leorina trans headcanon

OK SO. When I was replaying Klonoa 2 I took notice of when the High Priestess was talking about Leorina (The cutscene after finishing Noxious La-Lakoosha). Now maybe I'm reaching a little but the way they talk about Leorina to me mirrored a bit of a trans experience.

First, when the High Priestess says "she calls herself Leorina" and how they knew her by "Leo" (Which is a traditionally masculine name), then Lolo following with "Priest... ess?" not "Priestess" as if she was also pondering the name. It made me think that maybe Leorina is trans.

Then afterwards I know this is how Leorina is impatient with the temple and religion and the Gods, but I also feel it still mirrors a trans experience. How long must she wait before she is recognised? How often has she been told she can't hurry these things? Sure this is literally about religion, but being trans myself I've heard similar reasonings with my transition. Because you can't always transition fast, hell I've been waiting since 2018 to begin any sort of medical transition and I know other trans people who are experiencing the same agonising wait to be recognised.

I don't blame Leorina for dipping and going "I'll do it myself". And maybe it's a silly coincidence that there's some kind of trans allegory here, but I've held onto it for a long time. I don't think I've ever spoken about it either? Until now!! BUT IT DOESN'T STOP THERE.

I mean think here of when you actually beat her??? Like she's beating herself up so bad. And then I thought: "man. she really caved into the sorrow she felt about not being able to become a priestess", like how a lot of trans people cave into the sorrow that dysphoria brings. She turned to sorrow, let it consume her, till it eventually hurt her. It just mirrors the experience further with the depression that dysphoria can bring. It's why I'm glad at the end she realises how much she's really cared for despite everything, that she has made some bad choices but she's still Leorina. She gets the happy ending she deserves.

But yeah, I think Leorina is trans. Transgender sky pirate.
