing with his problems, thinks therapy is a waste of time. “what, it’s just a bloke sat there starin’ at me? hell, get me a piece of paper with some made up degree on it and even i could be a therapist.” he grumbles after you point out that, in fact, he’s not as good as coping with his trauma as he thinks he is.

“you need to actually give this a go, si. it’s..” you pause, biting the inside of your lip as you make breakfast. his hair is disheveled, wry strands of grey sticking up against the grain. his dark circles only exemplify just how tired he is, especially when he has his night terrors. you shake your head, sighing as you crack another egg into the frying pan. “how can i expect you to stay safe out there when you’re barely able to look after yourself when you’re home?” you sigh out as he grunts, taking a seat at the small dining table, his eyes skimming through the morning paper.

god, he’s such a stubborn bastard. it takes months to get him to at least consider finding a new therapist, to get him to actually care about his mental health. christ, if he can’t do it for himself, can’t he at least try for your sake?

and then, it’s like he has a lightbulb moment. you come home after a long day at work, only to find him sat at the dining table, writing scruffy notes in a ring bound notebook. “mission notes?” you ask curiously, keeping your eye on him as you make yourself a cup of tea. he grunts, shaking his head as he continues to write.

“it’s a diary. supposed to help with your mental health or summet.” he replies, settling his pen down to meet your gaze. you must have had a look of confusion on your face, and it makes the corners of his lips twitch up into a half-smile. “yeah, i know. a bloke like me with a diary, like i’m a bloody teenage girl.” he quips, now grinning as his fingers toy with the corners of the notebook. “writin’ about all the boys i fancy on the field.” he shoots a wink, before continuing to write some more in his notebook.

it’s actually surprising, a smile on your lips as you watch him in his own little world, actually making an effort in his mental health recovery. you come over, settling a warm cup of tea by him before pressing a gentle kiss to the crown of his head, still smiling as you make your way upstairs to give him some privacy. he comes upstairs after half an hour, chucking the diary into his bedside table drawer before sprawling out onto the bed obnoxiously with a deafening groan. you whine and complain when he purposely stretches on you, gently crushing you with his bolder-esque shoulders with a massive grin on his face.

there were still bad days, though. days where he’d hide himself in the garage to work on some of his projects. but you’re both trying, he feels his heart break when you gently knock on the door, holding a plate of snacks and a cup of tea for him, and fuck, it makes his bad day slightly better.

that evening, he curls up besides you silently on the couch, his journal and pen in hand as he clears his throat. you curiously peer down as he begins to flick through the pages of chicken scratch, gently tapping the page as he looks up at you. he clears his throat, and begins to read out the sweetest paragraph, one that makes your eyes well up with tears.

“no idea where i would be without you, love. you make the darkest days of my life brighter than ever. you make life worth it.” he ends his speech , the timbre of his voice cracking with emotion as he looks at you. and right there, you know that through all the trials and tribulations you two will go through, you’re the love of simon riley’s life and he would never let you forget that.

Having an evening where everything is just. Good.

#did i potentially get exposed to covid while on vacation? yes.#am i coping with it by staring out my window at the sunset? yes #but also this is mostly unrelated to that.#i feel pretty alright now. i struggled for a long time with anxiety and depression and it is by no means behind me #but...... now i get to see the small glimmers more and more often #and i am unfortunately for everyone else unable to not wax poetic about it #everything feels like it has a small shimmer to it now. i spent all day driving through corn fields back home.#what a wondeful journey: i got to see part of my home state ive never seen before. see what the small farm towns on state roads look like #get a glimpse of the people there. their lives are so much like mine. feel the connection between us as we pass; never meeting #the sun on the grass. pools of water in the fields from the last storm. the tilled soil. sun glinting off of the grain silos.#laugh a little at a few of the town names.#idk man. it used to bore me that so much of everything is the same #but the fact that i cam see beauty in the world when it used to be just so much gray? unparalleled. im so grateful for it.#a few years ago i would have judged my stepdad for getting solar-powered UFO lawn lights. today seeing it light up made me smile.#and it's so nice #i will not apologize for being overly sentimental in the tags about driving through rural indiana. it's my post lmao i do what i want #but yeah im just. so grateful for the opportunity now to see more of the beauty that i didnt used to be able to see.#it's comforting now. things may get bad. but there will still be tiny violets growing around that one guy's mailbox along state road 24.#one day i will see something like that again. i got to see it today too. and I'll savor it

i am choosing to see tumblr staff downsizing as a blessing in disguise since most of the development effort in the last few years seems to have gone towards features no one uses and ui changes no one asked for. ideally this would mean they don't dump a bunch of money into shit like tumblr live and instead just maintain the site largely as-is. i take everything he says with a grain of salt but the ceo is currently fielding asks and he seems to understand this

#episode 8/the murmuring is so so so scary aaaaaah #i was able to watch all the cabinet of curiosities short films with little actual fear (relief)#but i can’t take this one because of a fucking poor lit kid next to a bed wHY #I was so proud of myself to be able to watch horror since visual horror/cinema is the only type of horror that can scarre me #and now that’s I’m 30 minutes away from finish an entire collection of horror movies I just might not #cosmic horror? for some reason very conforting in it’s incomprehension #scary dead kid just standing in the dark? Hell No.#why why why #épisodes 3 and 5 are very nice. loved everything about 3. Also the doomed/can’t escape/it’s running towards you/in the ends it’s always here #of 5 was so good to watch. after hearing and reading about this type of stories watching one and all the art/sets/costumes was delightful #I feel like The Outside will stay with me for a while. visceral experience.#The Viewing left me wondering if I was missing some references. like there were pieces I should know. at some point I started thinking it #might have been inspired by an urban legend for some reason?? the whole Rich person call top of their fields folk to his home to do a #shitton of drugs and end in ways no one can explain nor prove rings a bell but I don’t know why #episodes 1/2/6 were eh. didn’t vibe with them. felt like I might have been into 6 if I saw it younger #I can’t believe I’m saying this but the fairy tale aspect of it rung wrong. I like dark fairytale. no idk why this one doesn’t do it for me #after 1 it took me a while to watch 2 and even then I wasn’t into the show. but the statue of chuthulu and the pendent had me intrigued #i did not start this show knowing there would be cosmic horror/chuthullu mythos and all. very nice surprise #also the lighting in these are so nice. love the colors too in the more ´recent’ set episodes. do anyone know if the effect in ep7 is added #or from the camara they used? like the grain a lot #i have been stalling finishing ep8 for an hour now.......#rant
