Q: How many books away are you from reaching your @goodreads reading challenge goal?. I'm currently at 96/100 books so only 4 more to go for me! I’m reading The French Beauty Solution - the author is a founder of a popular French spa and skincare line. I picked up the book on a whim at the library yesterday and have loved it. It’s an easy read with fun stories and perfect for anyone who is starting to get serious about their skin regimen 🧖‍♀️💄 I love to bounce in and out of books on subjects I’m interested in and consider reading (especially non-fiction) “self-care” or quiet time. I bring my books with me for outings in case I get a second to read them. #QOTD Has it ever happened that you started reading a book and then a few pages in you realize you've already read it? 📚 📚 I've been wanting to get back to audiobooks for sometime now. So yesterday I was going through the different options on Libby. Shari Lapena is one author whose books I've wanted to read. I know that I've read one book of hers and loved it. But I just couldn't remember the name. Libby had around 4 or 5 books of Lapena and I ended up choosing A Stranger in the House. Around 30 mins into listening to the book, I started having doubts about whether I've already read this one. But somehow my memory failed me. Then I had to go back to my list of books that I read every year. And voila! My list says I've read this in November 2019!!! I still don't remember 95% of it. Just have some vague ideas. And so I've decided to go ahead with the book. In one way I'm irritated that I don't remember a book I read just 2 years back. But at the same time I'm also happy that I can enjoy it all over again. This leads to the birth of an organization called “Mardistaan” which means ‘a world full of men’. Their objective is to support these men who are oppressed and help them to stand for themselves. This book was a very different read for me. A story told from the perspective of men. How they feel and react to the daily situations in life. A world where men are the ‘victims’ of laws favouring women and their arrogance. It’s almost a complete reversal of roles. Not something we normally read about. Some incidents do seem too far fetched but overall a very diverse book. I got the feeling of watching a Bollywood with all the action and betrayal throughout the book. I would suggest the readers to give the book a chance and read it with an open mind. #QOTD While reading, if you come across a word you don't know, do you look it up in the dictionary or do you try and guess what the word means? 📚 📚 I don't remember the last time I used a dictionary. Maybe in school. So yes I always try and guess the word's meaning from the context. I've become so used to this that whenever my husband asks me whether I know the meaning of a word, my immediate response is to ask him the context. I ask him to tell me the sentence in which that word is used so that I can say what it means.
