Lenticular Clouds
Altocumulus Lenticular clouds are stationary clouds that form mostly in the troposphere, typically in parallel alignment to the wind direction. They are often comparable in appearance to a lens or saucer. Nacreous clouds that form in the lower stratosphere sometimes have lenticular shapes.

Lenticular clouds have been said to be one cause of misidentification in UFO sightings. These particular clouds are rather rarely seen. Since they do not form over flat or low-lying land, many people that see them don't know what they are.

Road Trips
My wife and I took a little roadtrip trip up the coast for the holidays to see family.
Seeing the family was great and all (truly), but the scenery along the costal route up really was something else. This was driven mostly by some spectacular clouds from a recent storm system that had just rolled thru during the week prior.
These lenticular clouds (the higher of these sets of clouds) tend to form over mountains when very high winds are present.
